Vaggie merely rolled her eye at Alastor's skepticism, but she didn't talk back. He had all the reasons to believe that she didn't have a magic cure for his condition, and she did not. In the past months she had learnt a lot of things she didn't know about herself, her kind, her nature, which spoke in volume of how much she still didn't know.

However, she had a little hunch she wanted to test out, assuming that the demon would have let her.

His hesitance and reluctance were grating on her nerves, but the former Exorcist just stood her ground, patiently waiting for Alastor to make up his mind and do as he had been told. Trying to insist or to rush him would have been counterproductive, because it would have probably made him even more defensive.

Still, when he actually complied without any further objection, she found herself surprised. She was glad he had given in so easily, but she would have lied if she had said that she wasn't expecting him to fight her more.

"...Shit," was the first world that tumbled out of her lips as her gaze was met with the gruesome, still very much open wound. "You know what I said about you being an idiot? That is proof I'm right."

She followed the words with an exasperated sound, but then her wings unfolded and spread, their tips touching the wall at each side of Alastor's body, shielding them from their surroundings. Not a mean to trap him, or a threat. Her muscles were relaxed and he could have easily pushed them away, had he chosen to.

It was a show of protection, for him and his privacy both.

"I'm going to touch you, okay?" She warned, lifting her hands, but keeping them away, waiting for his consent first. "Small wounds caused by angelic steel heal on their own, even if they are a bitch to deal with. But something like that...It's gonna need a little help."

And that was probably a gross understatement.

"Adam really did a number on you. You're lucky to be still alive."

That momentary pause spoke volumes of how he looked in that moment, enough so that his arm wrapped protectively across his chest as though protecting the wound, his brows furrowing as he watched for further reaction. Pity made him feel disgustingly weak, he'd simply not accept it- so it was almost relieving that she'd respond with the same sharpness that he'd grown accustomed to from here. Only the wall behind him stopped him from trying to step back as she approached, some deep-seated defense mechanism prompting him to mantaining his distance. A prey response he was glad had been subdued. It didn't hide the shocked look as she demanded he strip, that hand tightening in his lapels just slightly. -- ❝I highly doubt there's anything you can do to fix the damage that has been done to me, unless that's something else you've been hiding.❞ It was a defensive remark, something pointed in return in some attempt to ward her away, be enough of a nuisance to not be worth the bother.

Still, was there any point in hiding it when she already was well aware of it? If there was even a chance she had ways of alleviating the pain he was regularly experiencing then wasn't it worth a chance? With a resigned static huff, gaze pointed away to avoid seeing her judgement, he drew his hands to his buttons to unfasten them and work off his jacket, then his shirt. Underneath was a raw wound slashed across his chest, neatly stitched in areas- but others pulled or torn from his own overexertion. He should have been resting but to him that meant admitting defeat. -- ❝It refuses to heal as it should- I'm assuming due to the nature of the damage.❞

violet lives with her dad. her mom died when she was 7 or so. violet was greatly affected by this as she was super close with her mom. her and her dad just... don't know how to connect with each other. theres love, but its distant and awkward. she honestly gets along better with red's mom.

daphne has a large family. she lives with her mom and sister, kris. ethan and lyra stay over frequently enough to count as residents, with lyra genuinely living there fulltime. she's also related to wallace and lisia in hoenn, and i made wallace and lisia related to wally so it's a whole family tree. theres also [redacted]. her mom and dad divorced when she was still a baby. he's not in the picture at all anymore. daphne thinks he can go eat shit. besides that, she's very close to all of them, even the ones in hoenn. (minus wally. his poor health meant he was never able to visit sootopolis and trips to petalburg were rare) family means a lot to her.

ivy actually has 2 parents who are still together! everyone be shocked! norman and her mom, of course. she's very much a daddys girl and always jumped at the chance to help norman out. not as close to her mom, but it's still a good relationship.

chryssa has her mom and her twin brother lucas. it is not a well adjusted family. their dad died shortly before they were born and johanna did not take it well. johannas something of a contest stage mom to chryssa while pretending lucas doesn't exist since she only wanted one girl and not a pair of twins. chryssa hates her mom and has very complicated feelings about lucas.

ieva has her mom and 3 brothers. matas and marius (older twin brothers) and ramsey (younger). she gets along well with her brothers! she's especially close with matas, tho she spends more time with ramsey since they're closer in age and he still lives at home. she was very close to her dad who died when she was 12ish. he was her hero growing up and his death put her into something of a depression. close to her mother as well, though she was always a daddys girl.

bryony only has her mom, though hugh's basically a brother. it's a very chill relationship between them. has not an inkling who her father is and doesn't give a shit.

carmella also only has her mom. they're very close due to them being the only constant in each others life for so long. grace is honestly kind of overprotective at times and carmella pretends to hate it, but she secretly loves it. im going back and forth on her possible dad so.

