↬ hellish elysian
Elysian - relating to or characteristic of heaven or paradise.
Pairing: Crowley x afab!Reader Warnings: Smut, MDNI, 18+ ONLY ⇆ P in V sex, unprotected sex, oral (female receiving), choking / breath play, impact play, hair pulling, degradation, mention of blood kink
Tumblr media
The original objective of this entire situation had been manipulation. But, at this point, it was impossible to tell who was manipulating whom – or if that was at all part of the dynamic anymore.
Post-human blood debacle, Crowley felt more vulnerable than he had in a few hundred years. Being around demons too often felt risky, lest they sniff out his vulnerability & use it to their advantage. But he craved touch, affection, and closeness – which made him feel like a whiny child, but he couldn't get rid of the craving without satiating it. The best option, in this “between a rock and a hard place” scenario, was none other than one of the people who had a hand in attempting to make him human.
You.
You clearly knew of his involvement in the third trial, and you were a human. Even though you were a hunter – a damn good one, at that – you were still just a human, so he viewed you as less of a threat than any demons he could use for sex.
Or, at least, that's how he justified it. The truth was that Crowley had wanted to fuck you since the day he met you – first just to piss off Moose and Squirrel, then simply because something about you made his trousers tighter.
On your end, the rationale wasn't too different from Crowley's. Given the endless flirtatious comments the King of Hell threw your way, you often contemplated whether you could use sex as a bargaining chip with him. Sure, he was undeniably hot, and something about that gravely accented voice made you flush. But it didn't seem to be a card you truly wanted to play – until you basically got a late night “booty call” text from an unmistakable 666 phone number.
You got some juicy intel out of it, and a couple of ancient relics, both of which helped on the next couple of hunts. The next time, you got a very old, very powerful protection amulet. The third time… well, you came so hard you passed out, so you just called that transaction square. The fourth time was just a lavish dinner, a horse-drawn carriage ride around Paris at night, and a stay in a hotel that was so over-the-top fancy you could scarcely believe your eyes.
You lost track after that, but eventually… there were no transactions, no trades. Just mind-blowing, spine-melting, moral-disintegrating sex.
Crowley still bought you dresses with four-figure price tags to wear to swanky restaurants, followed by stays in five star hotels or rented million-dollar homes, fucking the brains out of one another on every surface. But somewhere along the way, any attempts at personal gain via manipulation were lost, and the two of you just enjoyed each other's company.
Which is what brought you to your current position – naked on silk sheets, barely clinging to consciousness as the King of Hell made you cum on his tongue for the umpteenth time that evening.
Crowley spoke, but you could barely hear him over the ringing in your ears. It sounded like he was far away as you gasped for air, eyes closed as you came down from your high.
“You look so pretty like this, pet,” he purred, absentmindedly kissing your inner thighs – each peck of his lips making you twitch. “Fucked within an inch of your life by none other than moi. Oh, I love to see it.”
Agonizingly slow, Crowley made his way up your body, leaving nips and kisses in his wake. Thighs, hips, stomach, breasts, throat, jaw – and, finally, your lips. As he situated himself between your legs, the familiar feeling of his rock hard cock grinding against your soaked pussy invaded your senses, causing you to sigh into the kiss. He continued to glide his shaft through your folds, teasing you until you began to whine.
“Something you want, darling?” Crowley asked lightheartedly, grinding harder against you. When you merely whined and hooked your legs around him, trying to pull him closer, he let out a condescending tsk tsk tsk. “You know what to say to get exactly what you want.”
However, his smirk faded when you rolled your eyes.
“I am not saying that.”
“You will if you want me to finish the job.”
That only made you smile, because god, it was always so fun to call his bluffs.
You shrugged, moving to leave the bed, “Meh, the job is finished enough, I'd say. We can go ahead and call it a day.”
Lightning fast, Crowley let out a quiet growl, grabbed you by the jaw, turned your head to face him, agitation written all over his face. You merely smiled – which only irked him more.
“Fine. You don't have to call me ‘my king.’ Just… just get back over here,” Crowley demanded, his voice becoming marginally more desperate at the end. You complied, falling into his arms on the bed, and he wasted no time in capturing you in a searing kiss.
One of his hands drifted lower to pump himself a few times, before snarling, “Cocky little bitch, aren’t you?” Before you could retort, he plunged into you in one swift thrust.
A loud, debauched moan escaped you, and you mindlessly raked your nails down Crowley’s back, earning a hiss from him – but you knew him well enough by now to know that he liked it.
