060.  going with / escorting the other to a doctor / therapist appointment

There’s an almost awkward silence between them. No, not awkward. More like ... Tense? But it is not because of the other, necessarily. It’s her. It’s always her. Emi wasn’t very friendly, let alone good with people. Especially with people with good intentions. One would think that it should be the other way around, but Emi has a hard time trusting kindness.

They are half way to the infirmary by now, and her limp only seemed to become more pronounced the longer they walked. Despite the pain, however, she refused to show any form of discomfort. Was it out of pride? Or the general fear of coming off as weak and vulnerable? It was probably an unhealthy mixture of both, really.

「      This is completely unnecessary, you know ... —      」 she finally breaks the silence, her eyes flickering towards the other. Her expression is cold, and maybe she really does fit in with the likes of the Varia? 「      I can get to the infirmary myself. I’m no child.      」 Except, without a doubt, had the other not been escorting her there, she wouldn’t have gone in to be seen to begin with. The words of ‘thanks’ clung to her tongue, but she swallowed it down instead. The only form of appreciation she allows herself to show is the lack of coldness in her eyes.

Emi isn’t as cold and distant as she may  seem, but she stubbornly holds to the reputation she had built for herself. It was better that way. It hurt a lot less. Never get attached just because someone showed you a lick of kindness. They will just hurt you in the end, anyways, the ugly monster of insecurity sneered at her in her head.