kiana is also very close to her mom. similar to carmella, they moved around a lot so they were each others sole consant. her father was giovanni and considering how young she was when they left him, kiana actually looks back on him semi-fondly. when she meets him again, not so much and she realizes with hindsight how messed up her early childhood was. also lives with her grandmother but they aren't super close. kiana just hasnt spent much time around her. also has a half brother in silver. once they meet, she thinks he's the coolest ever and silver has no idea how to respond to the blatant hero worship.

lili is adopted by a single mother, but she also has a secret sibling who wasnt adopted alongside her (bede). gets along well enough with her mum, alongside her grandparents who she also lives with. does not get along as well with bede. that is a supremely rocky relationship for quite a while and even once they come to terms with things they're more likely to argue then get along.

jess lived with her mom. she didn't enjoy it. why do i keep giving the sinnoh oc's horrible mothers. rip. when she's yeeted to the past and experiences some memory troubles, one of the biggest holes is memories of her mother. this gives her a sense of relief and she's not wholly sure why. sometimes, she feels bad about that and wonders what it says about her. anyways, gets pseudo-adopted by laventon and in turn pseudo-adopts vessa as a little sister.

she's the one who started it all. i saw purple sea slugs and thought hey i could make a coroika oc out of this so i did. she's the leader of family and she's the smuggiest bitch ever. she just. laughs at your quote "poor gameplay" when you've got her cornered. she's just like that honestly. even tho she's very annoying at times 'cause of her very unbearable attitude she somehow made it to be that one 15 y.o. internet mom friend to her team. she just listens to her teammates arguing at the side and then goes like 'so we decided then?' and just . doesn't care. she's funny and isn't dependable at all but she's the mom one. she's 14 and she's cheerful and just enjoys the atmosphere. it's like. nylon and purble are toxic af to other players but she somehow feels at home with them. maybe cause she knows they will actually threaten someone if they hurt her. she would cry over a dropped ice cream and even if purble seems like she REALLY doesn't give a fuck she'll buy her another one to cheer her up, nylon would too and would go like 'fuck it' and buy each member of his team one cause why not.

she miiiight have a whole arc going on... where she takes one of vintage's golden egg and grows it into a salmonid cause she's one of those kids who's very into playing mother with baby dolls. shit could go wrong a lot, but stripes found a little support in my other ocs i posted here before: iwashi is just a designer who loves wild clothing ideas and oh boy making clothes for a salmonid? that sounds interesting. she's making simple clothes for now, but maybe she'll get into it and make more(not like it's really that needed...). oshizushi is an octarian from octo valley who has some expirience with salmonids, she can tell some very funny salmonid biology facts (the ones that no-one in her class wanted to hear lol) and she can definitely tell if something's wrong with stripes' daughter...bubbles! (stripes is a dumb child i remind you.)

oshizushi doesn't approve it much and views it as wrong, though she does wonder if you can actually grow a salmonid child in inkling society. she does what she can to make it as safe to bubbles as possible. she would actually take the responsibility if anything went wrong, because she doubts stripes means it when she says that she'll do the same, cause...child.

bubbles does grow into a slightly weird form of salmonid, but she's kinda healthy? and fresh?

So! I think Claude should get to plot and scheme and be a little vile. Assemble whatever is (if there is anything) left of the anti-imperial Alliance forces, the Adrestians that can't stand what their emperor is doing/has done, and the vestiges of a kingdom who only fell once their every last hope was slaughtered. I think he should get to bring those people together, should they exist, and promise them a second chance at getting their homes back.

If they're willing to break a few self-imposed rules to get there.

I think Claude should go back to Almyra and become a fucking terror. Everything still hurts him, when he's treated like shit, but now instead of using that as motivation to make the world better....it's reasoning to become a person that can tolerate it not because he's overly resilient and kind, but because he's willing to backstab and threaten and spit venom just as they are.

I think Claude should get to use his heritage as a trump card as he announces plans to drive out the Empire by force. Because of the boy left in him, he gives her one shot and one shot only: retreat, or be felled by the axes and claws of the Almyran army.

She would call it a bluff.

Claude would give the go ahead, and hundreds of thousands of little dark shapes soar over the Throat.

They're given express instructions to stay the fuck away from civilians and to preserve buildings--especially the castle in Fhirdiad.. The streets Dimitri would talk about walking through when if he ever made it to his coronation.

Claude would wonder if Dimitri had had an inkling about the war, or if there was another battle he'd been fighting without Claude knowing a thing.

The Empire is, frankly, trampled. They were worn thin from the original war, and overconfident because their enemies and either bended the knee or had their throats slit.

Claude knew this. Hit them where it hurt the most. Pried out the Empire's rule from Fódlan root by root, leaf by leaf. He had to step in to take her place when they were quashed, which hadn't quite been the goal, but it was certainly an inevitability.

Dubbed the Two-Faced King, Claude's reign was either loved or hated. He was the man that broke the Empire's control in half, but he also caused more strife and destruction when all they had wanted was peace. As time went on, it became clear that the progress of the Empire as it was would have caused far more destruction than Claude's reign--rebellions had already started breaking out by this point--and Claude's name became less synonymous with cruelty and more with tenacity.