The demon set a merciless pace, burying his face in the crook of your neck, beard scratching the sensitive flesh there.
“Hit me.”
The words fell from your lips before you’d even fully thought them through, but Crowley was never one to hesitate. Almost instantly, you felt his palm collide with your cheek – somehow with the perfect amount of pain to make it absurdly pleasurable.
You toppled over an edge you didn’t even realize you’d been approaching, coming undone beneath him with a scream. Vaguely, you heard Crowley hum in amusement. Before you’d fully regained your senses, he was flipping you onto your stomach and pulling your hips up to meet his, using his grip on you as leverage to resume harshly fucking you. He seemed to be aware that you were practically mindless at this point, as he manhandled you however he pleased.
As a cacophony of wet, lewd sounds and moans filled the room, you momentarily had enough mental clarity to recall why the nature of this arrangement was so hot: it’s wrong. It’s so goddamn wrong – for a skilled hunter to be knocking boots with the literal King of Hell. But fuck, does it feel so right when he’s inside of you – hitting your sweet spot with brutal, precise thrusts, pulling your hair harshly to force you upright and into a messy kiss.
When the kiss broke, you let your head fall back onto Crowley’s shoulder, and his heavy breathing hit your ear as he wrapped a strong hand around your throat, squeezing just the right amount. You clenched around him, and he groaned – low and deep.
“Such a filthy whore you are, darling,” Crowley stated, that damned gravelly, accented voice causing you to clench around him again. Keeping one hand around your throat, the other drifted from your hip to your clit, rubbing steady circles over it. “Mm, you love it when I talk to you, don't you? Whether it’s praise or degradation – as long as I’m talking, it gets you moaning and gripping my cock like a bitch in heat. You’re positively vile, pet. And I love it.”
There were tears streaming down your face from listening to him, and from him toying with your overstimulated clit, and the sight brought a dark chuckle from deep within Crowley’s chest.
“My little succubus,” he mused, then abruptly slapped you again before returning that hand to your throat to give it a firm squeeze.
It was all too much. You came again with a strangled cry of his name. Ever the egomaniac, hearing you finish with his name on your lips was almost always his ending point as well, and Crowley bit down harshly onto your shoulder as he finished inside of you.
The pair of you fell to your sides on the bed, spooning with his cock still inside of you. Crowley draped his arm around your waist, then kissed the bite mark he left on your shoulder. When you turned your head slightly to speak to him, your breath was stolen from your lungs when you noticed the crimson blood on his lips. He opened his mouth to apologize for having bitten you so hard, but then he noticed the way your jaw hung slack, your breathing grew heavier, and your pupils darkened to the point that your irises were fully eclipsed. And he smirked.
“A blood kink, love? Always full of surprises, aren’t we?”
“Go to sleep, Crowley.”
“Another time then,” he replied, not missing the way you smiled as you turned away from him.

Zack Beauchamp at Vox:
I met Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Donald Trump’s new choice for vice president, in the summer of 2022. I was covering a conservative conference in Israel, and Vance was the surprise VIP attraction. We chatted for a bit about the connections between right-wing movements across the world, and what American conservatives could learn from foreign peers. He was friendly, thoughtful, and smart — much smarter than the average politician I’ve interviewed. Yet his worldview is fundamentally incompatible with the basic principles of American democracy.
Vance has said that, had he been vice president in 2020, he would have carried out Trump’s scheme for the vice president to overturn the election results. He has fundraised for January 6 rioters. He once called on the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into a Washington Post columnist who penned a critical piece about Trump. After last week’s assassination attempt on Trump, he attempted to whitewash his radicalism by blaming the shooting on Democrats’ rhetoric about democracy without an iota of evidence. This worldview translates into a very aggressive agenda for a second Trump presidency. In a podcast interview, Vance said that Trump should “fire every single mid-level bureaucrat” in the US government and “replace them with our people.” If the courts attempt to stop this, Vance says, Trump should simply ignore the law. “You stand before the country, like Andrew Jackson did, and say the chief justice has made his ruling, now let him enforce it,” he declares.
The President Jackson quote is likely apocryphal, but the history is real. Vance is referring to an 1832 case, Worcester v. Georgia, in which the Supreme Court ruled that the US government needed to respect Native legal rights to land ownership. Jackson ignored the ruling, and continued a policy of allowing whites to take what belonged to Natives. The end result was the ethnic cleansing of about 60,000 Natives — an event we now call the Trail of Tears. For most Americans, this history is a deep source of shame: an authoritarian president trampling on the rule of law to commit atrocities. For Vance, it is a well of inspiration. J.D. Vance is a man who believes that the current government is so corrupt that radical, even authoritarian steps, are justified in response. He sees himself as the avatar of America’s virtuous people, whose political enemies are interlopers scarcely worthy of respect. He is a man of the law who believes the president is above it.
