@catadioptrics - Liked for a Starter
Altra didn't expect to find himself back in Sinnoh any time soon.
But Mount Coronet was a place he'd come to time and time again several years prior. Back when he was living with his mother in Celestic Town. Before he had a single Pokeball on his belt, before the ferry incident.
It had only happened half a year ago now. But it felt so much longer. He'd met a handful of new friends, seen a new region or two, but was still no where near strong enough to even begin looking for his Mother.
Let alone being able to stand on his own as a trainer. He felt so.. aimless..
Those were the thoughts that ran through Altra's head as he sat on one of the broken pillars at the top of Mount Coronet; a place he'd heard his mother once call 'The Spear Pillar'.
He'd been here before, many times often alone, like now. Just to look out over Sinnoh. Though his peace was soon broken as he heard footsteps close by.
That noise alone snapped him from his daze as he'd look up and around to the source of the sound. He didn't know if anyone came up here outside of locals...
"... Is someone there?"

"Mm.. yeah that's true. I guess I do tend to talk a lot.. sometimes." He sighed, looking back up at Nico. Altra was more of a thinker, watching.. waiting for a moment to strike. He was a lot smarter than most people thought he was. It was just.. very controlled.
"Which one you do fit in, Mister Nico?" Now Altra was curious. He read Altra with ease but.. where would that put the other? Were they the more violent type? Or.. were they like him and read a situation first then jumped in?
Altra was curious now.
"That's not necessarily a bad thing." Nico could tell that Altra seemed to be feeling a little downcast after listening to him. Of course, it's true that from what he could tell Altra really wasn't the best at handling confrontation, but people don't like being told about their weak spots so succinctly. Being a mind reader makes it hard to communicate sometimes. "By that same logic, people who are more confrontational and outspoken tend to get along well with you because you're better with situations that require tact and careful thought, right?"
"No one's good at everything, but we don't have to be good at everything. There's things only your friends can do, and there's things only you can do. That's what makes everyone important or something like that."

Bridgewater State University Observitory
Earlier this week Jamie Kern, observatory manager and professor, was kind enough to show her honors astrophotography class the University's observatory (shown above).
The Observatory was first built slightly off the colleges campus back in the 1970s, but was rebuilt in 2011 in Bridgewater State University’s math and science center. It contains a 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes cost roughly $4000-$6000.
What makes a Schmidt-Cassegrains telescope (SCT) so special? This telescope has become one of the most popular telescopes due to its versatility, compactness and portability. Its versatility allows users to take amazing photography, observing as well as stargazing significantly easier.
How does a Schmidt-Cassegrains telescope (SCT) work? “Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and mirrors. They are reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eradicate any abnormalities that would result from the mirror alone. The incoming light passes through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope.” Which is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope. This focuses the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a smaller secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the scope for visual observing or a camera for photographing.
Source: Starizona
What is the history of the Schmidt-Cassegrains telescope (SCT)? Well for those reading who have good old American nationalism will be happy to know that it was invented by James Gilbert Baker, an american astronomer and lens designer. The design was first intended for a camera in the 1940s. However, Bakers' design wouldn't be used as a telescope until World War II for research for the military.

