Getting checked out of the clinic, James looked back at his friend once more, uncertainty clear on his features. "Ya sure you want me to stay with ya for a week? I'll be fine, really." Well, maybe he wouldn't, but he would sooner lie and struggle alone than feel like he were burdening anyone.

@chasindtrevelyan from X
Alaric had been quietly reading by himself, looking up when he sensed the mage approaching. The guy looked like an emotional wreck, truth be told, and, mage or not, Alaric wanted to help if he was able.
He wasn't expecting the figurative bomb being dropped like that though.
Eyes narrowed in concern, and he considered the implications. Sir Arlo was a highly respected Templar, but if there were any truth to the accusations... Alaric wasn't willing to jump to the conclusion someone would lie about such things, but did take things with a grain of salt.
Setting the book aside, he leaned forward, studying the mage. With his emotional state evident, it didn't seem like he was faking. "Would you prefer to tell me the details, or would you prefer to go straight to my sister and tell her yourself? I promise you, this is not something she will tolerate."

"Save the pleasantries, we all know you are speaking to me to avoid them over there." He pointed to the person a short distance away, smirk on his lips. "Though I am happy to oblige, tell me the story, I love a spectacle." He grinned, handing the other a drink with an optimistic chuckle.

nanowrimo week 1 update~
okay, so, this nanowrimo I have a goal to rewrite half of my story (the past timeline), which is currently around 70k, but hopefully I'll manage to cut that down at least by 10k...
I started off slow (got only around 7.6k this week 💀) because I had a friend over, but starting tomorrow I'm gonna be on that grind !!! I'm gonna catch up !!! I was also slower because I'm completely redoing the first few chapters, but after that I'll get to parts that don't need as much of an overhaul x)) still, even though I made less progress than I would have liked, I'm still decently happy with where I got
alright, I'm also gonna add a snippet from this week's rewriting:
“And this I saw at one of those traveling carnival carts that had stopped by some time ago and thought it looked nice. If you’re running away from Madam, you probably shouldn’t parade your face around…” They presented the mask to Endra. “I enchanted it in the same way as my blindfold, so you should be able to see through it without issues.” “Oh, that’s perfect, thanks,” Endra said, tracing over it. He laughed lightly. “I feel like, without you, I’m one step away from disaster.” “That’s because you are.” “No, you’re supposed to encourage me,” he huffed, putting the mask away. “Tell me how competent I am and how I definitely won’t get caught on day one.” “You definitely won’t get caught on day one,” Eli said, “because it will take Madam to notice you’d run away at least two.” “Go die.”

Starter | Muse: Eli / Liquid Snake | v: wild thing
The years had gone by in a long stretch of time, and he had been through so much more, than in his youth. Eli was not sure what to expect anymore, and where his true goals were placed. Even with moving past the day where those choppers practically dusted their claimed island, so many lives lost, and his only being saved due to his connection with that special child; the both of them, now being grown men.
Yet, today he found himself alone, somewhere in an outpost that was far from most civilization, having been stationed there from his current allegiance to whatever branch of military. Yes, he had finally caved and forced himself into society, hating the fact that he couldn’t just remain in the jungles for forever - always wishing that he could, sometimes still. His back was turned to the door, chair just facing the wall with his boredom, and there was nothing going on in this miserable place. He felt so drained of it, needing anything for excitement.

closed - @elixpace
where - their apartment
After leaving work (and eating an edible on the way since she respected her roommate's sobriety) Gillian picked up a pizza along with a pint of ice cream she'd brought from the ice cream shop and she headed home, excited to do nothing but eat and relax and not think about how unsettled she felt since this little slice of paradise she'd found herself in had suddenly become anything but.
But she was choosing to see the bright side of things--like how the whole town was coming together, and how nice everyone was being, empathy all around. It just sucked that it took a natural disaster for some people to be their best selves. Oh well. At least the people already in her life here were decent. Like Elijah. A chance meeting months ago and helping change a flat tire turned into an easy friendship and an apartment she now called home.
"You better be home, dude! Otherwise this whole pie and the pint of double fudge is mine."

@pcwerfulmisfits asked: 19 M/M Smutty gif prompts (Trentin/Eli perhaps?)
MEME: 𝚂𝙼𝚄𝚃𝚃𝚈 𝙶𝙸𝙵 𝙿𝚁𝙾𝙼𝙿𝚃𝚂 STATUS: accepting
After a nice night out of picking pockets, there was no one else he thought to invite to his hotel room than Eli. Trentin waited for him sprawled out on the bed, only his bath robe on and even that was opened. He was glad that once the hybrid arrived, they got right down to business. "You're so eager, I would've told you to come with me last night if I knew you needed this that badly." The werecheetah grinned as he moved his hand down Eli's body. After he sucked on his own fingers, he slowly pushed his middle and ring finger into the man's hole. "Fuck, that's it, get it nice and ready for you." Trentin moaned, shaft throbbing in the other's mouth.