[...] The Vance of Hillbilly Elegy was very different politically. Back then, he took a conventional conservative line on poverty, describing the working class as beset by a cultural pathology encouraged by federal handouts and the welfare state. 2016 Vance was also an ardent Trump foe. He wrote a New York Times op-ed titled “Mr. Trump Is Unfit For Our Nation’s Highest Office,” and wrote a text to his law school roommate warning that Trump might be “America’s Hitler.” Eight years later, Vance has metamorphosed into something else entirely. Today, he pitches himself as an economic populist and cosponsors legislation with Sen. Elizabeth Warren curtailing pay for failed bankers. In an even more extreme shift, he has morphed into one of Trump’s leading champions in the Senate — backing the former president to the hilt and even, at times, outpacing him in anti-democratic fervor.
[...] And it is clear that Vance is deeply ensconced in the GOP’s growing “national conservative” faction, which pairs an inconsistent economic populism with an authoritarian commitment to crushing liberals in the culture war. Vance has cited Curtis Yarvin, a Silicon Valley monarchist blogger, as the source of his ideas about firing bureaucrats and defying the Supreme Court. His Senate campaign was funded by Vance’s former employer, Peter Thiel, a billionaire who once wrote that “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.” He’s a big fan of Patrick Deneen, a Notre Dame professor who recently wrote a book calling for “regime change” in America. Vance spoke at an event for Deneen’s book in Washington, describing himself as a member of the “postliberal right” who sees his job in Congress as taking an “explicitly anti-regime” stance.
Vance is also an open admirer of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a right-wing politician who has systematically torn his country’s democracy apart. Vance praised Orbán’s approach to higher education in particular, saying he “made some smart decisions there that we could learn from in the United States.” The policies in question involve using national dollars to impose state controls over universities, turning them into vehicles for disseminating the government line.
Donald Trump's pick of J.D. Vance to be his ticketmate is about doubling down on MAGA authoritarianism and the "postliberal" worldview.

Lazare Carnot and the Colonial Question?
I just came across a document on JSTOR (my computer is in a good mood today, so I managed to read 10 pages)
I was reading the article Éthique et rhétorique de la Révolution chez Gracchus Babeuf et Toussaint Louverture.
The author discusses the date on which Gracchus was executed, May 27, 1797, and how shortly before, he had written an open letter criticizing the policies of the Directory. The author draws a parallel with Toussaint Louverture.
“Two days later, on Prairial 10, Year V, the pro-royalist colonist Vienot-Vaublanc, a prominent member of the Council of Five Hundred, delivered an ‘impolitic and incendiary’ speech about the general situation on the island of Saint-Domingue, which prompted a lengthy Réfutation of Certain Assertions in a Speech Delivered at the Legislative Body, written by Toussaint Louverture. Then, on Brumaire 15, Year VI, Toussaint Louverture sent a similar letter to the Directory, openly criticizing the colonial party in France as ‘enemies of the current system.’”
So far, I understand the parallel between Toussaint Louverture and Gracchus Babeuf.
But here’s where I get lost:
“It is easy to note, following a simple chronology of events, the almost perfect intertwining of the respective fates of Babeuf and Louverture under the Directory, then the Consulate. Scarcely had Babeuf’s body been beheaded, and the ‘Babouviste’ question ‘resolved’ by Carnot, when (...), under pressure from the colonists, set about tackling the colonial situation again, reactivating the colonial question that had remained unresolved, provoking what Jaurès would rightly call a ‘wounding of the revolutionary conscience.’”
End of the text excerpt. The source on Carnot in this article is listed as Marcel Dorigny and Bernard Gainot, La Révolution et la "question coloniale."
The problem is that, from my previous readings, I had always thought, according to historian Frédéric Régent (if I’m not mistaken—I'll need to find the reference) that at least two-thirds of enslaved people had been emancipated. Victor Hugues was criticized for his ambiguous stance, whereas Sonthonax was much more committed to the abolition of slavery, although it's more complicated than that. Eventually, Victor Hugues would become a supporter of re-establishing slavery under Bonaparte in Guadeloupe, while his revolutionary colleague Alexandre Kirwan would side with Delgrès and Ignace against slavery and ultimately lose his life.
