Blinking as the little one curls his hands around his pants leg, Daryl takes a moment to compute the new set-up. One step forward and the kid doesn't budge; it's only after three steps without any movement that he realises that--
"Huh." To his credit, Daryl lets out an amused snort. "Sure, kid. That works."
And it's a creative way to move for sure.
The kid's tiny enough that he weighs next to nothing. Daryl takes the deer on his back and starts walking to the closest stream and it's like he isn't attached to him at all.
Grass crunching under Daryl's boots, the sun shines through the canopy of the trees on the way. Eventually, they come across an incline, and as he traverses the well-worn path mapped out by all the animals that had come before, the sound of rushing water starts to reach his ears.
The stream is shallow, but Daryl's confident in his skills. He sets the deer down a good distance from the water first, though.
"All right," he starts, tilting his head from side to side to get the cricks out of his neck. Daryl's arms rotate in his shoulders, too. "This is it.
"You hear them frogs croakin'?"
An amused chuckle escaped his lips when Daryl asked him that question. He wouldn't quite call that talking, but he did try to communicate with him as best he could. When he guessed that he had never had squirrel before he confirmed this with a small shake of his head and a;
"Na-ah."
For emphasis. His eyes lit up at the mention of frogs though. A giggle escaped his lips as he heard the man curse. He could only wonder if Kobe was a bad word too.
He pursed his lips together when he asked him if he was tired. He was rather tired indeed. That gave him an idea though. Cautiously approaching Daryl, he held up his hands to indicate he meant no harm, before moved closer so he could stand on one of his shoes. Hoping he wouldn't mind. He was far lighter than a human child and figured that he could hold on to his shoe or pant leg and travel with him this way.

Planet Earth 2023 || Part Three
Pairing: Din Djarin x Fem!Reader
Warnings: canon typical shenanigans, fluff, slow burn
Word count: 2.1k
A/N: Thank you for reading. Please like, comment, and share!
part one
part two
part four
part five
part six
After dinner, you checked in on Mando and Grogu to make sure they settled into the guest room nicely. You offered to set the baby up in the second guest room, but Mando declined with the excuse that Grogu slept better next to him. You had a hunch that things were actually the other way around, but you chose to keep your mouth shut about it.
Your ex-fiancé left a few t-shirts, jeans, and sweatpants behind, and you found them tucked away in a drawer for Mando. Grogu was fast asleep, curled under the cover, so Mando asked if he could use your fresher, which you soon recognized meant the bathroom.
You motioned for him to walk with you to the guest bathroom. When you got inside, you switched on the light and showed him where all the extra toothbrushes were and how to use the shower. You cracked open one of the cabinets and showed him where the towels and washcloths were.
When you were done, he said, "Thank you."
“No problem. I'm going to bed. If you need me, my bedroom is the third door down from yours."
"Good night, Y/N," he said as you walked away.
Over dinner, you gave him your real name. You couldn't decide whether it was sweeter when he called you by your given name or by your pet name, Tulip. In either case, the sound of his voice calling out to you was enough to make you feel a flurry of sensations. Your name danced at the tip of his tongue when he said it. He pronounced your name as if it were the crowning pinnacle of his destiny.
“Night Mando." You called over your shoulder before closing the bathroom door behind you.
When you realized Mando was a shorthand for Mandalorian, you asked him what his real name was, and he just stared at you. In complete silence. That is, until you changed the subject. Mando, in regard to truth, was not the most talkative person. You could appreciate that. You always found men who weren't loud mouth shit talkers attractive. It was just something about a man who didn't need to boast about himself or the things he possessed. Their confidence was evident, but silent. Mando definitely checked off that box.
You checked in on the baby one more time before heading to your room. He was still sound asleep. You entered your room, closed the door, and promptly undressed. You reached into your dresser drawer and grabbed a pair of pink silk pajamas, laying them out on the bed before stepping into the connecting bathroom.
You turned on the shower, letting the water heat up as you brushed your teeth and did your nighttime face wash. With a sigh of relief, you stepped into the steaming shower and let the water and soap wash away the day's events.
The shower cap protected your tight curls as you stood under the nozzle, letting the hot water run over your head and down your tense shoulders. You enjoyed taking showers. The water pressure was always fantastic, and there was something about being under the spray of water that made you feel small. Grounded.
Although most of the adrenaline had already left your body, the events of the day were still keeping you in a state of ambiguity. Your afternoon siesta was interrupted by a spaceship crashing in your yard; you met an alien man and his green alien son; and you were attacked by a space pirate and shot him dead. What a day, you thought, huffing to yourself.
Being a trauma surgeon, you were painfully aware of how drastic things could change within a few hours, but damn, a lot can happen in a few hours.
In spite of the many things that took place today, you were unable to take your mind off of Mando. The way he fought, the way he walked, the way he talked, the way he cared for his son, and the way he uttered both of your names. Everything. The alien man fascinated you on every level. You were eager to take in any and every detail regarding him.
You scrubbed the washcloth over your breasts and down your stomach a bit slower, humming softly as you thought about how Mando's powerful hands had cupped your head to protect you from an impending gunshot. You also remembered how small your hand fit in his as he massaged gentle circles into your hand to soothe your racked nerves.
You were brought back for an instant of what it felt like to be pinned down by his vast bulk. You desired to relive it, although preferably while wearing less clothes. His combat skills were so fluid, one can only imagine how smooth his bedroom skills would be.
