Hi! My mom says I’m finally old enough to recieve my starter, and I’d like to know what your thoughts on each of them are! And which one do you think I should get? The Chespin, Froakie or Fennekin?
Goodness, I hope this isn’t too long! I tend to be the type of person to write a lot about certain Pokémon, including most regional starters.
It really depends on the Pokémon. As you probably know, each Pokémon has a different personality, like us people. This means that what I say about the Kalosian starter lines might differ depending on the starter’s personality, but generally it shouldn’t vary to much. In my opinion, all three can be good starters. One is not better than the other. It really depends on how you want your Pokémon career to go and your personality.
First off, Chespin. The Grass Type starter is generally very active at day and is better suited with athletic trainers, or at least those who can manage their energy. They are very easy-going and tend to be the easiest of the Kalosian starters to befriend. The species loves attention as well, but as they usually are people’s starter Pokémon it’s usually not hard to keep up to their needs and wants. As they grow their energy levels usually lower over time, but even it’s evolution, Chestnaught, is an energetic Pokémon. Overall, this Pokémon is best with those who are outgoing, athletic, and willing to take time out of their day to play with them.
Secondly, Fennekin.Just going to say this: Fennekin are generally pretty tricky to tame, even if exposed to humans from birth. Some Fennekin, usually the females, are cocky leaders and may pick fights with other Pokémon who try to take its position away from it. Asides from that though, they are friendly Pokémon who are probably the most loyal of the three starters to both you and your team, and the tough beginning is rewarded with a loyal partner who will stick with you until the end. I’d say this Pokémon is best for those who want a challenge with a great reward in the end.
And finally, Froakie. The most introverted of the three. They are quiet and tend to stay out of trouble, so they are the best if you have a busy life. Although their bubbles can be very sticky due to the chemical that is used to create them, training them to control where they go can prevent your clothes from being covered in them. As they evolve, they will generally get more mature and is even known to tune into your emotions similarly to service Pokémon! With that being said, Froakie is best suited for those more introverted trainers who bond best with Pokémon.
Choosing a starter can commonly be a young trainer’s toughest choice, so I hope I helped with your decision! As someone who chose Chespin myself, I can say that whichever starter you pick will likely become your lifelong friend and the bond that you create with them is usually unlike any other Pokémon you will catch, so chose wisely!

Topic: Sigils
Recently I’ve been considering starting up a sort of ‘series’ where I research an aspect of witchcraft and write about it. It will be a way for me to learn more about areas that I haven’t explored before and it will also be fun to share my knowledge. I figured, however, that I would start with something that I am familiar with: sigils.
What is a sigil?
First, a sigil in the simplest sense is a symbol that has been created and imbued with intent for the purposes of magick. In other words, its a visual representation of the magician’s intent. Sigils can look like anything: they can be big, small, intricate, simplistic etc. Often though, the sigils I have seen and made have been small and abstract.
Making a Sigil
Making a sigil is quite easy, and in my opinion is one of the easiest and safest forms of magick. There are many ways one can go about creating a sigil, some methods are very fast whereas other methods of sigil creation take far longer. There is no right or wrong way to do it and you should choose whichever method seems to work best for you and don’t be afraid to change it up depending on your situation.
Step 1: Creating the Sigil
Creating a sigil simply involves drawing some shapes on a page, however, the following method is my favourite way of generating a sigil that is meaningful to me.
Ensure you are in a quiet, distraction-free environment.
(Optional) Cast a circle or do some other form of magick to set up a place for you to create and charge your sigil.
Determine your intent. Try to make your intent as short and simple as possible. Some examples could be: “I want to be able to focus more” or “I want to be more confident”.
Once your intent has been determined, pick out one, two if you absolutely must.
Write that word down, in your native language for starters and cross out all the vowels and repeated letters.
Write the new set of letters again, be it in the Latin (English) alphabet or another alphabet (eg. Theban Alphabet or Enochian)
Take the new letters, in whatever alphabet you’ve written them in and rearrange them however you would like. There isn’t a right or wrong way to do it. Just mess with the shapes and sizes of each letter and don’t be afraid to combine and change letters to make completely new shapes.
You have now successfully created a sigil. The next step is charging it. I recommend doing this straight after creating the sigil.
Step 2: Charging the Sigil
While there are many, many ways to charge a sigil, the following is my preferred method.
Ensure you are still in a quiet space.
Sit quietly and meditate, imagining the sigil in your mind.
Visualise energy flowing into the sigil, causing it to glow and sear into your mind. Be sure to keep your intent in your mind as you do so.
Destroy your original sigil. The sigil is burned into your mind now and you can destroy it. I don’t always destroy my sigils though, I often leave them on things if I want them to affect that thing. For example, I may put a sigil to help me focus on my hand or arm.
Conclusion
I find sigils to be very easy to make and very effective, especially for things I want to change about me. I encourage everyone to at least give sigils a try because they can be pretty much anything. I will post more in the future about other methods of sigil creation.
Have a nice day.