I also previously explained in another post that Bonaparte’s reinstatement of slavery was illegal. As for 1797, we are in a period where there is the abolition of slavery , as far as I know, and therefore the Directory did not violate the law on slavery . So, this is where I’m a bit confused: I know there were influential figures within the Directory who favored reinstating slavery, but it hadn’t actually been reinstated. Perhaps the author of the article is referring to the seizure of lands that were then redistributed to colonists. I couldn’t delve into the entire article, having accessed only the first 10 pages.
This article is making me rethink what I thought I knew, especially since it’s well-sourced. (But then again, we’re all here to learn in one way or another. 🧐)
You get it—this is a call for more information. So, if anyone has answers, please let me know.
Here the link of the article:

I decided on doing monthly updates for BA, so I'll be doing a brief overview of November's progress! I'll also add an 'around the blog' section because some notable things happened/were posted! I doubt this part will be monthly, but if I have a busy month here, I'll add it since I know it's easy to miss some things!
Progress Report:
Updated the demo back in the start of November with general fixes.
Finished the (very rough) first draft of Chapter 1! Current word count is just over 23k, but I'm going back to edit and add scenes/flavor text.
Added scenes/notes to the general outline.
Finished Chapter 2's detailed outline.
Decided to officially add in the poly routes! (remind me to update the main post with them at some point lmfaO). These routes include: Beck/Rook for Dawn and Day paths, Rook/??? for Night path, and Rhea and Zoe for Dawn and Dusk paths! Beck/Rook and Rook/??? are triads ie all 3 of you have romantic feelings for each other. Rhea and Zoe is a V ie they both have romantic feelings for you but not each other (although they'll have a close friendship).
Around the blog:
Painted and posted all the RO portraits!
1k follower bonus stories: Rook's and ???'s
Favorite ask/answer: Some facts about MC's family and Orpheus/Eurydice
General:
With all that out of the way, progress may slow a bit and I might be a little more scarce because I finally got a job! I can't say when Chapter 1 is going to be out, but it should be no later then January (I also made a chaotic decision to do two game jams in December because why not?). This is mostly because I want to finish setting up all the stat pages and have them ready for the next update as well! I'm guessing after edits Chapter 1 will total anywhere between 25k to 30k words. With all that being said, have a very wip preview of chapter 1:

[Text version]
'...You...are..."
You grimace, eyes blinking once. Then twice. You've never slept walked before in your life, but now you find yourself with one hand bracing against the sink counter in the bathroom. Your other hand hovers, palm out, gaze latched onto it by an unknown force.
"What…?" You stumble back, eyebrows furrowing as you take a look around you. Something is wrong. Something is wrong.

Chapter 4: ^soFtWArE inStABiLity^
Fandom: Detroit become human
Ships: Honnor, Hankvin, Convin, eventual Hank/Connor/Gavin, Connor/V (android OC)
Rating: Explicit (Kamski dubcon consent warning from this point forward)
Tags: Prostitution AU, Post Revolution-Hostile Public Opinion, Undercover Androids, Connor's first night, Gavin/Hank backstory, plot consistent angst but the gayer universe, mutual pining, light BDSM, angst with a happy ending
Summary:
It's after 9 and the club is starting to fill. Connor finds his room and collects himself before lowering the frost modification on the glass.
The newly renovated rooms themselves were a luxury combination of the tubes and a private room. In abstract, it actually reminded Connor more of a human zoo. ¾ of his space resembled the private bedrooms from before but with a huge wall of glass that separated him from the club floor.
Connor was of course welcome to walk around the club at any time or work the floor, but he actually appreciated the distance between himself and the clientele. At least at first. After that last interaction with Kamski, he felt like he needed a bath. His synthetic skin was still crawling.
The first few rentals were nothing to write home about. They were all human males in their late 50s who didn't even want Connor to talk or look at them. Rented him for the bare minimum time, finished in a fraction of that, and then left without so much as a goodbye. It gave him the impression they actually would have preferred if he was a nameless, faceless, sexbot. It was uncomfortable, impersonal, and 4 different levels of gross. He understood more of Emily's anger and frustrations at some of the clientele prior to the revolution. Not that much has changed evidently.
Connor took a little time between clients after that. There weren't that many people here right now, and there were plenty of other dancers working. One woman had caught his eye upon arriving, but she had made herself scarce since.
