You asked me so I'm gonna ask back! What got you into whump?

Hiii thank you!

I don't think anything got me 'into' whump, really. Thinking back, I was always obsessed with whump, ever since I was a kid. I loved the dark stuff in kid's movies the most, characters being in trouble was the best, my toys would get locked up and had to escape...

I remember getting a ball for my birthday, and being super excited! Not because I loved the ball, but because it came in a net, and if I carefully cut it open, I could use that to capture my mermaid doll!

It's nice to discover the whump community and put a name to it all, especially whumperflies. (what a perfect name!).

So yeah, it's always been there haha. And it always makes me wonder why I love it so much, but I really don't know... I guess I just do?

What was your inspiration for your OC?

It sounds like a cop out to say but a real wild orca inspired him!

He's based on a 45 year old orca named Chainsaw! Sardon's dorsal is drawn after his unique jagged one. He's a long lived orca (I think most males live to their thirties)and very popular because of his dorsal C:

I don't think anyone knows how Chainsaw got his scars but I liked the idea of Cironus having a big brother with scars that told a story of his rough life. And from there thats how I started developing his character!

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

I have too many trigger words atp lemme not out myself for being a freak of nature.

27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?

Probably Tokrev Mikey because I just think his personality is too fragmented to really feel like there's anything 'in character' about him aside from the fact that he just seems very hollow and beholden to other people's perceptions of him and what happens around him/ because of him.

Weirdly enough, I had a lot of trouble writing Izuku at first because I think he exists with a lot of internal conflict that has to be read through the lines more than the upfront 'he's insecure, very nice and he cries a lot' and it was hard for me to figure out what an adult Izuku would look like after he's gone through all of his struggle with self-worth and identity, etc, but now I think I've settled pretty firmly

This is a tangent but I think it's interesting how sometimes when your personalities and motivations are similar but your actions and coping mechanisms are different, it makes it harder to figure out the other character?? So in a sense, I overall struggle writing characters that are Just Similar Enough to me but not exactly like me.

Bruce Wayne is canonically a very handsome man (he is called a "pretty boy" and he is in his 40s, for fuck's sake), and he is pretty famous as a rich philanthropist who doesn't want to leave his awful cursed crime infested city. So, there must be a ton of people thirsting over him on the internet. Fancams, edits, fanfics and imagines ("kidnapped with Bruce Wayne 😍 by a Gotham rogue"), the whole charade!

And anytime one of the batkids stumbles on a thirst post, they have the most dramatic disgusted reaction, loudly gagging, before sending the link to the batkids chat, because if they must suffer, then they should all suffer. Clicking on a link in this groupchat is like playing russian roulette, and getting rickrolled is a good ending.

Tell me a preconception/headcanon you have for one of my characters... (extrapolating from Rrahna) Rhiki has problems with nightmares from all the things she's been through as the WoL

Oh good one! Rhiki does have nightmares on a pretty regular basis. Not every night, but probably a lot more than the average person.

Early on it mostly involved facing down primals. The burning heat of Ifrit's domain. Being plunged underwater by leviathan and drowning, weighed down by armor. Lunging at Titan only to have the floor crumble and fall out from under her. Shiva's icicles raining down on her as she desperately darts from safe shelter to shelter.

(She probably even had some more mundane ones, like showing up for to fight a primal only to realize she had forgotten her lance and also she wasn't wearing pants lol)

HW was hard on her. She re-lives The Vault on a semi-frequent basis in her dreams.

For a while she would have dreams of watching Estinien slowly twist and change into Nidhogg, and of having to kill him. Sometimes she would dream that she was the one being overcome by the dragon. Both of those have mostly subsided as of late.

The First also had a ton of nightmare fodder. An action replay of Tesleen's death makes regular appearances in the rotation. She dreams of other people she knows being set upon by sin-eaters. She dreams of watching them scream as the change takes hold. And, of course, she dreams that she's turning into a sin eater. Those ones are... bad.

Since she absorbed? Ardbert she has nightmares that aren't hers. They're scary when they're happening, but mostly just confusing when she wakes up.

The fate of the au ra siblings in Werlyt really got to her for some reason. She dreams about what their final moments must have been like, of smashing and prying her way into the Weapon and desperately trying to pull them out as the Oversoul takes affect. Always just a few seconds too late to make a difference.

A recurring theme in her nightmares is failing to save people. Those dreams where she's just a few steps behind, a few inches too far away, a few seconds too late. It might be one of the Scions - one of the twins or Estinien maybe - or Aymeric or M'naago or Fordola or Sid or Rielle. Sometimes it's people she's already failed, which makes those the hardest to wake up to.

Sometimes she dreams of The Final Days, but it's with a strange detachment. The sounds of screams and crashing buildings muffled. In these dreams she's just staring upward and watching. She should feel scared, probably, but she doesn't.

So yeah, I imagine she has a lot of nightmares lol. Not every night, but enough of them.

okay but a like post-series fic i want that's like: steve harrington being the only man left in hawkins fighting monsters

and not like a 'everyone died, last man standing' way but just. they beat it back, the story ends, nice little tie-up and neatly concluded, eleven loses her powers because their world is completely cut from the other. and life goes on. eddie (yes, eddie lives au don't fight me) goes off with his band, robin-nancy-jargyle off to separate cities for college. the kids go to high school, graduate high school, and scatter across the country. joyce and hop buy a beach house far-far-far away from goddamn hawkins indiana.

steve though. steve stays. he does it too without comment, takes all their calls telling him all these amazing things. the years pass. the calls are fewer and far between. he's mostly in contact with only dustin and robin. except robin's out of country doing some crazy temp job in some remote country, she never catches him at home right now so just leaves him messages. and it takes a couple of weeks for dustin to realize he hasn't gotten steve on the phone.

frantically he calls around "have you heard from steve???" except the most people talk to steve anymore is like phone calls during holidays and holy shit what could have happened??

and what if it's back?

cue everyone who can in that moment, rushing back. eddie hopping on a flight from fucking london direct to indianapolis somehow, heart in his throat. he manages to meet hopper in the airport and they pick up max and dustin at the bus station.

they get to hawkins that is even more different that what they left. a smaller town, a town that shuts down completely when the sun sets. it's creepy and deserted.

except for the fucking upside down monsters of course.

and they're in their stupid little rental in front of this demogorgon and they're screaming but then the thing just goes splat on the concrete and steve fucking harrington is blinking owlishly at them.

"Oh, hey guys!" he calls jogging up to the driver's side window. "Wow, what brought you back down this way? You should have told me, I would have told you about the curfew!"

turns out steve just forgot to pay his phone bill that month, didn't even realize he was missing calls and he's been fighting monsters the entire time because actually they WEREN'T cut off from the upside down at all and he's just been casually fighting monsters for the remaining hawkins residence—the whole town knows now and steve's the guy you call when you have a monster problem

sidebar: WAYNE still lives in hawkins, and he and steve are best friends, eddie munson you are gonna LOSE YOUR MIND
