some headcanons about lucilius’ current body!:
the black stuff on his body is physical void and chaos, likely an effect from his revival (or from the void bubz used to kill lucifer?). it feels wet yet dry, warm yet chilled, something intangible and unable to be fully understood. this mostly applies to the jagged, uneven pieces, such as that on his torso and back, while i like to believe his arms and legs are…
artifical limbs made of metal and astral technology, due to the different appearance and structure from everything else, more uniform and controlled. wmtsb2 made it rather clear that there was very little left of lucifer when sandalphon found him, and it really wouldn’t be surprising to have bubz vent out his anger by going that far in desecrating him.
though alive again, his skin has that pale, dead appearance, cold to the touch.
the scar lining his neck is very sensitive - and no, not in an erogenous way. it stings to have it touched, something like a sharp papercut, and if there’s anything that’ll set him off quickly, it’s that.
he often feels phantom pain, sometimes in his limbs, other times throughout his whole body, as even though it’s physically there, it’s not his in the end.
the reason for his frequently scratchy and hoarse voice is more than just intimidation - his throat hasn’t properly healed. please give him a cough drop
he’s taller. because lucifer was taller. victory
the devil wears prada

so uh, some boredom in class led to some reading of genesis (the first few parts, at least) and i got some thoughts...!
holy shit.
i’ve long wondered what role lucilius could play in the biblical narrative, as each being in wmtsb has so far had some connection to their holy themes and roles, an example being lucifer, who, although stated by FKHR to not be tied to the lucifer from classical literature, could easily be taken in a similar vein, with his disobedience to “god” (lucilius) and “rebelling” ultimately leading to his “fall” (dying but still having traces of life, making him stuck in purgatory [for now?]).
lucilius was a bit more tricky for me to figure out (this post in particular was a real eye-opener, but it still didn’t feel like...enough?), so i figured i could do some reading of my own.
in any case, i found there to be a lot of similarities with lucilius and eve of all people (not to mention lucio with adam to boot), and it really surprised me! here are a few connections i made:
curse
“...in pain thou shalt bring forth children...”
“And the man called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. “
the punishment to adam and eve for disobeying the will of god, for having knowledge of good and evil.
lucilius created the first primal beasts, providing a new source of life to prosper over their selected purpose for years to come; some were weapons, some were guides, some were creators, but they all came from lucilius in the end.
“...and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
feeling something missing from himself, lucilius created lucifer - who inadvertently had the same role as lucio - to fill in the gap, his desire to his own self, his clone. this does not work, as both lucifer and lucio end up ultimately defeating (ruling) him alongside the crew.
omnipotent
genesis 1-11 is referred to as primeval history.
lyria refers to bahamut as the “primeval dragon” anytime he is summoned, and she mentions the drawing of the figure in the creation myth to be familiar.
lucio refers to vyrn as -dono, a very ancient and formal way of calling someone “lord” or “master”.
“...formed man of the dust of the ground.
“...for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
the first creation; lucio? could be connected to his skill and buff, “out of the ashes” and “crown of ashes”, but it could just be a general metaphor to a phoenix in its immortality.
eden
“...planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed.”
the name of lucio’s recruitment weapon. in more fancy terms, the harbinger of his joining, his birth.
“...took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.”
the omnipotent crafting lucio to oversee and guide life as a whole. coincidentally the near-same purpose lucilius crafted lucifer with.
ribs
“...took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh instead thereof.”
lucio created lucilius in his image to serve the omnipotent and guide the world of the astrals, an exact piece of him. also happens to be the place where lucifer was first stabbed before his demise.
apples
“...in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.”
the infamous forbidden fruit of knowledge, eve was the first to partake in it and thus learned of the truth.
although adam was guilty of this too, i don’t believe it could fit lucio in this case, considering he’s very stalwart in his belief to the omnipotent and almost oblivious, if not ignorant, of lucilius’ viewpoints.
vyrn loves apples.
figs
“...and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves girdles.”
the name of one of lucilius’ attacks. it grants him defense.
dislikes
a bit more on the nose, but lucio’s dislikes have been stated to be snakes and apples, the very things that came to bring about the casting away of adam and eve - the fall of man.
an extra point that doesn’t relate to the story of adam and eve, but i also thought of while shifting back and forth sources:
axion
“I will teach you about the discrepancy in our strengths.”
the name of one of lucilius’ attacks. refers to a hypothetical particle in physics. i don’t know. science i guess
a possible mispelling (or double meaning [intentional? unintentional?]) of axiom: “a statement that is taken to be true, to serve as a premise or starting point for further reasoning and arguments.”
inflicts blinded, as if to say mc and the crew are blind to his ways, his truth.
and that’s about it! what do y’all think? it was really enjoyable seeing all these pieces come together, and while i may have reached a bit for some of them, i still find them rater probable. whether on purpose or not, it just really goes to show the amount of time and research cygames gave these events, and i LOVE them for that.
i’m about as cynical for religion as our boy lucilius here, but this really interested me for most of today, and it’s given me some inspiration to finally give the “paradise lost” poem a read sometime. just goes to show what happens when you give things a try!

a headcanon that’s essentially canon but:
lucilius does not believe he’s a god. nor will it ever happen.
he had no intent to rule over anything (he was willing to use etemenanki, the only place protected from the world ending, as a means of ending the world) and showed no interest in becoming what he himself does not believe in. will he accept being a powerful being, one that could wield endless power and is nigh unstoppable? sure - and it has been shown by his vanity in underestimating sandalphon and the crew, only using them as test subjects for his strength - but he damn well isn’t going to go proclaiming he’s a god in any form.
he knew what he wanted: to defy the creator and destroy everything it created, including himself, no sense of wanting to proclaim the title of a deity.
because in the end, what’s the point of being reduced to nothing but a word?