There are rumours, of course, of Claude having a strange, bony lance perched above his throne in Almyra, and his being sighted wearing a heavy fur cloak whenever he had to arrange meetings in Faerghus. Some see them as spoils of war. Should he have any friends left, they would never ask any questions about them. How he had even gotten Dimitri's things...If he'd gone through the trouble, after all this, it was best to let him have those things in peace.

For Claude, they're protection against the nightmares that tell him what life would have been like if justice had had even a slightly greater chance at prevailing.

He doesn't know if Dimitri would have liked this world he's created. Claude wished he had the luxury of caring outside the walls of his room and the realm of this dreams.

Hello! I’m back for our monthly chat :) The chapter really started off strong with a Gureshin flashback. Love a good reminder of Guren’s motives even if we don’t have any more info on his plan. Also love the immediate switch to Yu and “Mikapoo” being silly. And the way they addressed Yu’s maturity like we’ve talked about. I personally don’t wanna see Shinya and Yu together, but her flustering compared to Yu’s obliviousness was cute in a “Oh, Sweetheart 🙃” kinda way lmao. However, I am super onboard with Detective Mika tryna put the pieces together . He really seems to be the most in tune with the natures of some of the ppl he’s around. Plus I’m still obsessed with his current character design (his tail brings me constant joy 🥺). Krul immediately attacking him was a really cute way of checking in with him. And Ferid’s entrance was just golden (poor Kimizuki 😂) even if I am very confused as to how he plans to bring them all along in a truck with seating for 3 ppl max lmao. At least Ferid and Guren are making their partnership extremely clear; although, I kinda doubt that they intend to tell them the whole truth like they claim they will. But it would be helpful for us readers if they came clean lol. Overall I found this chp. pretty cute. Still waiting on actual answers tho!!

Hello! Sorry for the late reply yet again, but the first week of the year is generally a busy one for me.

They really had to hit us hard with Shinya's death this month between Vampire Reign and Catastrophe at 16 didn't they? It hurts. PLEASE STOP (but not actually). The immediate transition afterwards was whiplash worthy, but it was a good form of whiplash. "Mikapoo" is certainly an... interesting nickname lol. I wonder if it'll stick.

Shinoa and Yuu were pretty cute. Gotta love how much of an idiot Yuu is with this kind of thing. Sometimes it can be (and is) overdone, but with stuff like this interaction, it's cute.

Detective Mika! We, mainly you, were right about that! The only new thing we learned this month was the fact that Mahiru was apparently watching that night all those years ago, but as of now, it's not a huge thing. It makes sense that she was there given that Guren was there. What I find strange is those weird things floating in the background in that flashback.

They weren't present in the first chapter, so I'm thinking it has something to do with Yuu's memories/his head since that's where we first saw them (if that makes sense). I suppose it could be a retcon too, but either way, we won't get answers at the moment, so no use dwelling really. As for Mika being more in tune with people, I suppose you're right. There's also the fact that he's more suspicious of people so he's more actively paying attention to them compared to Yuu who doesn't really care to pay attention to that sort of thing even though he's shown himself to be quite observant and aware at times.

Cute way to check in on him? Yes. I suppose lmao. It's certainly one way to do it. The sentiment was heartwarming at least. Vampires may not have emotions, but Krul cares about Mika to at least some degree and that's apparent.

I absolutely love how every time Ferid shows up now it's like "Guys! Stranger danger is back!" Never won't be funny. Ah, the truck. You ever play gen 3 (ORAS/RSE) pokemon? It's like that. Just shove them in the back of the van. It'll be fine.

Overall, this chapter was definitely more of a filler chapter, but I really enjoyed it! It's the kind of reset the manga needed after dealing with the First the past few months, but it is still kinda annoying that we were baited into thinking we were going to get answers from the First last month then didn't. It is what it is though. I agree in that I highly doubt that Guren and Ferid are going to share everything at this point as there seems to ALWAYS be more to the story. I have a bit of an inkling that the First may fill in some gaps/give another side to things for the readers if we ever get that explanation. The manga has set both Yuu squad and Co. and the vampires (Rigr and Co.) up for exposition dumps. Kagami could do them back to back if he wanted. I'm also curious about where Guren and Ferid are going to take everyone. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what next month brings.

ROKA/OLIVIA/AGENT 3. A bit of a lovable goof, with caring too much for her little inkling body. Fierce in battle. Yes, she gets the scar in the OE arc, but the OE arc goes a bit differently in the story due to... reasons? yeah, reasons. She goes missing for a full year and that’s when Akim takes up the Agent 4 handle.

MINT TEA/PAIVA. A bit of a gossip, but also a wall of support. Wants to cheer everybody up, but is hiding issues of her own. Close friends with Roka. A possible ship with roka, as well. She’s the second leader of the team, and the only one in contact with Roka, right up until her disappearance. Oops. Literally the only one with a picture like this.