Get a grip, Tulip, you thought, shaking the fake scenario out of your mind. You had only just met the alien man, and your mind was already running wild with steamy fantasies about him. Before you had any chance of touching yourself, you rinsed yourself and twisted the handle off.
_____
The next morning you found yourself in the kitchen making breakfast for three instead of one. You had to admit that you actually enjoyed having company. As strange as they were, Mando and Grogu seemed to be good people so far. Aliens but still good.
Your lack of mando-related dreams was unexpected. In fact, you didn’t dream of anything at all last night. You were painfully aware that your last romantic or sexual relationship was many years ago, but an alien? Were you seriously considering pursuing a man from space? Even worse, the first alien you encountered? What if Mando was already taken? He might have a girlfriend back on his planet, or he could be married to Grogu's mother. What if he didn't even like women or humans? Maybe you should ask him about it when the time was right, you thought as you chewed your lips.
You needed to reign yourself in until then.
After cleaning the few pans you used, you sat down to eat. Mando staggered into the kitchen about ten minutes later, carrying Grogu in his arms and dressed in the same armor he wore yesterday. You should probably offer them some clothes to change into, you thought as they made their way over to the island where you sat.
On the polished, stainless steel counter, they both found plates waiting for them: crispy bacon, scrambled cheese eggs, and toast. Apple juice for the kid and a cup of coffee for Mando.
"Good morning," you said, greeting them both with a bright smile. You hoped they were morning people, because you certainly were. You were a trauma surgeon who was always on call. You kind of had to be.
"Good morning," said Mando as he sat Grogu down and scooched his seat closer to the island so Grogu could feed himself. Mando sat down next to his child and across from you once the little green one was settled and eating.
“So, you’ve never had bacon and eggs before?” You asked, watching in amusement as Grogu scarfed down his breakfast. Mando turned away from you and titled his helmet the tiniest bit up to take a bite of his bacon and eggs.
"No, but I like the taste of it," Mando admitted as he pulled his helmet back down, facing you again. So he couldn’t show his face? You wanted to ask, but maybe at another time. "But we do have this drink; caf is what we call it."
"Well, that's not so different. We call it coffee around here."
"It's a little bit stronger than what I'm used to, but it's still good." Mando added.
“I don’t know how things work in space, but here we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also shower everyday. Some people shower twice depending on their jobs and whatnot…”
Mando nodded as he listened to you, “Not too different from how we do things in space then.” He decided.
The three of you sat there in a comfortable silence as you continued eating breakfast. You were astounded by how much the kid could pack away. He looked like a green tapeworm. When you asked Mando his age, your mouth dropped open in a silent ‘O.’ The child was 50 years old.
What in the absolute fuck?!
After breakfast, you offered to wash Mando's clothes and suggested he change into some regular loungewear. He promised that he would change once he finished tending to his spacecraft outside.
While Mando went outside to inspect the damage to his ship, he asked you to keep an eye on the kid. You patched together a piece of clothing for the kid from an old blue and orange college tee you had lying around. He cooed sweetly at you as you changed him.
You grabbed a snack for both of you before sitting on the couch and turning on the television. Scooby Doo reruns were playing at the moment. The child repeatedly pointed to the talking dog and giggled.
After an hour, Mando had not returned from outside. You and the kid needed some fresh air, and you also wanted to tend to your flowerbeds, so you put on your gardening boots and gloves and strolled out to your front yard with the child in your arms. Grogu seemed to like your shoulder-length curls. He liked the feel of the tight coils against his tiny fingers.
Despite the wreckage, the small garden and surrounding grass remained lush and green. As you moved closer to the area where the chrysanthemums and lilies grew, the aroma of sweet nectar crowded your nostrils. When you got to the tulip section, you sat Grogu down beside you, and he stood up and cooed happily as he smelled the beautiful blossoms.
Mando was nowhere to be found, but the ship's entrance door was open, so you assumed he was inside repairing the damages.
Grogu spotted a toad nearby and skipped off in its direction, leaving you to tend to the tulips on your own. The damage wasn’t as bad as you suspected. You were able to salvage most of the flowerbed.
Not even an hour had gone before you were nearly finished restoring the flowerbed, a small pile of trash that consisted of tiny metal chunks. You were so absorbed that you didn't even notice Mando sauntering over to you from his ship.
Mando knelt down beside you as you sorted through the last few ruined pots, “I told you that I would help,” he said, leaning forward, voice softer than you remembered. Even softer than when he was massaging your hand yesterday.
"It’s okay. You don’t have to," you replied, patting the soil with the mini shovel as you finished mending the tulips you could preserve. "I really enjoy gardening."
"Tulips are my favorite sarad too." He admitted, bending forward to take a deep breath of the flowers. Sarad must have meant flower, you thought.
Hmm, that's one thing you had in common.
Watching him appreciate the dulcet, peculiar scent of tulips sent goosebumps up your spine and raised the hairs on the back of your neck. He was perfect.
“What happens if you take your helmet off in front of me, Mando?” You blurted, curiosity getting the best of you.
“I become apostate,” he said, sighing deeply as he sat back on his heels, shoulders brushing yours, “I’d no longer be a Mandalorian.”
His tone was grievous, almost reminiscent. Maybe he had been kicked out before. In whatever case, you chose not to push for more information. It appeared that cults existed even in space. Interesting.
Very interesting indeed.
“That sucks,” you retorted, shaking your head.
