[Styx and (Unnamed)]
You originally joined this project because you had nothing left to really hope for. Yeah, sure, you liked calculating trajectories and the smell of gunpowder, but that was just part of the job. Something you were good at. You've effectively burned all your bridges back home, your personality too grating and flaws too difficult for them to handle in that sleepy town.
You've always wanted a family, somewhere to belong. Sometimes you just have to make things yourself. You haven't wanted in so long. (You haven't weren't been wanted, either). It's freezing cold in the cloning lab, but that's okay, this is worth the flareups of pain in your knuckles. They're worth it. The glass of the chamber is warm, almost hot, and fogs beneath your hands. The little body in the tube floating peacefully. Sometimes you see the baby your baby wiggle their fingers or kick their feet. "Hello, Hank." You coo, staring at them with adoration hidden behind the polarized blue of your goggles. They—Hank merely continues to float, thumb pressed against the hidden line of their mouth. You really can't get over how small they are. "I can't wait to meet you." Your baby. Your child.
(Sorry for all the OG content, I've been cooling off before I continue my next set of asks)

QUESTION.
So with Hank being an experiment-born “baby”, does he have similar tendencies to a newborn? Or is he altered to be kind of the ‘perfect’ baby 👁
(like more specifically does Styx wake up at 3 AM to Hank crying, having to coddle him dhdjdndjfjfj-)
Hank is a partially altered clone! Division 16 does their cloning differently from Nexus Core (and the future AAHW).
All clones from NC or AAHW have a few main templates that they clone from as it's easier to produce more soldiers/cannon fodder en-mass. They're (temporarily) artificially altered to age quickly in their tubes, the information on how to eat, drink, use logical reasoning, language, and fight flash trained into their minds. Most never receive a childhood, already an adult when they're decanted. It's almost tragic, what happens to these "adults" who never got to live.
Division 16's cloning is a tad different, on the other hand. Their clones are mixed DNA, typically using one main human "parent" and another (Typically a Nevadean) to create a clone. So, technically, they're not true clones, but use a similar method deviated from cloning technology. They're like human babies. Hank's got most of his genetic information from Styx, but appearance-wise ended up with a nevadean's physiology from the secondary template.
In this universe, before everything went to hell in a handbasket; cloning wasn't seen as just a method of mass-producing viable soldiers. D16 was always concerned with making a better life for people, so their cloning technology was used in situations that could help people. You can't physically have kids and your state sucks and won't let you adopt a child? D16 can help with that, and will often do this pro-bono.
*Coughs* aaaaand I'll get into the juicier details later.
To answer your question, yeah, Hank's a baby baby. Absolute newborn. A little bean. Decanting Day meant that he'd been developing for 9 months and was "born" once that period was up. Styx was ready to explode when they got the alert that Hank was finally gonna be in their arms. They're sooooooo excited.
He does sleep through the night pretty often, but he will have some nights where he just cannot go to bed. They don't happen often, but when they do, man. Hank is like,,, 8 pounds and is as big as a small bag of flour, but boy does he have a set of lungs on him.
Styx doesn't mind this, they adore Hank with every fiber of their being. Eeeeven if it's waking up to the Worst Sound In The World™ at 2AM. (Note: It's only the Worst Noise™ because Styx doesn't like imagining Hank crying from pain, even if that's an inevitability they'll have to face in a few months/years.)
If they have to cradle their son and sleep sitting upright in a chair to soothe their kid? Sing and hum softly for an hour? Lie dead still like a vampire in a coffin with a now soothed Hank sleeping on their chest because they're afraid of accidentally rolling over on him? By golly will Styx do it.
Styx is basically gonna raise Hank just like any normal human kid. (They have so many parenting books, and they do badger Kaito because he's the Only Adult They Respect™.) Tracking milestones, dealing with the trials and tribulations of having a small, screaming baby like any other single parent.
TL:DR. Hank's just a baby that's got Human and Nevadean traits. Styx loves Hank so much and is always willing to wake up at early hours of the morning for him.