GLASSES/HENRIETTA. I did not know that the splatoon manga glasses was known as glasses, and this is awkward. and also full moon is a thing and AGH. anyway glasses. Seems to be a sarcastic little piece of shit, but honestly it’s just a front to her inner core. Of someone who likes to snipe and have fun. Wonder what caused her to be like that? hm.

Bandanna/Daphyne. She exudes an aura of edge, an aura of Not Caring... but she really does care... a lot more than she lets on. Will Fight anybody who disses her pals. Honestly a teen girl at heart. Loves black.

RETRO/AKIM/AGENT 4. A bit of a prick, but the kind of prick you know doesn’t mean his words. He’s kind of skilled in battle with his roller, which makes this W O R SE !! a big fan of music, and gaming, and also being gay. he makes jokes about that a lot.

SPECS/MARK: you know the stereotypical nerd? stays in a bedroom most of the day, tinkering around with stuff? That’s Specs! He likes to play video games with Retro, and... oh, look at that, another ship. Wow. Analytical!

SUNNY/GWEN. Similar to another person, she appears to not care, while caring a lot. Apathetic seeming, but able to come out of her core to care. Probably has a lot of interests from her girlfriend...

RAINY/SARAH. She’s fueled by a firey passion most of the time, but it tends to fizzle out quickly, and that’s how she and Sunny met, basically. Not pictured is the Traditional Headband she wears. Yes, she and Sunny are girlfriends. yay matching outfits.

PAINT! Er, she looks... not like this as much? Her gloves cover her fingers, and her hairstyle is the enemy octo hairstyle! In the ‘first game’ aka the first arc, she actually wears the paintball mask which covers her whole face, and also mains chargers. She just switched to brella in the second game. Shy, kind of nervous, but willing to put her foot down when push comes to shove. Er, she also has to be pushed to that point. Poor girl.

FISHFRY. A super out-there kinda kid. sorry, some ocs don’t have much personality. He will Protecc Paint with his life. Probably does research and field expeditions for her.

PEAKS. Proud of her role in battle, and probably the first one Paint trusted with the secret of her being an octoling, and the one best fit to break the news.

VECTOR. Full Attacc mode. Fueled by battle, loves to battle. Whenever Paint is taken off guard, she’s probably the one there to back her up.

ZEKKO. Leader of the Marksmen. Sorry there isn’t much about him. he’s definitely gay tho? Loves bothering the other players with his gun.

CANCEL. Tends to ignore the outside world for her daydreams, even in battles, and still does well?? how does this team function

Ah, this is how they function. PARKA. Aka the straight person- well, they’re nonbinary and are hiding their ponytail in that hat of theirs. The person who sets the team straight and directs them in the right direction. Beakons help.

Zink. Just as odd as the rest of his team. He says his headband helps him, when it very clearly doesn’t. Or maybe it does and its just a hidden condition. Who knows? He’s just a bit bizarre.

BERRY. Leader of her team, she’s Suspicious of everything, and fierce in battle. Loves being Warm....

Olive. Er, he has the wrong ink color, and his eyes are blinking. It’s better like this instead of the WRONG PIECE OF HEADGEAR. Suave and cool, and yet constantly bickers with Berry. Ah, sibling culture. Super strong. A bit of a brat, but he won’t press on Berry’s anxious triggers. That’s Just Rude.

JELLY. Sometimes called Baby because of just how precious she acts. Will kick people if she has to.

SHRIMP. AKA... well. You know that headcanon that Pearl, Emperor, and Prince are siblings? Well, Shrimp’s their cousin. He’s got the short genes. He tries to compensate for it by being loud, and is often jokingly called Pearl’s cousin. Likes telling tales. That are often mostly true.

SPLATOON 2 TEAMS

HOOK/ATA/AGENT 8. A soft and kind soul, friendly and loves to talk more than take action, but when she takes action... whooo. she knows how to take action. If she’s angry, you don’t want to be around. Mostly quiet. Another possible ship with Roka.

YAMAGIRI/ADRIAN. Confident, and a bit cocky, but it’s mostly only a bit of exaggeration: he loves to stick to his ideals, and truly believes himself to be carrying those out to the best of his ability. Stupidly loyal to his friends.

TOOTHPICK/NOELANI. Two words to describe her: mom friend. Caring, worrying for everybody that crosses her vision, analytical to a stupid degree. Strong, so she can help throw her friends into a food cart so they can EAT FOOD. 

OCEANIC/VICTOR. A soft-spoken octoling, but is willing to do whatever it takes for his friends to Remain Happy, happy to shoulder their burdens. Hides his emotions under his big ol’ hat, though if you look under it, he’s probably a blubbering mess. Whenever angered, his voice seems to drop octaves and inflection. That’s terrifying!

