Some headcanons for some F/Os that I post about less but are in my head often:

It’s long so I put it under the cut:

- When Alha.itham and Rina start dating, he invites her to his house a lot more to hang out. Originally, Ka.veh is annoyed at this because Rina starts eating some of his snacks (Al.haitham told her it was okay). So he didn’t like her at first, but then one time she actually defended him against Hai.tham so now they’re cool with each other. Also, Hai.tham brings Rina to the tavern when he hangs out with Tigh.nari and Cy.no, who both caught on that they were dating before Rina even said anything about it.

(I should post about Rina and Kav.eh’s friendship more often, I actually love their dynamic)

- It’s actually canon (from GB2) that Eg.on didn’t grow up with any toys save for part of a slinky he straightened. Meanwhile, Kaiyo grew up with a vivid imagination and her fair share of toys growing up. As adults, they help each other expand and grow, as Eg.on teaches her about science and encourages her to learn despite her insistence that she’s “not a genius like him”. He finds her intelligent in her own right and never talks down to her. Similarly, Kaiyo is one of the few people where Eg.on feels comfortable being a little sillier around her since she’s doubly silly and they kind of round each other out in that way, and make each other better.

- One time when Bei.dou left for one of her trips, she accidentally left her coat behind for one Rina had gifted her for Lantern Rite. Rina was quick to take advantage and ended up wearing it often to work, to dinner, etc. Sometimes, Bei.dou actually does let Rina wear it instead of her because she looks cute in it.

- You know that training wooden post Deh.ya has? In the arc.hon quest she mentioned that she knows every mark she’s ever made on it. Except one. One time while training she was caught off guard when she saw a little heart carved into the wood. I wonder who did that…

- Being the only member of TBB who is female besides Ome.ga, she and Kaiyo have a lot of bonding time where Kaiyo often takes her out to do more “girly” things the others either understand or try to but just don’t quite grasp. On one such occasion the two returned having bought two different dresses which they were wearing when they returned. Ome.ga came back first, to which Hun.ter said “that’s a nice dress, Ome.ga. Did Kaiyo buy it for you?” “Yep! She also bought one for herself, look!” He looked up to see Kaiyo’s dress and got flustered as he had never seen her outside of her usual work wear. Ome.ga teased him about his reaction for days.

- Kaiyo is fond of sketching, and often likes to do it when not on a mission, training, or bugging any of the guys. She once noticed that Te.ch was particularly engrossed in fixing something that he hadn’t noticed her come in. So she sat down and sketched him for an entire hour until finally he looked up and noticed her there. “Oh. How long have you been there?” She smiled and showed him the sketch. “Long enough to make this.” He adjusted his goggles. “Impressive. You have quite the talent…” Te.ch keeps the sketch in his room and looks at it from time to time. Not because it’s of him, but because Kaiyo drew it for him.

- The way Kaiyo and Vincent speak is night and day. Vincent is always very formal, Kaiyo more casual unless the situation calls for it. To his annoyance, Kaiyo uses “slang terms” because she knows it irritates him. Eugene thinks it’s funny. This was all fine until at a meeting he slipped up and used said word and embarrassed himself. Maybe he spends too much time around her…maybe this is exactly what she wanted.

I like to imagine for one of Yoi’s birthdays Bei.dou ends up sailing to Ina.zuma around the same time and Rina asks to go with her because she misses her bestie (they’re kinda like pen pals) and Yoi is so happy to see them both she makes them a custom heart firework and they’re both embarrassed because neither one told her they were dating. Also this is context for the art piece I’m making for her since none of my s/is live in Ina.zuma so in reality Rina doesn’t get to see Yoi in person very often :(

rina! hi! i apologise for the spontaneous question, but i'm curious, what are some of your favourite facts or canon concepts/things about your f/os?

Hi Basil! Don’t worry, there’s no need to apologize :) There are several things I like in canon, so I’ll list one thing for some F/O’s that I’ve seen in canon:

Vincent

- I like that he’s this evil supervillian guy but loves his pug so much, and the fact that he named him Esteban. I love their relationship even though Esteban doesn’t make an actual appearance in the game.

Ye.lan

- I love the story of how she obtained her coat. I mean how she got the fur is already cool, but then she was basically like “it’s ugly” and fashioned it to her tastes. I also like how she likes to pretend to be a customer at her own teahouse to play dice with unaware strangers.

Hun.ter

- I like whenever he does little tricks with his knife. I don’t have a picture but you know when people flip a pen around in their fingers? He does that with his knife and I think that’s so cool.

Eg.on

- I love his penchant for sweets, like the scene in gb1 where Peter gives him the crunch bar and is like “you know what? You’ve earned it.” And how Eg.on tentatively reaches for it. Adorable.

Bei.dou

- The story of how she slayed Hai.shan is so. cool. I can’t get over it. She really slayed a sea monster all without a vision. She is the coolest.

Yep, she was the first Genshin character I loved, and my first pull (even before Noelle!) I still play on and off.



how did you feel when you realized "oh of course i had to like That Character"?

I liked her appearance first, but then learned that she’s a badass pirate lady who slayed a sea monster. She’s a cool strong lady, that pretty much sealed the deal.

Jenny (Studio Killers) - What object have you taken from your f/o that reminds you of them? What have they taken from you?

On a few occasions I’ve borrowed her hair pin. She has a few of them in her house but the one she wears is my favorite. When she goes on long voyages she leaves it with me so I have a piece of her with me while she’s gone. 💜 From me, Beidou hasn’t really taken anything as I just give her gifts. But she has a greatsword I gifted her for our anniversary, and some dragon earrings of mine she likes to borrow.

She (Dodie) - What flavors does your f/o remind you of?

Sea salt caramel. Because you know…ocean? I guess anything like that. Also, sweet things in general for some reason.

Lover: What is your favorite part of the life you've built with your f/o?

I love how easy and carefree life is (focusing on Beidou since Rina’s life with Yelan is more action packed). Beidou has someone who loves her unconditionally and who doesn’t get upset when she goes out to sea. But when she is back, we spend a lot of time together and being apart only makes us remember how much we love each other. It’s not a standard arrangement, but it works for us.

The Man: What strengthens your f/o in your opinion? What do they believe strengthens you?

Mainly her crew and Rina’s support. As she’s said before, a captain is nothing without their crew, and everyone on the Crux has the utmost respect for her. I think also knowing she still lives a good life despite her difficult past keeps her going. For me, Beidou has told me that my “willingness to push on and not back down, no matter how aggressive the tide” is admirable.

Tell us about the perfect date night scenario with your f/o!

I honestly love the ocean though my s/i doesn’t sail with Beidou too often. When she’s docked near Liyue, I take her to a restaurant because I’m sure it feels nice to eat something other than fish after a long trip. Then, she likes to take me on her ship to the crow’s nest (I think that’s what it’s called, the name is slipping my mind right now) and we look out over the ocean.

Yellow:

Imagine a fantasy au with you and your f/o! What roles would the two of you take? How would the story end?

I feel like this is very much a cop out, but a fantasy setting of a pirate queen and her first mate comes to mind. Orrrr, rival pirate captains who join forces to take down a common enemy, enemies to lovers style.

Blue:

Your f/o is having a bad day.. How do you cheer them up? (+ Reversed for the other way around !)

Beidou is used to giving the orders, and always being there for her crewmates in tough times…but Rina is often there to hear Beidou vent any frustrations she may have. She just wants someone to listen to her and not judge her, and that’s what Rina tries to provide. On the flip side, Beidou likes to take Rina to the sea side. They let the waves crash beneath their feet, and it usually calms Rina down and she feels better after a while.