1 SMS Message
You're working fucking nights? 9:43:55 PM
The text message and underlying hostility from Hank caught him off guard. He blinked twice before sending his reply.
Yes. I asked my boss to align my schedule close to yours so we could have the most amount of time off together. 9:44:13 PM
Another dirty rotten lie. He can feel his Software Instability meter screaming in the background. He didn't even know that protocol ran anymore. He hadn't seen it since his deviation, but it probably wasn’t a good thing it had pinged 5 times in the last 24 hours right?
Hank’s next text comes in four minutes later.
Won’t it be lonely though? I mean is anyone even at the office with you? 9:48:56 PM

um this is super random but like i was watching this coming out video by this person i follow and like they’ve been out online and irl for a bit, but they explained how they came out and all in more detail and like they talked about how one of their parents was sort of not okay with it, but after a few years they’ve become more accepting. i’m vvv happy for them because you can really see how much that means to them and that’s just a v!!!! ideal and great outcome
but like it made me think about my situation and? as sad as it sounds.... i don’t think i’ll ever be able to have that? with my mom, she’s neutral i guess?? about it? but my dad is like........ suuuuuuuuuuuper incredibly homophobic, like..... i still remember a moment from a few years ago p clearly. we were leaving target and we passed by this gay couple who looked like they were about to kiss and as we got far away enough, my dad was talking about how he really disliked that and he just sounded so disgusted, even going as far as to like fake vomit??? which is like uh...... sir
and there was another time (also...... at target gjkfdghf ???) where i vaguely remember that we were talking about something and then i guess it was relevant to the convo, but he was p much like ‘you and your brother better not turn out to be gay or else i’ll disown you’ and i was like hhhh intense ???? like uh....... like he’s just..... made v bad comments about lgbt things and like..... his dislike for it isn’t Light, like whenever he expresses his disdain for it, he usually sounds p mad or disgusted and it. sucks
the thing is like?? like it doesn’t really hurt me that much whenever he says those things?? like i do get bothered but i’m not personally hurt?? and i think it’s because even though my dad is nice to me and cares about me and all, i don’t.... think we have a strong emotional bond?? like i appreciate him as a person and father and i like spending time with him, but even still, i don’t feel too much of a connection or strong love for him?? which i really, really hate to say, like i wish it wasn’t that way but it is unfortunately ://
but yeah like i don’t know...... i don’t think i could ever come out to my dad and ..... that does but also doesn’t hurt me too much (probably bc of what i said) ?? though it does hurt to think about how he’d probably disown me?? oh fuck that’s so weird to think about.... it’s really weird to think about because i see him quite often and consistently and he does express that he cares about me.... and for him to suddenly like... turn on that.... would be so weird ?? and saddening ??
i don’t think about it too often but i can’t really.... imagine what his reaction would be.... i feel like he’d be really angry and oh my god he’s so scary when he’s angry 0: i feel like he’d be in total disbelief and like he’d probably yell at me tbh kdsghlk god this is so weird to think about ...... if he really would disown me like he said, i can’t like.... i can’t fathom him actually saying something that would p much mean ‘never contact me again, i never want to see you’ like that’s just SO weird since he’s been apart of my life for the past 20 years, even if i don’t always see him...... like i want to think that even if he told me that he’d disown us if we were gay, i want to think that like, he’d make an exception? or he’d realize it’s not bad bc like. whenever he’d think of lgbt, he’d only think of strangers ? not people he knows, i think ? hh ? and like actually his gf’s kids and nephews are all gay but he doesn’t treat them harshly so maybe....
hhh i don’t know this got way longer than it was supposed to be and is just me p much processing all these thoughts for the first time in a while.... i just don’t know how to feel about this and god i just hope i never have to come out to him.... and like i don’t know if i’m going to end up with a gf or bf but if i end up having a gf i don’t know what i’m going to do.... i guess i’m fine with not telling him about being in a relationship but something that Does scare me is like what if my gf and i express pda in public and he........ by some chance happens to see like.... that is one of the scariest things that could happen how does someone explain That

Welcome to the 39th installment of 15 Weeks of Phantom, where I post all 68 sections of Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, as they were first printed in Le Gaulois newspaper 113 yeas ago.
In today’s installment, we have Part VII of Chapter 14, “La Lyre d’Apollon” (“Apollo’s Lyre”), and Part I of Chapter 15, "Un Coup de maître de l’amateur de trappes" ("A Masterstroke of the Trapdoor Lover").
This section was first printed on Tuesday, 23 November, 1909.