“Tell me about it.” his modulated voice muttered, agreeing.
“So, how do you kiss?” You pressed nosily, shooting him a toothy grin.
“I don’t,” he chuckled softly, shrugging his armored shoulders.
“Damn,” you giggled, “that really sucks.”
“Tell me about it, mesh’la.”
“What does me—mesh’la mean?”
“It means beautiful in Mando’a.”
“You t-think I’m beautiful?”
“I do,” he admitted, light from the sun glinted off his metal helmet as he nodded. “And your smile is breathtaking.”
The corners of your mouth curved into a tiny smile as you set aside your gardening tools to focus solely on him.
"Thank you," you said quietly, gazing at him. "How do you say 'handsome' in Mando'a?"
“Mesh’la.”
"Well, I think you're very mesh'la, Mando," you replied, flirtatiously.
Mando was overcome with shyness and blushed furiously up to his ears, relieved that you couldn't see his reddening face. “But you can’t even see me.”
“It's just a gut feeling that I have," you explained as you held out your hand and ran a finger along the forehead of his helmet, "and my gut is always right."
He leaned into your touch as if he could feel your fingers against his skin and whispered, "I believe you, Tulip."
Christ, you wanted him. Bad.

10 Things I think of when it's comes to Disney
It's 100 anniversary of Disney, I put 10 instead of 100 cos I can't think of more than 10.
10. Cinderella
I never liked this movie but at school when it rainy day and too wet to play outside, we stay indoor watching video, they keep putting Cinderella on alot, it annoying. Sure they have many video and they keep having Cinderella on. Not sure about many time they did but remember one time a year before I left for other school they decide to put Tom and Jerry, which is just as worse. Remember that Fairy God mother singing.
9. Walt Disney
A guy who invited Disney company. A Legend. There rumor he's a nazi cos he was against Unions. It just rumor. But wonder what he think of Disney of today?
8. Mickey Mouse
It started with a mouse. I prefer him over Bugs Bunny. Even seen a documenty of him. I hardly see much cartoons of him but he's an icon. I remember a teacher draw a picture of Mickey Mouse for me.
7. DisneyWorld/Land
I never been but love to go to Disney World. I see alot of people been to Disney land or Disney world. Shame castle at Disney World not open to public like ones in Disneyland, but it was used for posh hotel and hired Venue (where it hired for wedding or something) I believe they f****d up. It iconic, should used for Public instead of just being there for display. I may prefer seeing Millennium Falcon.
6. Dinosaur
When I had our PC, I start going on internet and there site talking about movies and there upcoming movie called Dinosaur. It release in USA but took few month before it premier in UK. At time I unable go to cinema as I'm a high schooler. My mum got making of Dinosaur video from goven tokens to some newspaper. It took times before it release on video and saved up my pocket money to buy it. When college I start getting it on DVD. I remeber to someone at high school, he did make fun.
5. Princess Elsa and Anne
Used to into them when Forzen was big and it used to be part of British Christmas. Even bought two dolls. But seem I glow out of it.
4. Toy Story
Since first movie when out it was big. I wanted to watch and I already love these characters, they are lovable characters even to these who never seen it yet. There a English local newspaper even did an article about ''Parents like Woody and children prefer Buzz'' and even say Woody act like dad. I like both along with Slinky dog and Green Army Soldiers and RC Car. Used to dislike Bo Beep but she okay and she Woody's love interest. Happy he with her at Toy Story 4. Are squeals are great. Not fan of Starrberry Bear, he's an a***, he almost got the gang to be burned.
3. Marvel
Well, I was shock to see Disney bought Marvel. On that day I wonder what they do. I do hope for Captain Britain or Union Jack movie or tv show. And also new Punisher show or movie, cos they're my favourite Marvel characters. Avengers movie are awesome. Looking forward for new Deadpool and even I dislike them, what be their X-Men or Fantastic Four be like. Also like Goose the cat.
2. Star Wars
I was also shock they got Star Wars as well they had Marvel. Well, if this haven't happen there be no BB8, Porgs, D-0 and Grogu (Baby Yoda). Was big Star Wars fan, but wasn into it but when BB8 come along I big interests in Star Wars. I do think I'm a Star Wars fan or a BB8 fan. Everyone has it's favouites. Of course BB8 is my favourite, along with D-0, Porgs, Grogu and BD-1, also like Boba Fret, Din/Mando and Stormtrooper. I was hoping for Boba Fret movie, but series ok, but they got some negative. I do enjoyed Andor surpricely.
Wanted to add, we do watched alot of Disney animated classic movies (almost all of them) and even Disney cartoons, like DuckTales and Tail Spin. When I was young I wanted my own Disney like company like it has cartoons and movies I like, theme park that like Disney land/World, it nuts I know but I was young. What happen to Disney now is upsetting with classic turn to action live and wokeness/politics into the company.
Sox (Lightyear)
Maybe it something to do with cats or something. When Lightyear come out I took interest with this character. I see the movie kinda of a flop to some or most. I warch this movie few times cos of Sox, to me best thing about this movie. I see in Youtube before I see Lightyear, show Sox got stomp on I was little upset about but when saw the movie it was different Sox, but sad that Sox got killed off. He's my favourite Disney character.

Can't Stop Staring At Those Ocean Eyes | Anidala Oneshot
(hey here's some Anidala fluff nobody asked for!!)
