On the night of her first exhibition, Morticia welcomed her guests with a graceful air of pride. It was a humble event, held for the other students on university grounds, but the extravagance of it was the least of her concerns. The school principal had frowned at her suggestion of a midnight art show, but that resistance was ultimately subdued by her sweet-spoken pleas–and the result was perfect in her eyes.

The paintings on the wall were some of her best work. Morticia felt deeply saddened to part with them, but it was all for a good cause: the radio had recently announced the mayor’s intentions to remove the swamp near the university, and the young Frump girl was determined to do everything in her power to prevent it. Thus, every piece in display portrayed some of her favorite swamp animals. Dark paintings on a white canvas showed the alligators, the ravens, the boars and the snakes in expressionist lines, illuminated by the shimmering light of the silver sconces on the walls.

Morticia had received them all with a speech and a toast in favor of her cause, before she began to do the rounds, handing little pamphlets to each of her guests, with a little evocative text that she had written in defense of the swamp and its natural beauty. The acceptance was lukewarm at best, but that did not shake her determination. Disappointed as she was that the majority of her fellow students did not seem to comprehend her passion, she knew that she could never forgive herself if she allowed such a beautiful spot to be removed without a fight!

That was when she spotted a handsome young man staring at the alligator painting. Morticia remembered seeing him along the school corridors once or twice – had even entertained the sporadic hope that their paths would cross again, silly as that was, but his apparent interest in her work was even more appealing to her than his features.

This time, she decided not to wait for fate. “Good evening, Mr.--”, said Morticia, offering him one of her pamphlets. “I’m afraid I do not know your name. Do you like the painting?”

Being a mother is a funny thing. Your child is never truly only the age that they are now. Wednesday may be 15, but for Morticia, she is also every other age she has ever been ever since she was born. Staring at her means seeing not only the fierce teenage girl she is so proud of in front of her, but also the little child that used to cut off her doll's heads. Just like Morticia herself as a young girl. Though she tries to keep herself from comparing Wednesday to who she used to be as much as she can. But sometimes it's hard. Mostly because she carries so much love for her girl it feels good to see a little bit of herself in her. Either way, most of those feelings do not show up on her face. Or at least, not anywhere else but in her eyes as she steps out of the car and gets inside the school for one of the scheduled visits. Morticia wouldn't often go alone and her heart already aches with how much she misses her husband; she also knows Pugsley wanted to see his sister, but she and Gomez had agreed it would be a good thing for her to spend some time alone with Wednesday, and their daughter is aware of it. Morticia isn't sure about how she feels with that, but it will not be a surprise for her. As she enters the school grounds, her eyes almost immediately catch sight of her little raincloud. She would find her anywhere, in any crowd. Her smile is subtle as she approaches her daughter, hands creeping around her shoulders and her face, as close as she could get to touching her, but without actually doing it. "Hello, my darling."

Leia couldn't help admiring a woman who knew what dramatics were a lovely asset to express yourself. She had tried to learn the fashion of this place for this party. It seemed someone else was 'over dressed'. She could sense quite power in the woman who looked like she was stoic, but held a motherly kindness in her veins. She didn't need to prod her presence to figure that out. A soft smile tugging at the edges of her features as she took a spot in the seat next to her. "You must tell me were you got that makeup. You look like a goddess, my lady." she started.