" you okay? " from karlach (to bezi or whoever you feel fits).
Chewing nervously on a hangnail on his thumb, Eli scrutinized the fire as if it might hold the answers to the universe. 42, his brain chirped helpfully. He scuffed the heel of his boot in the dirt, trying not to roll his eyes at his errant thoughts. Comedy wasn't going to solve this particular problem. Is there something that will solve this problem?, a dark little voice of doubt asked. Yeah, he replied firmly, It's definitely possible, but... like, how possible? Although he was no stranger to magic, he couldn't wield it himself, and he had no idea how different the magic here was from the magic in his own world... If- no, when- he found someone who could send him back... what would the price tag be? "Huh?" A voice broke him from his reverie and he looked up, brow pinched. "Oh! Uh..." He quickly put his hands in his lap and sat up, futzing with his skirt. "Yeeeah," he said, leaning to one side before returning to center. He offered a smile, but it was a little weak. "I just have a lot on my mind."

A man who could do what was right regardless of what was ordered. That was someone he could respect. And of course being able to learn from past mistakes, that was always something worthy of respect. It sounded like Cassandra and Leliana made a good choice.
For whatever reason, it got Talon thinking about mistakes and good intentions gone wrong as he laid there, stroking his horse's ears. Would anyone feel they needed to defy him if he'd made a terrible choice with seemingly good reason? It was insane to think that was even a possibility, but given how he'd wound up in the position he had, it really wasn't that far fetched.
Bandit had fallen asleep, his light snoring giving him away and Talon gently stroked the stallion's face. "Let's hope I do a better job leading than she did," he said softly.
He blinked, a little taken aback by the question, although he supposed he shouldn’t have been given the line of questions that had led up to it. “He is a decent man…now,” he agreed, “when he first came to Kirkwall though, he was harsh. He didn’t like mages very much, and was quick to dole out punishment when instructed to do so.”
Cullen had been young when he’d transferred in, about the same age as Eli himself if he had to guess, but he’d been so angry all the time. Rumors had swirled around the Gallows about why and how the man had come to be there, but what was true and what wasn’t was hard to guess.
“He got better though, more mellow. Kinder. He was still firm with us, still didn’t quite see us as people the way he does now, but he got better. I think that’s why he turned on Meredith in the end. She wanted to kill us all, he wanted to spare those who had surrendered.”
Talon hadn’t exactly asked for a whole history on the man, but he figured it couldn’t hurt for him to understand.
“I like him though, and think he’s a good fit for his role. Men like him, men who were able to learn from their mistakes and grow into better people…they’re special. You’d do well to keep him around.”

can't believe I can cram all of vicetober into a single post now (well, minus the only drawing that I didn't manage to link to the rest of the story, F), this feels insane
context: drawn during 2022 following that year's vicetober prompt list. The story that would eventually become the vicetober verse was made up as I went, building on top of previous drawings and ideas and coming back to explore lots of what ifs, then polished and stitched together over the next months (and still ever evolving and growing).

@andurmine // eli x nadia
"I didn't think I'd see you here," he said, looking up from his book—the one she'd recommended he check out the last time he was at the library, which was a few weeks ago at this point—and straightening up as he sat on the bench right outside his lookout. It was funny for Eli to say that sort of thing, since he didn't know much about the woman other than the small talk they made at the library. What, he didn't think the librarian existed outside of that building? He mentally kicked himself for saying something so... unsmooth.
His eyes flitted down at his book, which he was about 75% of the way through. Usually he ate up books given that the crow's nest got shitty internet service and the VHS tapes got old. One could only rewind Escape From New York so many times before it became stale, no matter how much he loved Kurt Russell and that stupid mullet of his. That being said, his book was about a week overdue; Skip's one-year memorial service was this week and he'd just had a lot of things on his mind. In a teasing tone, he asked Nadia:
"What, they sent you all the way out here to come after my late fees?"

Older notes would certainly be a good place to start. The magic must have been refined and altered over the years. The world changed and evolved overtime. Still knowing what lay at the root to defend the humans and help each community was a fascinating topic that she would adore delving into. "I can start with the older ones." She was eager to learn it all though, and hopefully be more help than simply calling for a healer if something happened to Elijah.
She gasped, quickly rushing to his side. Daphne hesitated touching him for a moment in fear that she might disrupt his channeling or hurt him, but her worry won over. She stripped off her cardigan, placing it under Elijah's head. "Are you alright? Do you need anything? Would you like some water?"
"The older ones yes, the more recent ones no, because I don't want just anyone to be able to walk in and find out about our security. I can tell them to let you see it though if you're still interested." He offered and gestured widely to the room. "Stand anywhere you like"
He laid his hands on either side of the sigils in the center of the wall, took a breath and closed his eyes. The familiar flow of the coven's magic within reach, now it was a matter of pulling that current through himself into the spell. Having it all mapped out for him meant that he didn't have to think about the spell, instead acting mostly on instinct to control the power. When it was done he could feel the lines almost humming under his hands and stepped back from the wall.
He opened his eyes and the room was spinning. He stumbled back a few steps into a half controlled fall that landed him on the floor. At that point it was easiest to just go with the momentum and roll down onto his back so he could stare up at the ceiling breathing heavily. It still felt almost like it had while he was under the curse, but something about the magic felt different, so at least Arjun's blessing had worked. Well at least this time he was still conscious.