best telescope for astrophotography
Introduction: What are the Key Factors to Consider when Purchasing a Telescope?
A telescope is a tool that helps us to see things that are far away. It is composed of a set of lenses, which are used to gather light from the object being observed and then focus it on the eye.
The first thing you need to consider when buying a telescope is its size. Larger telescopes have more lenses and can provide higher magnification, which means they can be used for viewing objects at greater distances.
Next, you need to think about the quality of your lenses. In general, good quality lenses have a large aperture (or diameter) and high optical quality. They also typically have wide field of view and superior contrast compared to low-quality lenses with small aperture and poor optical quality.
Factors to Consider when Choosing a Mirror or Refractor Telescope
Choosing a telescope for the first time can be overwhelming. There are so many options available and it is hard to know which one will best suit your needs.
The factors that you should consider when choosing a telescope are: cost, ease of use, quality of optics, weight, portability, and durability.
What you need to consider when buying a telescope is what type of user you are. If you're someone who just wants to see the moon or planets without all the fuss and fumbling around with settings, then a refractor-style telescope would be best for you. These telescopes have lenses that allow for easy viewing because they don't require an eyepiece like reflectors do. They also tend to be lighter and cheaper than reflectors because they don't need as much glass in their lenses.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an Astronomical Telescope
There are a lot of factors that you need to consider when choosing the best telescope for astro-photography. This is because there are so many different types of telescopes available in the market.
Some of these factors include: your budget, your location, and the type of telescope you want. It is important to know what you need and what you want before buying a telescope.
When choosing an astronomical telescope, it’s important to remember that not all telescopes are made equal. There are different types of telescopes with varying features and specifications that will suit specific needs better than others.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a TELESCOPE
Telescope is an important tool for astrophotography. It is a device that helps to magnify the image of celestial objects and aid in the observation of stars and other celestial bodies.
There are many factors to consider when choosing a telescope, including its size, magnification power, cost, durability, portability and more.
Conclusion: How to Choose the Best Telescope from these Different Types
Telescope is a tool that helps in observing the universe and exploring it. It is a device that uses lenses to make distant objects appear close. There are many types of telescopes, and choosing the best one from them can be a daunting task.
The first type of telescope is refracting telescope which is also known as Newtonian telescope. This type of telescope was invented by Isaac Newton in 1668 and consists of two lenses with their focal points at opposite ends of an object lens. The second type of telescopes are reflector telescopes which use mirrors instead of lenses to make distant objects appear close. The third type of telescopes are compound or catadioptric telescopes which use both mirrors and lenses to make distant objects appear close as well as provide magnification power.
The choice between these three types depends on what you want to observe, how much magnification power you need, how much light gathering power you need, what size your budget is, etcetera.

Choose the Best Telescope for Viewing Galaxies
The mirror of the reflector was designed to have a parabolic shape to concentrate all the light rays in a central point. The classical telescope is thus available in two versions: the Newton and the Cassegrain. Compact and light, Newton is the most common model on the market. It is indeed very popular with the general public.
The catadioptric telescope
Best telescope under $100 is the highest category. Intended mainly for professionals, it was designed to correct any chromatic aberration spectacularly. It combines the construction of the refractor and the construction of the reflector. Its price is exorbitant, choose this model only if you have a very good notion of astronomy.

Boss Battle it is time to return to the world of the living here
[ This one I have indeed thought about. Especially considering the fact ya' boi is possessed by Giratina, and it's basically legendary vs legendary here.
So.. this seemed fitting.
youtube
I chose THIS particular remix of Raw, Unfiltered Calamity since it's not as heavily 'dreary' as the other while still holding the heavy notes. It shows there's more to it all, that perhaps this is only the beginning; while keeping the intensity of the original. The tone shift at the 3 minuet mark is certainly the point that the battle reaches it's half-way mark and things actually start getting serious.]

