The note reads: ‘Dear Miss Cassandra – I wanted to thank you for the sword lessons, I’m really excited to be learning with you!! Where I’m from, it’s a tradition to make ribbons for people you care about, and I picked the charm because it reminded me of you! You could wear it in your hair, or it makes a cool bracelet, too.       NOTHING IS EXPECTED -- she isn’t entirely huge on celebrations nor does she particularly think anyone here cared for her enough to think about her that much. she’s very much used to a very simple christmas spent alone with her father with no real displays of outward affection && some practical gifts exchanged between the pair. so, finding the silver box && letter surprises her -- though it softens her heart as she reads along, taking the ribbon out to inspect it in gloved hand.

      she isn’t big on jewellery -- no, this charm && ribbon would have a much more special && permanent place on her person. box && letter is place down as she shifts to tie the ribbon to the sword on her back’s scabbard. there, it could remind her that she’s found a place here somehow -- remind her that she isn’t as useless as she had been back home because she was teaching a new generation now.

      it’s something that means more to her than the girl could really know -- not that cassandra would share that vocally -- but she’d continue to pay her back for her kindness, never giving up on teaching her or protecting her where she can (  though she’d certainly need to think of a return gift && thank you letter sent via her owl  ).
