some cpns in my head today…. 🍭🍬
not @ them proving that they do read what’s on the internet. with yibo who spoke about reading what people posted about him when he was sick. also zz who shared a review about ygy that he liked and then his thoughts about melons. they do have time to look and read. i just hope they don’t get too caught up in some doom scrolling and check more about the good things people say about their works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it wouldn’t hurt if they visit the bjyx supertopic too lol . which we suspect they do. 🙈🙈🙈
there is also some talk about how WYB is in today’s road show. of course he is still coughing and there is still some trace of him being sick but the fuck. look at him. in HD and unedited, this is sick yibo? so handsome! He was also smiley and attentive. speaking so well. amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the speculation is, for the past days, GG is doing Condor Heroes work early. Like 7:00 or 8:00 AM. then on the 26th, when WYB had to cancel, he arrived 9:00 AM. Then when WYB went back to work, XZ arrived at CH set before noon. people are thinking XZ gave extra time to be with WYB today before he has to join the One and Only promos again. and that’s why, even if the sickness is still there, our WYB was still in a good mood. 😌
THEM. 💓💓💓
Tumblr media
Da Peng attending a 10:05 showing of One and Only. It could be because it’s the earliest showing in the morning but I love how he’s not scared of 1005. knowing how certain people got “mad” about him for being “cpf-friendly” when he’s really just a decent human being who appreciates those who support the film.
Tumblr media
BUT WHAT I DEFINITELY WANNA TALK ABOUT IS FREAKIN KAI XIAO ZAO POST. This one. ⬇️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the logical explanation : the post is about chengdu world university games. which coincidentally, yibo made a promotional vcr for.
the cpn explanation:
1. The freakin time it was posted 18:00 ( YIBO ) and the premiere day of One and Only. They could have easily used 10:05 to represent XZ like they usually do but somehow they used 18:00.
2. Spicy Wonton which is what they ate during CQL filming.
3. How the color RED is the theme of it. I’m thinking how the E-Mark dance crew are wearing all red jackets in the finals ( if you see the trailers ).
4. Youth??? Dreams??? Enthusiasm??? Uhmmm. These buzz words scream One and Only to me.
-END.

im not op but im gonna bounce off on it still!!!! mt such a great analysis i love what youre saying about how the narrative in tyk works, how through recontextualization (either by the narrative itself, shifting angles at a later date, or the reader when rereading the novel) things come to light that were intentionally or by happenstance hidden before. many thoughts regarding narrative and how it works (and how zzs makes use of it). this topic specifically has my brain rotting since i first read the novel. tyk has always felt like a tragedy disguised as a comedy to me, youre putting it so well. anyway, this is not an analysis but your words (and also op‘s words) reminded me of the scene in ch.8 (i think) when wenzhou are in the forest and investigate these two sudden murders and follow wkx‘s underling into the abandoned graveyard. especially the scene at the graveyard, told through zzs‘s eyes, is so super interesting to me. i imagine in other wuxia stories this would be atmospheric, spooky, maybe intimidating and creepy. but zzs seems so unimpressed! he relays the atmospheric markers (he remarks on the state of the graveyard, mentions the rat with its red eyes, the single owl perching utop the branch, the odd fog) but narrates it in such a way that the first time reading it, it sounded jarring and almost comical to me. it gets even weirder by wkx starting with his ghost stories and trying to impress zzs, who continues to not be impressed at all. i feel like, since zzs is such a die hard jianghu fanboy, and this is basically his first time doing jianghu things (and he seems to be aware that this scenario is characteristically wuxia), he is basically not just narrating whats happening but also commenting upon it from the angle of someone who had higher expectations and is very eager to follow that path to its end to see what turns up, but doesnt really seem all that moved when happening upon these things in reality. zzs is not the usual wuxia hero, and tyk is very earnest in taking these differences and zzs‘s familiarity with violence seriously and has zzs react and act in authentic ways. like, when they find that murder scene in the woods upon following the scream, and immediately start their weird investigation-flirting-insulting and wkx goes and casually pulls that guy whos hanging in a tree to the ground so they can have a better look at it, and it just severs the poor guy’s head. thats so fucked up and strange!!!!! but its so downplayed its actually jarring!!!! its almost comical!!!!! anyway hello hi hello mt!!!! i didnt mean to write so much i just have a lot of thoughts hehehehe
hahaha hello!!!! Sorry I took so much time to respond!!
