More headcanons of fem!ozai?

I’m so sorry this took so long, I get really sick when I’m stressed, and finals season is kicking my ass, but thank you so much for the ask! I will jump at any chance to talk about my Fem!Ozai AU

-Fem!Ozai is just a bundle of rage and Mitski lyrics at this point

-When she was born, her mother died six hours later from infection, which only further angered Firelord Azulon, who was already disappointed that it was a girl

-Zaisan was named after her nonbender grandmother, Zeisan which directly went against the late Firelady Illah’s wishes, which was for her daughter to be named after her

-Zaisan grew up rather isolated, as the only other person around her age was her nephew Lu Ten

-In this AU Lu Ten and Zaisan have a decent relationship, because Zaisan doesn’t perceive Lu Ten as a threat to the throne, and there is no Zuko and Azula for Zaisan to kick around and for Lu Ten to resent her for it

-Ursa enters the picture when she moves to the capital and works in the castle to provide for Zuko and Azula

-Originally she works under Iroh’s wife Fuyuko(who in this AU kind of takes on Ursa’s role in canon, if Ursa didn’t give a shit about her children) but was switched to work as Zaisan’s handmaiden by Lu Ten who felt bad that she had deal with his mother

-Ursa originally became a friend of Lu Ten and by default became a friend of Zaisan

-Zaisan and Ursa got very close over the few months and might even have started dated

-Until Zaisan got to power hungry and decided to kill the firelord, instead of forcing Ursa to do it

-Ursa is was disturbed, not only for her life and but for her children’s safety, which only increased as Zaisan got more and more obsessive

-Six months into Firelord Zaisan’s reign Ursa disappeared seemingly into thin air, which only sent him further into a controlling spiral

-The main difference between Ozai and Zaisan is that Ozai is a self-centered prick, and Zaisan wishes she could be a self-centered prick but has to bite her tongue until she finally kills her father

Bronze Age Girl Buried With More Than 150 Sheep Ankle Bones Found in Kazakhstan

Archaeologists in eastern Kazakhstan have unearthed a Bronze Age burial mound of a girl surrounded by various grave goods in the Ainabulak-Temirsu Necropolis.

The young girl was laid to rest with a number of peculiar grave goods, including 180 animal ankle bones and a small, exquisite silver accessory depicting a frog on a disc.

The excavations are carried out together with experts from the University of Cambridge and under the direction of Rinat Zhumatayev, Head of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) Archaeology, Ethnology, and Muzology Department. The ongoing excavations have gained momentum since 2016 when the journey to explore the region’s historical treasures commenced in the Zaisan district, spearheaded by Abdesh Toleubaev.

According to The Astana Times, an English-language news outlet in Kazakhstan, the girl’s grave is located near Ainabulak village in the east of the country and dates from Central Asia’s Bronze Age, which lasted from roughly 3200 B.C.E. until 1000 B.C.E.

Rinat Zhumatayev, an archaeologist who led the excavation and heads the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan, said: “She was buried on her left side, bent over. Small wire earrings were in both ears and beads around her neck.”

The frog-adorned artifact carries immense significance. Scholars associate the frog motif with water-related rituals found in China and Egypt, adding an intriguing layer to the ongoing research. According to the researchers, this is the first example discovered in Kazakhstan and may be associated with the image of a woman in labour and the cult of water.

The sheer volume of animal bone fragments buried in the burial mound also piqued researchers’ interest. The number of bones buried with this person was extravagant compared to other graves on the Eurasian steppe that contained animal remains, frequently in child and adolescent burials.

Some scientists think that the burial of astragalus bones was part of a “cult practice” and that the bones were used during meditation. However, other researchers view the bones as “symbols of well-being” and “good luck” that served as a “wish for a successful transition from [one] world to others,” Zhumatayev said.

“Our exploration is far from over. By the year’s end, we anticipate unveiling our findings and publishing a comprehensive scientific article,” shared Rinat Zhumatayev.

“You have beautiful hair, Princess Zaisan.” Ursa commented, running the comb through her hair. The princess rolls her eyes, but she can’t stop the smile from spreading across her face.

“You don’t have to compliment me, everytime my father yells at me. And I've told you multiple times to not call me that.” she huffs.

“My apologies Zai.” Ursa corrects. Zai closes her eyes and revels in the feeling of her cool hands against her skin.

“Apology accepted, Ursa.” she takes her cold hand into her own and kisses the back of it. Ursa doesn’t react, accepting the warm brush of her princesses lips. Zai lets her lips linger for a little bit too long, she relishes this feeling. The feeling that if nothing else at least Ursa will be there, following her, worshiping her, belonging to her.

Yes, because Ursa is loyal to a fault, and will stay with her till the end.

One night Firelord Azulon dies by knife to the throat. Ursa pretends not to notice the bloody water in Princess Zaisan’s tub. She dumps it out and allows the ground to erase any trace of that night.

