i think romance is when you want to be near a person all the time. idk how to define romantic love and even though im in a relationship and i have crushes on people all the time and i definitely experience romantic attraction i can't tell what romance is. theres a david foster wallace about love being a measure of distance:

"... his hatred of being alone is a consequence of what his memoir will call his great intellectual concept: the distance at which we see each other, arrange each other, love. That love, he will say, is a federal highway, lines putting communities, that move and exist at great distance, in touch."

and i understand romance as being strong love that fills any distance between two people, no matter how big. its the act of bridging the gap between you and another person, even if that other person is on another continent.

sav, bestie you know i love being controversial (sometimes) and i know that some of these may get me tumblr-cancelled or cause a fandom riot because most of them will be about billy (and by extension, max), but that’s not my problem.

billy and max genuinely cared about each other. i know, some of you are gonna look at that and say “how the fuck is that true??” but trust me. it is. both of them were forced into a shitty situation, and often took things out on each other because they were both misguided and trying to navigate things on their own. neil and susan obviously favored max, often neglecting billy and making him grow up on his own and way too fast. he was handling full-fledged adult responsibilities by the time he was sixteen, and he shouldn’t have been. now while i think susan may have tried to evenly delegate her attention to both kids, neil completely prohibited that under some false pretense such as “billy needs to grow up” or “he doesn’t need a mother anymore”. any time max screwed up, billy was left to deal with it instead of neil and susan handling it themselves, like parents should, not older siblings (though i believe had it not been for neil, susan would’ve taken care of max herself— i have some very complicated opinions on susan, but that’s another story). every time billy acted out in violence, it was a defense and survival mechanism for him; and he probably did it quite often to protect max because he cared for her, and for the fact that if he didn’t, he’d face neil’s wrath for the nth time (i.e.: the fight at byers’ home with steve— which, in billy’s defense, was totally justified from his point of view). anyway, max and billy cared about each other in their own weird little way.

more on the topic of billy, he wasn’t racist and he didn’t target or dislike lucas simply because he was black. that’s just a bullshit reason that 98% of the fandom uses to justify why they hate billy because they couldn’t read context clues and use some critical thinking skills. he disliked lucas because he witnessed lucas and max arguing in the school parking lot, and lucas was upsetting max— and billy knew that it would be his ass if neil found out about it.

i think the whole “girlboss” angle they’re trying to do with nancy kinda sucks and it’s ruining her character. she was definitely a stronger character in season 2 than any other season.

the series started with will, and it should end with will. i said what i said.

max stabbing billy with a needle and syringe with no idea what was in it is not the girlboss moment y’all think it is. what was in that syringe could’ve killed him for all anyone knew.

the sauna scene was genuinely billy begging for max to help him because he didn’t know what was going on, until it wasn’t, and max knew that was billy and not the mindflayer.

speaking of the whole mindflayer thing, y’all can’t tell me that max didn’t genuinely care about billy when she said “i really hope it’s not you” in reference to the party suspecting that billy was the host.

oh and in season two when billy’s “threatening” to run over the boys?? y’all are delusional for thinking he really would lmao he’s an older brother and older brothers mess with their sisters like that. and he’s a seventeen year old with a cool, fast car. there’s no way he was gonna willingly get himself a vehicular homicide charge in a bumfuck town in indiana. y’all are dumb as shit for thinking he would. and did y’all notice when max grabbed the wheel and made the car swerve to avoid hitting them? billy could’ve easily gone against her force and kept the car on course, but he didn’t.

stancy shippers are essentially romanticizing a toxic relationship between two people who very clearly want different things for themselves and could never actually work, from a logical and realistic viewpoint.

on that note, stancy should not happen in season five. or ever again for that matter. fight me about it.

karen wheeler’s actions in season three can’t be justified. i’m not even gonna argue on this one with anyone because y’all know what happened. sure she chose her family in the end, but she was really about to go hook up with a freshly-18 year old man while being in her 40s…absolutely not, ma’am. don’t even get me started on the other pool-lurking moms.

the knock at the door was what kicked you out of your mental spiral, leaving your phone in your bed as it laid silent. if you’d been in a better state of mind, you would’ve realised the silence was a bad sign. you would’ve realised who was on the other side of the door, and you for damn sure wouldn’t have opened it.

your heart dropped as a dishevelled seonghwa stood at your door, eyes puffy and bloodshot whilst his body shook with sobs. before you could process it he had pulled you into a hug, snivelling onto your neck as he pressed kisses onto your skin.

15. Something you learned this year

Apparently I can write smut. Which was both incredibly relieving and also terrifying at the same time?

Or even the fact that people like my writing. Prior to posting fics, only high school English teachers had read my writing. So I’d never really gotten a response on it before. Didn’t know if it was any good. Didn’t really give it a worth while shot. All my friends were writers so I just assumed I was the odd one out.

But then I got tumblr.

And posted a fic just to see if it was worth continuing.

And learned that maybe I can write a little bit.