Can't Stop Staring At Those Ocean Eyes | Anidala Oneshot
Warnings: discussion of pregnancy, otherwise it's just fluff with some angst sprinkled in idk
(it's honestly just pillow talk-y fluff let's be real)
She settles in his arms, a welcome respite from the cold night air drafting in through the window.
"Anakin...if we chose to have children, how many would you want?" She asks, tracing lazy patterns across his bare chest, absentmindedly tracing a fresh scar.
"I dunno,” He answers honestly. “I suppose I don't mind kids. Some of the younglings at the temple are nice enough...except that Grogu," he adds with a grumble. "I suppose I wouldn't mind one of my own. Why do you ask?"
"I still don't understand why you let yourself get harassed by toddlers," Padmé giggles.
"Don't laugh!" Anakin pouts. "Grogu and his...toddler clique stole my lightsaber earlier," he appends with a grimace.
Padmé, meanwhile, attempts to stifle her laughter. The mental image of Anakin being bullied by a bunch of toddlers was thoroughly entertaining.
"Okay...but seriously, why are you asking? Is everything okay?" Anakin asks, genuinely concerned.
She sighs, locking eyes with him. "Don't panic, but my cycle is late. Don't get excited though, it's probably nothing. It just...made me think, you know?" She says softly, letting her mind wander. She could almost see it now - a child that was a perfect mix of the both of them.
"Oh," is all he can say. How was he supposed to react? Padmé could be pregnant. “But it’s probably nothing, right?”
“Yes, I’m sure it’s fine,” she responds smoothly. "Don't let this...hang over your head. It's fine, I'm sure. You watch, I'll get it tommorow or something," she chuckles lightly.
"So...it's not for certain? We're okay, then?" He asks, unable to hide a bit of anxiousness in his voice.
"Mmm-hmm," she pauses, trying to think of something to change the subject. "Hey, are you going back to the Temple tomorrow or tonight?"
She can feel him relax a bit at the distraction. "Probably early tomorrow morning. I'll be gone by the time you wake up. We ship out for Cato Neimoidia tomorrow afternoon, and then after that, we're going to Anaxes. But I bet you I'll be back soon, I don't see either of these campaigns taking long."
"I sure hope," Padmé yawns. "I hate how often you're gone. It seems more than usual lately," she snuggles closer, holding him one last time. "I wish I didn't have to go to sleep,"
I know," he responds with a sigh. "I'll be back, I promise."
"Promise?" She asks.
"Yeah, I promise." He kisses the top of her head gently, wishing he could be there when she wakes.
Sadly, that was a luxury neither of them had.
"I could leave, you know," he blurts. "I would do anything you asked if it made you happy." he says, earnestly, grasping her hand.
"I...you don't mean that, Anakin. The Jedi need you. The clones need you. The Republic itself needs you! You can't leave,"
"But I would," he presses on. "I would. Say the word and I'll leave it all behind."
His deep blue eyes are boring into her soul; nearly asking her to say it.
"I..." she trails off. She knew that all she had to do was ask him to leave, to leave all of his responsibilities behind - and if she asked, he would leave it all behind in a heartbeat.
Something flickered in Anakin's eyes: he could feel her wavering resolve, but he remained silent.
It didn't matter, anyway; she couldn't bring herself to do it. It was selfish, and it wasn't how it was meant to be - at least for now, anyway.
..But was it really selfish to want a normal life?
Perhaps it wasn't. They had both known the repercussions; they knew what was going to happen if they pursued a relationship.
Resolutely, she decides she can't say it. It wasn't fair of her to ask him to abandon what he had worked most of his life for, even if he would just for her. "...I love you, Ani." she finally says.
He sighs contently, pulling her closer. "I love you too," he says without hesitation.
"Would you be..." He pauses, attempting to figure out how to word his question. "Would you be upset? If you weren't pregnant, I mean."
"I'd be more relieved if anything, but...it would be nice though, huh?" She murmurs quietly as she gently lets her fingertips trace a scar on his side. "A little version of you and me running around."
He laughs at that. "I don't think you'd want a mini-Anakin running around."
"Maybe not," She snorts. "But you know what I mean, right? A little baby...the perfect combo of you and I." her hand unthinkingly moves to her lower abdomen.
"Yeah, I know what you're saying," he says, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Sounds scary, if you ask me," he half-jokes.
"And so I've found the one thing the 'hero with no fear' is scared of," she teases.
"Oh, yeah?" He tickles her side in retaliation, making her squirm as she tries not to laugh.
"Anakin!" She manages to squeal, even as she finally gives in and attempts to wiggle away from him. He kisses the side of her head gently before letting her go.
"Okay, okay, I'll give you your space," he says with a grin. "I win."
She tilts her head. "Is that so?" before Anakin can react, she darts her hands out to his sides, attacking him with relentless tickles.
Anakin quickly realizes that she's fighting dirty, tickling him near his ribs and trying to keep him from retaliating, but to no avail. “Hey, no fair!”
"No fair?" She replies. "You started it!"
Anakin tries to bat Padmé’s hands away, but nearly falls off the bed while doing so.
She stops for a second, “Oh...whoops.” She mutters, before she realizes she's gotten the high ground in this situation. “Ha! Gotcha. I win."
"Okay, okay! You've made your point!" He says, laughing as he gets back on the bed.
They sit in comfortable silence for a minute, before finally, Padmé yawns once again, settling into his embrace as they wordlessly lie down. "I... I'll miss you, Ani." She breathes.