BLOCKER. Oh my god, he’s a party animal. Oh my god. He likes doing memes and tricks, and, you know who this should remind you of? Aloha. Anyway, Blocker’s well known for his tricks with his brella, and his excellent dance skills... which also aids him in battle!

FUGU. He has a Big Ol Crush on Blocker, and I don’t think Blocker’s noticed yet. Oof. Kind of quiet and likes to observe before hopping into things, useful for a blaster with such a short range...? Awkward, but he’s trying to get better.

SEA SLUG. Constantly on the go, constantly moving, she’s gotta Go Go Go!! Hyperactive, probably can be seen stimming. Has an attachment to her gun.

LEAF. Seemingly hard-boiled, constantly huffing about something or other. She’s- she’s a Rider Tsundere, that’s all I can describe her as. Her friendships with Blocker the Party Master and Sea Slug have definitely Lightened her up. Still a little bit of a grump?

ARROW. Dependable. You can depend on him to tell you when you’re doing some Bad Shit, Stop That.

HOTHOUSE. A... a bit of a flirt, and a good punster. two things that shouldn’t be combined into one girl.

TACKLE VISOR. Keeps their face hidden purposefully, which hides their non-standard hairstyle. Rough and tough, a sneaky little bastard. You know, despite the TACKLE VISOR on their head.

MATCHA. A silly little guy. The oblivious one that somehow still manages to cooperate with Hothouse’s jokes anyway. May be faking obliviousness...

HICKORY. Such a casual guy. Him and Blocker are probably pals. Party pals. Would drink your soda on accident and then apologize.

DO-RAG. oh my god, look, it’s a lesbian. She loves to show off, and is super strong. Could probably lift her teammates above her head. Actually can’t see much without her glasses, they’re made for her weird-ass eyes.

REDLEAF. He looks like the type of guy who hyperfocuses on everything and has to be told to back off, but he’s not trying to be creepy. Soft. Would memorize your food favorites and cook it for you.

CLAMS. He. he loves being super fancy. Not because he thinks he’s above others, he really, really loves the aesthetic of it! He and Do-Rag fight over which splatling is better sometimes. And then help each other score dates.

EGG. Super silly, has probably eaten a raw egg whole on a dare. Easily dared into things, though this means she’s very resilient. Can and Will say silly things just to confuse people.

CARROT. Helps out with Egg’s jokes. Has shoved an entire carrot down her gut before. Egg and her were actually friends before they both traveled to the surface. They are... bad influences on each other.

RAINBOW: He’s a casual gay. I- uh. He’s super fun in battles, and is often the one daring Egg and Carrot to do things because he loves putting it on whatever the octo media is. Loves sandals, hates his toes feeling constricted.

CANARY. Oh my god this is a swamp gremlin. You know the meme versions of agent 4? that, times like 100. Jesus. This team is crazy.

SEASHELL. Doesn’t use the deco because her teammates described what the burstbomb and carbon did to people and she doesn’t wish to cause people harm....

JADE. he’s blue ba due be- i mean. he’s a good singer, but still learning the ropes of his new weapon.

DEEPSEA. A friend. The dad friend. Will tell jokes to make you feel better, but always a shoulder to lean on. Always will wear silly clothes too.

FORGE. ..... a guy of few words.... kind of like skull. doesn’t really talk much, but evidently is a good prankster and loves spicy things. Will tuck you into bed and then doodle on your face.

Batman hated when his job put him in positions like this. Positions where he was forced to work or make deals with one of his many enemies. It was a painful enough experience to do that… but he had to say there was new level of pain added to it all when the criminal he had to strike a deal with was Edward Nygma, aka the Riddler, who was arguably one of the most annoying rogues he had to deal with on a somewhat regular basis, which was saying a lot.

But as he constantly lectured Tim on a daily basis, sometimes a man had to do something he really didn’t want to do if it meant getting a job done. Edward was obnoxious, sure, but he was also incredibly smart and had loads of connections and information on practically every corner of Gotham, which Batman needed right now.

Harley Quinn was out and about again and he needed to know where she could be hiding so he could collect her and place her back in her cell at Arkham. Much to his dismay though, she had gotten a lot craftier lately and she had gotten a lot better at covering her tracks compared to when she first started her criminal career. She had proven that even with Joker gone and God knows where, she could handle a crime syndicate on her own. Honestly, he hadn’t expected much of her criminal career when Joker fell off the radar. He supposed this was in a way karma for underestimating one of his rogues. They always managed to be full of surprises.

Unfortunately for her though, crafty or not, even she couldn’t hide from all of Riddler’s feelers. Batman didn’t know how the man managed to recruit as many people as he did with so many various backgrounds. Most rogues, when getting henchmen, would usually stick to thugs and skilled gunmen who were looking for any excuse to hurt people while getting paid for it. Those like Oswald Cobblepot, Joker, or Two-Face, who had a bit of extra cash lining their pockets could afford to even hire a mercenary or two. Occasionally they managed to lure in a psychopathic engineer or two, but they kept things simple with their hired help. Don’t get him wrong, he knew from personal experience that Edward had quite a few thugs and gunmen and stuff himself in his little army. However, his reach was much larger than just that. Riddler’s reach spread all across the job market: fast food employees, businessmen, rocket scientists, strippers… anyone could become a Riddler spy or employee it seemed.

