the 5th cohort being a part of the royal navy until they get sick of the shitty treatment they get from ‘the legion’ or until they can’t stand the corruption in the legion thts hurting innocent people n places — then defecting n just becoming a ship full of terrifying sea bandits,,, ( maybe the unlawful arrest of the previous captain and firstmate / older ‘centurions’ is what RLY fucking pushes them over the edge, who knows )

they just go around like destroying the navy’s plans or scaring the shit out of Other Pirates trying to terrorise places, but end up w this reputation as BLOODTHIRSTY and VIOLENT criminals. they take it and run w it and use it like a shield against anyone tryin to Fuck With Them

ok so he bags himself jobs around the harbor on ships n stuff!! shit goes down when he gets a job on a cargo ship tht gets attacked by another group of pirates; the ship gets blown to pieces in the attack n jason is rescued from the wreckage by the 5th cohort ship

he’s Small Scared n Surrounded by Terrifying Bandits at first but then bobby’s like ‘uhhh where do we . boot this kid?? like where r his parents. where do we drop him off’

lo and behold when he is..........brought back to his hometown, thalia is. Gone. he was reported dead along w the rest of the cargo ship crew weeks ago and now thalia is gone, thinkin jason died. 

so now jason, at 10, feelin like he has NOBODY else on the planet: begs these pirates 2 keep him bc Look I Can Be Useful

( he goes from being miserable at thalia’s loss, to rly growing into his place on the ship, and eventually starts 2 regain a lil hope that he might find her someday )

vltrn au w/ altean prince jason EXCEPT. he was the illegitimate kid. all his sibs, (?) former paladins? maybe just warriors in other things??? died when altea fell, n jason was snuck off into one of those cryopods by his stepmother bc lowkey she’d been training him as her champion n wanted at least ONE defence left for altea, in case anyone else survived the battle

so when he wakes up again 10000 years later its like. he doesn’t feel princely at all, he doesn’t act like it, but he has his father’s blood n he’s one of few alteans left, an d. : (