"You know I can't stay away for long, Padmé. And before you know it, this war will be over. I promise you." His hands trail through her hair, tracing soothing lines along her scalp.
She sighs, her eyes growing heavy. "And once it's over...we can be free then. We could go to Naboo," she says dreamily. "Maybe then, we could start a family."
"Yeah," Anakin agrees. "I like that,"
That night, Padmé goes to sleep dreaming of what could be. Maybe, she really was pregnant. Maybe, the war would be over soon and they could go back to Naboo.
She knew the perfect spot at the lake house for a baby's room.
In her mind's eye, she could see picnics, could see her and Anakin teaching their child to swim, could see a future that wasn't so full of war and chaos and stress.
Their relationship wasn't normal; it wasn't the typical relationship you'd see with normal couples who could freely be in love.
Perhaps someday, things would be different. Perhaps someday, they could get that happy ending on Naboo.
But for now, it was little moments like this that made it all the more worth it.

Word Count: 2k
A/N: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 EPISODE 14: THE TRAGEDY. IF Y’ALL HAVEN’T SEEN IT DON’T READ THIS FIC. That being said, I will be writing part 2 after tonight’s season finale, so be prepared. I cried writing this. I’m sorry. (No I’m not.)
Please consider reblogging and leaving a comment!! I love hearing what y’all think!!!
“Well, I guess this is it.”
You looked around at the strange stone formations, only partially paying attention as Mando rambled to Grogu.
“Does this look Jedi to you?”
You look at the way the stones are arranged, the carvings in the rock familiar to you even after all this time. Yet, you keep your mouth shut. Mando isn’t asking you, and even if he was, you’d lie to him. Just like you’ve lied to him every other time he’s asked about the Jedi.
“I guess,” he grunts, setting Grogu down, “You sit right here. Okay. Here we go.”
Grogu babbles at the two of you, and Mando cocks his head. “This is the seeing stone. Are you seeing anything?”
A snort bursts free from your mouth before you can stop it, and you see Mando’s head swivel around to you, and you can feel the look of exasperation he’s giving you.
Grogu babbles some more, and Mando turns back to him. “Or are they supposed to see you? Maybe there’s some kind of... control, or something.”
Grogu sees a little insect, and coos, reaching for it. Mando sighs, low and heavy. “Oh, come on, kid. Ahsoka told me all I had to do was get you here and you’d do the rest.”
The sound of thrusters suddenly reach your ears, and you jerk your head up in surprise and not a small amount of fear. You’re not that close to the ship, and you’re out in the open right now, and there’s not a lot of cover.
“Time’s up, kid. We gotta get out of here.” You and Mando turn towards Grogu, and your eyes widen upon seeing him surrounded by a Force shield. “We don’t have time for this. We got to get–”
“Mando, no!”
Your warning comes too late, and Mando is thrown back from Grogu, the shield blasting him back. You run to his side, helping him up from the dirt.
“What the hell–” he grunts, movements jerky from being thrown sideways so violently.
“It’s a Force shield,” you mutter, without thinking. “Nothing’s getting through that.”
Luckily, Mando doesn’t hear you, too focused on Grogu. He looks back and forth between the baby and where the ship had landed, clearly debating.
“Stay here!” He barks at you. “I’ll see if I can buy him some time.” His helmet turns to Grogu. “Can you please hurry up?”
You’re left standing amongst the stone pillars, watching as Mando begins to make his way down the side of the mountain. Anxiously, you turn to Grogu. “Come on, kiddo. We can’t stay here right now.” You wish you could train the kid, but it’s been years since you used the Force, the warning your mentor and friend had given you at the beginning of the Purges still at the forefront of your mind.
“Run, ad’ika. Run as far and as fast as you can. Order 66 commands us to kill all the Jedi. Don’t use the Force, and don’t get caught. Now go!”
A few tears rolled down your cheeks as you remember the frantic hug, the desperate way Rex had gripped your shoulders as he shoved a small pack into your arms, eyes bright with terror as the sounds of his brethren slaughtering yours filled your ears. It had been the last time you’d seen the clone Captain.
You’d listened to him, and you hadn’t used the Force, not for anything. Your lightsaber had been left in the Temple when you’d fled, so you’d trained with a staff instead, although Rex had made sure you knew your way around a blaster too. And for years, you’d lived, completely cut off from the Force, and it had been fine. You’d been fine.
Until you met Mando and Grogu.
You’d recognized Grogu immediately. He’d been at the Temple, same as you. You rarely trained with him, since he was so much younger than you, but you’d known who he was. He didn't’ seem to recognize you, and you figured that was a good thing. The fewer people who knew of your past, the better.
Mando had been cautious to take you on as a passenger, but he’d grown more comfortable around you in the ensuing months. You’d tried keeping your distance, knowing that the secret you were keeping could ruin everything, but somehow, Mando had wormed his way under your skin.
A sudden noise startled you, and you looked up, eyes widening when you saw the slight shadow of what looked to be a Star Destroyer in the atmosphere. Frantically glancing around, you realized Mando was nowhere in sight.
You looked over to see Grogu still enclosed in the Force shield, and you made a split second decision.
“Sorry buddy, I’ve gotta warn Mando. Stay here.”
Worriedly glancing at his still form once more, you began to follow the trail Mando had taken down the mountain, hurrying as fast as you could over the rocky terrain.