Apple's upcoming AR headset could work in concert with iPhones and iPads
And also help find your lost AirPods...
Rumors of Apple’s augmented reality glasses have been whispering in the wind for a while now, and new details have recently emerged thanks to website Patently Apple unearthing a slurry of patents being granted to the Cupertino firm.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
After filing a patent for a catadioptric optical system – a series of lenses designed to project images into a user’s eyes – in early February this year, Apple has been granted 53 patents, covering its AR wearable, 3D mapping technology, and a more intelligent iPhone Home screen, amongst others, as discovered by Patently Apple. The latest patent filed by Apple, though, details how an augmented reality headset could be used alongside an iPhone or iPad. Feel the touch The details in the patent describe how the AR glasses can be used to view “an augmented reality environment” with images from a computer overlaid on top.
The patent also explains that viewers can then use a “touch-sensitive surface” to interact with that environment. This means that the wearable will potentially be able to communicate wirelessly with an iPhone, iPad, or a computer. Another patent granted to the iPhone maker describes a "method for representing points of interest in a view of a real environment on a mobile device". Putting that in layman’s terms, it implies that certain indicators could be overlaid into an augmented reality scene, helping users locate items (for example, applying it to the company's Find My iPhone feature, or say, locating keys with a Bluetooth tracking tag) in a space.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
While this particular patent doesn’t mention the AR glasses, it does mention a “head-mounted display”, meaning Apple may still use this technology in its wearable. Of course, it's worth noting that all this is, of course, speculative: Apple applies for a huge number of patents, many of which don’t see the light of day after they’ve been granted. So whether these ideas will be implemented or not remains to be seen. According to CNET, Apple is hoping to release its AR glasses sometime in 2020. READ MORE:

Apple has cooked up a new head-mounted display design that could dramatically shrink the size of a virtual reality or augmented reality headset, a newly-published patent application reveals. The company has been coy about its AR and VR ambitions, with CEO Tim Cook dismissing suggestions of any sort of imminent smart glasses release by pointing out the technology just isn’t ready.
However, at the same time it’s clear that while Apple may not have anything it’s ready to publicly show us, that’s not to say it isn’t working hard on the segment internally. Reports last year pegged a possible Apple smart glasses release as early as 2019 or 2020, indeed. Although details remain in short supply, the expectation is that such a wearable would use at least one transparent display and tether via Bluetooth to a user’s nearby iPhone, which would be responsible for controlling what showed in the wearer’s line of sight.
A newly revealed patent application, meanwhile, indicates another direction Apple is exploring. Dubbed “Optical System for Head-mounted Display,” the filing – which was submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office in mid-February 2017, though only published this week and spotted by PatentlyApple– describes a multi-lens configuration that could be significantly lighter and less bulky than existing designs. That, Apple points out in its filing, might help reduce fatigue and allow for longer periods of use.
The application namechecks both VR and AR headset design, though focuses more on virtual reality than augmented reality. Apple’s idea is to use a so-called catadioptric optical system, already fairly commonplace in telescopes and some camera lenses. By folding the optical path using stacks of lenses and mirrors in convex and concave shapes, they can be much shorter and more compact than other lenses. They also address chromatic aberration, where not all wavelengths of light are focused at the same convergence point, and thus color fringing is observed.
Although catadioptric optics are less commonplace for camera lenses now, they do have significant potential benefits for wearable displays. One of the issues AR and VR headset-makers face is providing a big enough image from a micro-display without making the whole assembly bulky and unwieldily. As a result, the usual strategy is a combination of a relatively small display that relies on magnifying lenses to enlarge it to suit the wearer’s vision.
Apple’s idea would potentially replace multiple such lenses with a far more compact catadioptric lens assembly. Such a headset could be equipped with both inwardly-focused and external cameras, Apple speculates. That would allow the system to do head-tracking with relation to 3D space around the wearer, but also gaze tracking for their eyes.
Now, as with any patent or patent application, it’s far too soon to draw any direct product conclusions. Nonetheless, it’s clear that Apple is exploring ways by which AR and VR devices could be more streamlined and less obtrusive. That might have broad-reaching implications as the company gets deeper into the category.

Nico spawns from the darkness holding a really large Teddiursa plushie that he then hands over to Altra. He's looking pretty frazzled, like he just got here in a hurry, but where did he come from?
"Oh no, I didnt know it was your birthday! Am I late? Here's your gift, happy birthday, Altrie!"
"Whoa..." Altra looks amazed. How did Nico do THAT!?
Then he's immediately distracted by the giant Teddiursa Plushie! This will go awesome with the Fat Pichu he got earlier today! The teen takes the plush and hugs is so tight, he's.. totally not in tears!
"N-No! You're right on time Mister Nico, thank you!!!"