Batman knew he could spend several months trying to weed through all of Riddler’s employees and he would never come close to catching them all. Unlike other rogues, Riddler’s employees weren’t always decked out in lime-green or sticking out like peacocks amongst a crowd of people. No, they were subtle and nearly invisible. Chances were, Harley herself had probably unknowingly hired a couple of Riddler moles and snitches herself. Even if she didn’t (which was statistically unlikely), Riddler no doubt knew where she was. He had monitors everywhere both above and below Gotham. Every time Batman knocked out the servers, the Riddler would just seem to fix it again. The man always seemed to want to know what everyone in Gotham was doing.

If Harley was in Gotham still, Riddler knew where she was, and seeing as he had no other leads to go on (every clown on the street he beat up either had no idea where she was holed away, simply taking orders from a messenger he had yet to catch, or were just simple street thugs wanting to carry on the Joker moniker now that he was gone), he unfortunately found himself having to rely on Riddler’s knowledge base.

But even though he knew he had to put the citizens of Gotham over his own pride, that didn’t make this any situation less frustrating… especially when Edward looked so smug, like a cat who caught the canary. A part of him was already itching to connect his fist into Edward’s nose or teeth… but he had to be mature.

“So that’s how you heroes play, huh? You criticize and demonize my methods all until you suddenly need me… and then you come crawling over to me begging me to help you and conveniently forget the fact you’ve physically assaulted me multiple times and-”

“Can it, Nygma, are you helping me or not?” Batman interjected, annoyance coating his gruff voice. He knew once Edward got started, he could ramble on for a surprisingly long time and Batman would rather spare himself from the monologue full of insults about his apparent lack of intelligence and brutish nature. He saw a look of anger flicker through Edward’s green eyes and for a moment, Batman was actually afraid he might’ve made the man mad enough to refuse his offer, and then immediately got disgusted that he had to feel that way. He hated having to feel dependent on a rogue.

Of course, if Riddler refused, he could do tracking of his own, but it could take quite a while before he got a satisfactory answer and by that time, Harley might execute her plan and slaughter people. Batman really didn’t want to live with the guilt that his pride was what caused people to die.

Thankfully, Riddler merely said, “Still rude as ever i see, Batman. No matter… I will agree to help you… under one condition of course!” Puffing out his chest he said, “We are enemies after all! I expect a form of repayment of some kind as-”

“I am not doing any dirty work for you, Nygma. I am not willing to become a pawn in your silly games,” Batman ground out immediately. He knew coming here was a mistake…

Edward immediately raised his hands up and hurriedly said, “No, no! It’s nothing like that! What I want is-”

“I’m not bringing you along either for the job,” Batman said, cutting him off once more. For some reason, Edward seemed obsessed with tagging along on missions at times. Batman couldn’t tell if the man was simply bored or if he was just wanting to study Batman’s methods so he could use them against him but-

Riddler’s face was red as a tomato at this point from frustration and anger. Fists clenched, he snapped, “If you would shut your trap for a second, then you would find out I don’t want that either. Geez… and you people say I have the blabbermouth…”

Batman was already wanting to leave, but he had to admit, he was curious on just what Riddler was wanting now. Riddler hadn’t been causing any trouble since his release from Arkham… at least none that Batman could beat him up and throw him back for… but perhaps Riddler giving him an idea of what he wanted, then he could get an angle on him and what he was planning. So, forcing himself to stay grounded, he said, “So what is it exactly that you’re wanting then, Edward?”

Edward’s face morphed from an expression of frustration to a grin of excitement that was so intense that Batman couldn’t help but feel somewhat disconcerted. What did the scrawny rat want? Raising a gloved index finger up, Edward declared, “What I want Dark Knight in return for my services is… a kiss.”

Batman couldn’t say he found himself struck speechless all that often… but that had certainly did it. Part of him wondered if what he had heard was even real. He discreetly pinched himself on the leg to confirm with himself that he was indeed awake and this was not some weird, surreal dream. Edward was still there clearly feeding on his reaction smugly and he did not awaken.

He always had somewhat of an inkling of an idea that Edward for some reason harbored some feelings for him. He wasn’t blind. As mentioned before, the man seemed to be making extra efforts to tag along on missions. When he wasn’t doing that and Edward was doing his usual habit of causing trouble, Batman noticed that the man seemed trying harder to impress him in a way… as if seeking approval in a way. He supposed that was better than Edward trying to squash him with a giant compressor or something. Even when they had confrontations, he saw Edward attempt to be more chatty than usual.

And he still refused to bring up the time Edward had used his riddles and traps to wine and dine him.