It took you a couple minutes, but you finally heard voices. They were arguing, but no blasters were being shot, so you hoped they weren’t enemies, or at least, they wouldn’t shoot you on sight.
The ground leveled out, and you broke into a run. Rounding the corner, you saw the back of Mando, and two people in front of him, although you couldn’t see who they were.
“MANDO!” You yelled, trying to get his attention. “MANDO!”
He whirled around, and you stumbled to a stop in front of him, gasping. “Mando, there’s a Star Destroyer here, we have to–” your frantic plea suddenly cut off as you noticed the man standing behind Mando, your throat closing up and you felt the blood drain out of your face.
“Hey, hey, what is it?” Mando was shaking you, trying to get you to talk to him, but your eyes were glued to the man in the black cloak, unable to look away from the familiar face. “Cyar’ika, what’s wrong?”
You sucked in a shaky breath, desperately trying to stop the tears in your eyes falling down your cheeks. “I–I, I don’t–”
It was too much, the memories were too much, and suddenly you were back at the Temple, blaster-fire and smoke surrounding you as Rex begged you to leave so that you wouldn’t be killed. You were a scared little kid again, surrounded by death and destruction, and you couldn’t breathe–”
“Look at me!”
There were hands on your cheeks, and you blinked, the sounds of blasters and death cries fading into nothing as you stared into the dark visor of the Mandalorian. His gloved hands were cupping your cheeks keeping your face trained at him as he tried to get you to speak.
“Where’s the kid?”
That snapped you out of your downwards spiral, and suddenly a whole new panic took over your mind.
“He’s still at the seeing stone, but there’s a Star Destroyer, he won’t be safe as soon as the shield comes down, we have to go–”
Mando begins to move, tugging you along as he runs back up the side of the mountain, jumping over rocks and bushes as he fights to get back to Grogu as quick as possible. You stumble along, telling yourself to ignore the man that shares Rex’s face, just focus on getting to the kid and then you can have your breakdown, later in the privacy of the Crest.
When the two of you get back to the stone, you see Grogu still surrounded by the Force shield. Before you can stop him, Mando tries a second time to get to Grogu, but he gets thrown back again, this time knocking him out.
“Shit,” you groan, rolling him onto his back as you shake his shoulders. “Dammit Mando, now is not the time for this, wake up!”
He sits up with a groan, grabbing your arms as he regains consciousness. You’re kneeling in front of him, one hand on his arm, the other cupping the side of his neck. He shifts, and you slowly help him stand.
“Okay,” he murmurs, looking at Grogu before turning his head to stare at you. “I’m gonna protect you. Both of you. Just stay here.” He unsheathes his vibroblade, handing it to you. He doesn’t have many weapons on him, and you try to shove it back at him, but he forces your grasp around the hilt, fingers curling over yours as he presses it towards you. “I’ll be back soon.”
You stare into the visor, nodding slowly. He still doesn’t move, and for a moment you wonder what he’s doing when he slowly tilts his head forward, the cool beskar of his helmet resting against your forehead. He holds you there, one hand on your waist, the other wrapped around your fist as you clutch his vibroblade, his helmet pressing against yours in a gesture that feels way too intimate, but you don’t want it to stop.
“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum.”
Though you don’t understand his words, they still send a shiver down your spine, the weight of them pressing heavy against your chest.
“What does that mean?”
He sighs, finally pulling his head away from yours and standing back. “If we survive this, I’ll tell you.”
With that, he turns, and you watch with a sinking heart as he begins the careful climb back down the mountain. You’ve got a bad feeling about all this, and you only hope that you both will come out the other side unscathed.
A tiny whimper comes from behind you, and you whirl around, seeing the Force shield fade, and little Grogu slump over in exhaustion. Rushing over, you pick him up, cradling him in your arms.
“Brilliant timing, little one,” you mutter sarcastically, looking around nervously. “Just fantastic.”
The sound of blasters being fired and the cries of stormtroopers dying rang in your ears as you tried to get Grogu to wake up. But, apparently whatever he’d done on the seeing stone had completely sapped his energy.
As the sounds of the firefight die down, you see something rapidly approaching. As it gets closer, you realize what they are. Dark Troopers. Fuck. Your vibroblade isn’t going to do shit against them.
There’s nowhere for you to run, nowhere for you to hide, they’re approaching too fast. They land in a circle around you, and you clutch Grogu tighter to your chest. They advance, and Grogu wakes up, immediately whimpering as he sees the Troopers marching steadily closer. You’re hyperventilating, head whipping back and forth, trying to find an escape. As one of them reaches for Grogu, you throw your hand out, as though to push them away.
It’s sudden, the rush, the energy, and it takes you a moment, watching the Trooper fly backwards, for you to realize that you’ve just used the Force. Something brushes across your back and you whirl around, pushing out with the Force again, shoving the second Trooper away from you.
Unfortunately, you’re not fast enough, and the other two are too quick, one of them yanking Grogu out of your arms, the other one wrapping it’s ‘arms’ around you, restricting you, and then you’re in the air.
You struggle, but the grip is solid, and you can’t escape. You see Mando and the woman from earlier reach the stones as you’re rising away, and you can’t help the desperate cry that leaves your lips.
“MANDO!”
***
He reaches the seeing stone just in time to see two Dark Troopers taking off, one of them holding the Child, the other one restraining your struggling form. Without his jetpack, he’s stuck as a spectator to your abduction. He can see the tears on your cheeks, and he knows the exact moment you see him, because your mouth opens and a heartwrenching scream escapes your lips, calling desperately to him.
