max was still getting used to this whole “instagram famous” thing. famous might have been a generous word, but his follower count had grown exponentially recently. it seemed capri hitting the big times meant he did too. people found some pictures of her on his instagram and those posts blew up, and then so did his entire instagram. max spent practically half his day scrolling through shit on instagram, but it was one thing in particular that caught his attention. “hey capri,” he said, pushing his phone in her direction.. “people are fighting over what our ship name would be.” which was ridiculous - they were just friends.

“your loss.” she commented with a small shrug, taking a few more hits before snubbing it out on the concrete wall she had just been leaning on. not wanting to litter (surprisingly, she cared about something other than herself) she put the cigarette butt in her pocket, making a mental note to throw it away later once she could. “more than once, huh? were you scared?” the sarcasm was gone from her tone as she encouraged her body guard to share more, although she wasn’t sure if he would. capri liked to think she was persuasive when she wanted to be, but leo seemed like a tough nut to crack. “can anyone really protect themselves from a bullet? my mom sure as hell couldn’t.”

he noted that she put the cigarette butt into her pocket, which was interesting. most people just threw them on the ground or into the street. good for her. he shrugged at her question about whether or not he was scared. yeah, he probably was, but really instinct just kicked in. it didn’t leave much time to be scared. “well, that’s why you have me,” he pointed out, not mentioning her little comment about her mother. it implied her mother had been shot and killed, but he wasn’t about to pry into her personal life. if she wanted to spill her guts, that was her prerogative, but he wasn’t going to ask.

“i don’t know, maxcap kinda has a nice ring to it.” capri commented with a giggle, finding amusement in their ship names. it made sense that people thought they were together, as they spent just about every waking moment with one another since they were young. she clung to max like he was some sort of lifeline and in a way, he had been. “alright, we have to plan this to make it look good. it needs to be staged, but it can’t look it, you know? then they might think we’re doing some sort of publicity stunt. what should we be doing in the photos, hmm? you can pick. i’ve already got some hashtags in mind.”
Tumblr media
"i still say maxpri," max said, even if the whole thing was ridiculous. but if they ever decided to play into it and use the hashtag in any if their posts, whatever they used would probably become standard. "hmm something tells me we shouldn't be smoking a bong in them, but that would be fun." max was kind of used to doing whatever he wanted on instagram, but now he had his own brand and shit to worry about, so he couldn't always do whatever he wanted.

if his plan was to irritate the actress, then he was succeeding. the parental vibe he was giving off was really cramping her style to the point where she didn’t even want to be out anymore. the urge to drink had come and gone as she pushed away from the bar, holding back a huff as she walked away. capri knew he’d be following without even looking. “you must be really fun at parties.” she responded, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “why can’t you stand quietly in the corner? when they told me i had to get a bodyguard, i didn’t know i’d be getting someone attached to my hip.” that was kind of the point, but that didn’t stop her from letting the complaint escape from her lips. “are you gonna ground me, too?”
Tumblr media
she wasn't taking the drink, so that made leo's job a little easier. it wasn't that he cared if she drank because that was her own damn business, but if she got sloppy drunk, then it was his problem to deal with if she were too drunk to easily drag home. he took no offense to her attempt at an insult. who he was at work had nothing to do with what he was like when he was off duty. but yes, he was serious when he was on duty. "not if i don't have to," leo answered her sarcastic question. because if wasn't a real question - he wasn't in charge of her. if she wanted to chug drinks until the cows came home, he really couldn't stop her. he was just responsible for making sure she didn't die.