And that if I keep going. Maybe I can write a lot one day.

17. Fics you’ll continue next year

I’m gunna use this as a planned fics and continued fics question to keep track for myself cuz I will forget 😂😂

So!

I currently have two requests (literally how wild is that!!???) in my inbox that I have to brainstorm. One for JK and one for the UTWT couple.

I will also hopefully be much more active in updating TWWWBAATTA. (Ideally I get at least 6-8 chapters out this year)

As well as a collab that’s been in the works since maybe August?? It’s currently on hold due to life on both ends, but I love love LOVE the concept and the plot and everything about it so I’m excited to dig into that! It will also probably be my first darker work, so I’m stoked for that too! Trying out a new genre.

I have an (undisclosed member) fic in my head right now that I’m plotting out. (I’ve talked about it with you but I wanna keep it under wraps until I at least have a rough draft). It’s a winter themed fic so ideally I’ll have it out by at the latest, February. But if it’s later in the year, it’s later in the year.

And lastly, for planned works that is, I’m toying with the idea of potentially expanding the TDWV universe due to the wonderful reception of the world it takes place in.

23. Fics you wanted to write, but didn’t

The previously mentioned collab fic. I wanted to have at least one chapter of it out by the end of 2023. But then I got a new job and moved within a month of each other, and went from working one shift a week, to full time, and then the holidays happened and I ran out of free time.

My New Years Resolution this year was to try and write more/ create more. And I would really like to stick to that if I can. But with quality over quantity.

And then the undisclosed member fic, also previously mentioned. I’d hoped to have it done over my winter break from work. But timing and plans said no!

any reoccurring dreams?

yeah i have a few, there's one where i have to drive a car through a. Really cramped part of the city and there's loads of uphills and downhills and i keep almost crashing and sometimes im alone in the car sometimes there's passengers in the back and it always ends with me freewheeling down a hill heading straight for the sea LOL!!!!

and another one about me getting lost, again in a really busy part of the city, and im really young and therefore really small again and so i can't see over the crowd and i find my brother and my dad but they don't recognise me and i try speaking to them in english but they only speak greek so they don't understand what im saying and ive forgotten all my greek so i can't communicate with them and then i wake up. Which could mean nothing !!!!!!!!!

3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?

OKAY SO I WOULD DIVIDE THEM LIKE: For White since she is Mako's young sister I feel like she adores them, admires them since she was tiny bebe and just wants to be like them, travelling from one region to another doing what they like (fashion), gaining knowledge about it, meeting people that is also into that WAAA she just wants to be like them and so Mako always tries to support her and help her with her dreams too <3 Black probably only sees them as someone who is famous but doesn't really pays much attention to it and it's just like halooooo and doesn't treat them different from any other adults, maybe gets excited when they go to see Chrome because they bring chocolate for him HEHEH For Elesa you know how she is besties with them since they were kids so hehe and other characters would see Mako as just 'Elesa's old friend', at least that's how Emmet and Ingo met them, with time after Mako starts to get along with Emmet just thinks 'ooo this guy is so talented and interesting ooo let's spend time together' JSAHJASHJSA

10. how do the other characters feel about your self insert and f/o’s relationship?

In general I would say people think 'what the hell is this guy doing with the train guy' LIKE they are so different in so many aspects that I think people would be confused on how they even got together HSAHJSAHJ But to be more specific, firts: I think the first one to know about Mako and Emmet would've been Elesa and I KNOW when Mako told her she would start shaking them and asking them about everything (just as if they were teenagers again), Elesa would be so excited to know that her two friends were now together hehe. For Chrome I think it would be a similar reaction but I think he would tease Mako and Mako would never get what he is saying HSAHSAHAS OR JUST TEASES BACK WITHOUT NOTICING (dumb mf) On White's side I KNOW SHE WOULD BE SO CONFUSED AS WELL, LIKE the first time she saw Emmet he was this weird looking guy that scared her KJSJASJJSA. SHE ASKS MAKO 'uhmmm is he coming to the house now…?' Just give her time to get used to him! but even so, I think she is happy if Mako is happy hehe AND FOR LASSSSST INGO, I believe when he knew they were on a relationship he would walk to Mako, look directly at them in the eyes and tell them 'please be nice and patient with him' because he cares about his twin, also I believe he is really happy to see this side of Emmet, just happy for them wiwiwi

I know I made Mako wear mostly inspired on ganguro and gyaru in general BUT! he would wear all kind on styles, I think gyaru is the most seen in him but he would also wear outfits like this:

Mako's biggest fixation is fashion, he works non-stop on that but I think that he is also into marine biology just as hobby (one of the reasons their first journey was to Hoeen hehe)

i drink both tea and coffee. i will primarily drink cold sweet tea, but if i’m sick, sometimes i’ll drink hot tea with a little bit of lemon. as for coffee, i prefer it iced or cold brew, but i’ll never shy away from a hot cinnamon dolce latte.