He falls to his knees as your voice pierces his ears, screaming his name, screaming for him. And all he can do is watch.

---------------------------------
You were seeing things.
You had to be seeing things.
Mando was skilled and he was tough, so there was no way that this was possible.
You did not spend all that time getting to know him and learning about him and falling in love with him for him to just be gone.
But you could see the wound just under his cuirass from here, could see the way his armor laid there unmoving even though you could distantly hear yourself calling his name again and again.
It was just a fucking quarry who managed to break free of his grip, so how could this fucking happen?
He wasn’t supposed to be killed by a routine he knew so well, by a person who was desperate not to be taken back to whoever paid for them, by the type of beings that he always dealt with easily.
The bounty was dead now too; you were dimly aware that you screamed as soon as you saw your friend, your companion, the man you were too afraid to tell— as soon as you saw Mando fall to the ground when his blaster was yanked off him.
You pulled out your own blaster and shot the other man without a single care, and you just stood there in shock for several moments, and now you were walking towards the two bodies and you kept saying his name and he still didn’t answer.
“Mando.” Your voice shook as you finally came to his side and you moved down to your knees, your hands hovering over him for a moment before you gently shook him. “Mando, come on. I know this...this is a trick…”
He didn’t answer, didn’t move, and your vision was blurry as you looked up at the sound of a coo to find Grogu slowly walking over. His ears were lowered and he looked at the man who’d practically become his father with big, sad eyes.
“No.” You sobbed, looking down at Mando and touching his chest, his helmet, his shoulders, as if he would tell you he was faking it or if he would jump up at your touch. “No.”
But he still remained as he was laying there on the ground.
You started to weep as you fell back slightly, unable to do anything but stare at him for any movement, even the tiniest flinch of his helmet or his gloved fingers.
“This can’t be happening...I need you. What am I supposed to do without you?” You were pleading with him like he could hear you, your voice tearful and trembling the more you realized that Mando was gone. “What about the baby? What are...what are we supposed to do?”
You didn’t know how long you just knelt there begging him not to go, telling him you loved him and apologizing for not telling him before; eventually you just sobbed into your hands until you couldn’t cry anymore and you just looked at his body, both of you empty in different ways.
Looking for comfort and closeness from him now that he was no longer there, wanting to spend just a minute more with him, you laid on the ground and lifted one of his arms so you could pull it around yourself as you pressed up against his side.
All you could do was stare straight ahead with your cheek pressed against his cuirass as the sun set, barely even noticing Grogu cuddling up where your hip met the man’s side.
Even though you’d desperately shaken him and begged him and confessed to him, it remained the same; Mando was...dead.
-------------------------
You managed to pull his body to the ship, leaving him there on the lower level as you took Grogu up to the cockpit.
You just sat there for a few minutes, not knowing what to do or where to go; what were you going to do with Mando? What were you supposed to do from here?
It occurred to you, as you sat there just staring at nothing, that this couldn’t be it for him.
There had to be a way to reverse this or bring him back or something, and you weren’t going to give up on him without trying your damnedest to find out if you could save him.
You knew there was a database on a nearby planet that had all the information they possibly could as told by ancestors or travelers, so you punched in the coordinates and guided the ship with determination.
A shaky determination that told you that you were being delusional, but that it couldn’t stop you from foolishly trying to find a way to bring the man you loved back from the dead.
You put Grogu in his satchel when the ship landed and put it over your shoulder, refusing to look down as you stepped over Mando on your way out. It seemed like everyone on the planet was looking at you, like they knew you were trying to do something impossible and stupid, and you walked to the database building as quickly as you could.
There were datapads connected to all the information and you passed by several different species who were looking up different things; some for whatever academy they went to, some for enjoyment.
You found a free datapad between a man and an Abenedo that you quickly walked over to, thinking for a moment before you quickly searched the database for the word ‘resurrection’.
Most of the information you scrolled through was about different religious beliefs and all the others seemed to be the titles for romance or mystery books. You scrolled faster and faster with a look of desperation, flipping through page after page in search of something about actually resurrecting someone.
“You’re not gonna find what you’re looking for here.” The voice to your right made you jump, looking at the man beside you who was eyeing your screen with amusement.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you said quickly, unconvincingly.
“Maybe I’m wrong, but you’re standing there looking up ‘resurrection’ and crying.”
You reached up to touch your cheeks, finding that your fingers came away wet because you’d started crying when you realized there wasn’t anything in the database.
The man looked around to be certain no one was listening and then he crooked his finger as he backed away. “Come with me and I can give you information about someone who can help.”
Maybe it was stupid to trust this strange man promising you valuable information so easily, but you were willing to try anything if it meant a chance at bringing Mando back, so you followed him to a quieter part of the building.
He once again looked to see if anyone was listening and then he grabbed a datapad, typing on it quickly.
“You want to find Ratik Tillie, she lives in the forests of Corellia, she’ll give you the ingredients and the ritual you need to focus the power. You’ll find her,” he spoke as quickly as he could then showed you the coordinates for the location.
“Thank you.” You read over the coordinates a few times before turning to go back to the Razor Crest, only stopping when the man called out.
“Do you know the Force?”
“Uh, yes, obviously.”
You lied because you didn’t know what he was talking about, bolting off to the ship and making your way up to the cockpit, putting in the coordinates as fast as you could and taking off towards Corellia.