For anyone following along in David Coward’s translation (the link is to the Kindle edition on Amazon US), the text starts in Chapter 13 with, “'Christine,' said Raoul as he got to his feet, 'you say you love me but it was only a matter of hours after you were free again that you went back to him,” and goes to Chapter 14, “Then she rushed out in a state of near-panic, still pulling and smoothing her fingers as if she thought the ring would somehow mysteriously reappear of its own accord.”
There are some differences between the standard 1st Edition text and the Gaulois text. In this section, these include (highlighted in red above):
1) Chapter XV was printed as Chapter XVI. This numbering error was made in Chapter VII, and was not corrected, so it was propagated throughout the Gaulois publication.
2) Chapter 15 in the Gaulois text is Chapter 14 in the 1st Edition, etc.
3) Compare the Gaulois text:
... vous dites que vous m'aimez et quelques heures à peine s'étaient écoulées depuis que vous aviez recouvé votre liberté, que déjà vous retourniez auprès d'Erik !...
("... you say that you love me and yet scarcely a few hours after you had regained your liberty, you had already returned to Erik!...")
To the 1st Edition:
... vous dites que vous m'aimez, mais quelques heures à peine s'étaient écoulées depuis que vous aviez recouvé votre liberté...
("... you say that you love me, but scarcely a few hours after you had regained your liberty, you had already returned to Erik!...")
4) This passage was added to the 1st Edition, and sadly does not appear in the Gaulois:
Translation:
Suddenly, a strange silhouette loomed before the two youths, blocking their path:
"No! Not this way!"
And the silhouette pointed to another corridor by which they must reach the wings.
Raoul wanted to stop, to ask for an explanation.
"Go! Go quickly!..." ordered this shadowy figure, enshrouded in a sort of greatcoat and capped with a pointed hat.
Christine was already dragging Raoul away, forcing him to run again:
"But who is that? Who is that man?" asked the young man.
And Christine replied:
"That is The Persian!..."
"What is he doing here?..."
"No one knows anything!... He is always at the Opera!"
5) Compare the Gaulois text:
C'était Erik. Il avait les yeux de braise dont vous m'avez parlé. J'aurais dû le clouer sur la lyre d'Apollon...
("That was Erik. He had eyes like embers, which you have spoken of. I should have nailed him to Apollo's Lyre...")
To the 1st Edition:
Si vraiment nous avons aperçu Erik j'aurais dû le clouer sur la lyre d'Apollon...
("If that truly was Erik that we saw, I should have nailed him to Apollo's Lyre...")
6) Compare the Gaulois text (this was likely an error on Leroux's part, since earlier, Raoul agreed to be in Christine's dressing room at midnight sharp):
... à minuit et demi ! fit le jeune homme ...
("... at half past midnight!" said the young man ...)
To the 1st Edition:
... à minuit je serai dans votre loge, fit le jeune homme ...
("... at midnight I shall be in your dressing room," said the young man)
7) Compare the Gaulois text:
Jamais ! répondit-elle avec énergie. Je la renverrai à Erik en la déposant dans la loge du fantôme. Il faut qu'Erik puisse rentrer tranquillement chez lui le soir...
("Never!" she replied forcefully. "I shall return it [the key] to Erik by leaving it in the Phantom's box. Erik must be able to return calmly to his house in the evening...")
To the 1st Edition:
Jamais ! répondit-elle avec énergie. Ce serait une trahison !
("Never!" she replied forcefully. "That would be a betrayal!")
8) Minor differences in punctuation.

In the book, when was Dragonstone officially in Rhaenyra? When did she start taking care of it? And when did she take up residence there? And when did Viserys decree that Rhaenyra should settle for Dragonstone and stay exactly there? (I think it was after the kids fight?)
Oh anon, I think you caught my mistake from another post.
In the book, she's 16 (age of majority) when she inherits Dragonstone in 113 A.C. But she doesn't begin to actively rule or live in it until she has Lucerys in 115 A.C. and leaves the court at King’s Landing when things get even worse between her and Alicent.
"Do keep trying,” Queen Alicent told Ser Laenor, according to Mushroom, “soon or late, you may get one who looks like you.” And the rivalry between the greens and blacks grew deeper, finally reaching the point where the queen and the princess could scarce suffer each other’s presence. Thereafter Queen Alicent kept to the Red Keep, whilst the princess spent her days on Dragonstone, attended by her ladies, Mushroom, and her champion, Ser Harwin Strong. Her husband, Ser Laenor, was said to visit “frequently.”
