spooky scary skeletons but not skeletons -- bronze round
It was tempting. Really. To hold hands with her classmates and drag them through the endless maze of decorated streets and frightful scares. She would have--she wants to, but... an arena sounds waaaay more cool! True, there aren’t any haunted houses or crazy colored treats or funny costumes or... OK, there wasn’t a lot of things that you could do at an arena but the lady who--with a great amount of confidence and excitement--had proposed the idea seemed delighted that people were becoming her clients so of course, Sharena had to become one, too.
The Askran princess raises her arms in the air and stretches, pausing for a moment to recollect herself and survey her surroundings. Her companions were somewhat recognizable. Kris, a classmate. Miss Ethlyn, one of the Knights. Then there was Linny, the student she always saw in the library. Or, was his name Linny? OH! Linhardt! Yeah, that’s his name!
“Alrighty-o,” she exclaims with a bright smile, “let’s have some fun, everybody!” and just in time, too, because their enemies are here within the next moment. Sharena’s fingers curl around the pole of her broom ( also another reason why joining the arena was cool--the fun little weapons! ) and she takes a step forward. Cautious, but not without intent. “I’ll take the closer one!”
It’s the mage that’s closest so, with a twirl of her weapon and a determined smile, Sharena moves toward them and--
     sharena! roll 1d20 = 5, hit! ( 0.5 damage dealt )
wind mage! hp = 5.5/6, oh!
--the broom manages to hit the mage but not in a perfect arc. Whatever, at least she got a hit! That’s what counts, and by her delighted exclamation, she’s more than proud for the attack.
     wind mage! roll 1d20 = 11, hit! ( 0.5 damage dealt )
     sharena! hp = 9.5/10, ouchies!
Wind swirls in the air before her and she’s sent--weakly--stumbling back. Just like her own attack, the strength behind the hit wasn’t the best but it was still something! That’s better than nothing!

What were the writers thinking...
You know... I like to suspend my disbelief when playing videogames. I really do. I think it makes the entire experience much more enjoyable. But every once in a while, some plot twist, some piece of dialogue, some creative choice comes along that is just so mind-boggingly stupid, it kills my entire hype.
Case in point: I love FE3H and I love Petra--best CF girl hands down--but WHAT THE FUCK was that A+ support of hers with Ashe? Specifically, this:
Petra: Yes. I have great skill at sailing. However, to be swimming is what I really love.
Ashe: Swimming in the ocean? I've never had the chance! What's it like?
Petra: The ocean can feel shallow or deep, bright or dark... and it is filled with many creatures. There are always new things for discovery. On sunny days, I like to be diving under the clear surface of the ocean and to be looking up at the sky from below... Those moments are my favorite. The sun shining through the blue water... It can be making even the water sparkle like gems.
Ashe: That sounds amazing. I can't even imagine it. You must really love it though. Your description just now was very poetic. It makes my time swimming in rivers and lakes feel pretty small in comparison.
[...]
Petra: We will be diving into the ocean with each other, and be gazing up at the sky from behind the waves. I give you this promise. I hope you are understanding.
As someone who used to be on a swimming team for years, who loves swimming and the ocean, all I can think is this is an absolutely terrible idea. Are the writers aware that the ocean is made of SALT water? have they ever gotten salt water in their eyes? Because that’s not a pleasant experience. Are there swimming goggles in Brigid? I doubt it, since Petra doesn’t even know what glasses are until she meets Ignatz. She makes it sound like such a grand and emotional experience, but it would fucking hurt and I just can’t get over it.
I know it’s a weird detail to get hung up on, but for me, that just killed the support chain. I had been considering pairing up Petra and Ashe in my golden NG+ walkthrough, but I fear if I have to read another line about how much fun it is to swim eyes open, no goggles in the damn ocean, I’m gonna have an aneurysm. I could not take that ending seriously.
So, sorry, Petra and Ashe. I’m gonna have to pair you guys off with someone else (or maybe you’ll join Manuela and Linhardt in the ‘better off alone’ club).