Yes yes to all this!! Essentially answering so this can be out in the open hehehe. One thing that I feel like reacting to, though---translating Qi Ye, I recently stumbled upon several references of ZZS being a "seasoned jianghu traveller" and having had a lot of experience in jianghu already; so I guess we can conclude that he does have experience in jianghu (only that he left it around 8-9 years ago) but that he probably always had a remote look at it, from the shadows from which Siji operated. This time, he gets to "play" too, in a way. I feel like, given how smug he tends to sound when bringing up Siji's skills and activities, he may have this sort of patronizing look on the "sillier", more "classical" strange wuxia adventures, which he has been able to watch but almost like a puppet master (since Siji controlled a lot of the politics etc) and his fun, curious, detached and "demystifying" approach could be reflecting that. Anyway, thank you so much for the thoughts!!!

I’ve yapped about how much I love this scene because of its romance-tragedy-love-pride-desire-understanding-etc. and groused about its omission from SHL, but my dumb ass just realised that I love it because this is the pivotal event—the Jonbar hinge—of WKX’s entire character arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In an alternate universe, WKX destroyed ZZS’s martial arts here. “Neither human nor ghost”, WKX was faced with two choices. In the end, 20 years of accumulated ruthlessness and the justified desire to save ZZS lost to ZZS’s words, and WKX chose the painful path of being human.
Tumblr media
TYK’s “Yes, I understand” is a small scene tucked between two action set pieces, but it determined WKX and WenZhou’s trajectory. The lull in the action, the sudden temptation, a choice made—the momentousness of which the MC was not fully cognisant—remind me of Galadriel’s choice. A whole arc of temptation and temptation rejected in a few lines, and this, in turn, changed everything.
Tumblr media
It is one of the simplest forms of storytelling: a hand reaches out to take; a hand is withdrawn. WKX could have closed his fingers around ZZS’s light and entrapped ZZS, but he cupped that light in his palm instead, and when WKX asked for ZZS to stay, ZZS did.
(Also displayed is ZZS’s personality: amenable to persuasion, but not to coercion. He refused when WKX tried to use force, demurred when WKX used manipulation, and only relented when WKX voiced an honest request.)
Tumblr media
The “Yes, I understand” scene in TYK is the climax of WKX’s entire plot and character arc, but from ZZS’s perspective, it’s just seven measly paragraphs in Chapter 48, NBD.

Dag! So I figured I’d start with Izar’s alphabet just so y’all know what to expect in regards to pronunciation:
Izar alphabet
Aa - [ä]
Ää - [æ]
Bb - [b]
Cc - [x]
Dd - [d]
Ee - [e~ɛ]
Ff - [f]
Gg - [g]
Hh - [h]
Ii - [i~ɪ]
Jj - [j]
Kk - [k]
Ll - [l]
Mm - [m]
Nn - [n], [ŋ] before k, g, c, or x
Oo - [o~ɔ]
Öö - [ə]
Pp - [p]
Rr - [r~ɾ]
Ss - [s]
Tt - [t]
Uu - [u~ʊ]
Vv - [v]
Ww - [w]
Xx - [ɣ]
Yy - [ɨ]
Ýý - [ʉ]
Zz - [z]
Åå - [ɒ]
A few notes: E, i, o, and u are typically more closed [e i o u] if in an open syllable or if only followed by one consonant, but more open [ɛ ɪ ɔ ʊ] if in a closed syllable or followed by more than one consonant. This actually makes words ending in those vowels + one consonant unpredictable - as a common feature of Germanic languages that Izar lacks is differing between long and short vowels, often by the number of consonants following a vowel. This also means that doubled consonants (and, also, vowels) will rarely appear, except in compound words. Also, <c> represents Nordic soft <k> and <kj>, along with West Germanic <ch>, and <x> represents Nordic soft <g> and <gj>.
And yes, Izar is both North and West Germanic. However, it has a lot of Icelandic influence, shown by both its grammar *and* some of its words. There is also some Dutch influence, but most of the foreign language influence on Izar is Icelandic.
With that being said - it has two standard dialects! Northeastern and Southwestern. Northeastern Izar contains more Nordic words, whereas Southwestern Izar contains more West Germanic words. For nouns, that can mean that the gender of a noun changes (yes there is grammatical gender!), but not the actual word itself.
Hopefully that gives you all enough insight on what to expect from how words are spelled! :D
Also here’s the previous Izar post.

Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.
One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!
['a', 'd', 'e', 'g', 'h', 'j', 'l', 'm', 'q', 'r', 't', 'x', 'z', 'aa', 'ab', 'ad', 'ae', 'af', 'ah', 'ai', 'aj', 'ak', 'an', 'ao', 'ap', 'aq', 'av', 'aw', 'ax', 'ay', 'az', 'bb', 'bc', 'bd', 'bf', 'bg', 'bj', 'bl', 'bm', 'bn', 'bo', 'bp', 'bq', 'bs', 'bt', 'bu', 'bv', 'bw', 'bx', 'by', 'bz', 'cb', 'cc', 'cg', 'ch', 'ci', 'cj', 'ck', 'cp', 'cq', 'ct', 'cv', 'cw', 'cx', 'cy', 'cz', 'da', 'dc', 'dd', 'de', 'df', 'dg', 'dh', 'di', 'dj', 'dk', 'dl', 'dm', 'dn', 'do', 'dp', 'dq', 'dr', 'dt', 'du', 'dv', 'dw', 'dx', 'dz', 'ea', 'eb', 'ec', 'ed', 'ee', 'ef', 'eg', 'eh', 'ei', 'ej', 'ek', 'el', 'em', 'en', 'eo', 'ep', 'eq', 'et', 'ev', 'ew', 'ex', 'ey', 'ez', 'fa', 'fb', 'fc', 'fd', 'ff', 'fg', 'fh', 'fi', 'fj', 'fk', 'fn', 'fo', 'fp', 'fq', 'fs', 'ft', 'fu', 'fv', 'fw', 'fx', 'fy', 'fz', 'gb', 'gc', 'gf', 'gg', 'gh', 'gi', 'gj', 'gk', 'gl', 'gm', 'gn', 'go', 'gp', 'gq', 'gr', 'gs', 'gt', 'gu', 'gv', 'gw', 'gx', 'gy', 'gz', 'ha', 'hb', 'hc', 'hd', 'hh', 'hi', 'hj', 'hk', 'hl', 'hm', 'hn', 'hp', 'hq', 'hr', 'ht', 'hu', 'hv', 'hw', 'hx', 'hy', 'hz', 'ia', 'ib', 'ic', 'id', 'ie', 'if', 'ig', 'ih', 'ii', 'ij', 'ik', 'il', 'im', 'io', 'ip', 'iq', 'is', 'it', 'iu', 'iv', 'iw', 'ix', 'iy', 'iz', 'ja', 'jb', 'jc', 'jd', 'je', 'jf', 'jg', 'jh', 'ji', 'jj', 'jk', 'jl', 'jm', 'jn', 'jo', 'jp', 'jq', 'jr', 'js', 'jt', 'ju', 'jv', 'jw', 'jx', 'jy', 'jz', 'ka', 'kb', 'kc', 'kd', 'ke', 'kf', 'kg', 'kh', 'ki', 'kj', 'kk', 'kl', 'km', 'kn', 'ko', 'kp', 'kq', 'ks', 'kt', 'ku', 'kv', 'kw', 'kx', 'ky', 'kz', 'lb', 'lc', 'ld', 'le', 'lf', 'lg', 'lh', 'lj', 'lk', 'll', 'lm', 'ln', 'lo', 'lp', 'lq', 'ls', 'lt', 'lw', 'lx', 'ly', 'lz', 'ma', 'mb', 'me', 'mf', 'mh', 'mi', 'mj', 'mk', 'ml', 'mm', 'mp', 'mq', 'mr', 'ms', 'mu', 'mv', 'mw', 'mx', 'my', 'mz', 'nc', 'nf', 'ng', 'nj', 'nk', 'nl', 'nm', 'nn', 'nq', 'nr', 'ns', 'nt', 'nu', 'nv', 'nw', 'nx', 'ny', 'nz', 'oa', 'ob', 'oc', 'od', 'oe', 'of', 'oh', 'oi', 'oj', 'ok', 'ol', 'om', 'on', 'oo', 'op', 'oq', 'or', 'ot', 'ou', 'ov', 'ow', 'ox', 'oy', 'oz', 'pc', 'pe', 'pf', 'pg', 'ph', 'pi', 'pj', 'pk', 'pl', 'pn', 'pp', 'pq', 'ps', 'pv', 'pw', 'px', 'py', 'pz', 'qa', 'qb', 'qc', 'qd', 'qe', 'qf', 'qg', 'qh', 'qi', 'qj', 'qk', 'ql', 'qm', 'qn', 'qo', 'qp', 'qq', 'qr', 'qs', 'qt', 'qu', 'qv', 'qw', 'qx', 'qy', 'qz', 'rc', 'rd', 'ri', 'rj', 'rk', 'rl', 'rm', 'ro', 'rp', 'rq', 'rr', 'rs', 'rt', 'rv', 'rw', 'rx', 'ry', 'rz', 'sa', 'sd', 'sf', 'sh', 'sj', 'sk', 'sl', 'so', 'sp', 'sq', 'ss', 'st', 'su', 'sv', 'sw', 'sx', 'sy', 'sz', 'td', 'tf', 'tg', 'tj', 'tk', 'tn', 'to', 'tp', 'tq', 'tr', 'tt', 'tu', 'tv', 'tw', 'tx', 'ty', 'tz', 'ua', 'ub', 'uc', 'ud', 'ue', 'uf', 'ug', 'uh', 'ui', 'uj', 'uk', 'ul', 'um', 'un', 'uo', 'up', 'uq', 'ur', 'us', 'ut', 'uu', 'uv', 'uw', 'ux', 'uy', 'uz', 'va', 'vb', 'vc', 'vd', 've', 'vf', 'vg', 'vh', 'vi', 'vj', 'vk', 'vl', 'vm', 'vn', 'vo', 'vp', 'vq', 'vr', 'vs', 'vt', 'vu', 'vv', 'vw', 'vx', 'vy', 'vz', 'wa', 'wb', 'wc', 'wd', 'we', 'wf', 'wg', 'wh', 'wi', 'wj', 'wk', 'wl', 'wm', 'wn', 'wo', 'wp', 'wq', 'wr', 'ws', 'wt', 'wu', 'wv', 'ww', 'wx', 'wy', 'wz', 'xa', 'xb', 'xc', 'xd', 'xf', 'xg', 'xh', 'xi', 'xj', 'xk', 'xl', 'xm', 'xn', 'xo', 'xp', 'xq', 'xr', 'xs', 'xt', 'xu', 'xv', 'xw', 'xx', 'xy', 'xz', 'ya', 'yc', 'yd', 'ye', 'yf', 'yg', 'yh', 'yi', 'yj', 'yk', 'yl', 'ym', 'yn', 'yo', 'yp', 'yq', 'yr', 'ys', 'yt', 'yu', 'yv', 'yw', 'yx', 'yy', 'yz', 'za', 'zb', 'zc', 'zd', 'ze', 'zf', 'zg', 'zh', 'zi', 'zj', 'zk', 'zl', 'zm', 'zo', 'zp', 'zq', 'zs', 'zt', 'zu', 'zv', 'zw', 'zx', 'zy', 'zz']