Lightspeed allowed you to be there within minutes and you landed right in the forest, not looking down at your feet again as you walked to the ramp and onto the planet.
There was a shack or a hut, you didn’t know the proper term for the little home. You supposed that was where this woman lived and you moved to knock on the door.
“Come in, come in.” The door opened, but there was no one standing there.
“—hello?” You stepped into the house and looked around until your eyes landed on a small, older woman who was tending to a pot of something. “Ratik? I was told I could talk to you about—”
“Resurrection.” She looked at you with a knowing smile.
“You know because I’m crying, right?” Though there weren’t any tears on your cheeks when you touched them this time.
“No, dear, your sadness is obvious. Your spouse?” She hummed when you shook your head, tilting her own. “Your lover.”
“No.” You looked down at the floor.
“Unrequited then?” Her guess made you look up at her again and she smiled, nodding. “But a friend nonetheless. You don’t know what to do without him.”
You didn’t know how she knew so much, but it built your faith that the man was right, that this woman would know how to bring Mando back.
You watched as she moved to a shelf and grabbed a few things, looking to your side when you heard Grogu let out a coo. He was looking up at you questioningly and you figured he just didn’t know what was going on.
Ratik walked over to you with a few glass bottles, some with plants and others with substances you didn’t recognize, and she tucked some into the bag with the baby then handed the rest to you.
She told you where you needed to go and explained that you needed to mix the ingredients in a bowl she put in the bag. “You’re just going to focus all your power on him.”
“Thank you.” You reached up to squeeze her shoulder and moved to grab credits out of the satchel, but she put a hand over yours, staring at you with almost fondness.
“With all that power between the two of you, this will work out just fine. You’re certain this is what you want?” Her eyes were blue, you noticed, as she looked up at you like she knew you.
“I want him back.”
“Then go. Take it for free. You’ll know when you’ve completed the ritual.”
You smiled softly, nodding before you walked out of the house and back to the Razor Crest.
Mando was still there on the floor, but you hoped that would change if you followed this Ratik’s ritual and were able to summon enough ‘power’.
What she meant by you and Grogu having enough power for this to work out fine, you didn’t know.
Maybe she was simply referring to your will to bring Mando back, that you needed to really mean it and want it for something like this to work properly.
Either way, you put in the coordinates for the planet she told you about; it was apparently a source of power in itself just outside of a planet that was focused on this power, and that was where it was best to attempt these rituals.
It looked like any other planet to you. You walked through the grass to a private spot where you thought you might not be interrupted and you set Grogu down before you took out all the ingredients.
You mixed them into the bowl she provided with your hands and then looked over at the kid, nodding slightly. “We just need to think of Mando.”
Closing your eyes, you tried to think only of Mando; of how you loved him, of how much you wanted him with you again so you could tell him.
Thunder rolled overhead and there was a flash of lightning, making the baby coo in fear and quickly crawl into your lap. You let him hold onto one of your hands that was messy with the ingredients, trying again to think of Mando.
You didn’t see the bowl trembling or how the ingredients were slowly disappearing like someone was taking them, but Grogu did and he whimpered, trying to tug on your hand.
You normally would’ve looked at him to see if he was okay, but all you could think about was Mando, your thoughts practically running around in your head and trapping you inside them like a fortress.
There was another clap of thunder right above you, almost deafening, and it seemed to set off a switch in your head that had you crying out, falling forward onto your hands and knees.
You didn’t even notice that Grogu rolled out of your lap as your thoughts turned dark and sinister, like every bit of hate and anger in the galaxy was now yours and yours alone.
It crawled into your chest and made you grip on tightly to the grass, wanting to rip every last bit of the ugly, green plant out of the ground as you trembled with pure rage.
You hated the grass.
You hated this planet.
You hated that man and Ratik.
You even hated Mando.
That thought released the hate and you fell back onto your heels with a gasp as your normal emotions came back, your eyes opening wide at the fact that you could feel that, that you could think that.
You sat there panting for a long moment before your eyes moved down to the now-empty bowl and then went to Grogu. “Did you eat it?”
He was looking at you with fright in his eyes and you realized you probably scared him with how you’d been acting, not caring whether he ate the mixture or not as you took him into your arms.
“I’m sorry, buddy, I don’t know what that was…” You looked up at the sky as the thunder now rolled in the distance. “Maybe that was it? Should we go check on...you know?”
There weren’t further instructions than mixing together the ingredients and focusing on Mando, and she said you would know when the ritual was complete…
It seemed to you like it was.
You grabbed the bowl and put Grogu on your hip as you walked back to the Razor Crest, hesitating slightly before you walked up the ramp.
Mando was still there, unmoving on the floor, and you pressed your back against the wall, tears quickly filling your eyes because it didn’t work. It was all you could do and it didn’t kriffing work.
Did you not finish it correctly? Did you not have this supposed ‘power’ or ‘Force’ that both the man and Ratki mentioned? Was it all just a joke and you were absolutely stupid for thinking you could resurrect him?
It was really just you and Grogu now, wasn’t it?
You let the kid down where he toddled over to Mando and you dropped your head into your hands as you sobbed, sliding down to the floor and bringing your knees up to your chest.
You didn’t know what to do now.
You didn’t know where to go.
The sound of a gasp made you jump slightly and you quickly lifted your head to see that the unmoving body was now sitting up, his helmet turning every which way as he looked around himself, and your eyes widened in disbelief. “—Mando?”