He had seen all the signs beforehand, but they had all been subtle enough to easily disregard. He never expected Edward to go the full on blatant route. Batman kept hoping for Edward to start laughing and reveal that this had all been one big joke and say what he really wanted… but the man was showing no signs of it being one.

Maybe this was an elaborate trap. Maybe Pamela Isley and Edward had teamed up and she gave him a lip balm full of mind-control particles and…

Okay, even he knew he was stretching there.

At worst, he could see Riddler doing this to humiliate him in front of the Rogues Gallery or Gotham or something… but even that was slim seeing as he knew Edward would much prefer to do that in an intellectual manner instead. Plus, if he was the one being kissed, he would get just as much backlash and reaction so he didn’t see how this would benefit him that much at all. Even if Edward simply spread it around… who would believe him? Certainly not the citizens of Gotham who saw him as a looney… and certainly not the rogues who probably had seen Edward get punched around by him plenty of times.

So for right now, he could only assume Edward was being honest with what he wanted.

Why did such things have to happen to him?

“Oh come on Dark Knight, you’re not going to really deny practically free information that can save the lives of thousands just because you have to kiss little ol’ me, right?” Edward crooned, clearly enjoying seeing him squirm. Batman’s jaw clenched. Much as he hated to admit it, Edward had a point and if that is what it took.

“Fine. Deal. But you give me the information first and only AFTER I find Quinzel and capture her will I… do that.”

“Oh wow… no fun, I see… but fine. So long as you keep to your promise. You should have your information by tomorrow.” Edward said, holding out his hand, grin still plastered on his face.

Batman grudgingly shook it, wondering if he just unknowingly stepped into something more.

Appearing before the Dramacourt: Hwarang: Poet Warrior Youth Eps 13-14 (we decided to combine these two eps because yet again there wasn’t much happening in ep 13)

Issues:

Whether armies are useless when it comes to hungry peasants?

Apparently so. What were you guys doing while Scarface/Peasant Mob was stealing your food and gifts?

It never pays to be nosy. Minding your own business keeps you out of unnecessary trouble.

Not really. There are much better, more effective ways to flush someone out than killing people. Carrots > Sticks.

Again, not really. It’s been 14 episodes and the plot has quite literally CRAWLED. Nothing earth shattering has happened.

RedRosette J: Guys. Honestly, this drama is really starting to get on my nerves. Whenever I think of Mondays, I now associate it with Hwarang and the annoyance of having to watch it. It’s not cute anymore and it’s just dragging its feet. When you have a very busy schedule, this snail’s pace plot doesn’t help. Episode 13  was especially brutal and slow except for the major plot development as far as I’m concerned being the kiss that we were Ban Ryu-Soo Yeon shippers were all waiting for! Yay! Finally. It was a bit of an awkward kiss, but I love these two so I’ll take an awkward kiss over no kiss. And omg smiling Ban Ryu will be the death of me. Thank you. Other developments in episode 13 was this whole thing to send the Hwarang guys on a road trip with the Pointless Princess and Sun Woo getting more of an inkling of Ji Dwi’s secret.

Jubiemon J: I agree too that Hwarang is beginning to feel like a chore. After I finish an episode, I always wonder whether anything has even happened. I keep asking RedRosette this question as well. Has the plot even moved along? Nothing major comes to mind. Episode 13 at least had that cute kiss.

RedRosette J: Episode 14 was even harder to get through. The whole robbery thing and the evil Crown Prince and it was all so meghhh. The only decent thing in episode 14 was we got to see Soo Ho and Ban Ryu bond and it turns out that Soo Ho knows about Soo Yeon’s crush on Ban Ryu. Super cute these two. We also got to see Ban Ryu making the choice to stick with the guys rather than follow through with his dad’s nefarious plan. You Go man! #teamHwarang. There was some other stuff with Han Sung and Dan Sae and a bunch of stuff with the Queen that I just skipped (Ugh!).

Jubiemon J: Episode 14 . . . was cringe-worthy because of that robbery. Hungry peasants vs army . . . hungry peasants win? All of a sudden . . . Hyungsik said not to kill them and then they run off. Later at night, the peasants steal food and Hwarang did nothing? Huh?! What a mess! And now from light-hearted bromance stuff we were promised, we have the heavy political things going on. Aiya.

Issue 1: Whether armies are useless when it comes to hungry peasants

RedRosette J: I would argue yes. Angry peasant mobs are quite effective in achieving results. If anyone has seen any episode of Spongebob, they would know that those angry fish people mobs are super effective achieving results. Similarly, hungry and angry peasants are way more effective than armies. I would think that it would also render an army ineffective against them. That is, a well disciplined one; an army led by a tyrant probably wouldn’t give a shit and would just kill everyone, but one led by a leader with half a brain would be unlikely to kill off all the peasants. Also, if people’s revolutions have taught us anything, its that common folk do have the power to get what they want. The only caveat to this is that is almost always involves some sort of violence. or Twitter. So yea, arguably an army would be useless when confronted by hungry peasants.