Zai is so drunk on her victory, she doesn’t notice the way Ursa flinches when she takes her hand in her own. She almost doesn’t even notice as she slowly draws away.

One day Ursa doesn’t come to her door.

Taking nothing but her son, daughter, and the clothes on their back, Ursa ran, far away. To where? She doesn’t know, but all she can think is how easily Zaisan turned on her father. How she had just draped her blood-stained robes over a nearby chair, while sinking into a bath. She had done it so easily, and felt no remorse at all. How could she be sure that wouldn’t be her next?

So she runs away, and she doesn’t look back.

“You have beautiful hair, Zai.” Ursa whispers, Zai leans back, basking in her praise. With gentle hands she removed her crown, setting it on the table. She unwrapped her topknot and let her hands run through her hair. Zai reaches up to grasp her hand, only to find nothing there. She turns around, only to be greeted with empty space. Her hands reached up to her topknot, and her fingers touched the metal of the crown. She ripped off, tossing it onto her table. Running her fingers through her hair she tried to calm herself down. Ursa wasn’t here and never would be again. That treasonous bitch could never touch her again.

Zaisan would find out soon enough that it wasn’t true.

Zai held her hairbrush in a death-grip, watching her former handmaiden through the mirror.

“Get the hell out of my chambers.” she commanded, trying to keep her voice as level as possible. She would not give the traitor the satisfaction of getting a rise out of her,

“All your life you’ve had to struggle your way to the top.” Ursa stated, ignoring Zai, “Is it all you’ve dreamed of Princess? Is the glory and power worth the blood on your hands? Was it worth pushing me away?”

“Shut up! You have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re a damn peasant with a weak stomach who can’t do what needs to be done. It’s not my fault you didn’t see my vision.” Zai yelled, quickly losing her composure.

“I want to help you Zai, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. Can’t you see that?” Ursa replied,

“You left me! How could you expect me to ever believe that you want to help me, that you ever wanted to help me?” Zai spit,

“No Zai, I love you, of course I want to help you.” it was infuriating, how calm she was, speaking to her as if she were nothing more than a child in need of a gentle correction. It was worse than when Father yelled at her, because at least she could scream back. She whirled to face Ursa, knowing she would be met with only air.

“If you really want to help me, then show yourself! Stop hiding in the mirrors and face me!” no response, Zai threw her hairbrush at the mirror, watching it splinter into a million little pieces, “You are a cowardly, worthless-”

“If you don’t want me here, I can leave, all you have to do is ask.” Ursa stated, and Zai stared at her through the shattered mirror, gritting her teeth.

“Leave!” She barked, and Ursa bowed her head,

“As you wish Princess Zaisan. This is my final goodbye.” and just like that, she faded away. And she didn’t come back.

Zai got what she wanted. She never saw Ursa again.

Ursa looked at her three-year-old daughter and five-year-old son, and wondered how the hell she was supposed to explain to her the entire situation. What could she say? ‘Mommy is going to be arrested and executed at dawn because she slept with the former Princess who decided to stab the Firelord, and she wants the only witness dead’ so she did what any self-respecting mother would do and lied to her children,

“We’re going to see your grandparents.”

Did she leave him for a woman and that’s why he made homosexuality illegal?

Not exactly.

In my head, Sozin is gay himself but see he's super repressed and in denial, and has a ton of internalized homophobia.

He actually raped Zeisan, it was "corrective" rape. He projected a lot of his issues with his own sexuality onto her, and others, hence outlawing same sex marriage. Also he was always in love with Roku and he was salty. Like "if I can't be happy, no one can!"

As a god governing the very concept of justice, Zaisan has abilities pertaining to it.

Morality sensing: Zaisan is able to "see" a person's current and shifting moral spectrum. Think of a D.&D alignment sensing spell.

Truth detection and compulsion: Exactly what it says on the tin.

Guilt sense: If he wants, he is able to sense if a person feels guilty for some past action, and if so, what. Could be reasonable guilt, doesn't have to be, he'll sense it and know why.

I am convinced you are the only who understands my vision. While in my AU Ursa is still a women, it centers more around how Ozai’s family dynamics change as she is now a women. This specifically centers Azulon-Ozai dynamics as it is widely accepted that in some way or form that Ozai’s birth was the reason Illah died. Ozai being a women would further disappoint Azulon as his beloved wife died giving birth to a predestined failure. While Fem!Ozai has the same ambition her father does she is no longer allowed to express it the same way she could if she were a man. Ozai’s and Ursa’s relationship dynamic changes as well because in this AU Ursa is a Ozai’s handmaiden. This means there is still a power dynamic and like canon it is tipped in Ozai’s favor. It’ll take another entire essay for me to go over their dynamic but think Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray Baird.

Bottom line is that Fem!Ozai is an absolute gold mine and there so many different paths to take when expanding on it.

Whenever I think of my Fem!Ozai all I can imagine is canon Ozai but with lipstick and using she/her pronouns.