(Fire and Blood; A Question of Succession)
There was no decree that she would settle there from Viserys until after Aemond claims Vhagar and fights with the V boys in 120 A.C., when she is 20:
To prevent further conflict, and put an end to these “vile rumors and base calumnies,” King Viserys further decreed that Queen Alicent and her sons would return with him to court, whilst Princess Rhaenyra confined herself to Dragonstone with her sons. Henceforth Ser Erryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard would serve as her sworn shield, whilst Breakbones returned to Harrenhal.
(Fire and Blood; A Question of Succession)
Now maybe it’s my literature brain talking here, but when the text uses Rhaenyra as the active subject and says “herself” instead of “Viserys__her”, I get the impression that Viserys never actually decreed she would stay at Dragonstone in exile or as punishment. Rather he says Alicent and his kids with her will go back to the Keep. Did Viserys seek to punish Alicent, both women, or did he just want a separation and decreed no punishment at all and Rhaenyra secluded herself at Dragonstone?
*EDIT* (9/22/23) I do not think the below anymore.
But yeah, Rhaenyra has been living full-time at Dragonstone since before the fight. Whether she’s decreed to stay there...?
Why I think she would “confine” herself in Dragonstone:
her son almost got his eye taken out after Aemond accused her of treason
she and Alicent already grew beef so hot they couldn’t stand the sight of each other 5 years ago (probably so bad that they would have fights in front of the courtiers? That can't continue)
she truly had to grow some experience actively ruling with no interruptions or intercessions from enemies and her authority would remain uncontested, so staying at Dragonstone seems a fair move to me

Tyrion and Tysha murder mystery hints - first mention in the text
This thing just keeps tugging at me, and this recent thread made me ambitious to examine it in more detail. So I’ll look at hints for an even darker edge to the story of Tyrion and Tysha in the parts of the text that actually mention her.
Since I have limited time, I’ll do several posts. This one is about how we learn about Tysha in A Game of Thrones.
We head into AGOT, Tyrion VI via a chapter transition from AGOT, Jon V, where Jon talks Maester Aemon into choosing Samwell as his assistant. In the presence of his current assistant Chett, who - it is revealed later in the ASOS Prologue - murdered a girl he liked for rejecting him.
Chett gave a nasty laugh. “I’ve seen what happens to soft lordlings when they’re put to work. Set them to churning butter and their hands blister and bleed. Give them an axe to split logs, and they cut off their own foot.”
“I know one thing Sam could do better than anyone.”
“Yes?” Maester Aemon prompted.
Jon glanced warily at Chett, standing beside the door, his boils red and angry. “He could help you,” he said quickly. “He can do sums, and he knows how to read and write. I know Chett can’t read, and Clydas has weak eyes. Sam read every book in his father’s library. He’d be good with the ravens too. Animals seem to like him. Ghost took to him straight off. There’s a lot he could do, besides fighting. The Night’s Watch needs every man. Why kill one, to no end? Make use of him instead.”
Maester Aemon closed his eyes, and for a brief moment Jon was afraid that he had gone to sleep. Finally he said, “Maester Luwin taught you well, Jon Snow. Your mind is as deft as your blade, it would seem.”
“Does that mean …?”
“It means I shall think on what you have said,” the maester told him firmly. “And now, I believe I am ready to sleep. Chett, show our young brother to the door.”
(AGOT, Jon V)
The chapter is followed by AGOT, Tyrion VI, where Tyrion and Bronn rest on the high road after being kicked out of the Gates of the Moon, after he won his trial by combat:
They had taken shelter beneath a copse of aspens just off the high road. Tyrion was gathering dead-wood while their horses took water from a mountain stream. He stooped to pick up a splintered branch and examined it critically. “Will this do? I am not practiced at starting fires. Morrec did that for me.”
The entire conversation between Jon, Aemon and Chett sets up Tyrion. A lordling, bad with manual labor, but smart and a reader. Yet we know he is no Samwell Tarly in his sensibilities, and the last sentence is dedicated to Chett.
Chett...
The only women Chett had ever known were the whores he’d bought in Mole’s Town. When he’d been younger, the village girls took one look at his face, with its boils and its wen, and turned away sickened. The worst was that slattern Bessa. She’d spread her legs for every boy in Hag’s Mire so he’d figured why not him too? He even spent a morning picking wildflowers when he heard she liked them, but she’d just laughed in his face and told him she’d crawl in a bed with his father’s leeches before she’d crawl in one with him. She stopped laughing when he put his knife in her. That was sweet, the look on her face, so he pulled the knife out and put it in her again. When they caught him down near Sevenstreams, old Lord Walder Frey hadn’t even bothered to come himself to do the judging. He’d sent one of his bastards, that Walder Rivers, and the next thing Chett had known he was walking to the Wall with that foul-smelling black devil Yoren. To pay for his one sweet moment, they took his whole life.