i dont think zzs has relationship ocd, but i can see a lot of myself in him. his insecurity regarding what other people (people he cares about) might think and feel of him, this obsessive need to find out the „truth“ and this almost conspiracy-like conviction that there always is a „hidden truth“ beneath. this crippling fear that others might lie to you and you might not be able to see it. this conviction that others lie, even when they do not, because the sincerity of their emotions, their honest expression without traps or fallbacks or holdbacks, is just too unbelievable to not be artificial. this seeing patterns where none might be, and obsessively following clues that might lead nowhere. thats why i prefer the reading that zzs essentially misunderstood both jq and ljx (ch.47 and ch.61 of qi ye respectively), and that for the latter, it signed zzs‘s downwards spiral. if u interpret their last conversation in qi ye as zzs viewing ljx as rejecting him and as all ljx does is trying to save him from himself and understand him, zzs‘s later habits post-tianchuang and how he views some of ljx‘s words from that conversation (ch.20, ch.27) (and the discrepancy as can be seen in ch.76 of qi ye in what zzs believes ljx‘s very last words on this earth were vs what they actually were, which lends strength to this reading as it fits the „theme“), his failure at reading ppl he feels personally a lot towards, even though he technically has all the facts or there might be an easier explanation that is not as abstract as the one he favours, makes a lot of sense. now, i have started a new reread of tyk and im seeing wkx in a somewhat different light. he is incredibly odd and off-putting and even i, who knows the final and should know his character, have a hard time getting a read of him almost all the time during much of their earlier interactions (ch. 6-13). what is wkx doing here? is he lying or does he believe what he says? is this an act or are his thoughts truly this jumpy? how much of his „im an odd ghost im odd“ persona is a persona, how much is a reflection of the truth? that means zzs‘s conviction that wkx is trying to deceive him is not that off-track, and considering that wkx gives me the strong impression that he IS instrumentalizing the one weakness he found zzs, that glib vagrant, to have (being flirted with), and seems to maintain it all the way until he realizes zzs is going to fucking die (ch.29, moment i personally view as wkx‘s breakthrough), im not even faulting zzs for, well, picking up on it. still. you can tell that his thoughts and his explanations are obsessive and self-destructive, that this is less about whether or not wkx is playing him, and more that zzs does not believe he is worthy of love and sincerity (ch.18, first time he actually spells it out). so, i do not think zzs has some type of ocd in that regard; he only needs a heart-to-heart with wkx and then he is „cured“ (ch.65). but i do think his narrative reflects a lot of what it can feel like to live with relationship ocd, to be in the mind of someone who has ocd, and all the convulted and bizarre actions and conclusions such a person is comitting and drawing, because of their twisted worldview