Jubiemon J: I think so too. In the end, they outnumber the Hwarang. What bugged me here was that the peasants spontaneously backed away after Ji Dwi was saying that they couldn’t kill them. That made me think that it was pointless for the peasants to have tried to steal food. The next day, Hwarang peeps were saying how all the food was stolen… Okay . . . so you guys were in charge of guarding stuff and you just let them take things . . . ugh…. I mean I know the peasants are starving, but the way they phrased it seemed like Hwarang was totally ignorant of people coming in to steal things in the middle of the night.

Issue 2: Whether the Hwarang are actually useless

RedRosette J: So there’s plot hole that bothers me in this. These guys are supposed to be the smartest bunch of people, yet they are outsmarted by Scarface and his posse of hungry peasants? Really? You expect us to believe that they left a whole carriage of gold and expensive treasures and food unguarded while they were on a road trip to a neighbouring kingdom who may have threatened war on yours. Hmmm. Let’s think about that for a second. Does this make sense? considering that these guys are supposed to be super educated and receiving all this warrior training that they would make such a rookie mistake? I’m sorry but if you really needed to advance the plot in this whole ‘lost everything while on the road’ direction, you could have done it so much better. Have the peasants steal while distracting them or something. This whole scene was iffy and wasn’t working. It made the Hwarang seem useless. If they can’t safeguard a carriage of gold, how are they supposed to safeguard a whole Kingdom?

Jubiemon J: Hwarang doesn’t seem to be very effective because as soon as they all hear that Aro is imprisoned, they start fighting the guards. Okay, Ji Dwi was like no, you cannot use your swords, but you are still fighting? Same thing as provoking some war? Ugh. Really, the evil Prince from the other country was right. They were all fighting for 1 woman that was accidentally imprisoned? Lol . . .

Issue 3: Whether it pays to be nosy

RedRosette J: No. This is like a basic grade school level concept: MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. Again, they have to go and make Aro a martyr character who makes friends with the “help” and tells stories to the “poor” and is so perfect and nosy that her nosiness gets her in trouble. Ugh. It doesn’t pay to be nosy. Why are you in everyone’s business? I think even if you had to be nosy, you need to think about it carefully before you act on it. Aro’s actions put everyone in jeopardy. There’s a difference between being a nice person and then putting an entire Kingdom at risk. I’m not a fan of Aro and her shortsightedness. *sigh*

Jubiemon J: I feel like Aro is the type of person that thinks she is super smart but in reality she is not. (Pet peeve here.) I mean look at V’s character. He knows he’s not as bright as others and accepts it. Aro, on the other hand, often has a know-it-all vibe. Unfortunately, she doesn’t think deep enough or far enough.

All this means is that you’re a gossip -_-

Issue 4: Whether the best way to flush someone out is to start killing people

RedRosette J: Not really. Killing people just creates so much unnecessary drama and can cause international incidents. It’s one thing to try to get someone to confess to being the ‘Faceless King’ or whatever, but it’s a whole other story when there’s diplomacy on the line. In this case, the delegation from Silla went to Baekje to avoid going to war and if the psycho Prince of Baekje starts killing off citizens from Silla for a pointless reason, I think that that would be a reason to go to war. But then again, this is when it’s looked at from a modern diplomacy point of view. I guess during Ye Olde Times, a few peasants getting killed probably wouldn’t warrant an “inter-Kingdom” incident. I still think that there are much better ways to try to get the King to show his face rather than killing people. They could have taken Aro hostage (which is essentially what happened anyway. Those poor peasants were collateral damage *shakes head*). Or they could have induced him with some kind of benefit (not that that would happen given Ji Dwi’s character, but still it would be worth a shot). Regardless of the strategy, anything has to be better than killing people. It’s so extra and unnecessary.

Jubiemon J: I guess what the show really wanted to illustrate was how messed up the Prince was? There’s just more drama when you start doing mass threats. It’s kind of funny in a way because he went from . . . Princess, marry me and then after a few mins, he changes to . . let me kill all these peasants. -0-”

Issue 5: Whether anything has really happened in this drama so far

RedRosette J: Jubiemon and I were talking about this because we’re both so frustrated about how slowly this drama is moving and about how nothing really seems to happen in the episodes. The plot is very very slow and as for the significant developments, I can count on one hand the major things that happened. We’re currently at episode 14 and nothing mind blowing has happened. *sigh* It’s very disappointing considering that there was so much hype around this drama. I also recently found out that there are 20 episodes and not 16 like I had initially thought. OMG. I’m not going to be able to write anything decent on these posts unless the plot picks up in the next episode -_-

Jubiemon J: Yup, I’ve mentioned this before but this drama is just so boring now. I liked the bromance between Do Ji Han and Choi Minho, but now that there’s so much heavy political tension . . . *yawn*. I also think Aro and Sunwoo’s romance hasn’t even been fully developed or nothing interesting or cute has happened between them. Sigh. Can’t we keep it lighthearted for once? Skip the politics.
