THINK POSITIVE! HUGS!

  Welcome, come inside, it is already warm outside and will reach over 100°Fahrenheit today. This has been the case all week but it is normal for this time of year. Until irrigation the humidity was low. Except for the Boise Valley, the area was part of the sagebrush steppe. Now it is an accumulation of small and a mixture of farm land. In the first picture note Robert with Kato on his leash. This vacant lot was Kato’s favorite place.

Select your choice of a cold drink or not coffee or tea. Let’s go out on the patio were we can set in the shade and watch the activity in the parking area. Yesterday, a pair of quail and seven chicks were seen.

If we were having coffee/tea, I would Welcome back Diane and give Emily a big Thank You for hosting Coffee Share. My week was quiet and  I did catch up on some reading. My conference about caregivers went alright. I agree to try again. All I will say Medicare rules are crazy. I have a couple of collapse vertebra in my back. Other parts of my body are deteriorating. My mind is okay, I am not as fast I was. I turned 86 last week. Robert will be he same age the last of September.

We went out to eat yesterday at Applebee. I had want a steak but they had marinated all there need with a sauce that has gluten so I settle for a delicious chicken and shrimp meal. We stopped at Fred Meyers and I purchased a white orchid. It has a lot of buds so it should last a long time.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR ECLIPSE? It seems the central part of Idaho will have total eclipse. Weekly we are getting up dates on it. The data where totality is expected is in the rural section enter by two lanes roads. The authorities are expecting one million visitors. Even on  normal weekends the roads are closed by any traffic tried-up. They suggest having food and water for 72 hours with you. Don’t park anywhere, make sure you have permission to park, if not you might be arrested for trespassing. I am not sure what Boise will have. My College is hosting a special view in Hailey. I remember the last eclipse of the sun. I never thought I would be alive to see this one. Emily have good view in North Carolina.

I am behind in my Goodreads challenge, about 6 or 7. I usually read a book a day but lately just a portion.

Pages, I have discovered a use for them. There are 3 pages published. You will find them just under my main  pictures of books. My July, August and September Reading Lists. The Date listed is wthe day of publication. I will be adding other books. Books are added the day I accepted a book which will vary. This will help me from trying to read every book out there. I read mostly mysteries without graphic volience and sex. I will mention any of these I find, along with foul language.

Some concept art for Ghost Orchid pre/during story design and post story design.

Starclove, while having dark themes, is ultimately meant to be positive- so there likely won't be any major design changes. I like the idea of scars, but Ghost didn't get any because they have a complicated design as is!

(Also it is two different pair of pants, I imagine they have multiple pairs of the same clothes)

"13. What song do you associate with your OC? Why do you associate this with them?"

This doesn't have a character attached, so I'll answer for a few!

Suneater (Leanna Firestone) is a song I associate with Ghost Orchid, specifically with them singing this about Astro. I've always imagined the two of them as a sun/moon duo. Ghost and Astro's relationship is probably the most important parts of their story- they would not be who they are without the other.

I'm Ready Now (Dodie) is a song I associate with Astro Valerian and in a similar vein as Ghost's, Astro singing this about Ghost. Again, they would be fundamentally different people without the other. Ghost helped Astro out so much and Astro will never know how to properly repay them.

Brutus (Buttress) is a song I associate with Alicia Zinnia. I haven't touched much on Alicia here but when I first heard this song, I went "Oh this is SO Alicia." So much so I actually used a lyric as inspiration for a drawing I made of them!

Two Birds (Regina Spektor) is a two-for-one deal of oc association because I associate it with both Kimon and Keith Kaake. I haven't touched much on their story, Hometown Blues, but I think you can garner the two's dynamic from the song very well.

Some honorable mentions are "I know I'm a wolf" for Maitho Asker, "Curses" (The Crane Wives) for Myles Rosenstein, and "Always Come Back" (Natewantstobattle) for Charles Rosenstein. I love connecting songs to ocs <3

Morning Routine, a short story (694 words) about the average morning routine of the Magnolia Household!

Ghost mumbles softly, rubbing their eyes before opening them slowly. They glance at the clock before softly groaning.

“Trotro,” They yawn, poking the fellow Starclovian in the side, “Time to get up.”

Astro groans. “No.” They huff, pulling Ghost closer and nuzzling their head. “I wanna sleep in.”

Ghost lays there for one moment before pushing themself away. “It's your turn to feed the chickens and I gotta feed the Potato twins.” They say, removing Astro's paws from their shoulders and sitting up. The aforementioned “Potato Twins” were already sitting up in their cage, eyes sparkling with excitement as they waited for Ghost to get their food.

“Ughhh. Fine.” Astro grumbles, sitting up and rubbing their eyes. They stretch as Ghost hops off the bed. Astro gets up themself, looking at the bed and sighing before heading out the door behind the other Starclovian.

The two of them walk down the stairs, Astro still trying to mentally wake up and Ghost already rambling, mainly about what they thought they should feed their ferrets. Astro wasn't particularly processing any of it, but still nodded along.

“-aaaand I think I'll put a hard-boiled egg in there, too! They haven't had one in awhile and I think they deserve it.” Ghost finishes right before they enter the kitchen, tail swishing. “Oh, morning!”

“Morning!” Charlie chimes, already at the counter and fixing breakfast. “I'm making apple pancakes because they were about to go bad. There's some already done!” They point at the plate of already finished pancakes, smiling.

“Thanks, Chars!” Ghost smiles, grabbing a plate, putting two pancakes on it, and then sitting down. Astro does the same, sitting next to them. “Is Blix not up yet?”

“Right here. Morning.” Blix yawns, walking in and sitting down. Charlie picks up another plate, puts a pancake on it, and then sits it in front of Blix. They smile in turn, thanking them.

After Charlie finishes cooking, they sit down with the others. The four of them eat in comfortable silence, just like always. Astro is the one to break the silence once they finish.

“Seedling coming over today?” They ask, flicking their tail. The other three exchange a glance.

“Iiiii…don't think so? Maybe? I don't think they said anything about coming by today.” Blix replies. Ghost shrugs.

“Alrighty.” Astro stands up, stretching once again. “I'm gonna go feed the chickens, then.”

“Oh, yeah! I need to feed my ferrets.” Ghost adds, also standing up, before pausing. “...I forgot to boil an egg.”

“Boil it now and give it to them later, maybe?” Charlie suggests, Ghost nodding and grabbing a pot. Astro walks out of the kitchen toward the back door.

They slide the door open, grimacing at the rain. “Guess there'll be worms for the chickens.” They mumble, moving one of their wings to be angled above their head. They head to the shed, opening the door.

“Thank the deities for Blix making the feed mix yesterday…” They smile, grabbing the bucket and moving to the chicken coop. “Wake up, time for breakfast!”

They chuckle as the five chickens swarm their feet, clucking as they watch Astro fill up the several feeders in the coop. With some more clucking, they turn to their feeders and start chowing down.

Astro watches them for a moment before exiting the coop and moves over to the water pump. They fill up the bucket and go back to the coop, filling up the water dishes.

“Enjoy your breakfast.” They say, leaving the coop a final time. They put the bucket up and go back to the house.

“Astro, you're soaked!” Charlie huffs as Astro steps in and closes the door.

“Not really–”

“Go take a shower!”

Astro rolls their eyes at the command, but nods anyway. Charlie huffs again, turning toward Blix, a boardgame laid out across the living room table with the two sitting at either side.

After Astro takes their shower, they come back out to see Ghost on the couch, watching Blix and Charlie play their game. Ghost smiles and waves at Astro who smiles back, moving over to sit next to them to also watch the two play.