Okay, I wrote a test page for Scela's story, to help figure out how I want to write it. I'm thinking I'll have her be the narrator, telling the story to the reader.
This is what I wanted to do for Skizzy as well, cause it lets it be a bit more personal, and also be in first person while still having of the advantages of a narrator.
Anyways, here's the test page. (Note: Everything written small is meant to be in a different font, but Tumblr doesn't support font swapping. I was gonna use different colors, but that didn't look good.)
Scela Test Page:
Sulna, Ira Scela. His untla jenf ira, fik rixes sela iyagex Valcuda, fik garaplix cansales pu vux gaurix.
Sorry, you don't speak Selaguix, do you? Do you even know how to read it correctly? No, no of course you don't, you're a 'fela', a human, not many care to learn Selaguix anymore.
Well, I guess I'll just have to translate everything to Felaguix for you.
But, since I'm a native Selaguix speaker, I'll give you a brief overview of it, so you can at least pronounce it 'uik', correctly.
To start, although we use similar symbols, some of them are pronounced differently. For starters, f is pronounced as a soft "th", so it isn't "Fella guix" it's "Thay-la-goo-eex". The irony of it is that f is associated with your kind, the 'fela'. The next is k, which is pronounced as "ch", like "chirp". Then there's a, pronounced as "au", e as "eh", i as "ee", o as "oh", u as "ou", and the rest are pronounced as you usually would, with 2 exceptions, S and V. You might be 'foluixroto', thinking, "How do you make the ff sound?", since we use f for "th". Well, a V can be pronounced as either "ff" or "vv", we don't differentiate between them. You can pronounced 'vernel' as "veh-ern-nel" or "feh-ern-nel", and everyone will know what your talking about. It's the same with S, it can be pronounced as either "Ss" or "Zz". So "Seh-la-goo-eex" and "Zeh-la-goo-eex" both mean the same thing.
Isn't it 'talo', fun, to learn a new language? Even if just the basics? It's strange how time changes things, isn't it? All those many 'mauligex' ago, or years ago, back when my journey took place, it seemed as though everyone could speak Selaguix.
Oh yes, you didn't understand the first thing I said, did you?
Well, let's get this story started for real, though I guess I'll have to tell you a mere translation of it, from Selaguix to Felaguix.
Hello, my name is Scela. This is a story about me, and a person named Valcuda, and our journey to save then world. To defeat a monster, who wished to tear it apart.
Test Page End
I might use that as the opening, for the first draft at least, since I did write it as it was one, and I think it works well enough, though that is just meant to be test.
I think it's important to write a test page for every main and side character, since it lets you get a better idea of how they talk, and see what you do or don't want to do with them.
For Scela, I want her to come across as thinking she's superior, talking down everyone. I also think I want to give a minor dislike for "felaguix".
I don't know exactly what I want to do for Valcuda, though I guess I won't be having any chapters with his POV, so I don't have to worry about it too much. I know I want him to come across as strong, honorable, and courageous at least.

Dreadful & Bad Sin
Tumblr media
In diesem Sinne: „MAKE ROCK’N’ROLL GREAT AGAIN“ Dreadful (CH)Die Muotathaler Naturgewalt rollt an!
