Are we going to talk about the fact that Jane essentially saved the day in Descendants 2? Like, if it wasn't for her, Mal wouldn't have seen the stained glass, which convinced her that Ben truly loved her and led her to try the TLK. For all we know, Mal would've probably left like she was about to right before Jane told the staff member/servant (??) to unveil Ben's gift.

this whole series is just kids displaying vastly different symptoms of ptsd and their symptoms clashing with each other in very bad ways

Had to reblog again for that comment. This is one of the many reasons why I say that the creation of Auradon and the Isle essentially fucked up like...an entire generation. On *both* sides of the (now gone) barrier. And also why I think we should've gotten more character development for the AK's but that's a post for another time.

say it with me: an overwhelmed abuse survivor that’s freaking out about not knowing how to do shit is not selfish for wanting to go back to a situation where they knew how things worked, even if it was unhealthy and dangerous.

mal is not selfish for wanting to go back to the isle where she grew up and knew how things worked when she was overwhelmed by the media attention and the various events she had to do as well as learning court manners and the like, which is an entirely new and freaky situation for anyone, let alone an abuse survivor who is inevitably terrified of failure.

this is a common thing with abuse survivors. i get freaked out and want to cry and go hide if i get overwhelmed.

mal’s not selfish for wanting to go back to when she knew how things work. the others not agreeing with her still does not mean her wanting to go back is selfish.