DUDE 😭😭 i love your au SO MUCH
Do you have any more art/stories involving Hank and their dad?
I'm currently out of art! But I have so many ideas and potential story ideas with Hank and his beloved parent QuQ. I can give you a snippet!
Decanting Day has Styx ready to crawl out of The Blast Pit and start shrieking at the top of their lungs. Their hands jitter with barely contained excitement, and they keep tapping their fingers against the polished veneer of their desk in fluttery, staccato beats.
Styx gets a few side-eyes, some amused, some irritated, from their co-workers, but they don't give a flying swan about what they think. Dr. O'Malley's a bloody hypocrite, glaring at them like it wasn't him the other day getting excited for his child to get released from the tube. They even got their reports done, and sent to the Boss on time, they deserve this!
Their pager chatters, once, twice, flaring blue.
"BABY TIME!" Styx howls at the top of their lungs.
Styx slams their hands on the table, joints cracking, and they snatch up the shaking device with trembling hands, vaults over their desk, and sprints off to The Nursery.
-TBC-
I'm still currently building the AU at the moment, so a lot of things may not be like, totally set in stone.

Aye aye, Jalapeno! *intense drumrolls*
Tumblr media
This is Styx! (plus a bonus leetol bab Hank beside)
Styx is a senior member of Division 16 (the same branch that my oc Lithe [Kaito] worked for!). Styx is Non-binary and goes by They/He pronouns. Much like Hank, they're very proficient with firearms and CQC, but unlike their child, Styx is much much much better with technology. They primarily do work with Ballistics and Astrodynamics. So they're ridiculously good with a sniper rifle.
They really, really, REALLY adore their son so much. Hank also inherited their lack of hair, so yeah. Styx is bald, but they don't mind. They have a lot of headscarves that they'll braid and tie into various "hairstyles".
I'll have more information, so feel free to send any questions about Styx my way, I'd love to talk more about them! I also have a few other 'Progenitor' OCs on the way!

MORE INFO ON STYX AND HANK 🅱️LS 🛐🛐🛐 JUST ANYTHIING YOU CAN THINK OF jdhddkhf
I'm!!! Very delighted that you're so excited for the Wimbletons!!
Hank has a lot of inherited (and learned) habits from Styx.
Both of them share the same stims:
They shake/flap/clap their hands when they get excited over something. Their whole body trembles from their excitement.
Hank used to have Styx's humming and singing stim, but mostly just hums in the current day from the chronic pain from their jaw prosthetic.
Hank, like Styx is very impulsive and pretty reckless, because, hey, he had to learn it from somewhere. Though Styx is a bit more cautious than their son is when it comes to combat situations. Styx prefers to try and scope out a location as opposed to going in guns blazing.
Styx's sense of humor is softer than Hank's is. Hank can get pretty mean when it comes to some of the jokes and quips he makes (though, then again, a lot of people in the current day are pretty shitty, so Hank doesn't care to apologize). They're both very sarcastic though.
Unlike Styx, Hank's kind of—bad when it comes to tech. Styx can hack, Hank looks at a console that controls a motorized/locked gate/door/vault and goes "Nah, I'll just destroy the door". Yeah, he can use a radio and a computer, but he's not the best with it.
Styx, on the other hand, give them 30 minutes to look over something and they'll figure out how: not only to break into it but sing you happy birthday in binary.
Neither of them knows how to fully function when it comes to social situations. Styx is more chatty, but will only really communicate with people for a short period of time before going off and doing something by themself. Hank's the same way, but worse. He usually stands around and watches people do things, and never makes an attempt to try and speak.
With people, they like/love, however, both will do their best to engage with them as much as they can verbally. Though, inevitably, they'll settle back to watch and listen once they've exhausted their dialogue options.
Hank has a harder time than Styx with verbally expressing his love. He tends to do so more with action, and even then, some people may have a hard time seeing Hank's affections as him being romantic, much to his chagrin.
Styx wears their goggles because they deal with a lot of bright lights from explosions and other objects that light the heck up.
Hank wears his goggles/glasses because he's got photosensitivity. His lenses are heavier polarized than that of his parents due to his fixed pupils. It's one of his few "defects". Not that he cares, of course. He gets to look like Styx, and also looks cool, so what if it's a bit brighter than normal?
Hank liked to mimic Styx a lot as a kid, how they walked, talked, and acted.
A lot of how Hank dresses in the current day is based on his memories of how Styx wore their outfits.
Hank will also have his headwraps/headscarves carefully tied or braided to mimic hair, just like Styx did.

Styx and hank make such a cute family, I saw you mention someone named Kaito, can we hear more about them with the family?
Of course! I'd be delighted to! (Small, but potential trigger warning: Mentioned Child Abuse, but not towards Hank.)
Kaito is another Original Character on this blog! I have a profile for him on my pinned info. In the current time (well, I'd say around madness combat 4) He's known as "MAG" Agent: Lithe.
As mentioned in a few of my previous posts with Styx. Styx joined Division 16 after they "burned their bridges". In reality, Styx was disowned shortly after they moved out of their hometown up in Abbot, Maine. They do not miss their parents. Sure, they never laid a hand upon Styx, but not all abuse is physical. When they weren't being ignored for their personality oddities, they were often yelled at and sent to behavioral therapists, doctors, all in an attempt at "fixing" their child. Styx is Autistic and trans, so like. Yeah. Shitty, shitty parents.
Styx chose their first and last name, what a legend.
Anyway, so Styx didn't really trust a lot of people and chafes under authority. They really wanted a family though, and a steady income. Division 16 is known for being very inclusive and fair to its employees, and Styx's skillset was very much desired. So not only did Styx get a good job they enjoyed, but they'd get to have a chance to start the family they oh so craved.
"Wait, it's all found family?" You ask. I nod and smile. "Always has been."
More written below under the cut! I feel like this will be a long one, oops.
Kaito is a senior researcher and is in charge of the Greenhouse, which resides in the upper level of the science building, at the top of one of the facilities' towers. He's also a huge dad. Like, dang, that's a whole parent right there.
As a whole D16 has a lot of good, genuine people. But there are always assholes, and Styx, being pretty young and new was a little grating for some of their senior co-workers, especially when Styx is a snarky, precocious savant at 22 years old. (Graduated HS at 13, went to College shortly after, stayed obedient enough until they got their scholarship and got away like a bat out of hell). Styx also chafes under authority, so they and Dr. O'Malley tend to butt heads a lot over things. They also tend to push around the limits and find loopholes.
Styx was having a pretty bad day when they ran into Kaito for the first time, so they ended up snapping at their senior before freezing in terror when they glanced at Kaito's ID card and saw the Blue Triangle marking him as a Department Chairman.
The poor ballistics-trajectory specialist thought that they would've been fired right then and there and that they'd never get a chance to put their hours in for a chance to apply for a clone baby. So like, for a moment they were very convinced that they'd watch their whole future fall apart right in front of their very eyes.
Kaito's a good dude though. When he first joined up with the Nexus Core, he also remembers how hard it was to be a younger researcher and being surrounded by a bunch of entitled and smug senior scientists. So instead of getting upset, he pretty much took Styx under his wing. Kindred spirits and all that jazz.
Styx will often crash on the cot that Kaito has in his office. Kaito's domain is very green with vegetation and the sound of flowing water, so they find it very soothing to hide/hang out at. Sometimes Kaito will make tea and both of them can talk about work and bounce ideas off of each other.
"If any of you hurt my kid. Actually, if you hurt anyone in this continued manner born from something as trivial as jealousy," Kaito says, smiling softly, steel in his eyes. "I will make your future work. Very. Very. Very miserable. I promise that, and you all know, I do not break these promises lightly."
Flash forward 5 years, and Styx and Kaito are very close. Styx climbed the ranks of his department pretty quickly and applied for Hank. Styx sees Kaito as a parental figure and Kaito sees Styx as his kid/son. You can def catch Styx calling Kaito "Dad" on the regular.
(Styx also ends up gradually befriending a bunch of other people, but I'll get into those folks later when I finish their designs. I have like,,, 6 to concept. Double oops.)
After Hank was "born", If Styx was too overwhelmed, Kaito would also let Styx take a nap and watch over for Hank as well when the bean was still in the baby stage.
As Hank got older, Kaito ends up babysitting a lot for Styx whenever his adopted kid has to go to meetings or work on projects. He adores having Hank around, and always sends Styx a lot of pictures and regular updates when his son is out.
If anyone has got anything more specific that they'd like to ask, go for it! I'd love to answer any questions!