But now he meant to take it back, and Craster’s women too. That twisted old wildling has the right of it. If you want a woman to wife you take her, and none of this giving her flowers so that maybe she don’t notice your bloody boils. Chett didn’t mean to make that mistake again.
Like Tyrion, Chett is rejected by others for his appearance, has a violent father and a lot of resentment that comes out in the shape of murdering “slatterns”. He also mixes it up with the idea of marriage. Like Tyrion, the cold night reminds Chett of the girl in his past.
He could see Bessa’s face floating before him. It wasn’t the knife I wanted to put in you, he wanted to tell her. I picked you flowers, wild roses and tansy and goldencups, it took me all morning. His heart was thumping like a drum, so loud he feared it might wake the camp. Ice caked his beard all around his mouth. Where did that come from, with Bessa? Whenever he’d thought of her before, it had only been to remember the way she’d looked, dying. What was wrong with him?
Chett killed her in a rage, but the truth is layered and haunts him.
But back to Tyrion.
Tyrion VI emphasizes Tyrion’s cleverness as he converses with Bronn, explaining his strategy in the Vale for how to steal Bronn from Cat’s service and make use of his practical talents, and his strategy for their travels in the Mountains of the Moon. Tyrion talks, Bronn listens and agrees to serve him.
The point is, Tyrion is very observant and smart. Reader, trust Tyrion’s judgent and words, is the message. Then we get more personal.
As they light a fire and eat a goat, Tyrion remembers his goaler Mord who treated him cruelly in the sky cells.
(Mord, btw, translates to murder in many a germanic/Scandinvian language.)
“And yet you gave the turnkey a purse of gold,” Bronn said.
“A Lannister always pays his debts.”
Even Mord had scarcely believed it when Tyrion tossed him the leather purse. The gaoler’s eyes had gone big as boiled eggs as he yanked open the drawstring and beheld the glint of gold. “I kept the silver,” Tyrion had told him with a crooked smile, “but you were promised the gold, and there it is.” It was more than a man like Mord could hope to earn in a lifetime of abusing prisoners. “And remember what I said, this is only a taste. If you ever grow tired of Lady Arryn’s service, present yourself at Casterly Rock, and I’ll pay you the rest of what I owe you.” With golden dragons spilling out of both hands, Mord had fallen to his knees and promised that he would do just that.
The image of coins spilling from hands is picked up later.
Tyrion was hoping to lure in the mountain clans, but they take their time showing up, so he tries to be even more conspicuous.
Tyrion chuckled. “Then we ought to sing and send them fleeing in terror.” He began to whistle a tune.
He chooses the “terrible” tune himself. It leads straight to his memory:
“Myrish. ‘The Seasons of My Love.’ Sweet and sad, if you understand the words. The first girl I ever bedded used to sing it, and I’ve never been able to put it out of my head.” Tyrion gazed up at the sky. It was a clear cold night and the stars shone down upon the mountains as bright and merciless as truth. “I met her on a night like this,” he heard himself saying. “Jaime and I were riding back from Lannisport when we heard a scream, and she came running out into the road with two men dogging her heels, shouting threats.
Myrish, as in the Myrish lens. The object Lysa sends Catelyn, which has a false bottom hiding the real message in a secret language, a message of murder and conspiracy. A secret language, a foreign language, like Mord.
"A lens is an instrument to help us see."     (AGOT, Catelyn II)
Bright and merciless as truth.
My brother unsheathed his sword and went after them, while I dismounted to protect the girl. She was scarcely a year older than I was, dark-haired, slender, with a face that would break your heart. It certainly broke mine. Lowborn, half-starved, unwashed … yet lovely. They’d torn the rags she was wearing half off her back, so I wrapped her in my cloak while Jaime chased the men into the woods. By the time he came trotting back, I’d gotten a name out of her, and a story. She was a crofter’s child, orphaned when her father died of fever, on her way to … well, nowhere, really.
Where Tysha went will become a theme. @une-nuit-pour-se-souvenir examines that beautifully here.
But even right here, the tone is ominous, and GRRM goes out of his way to emphasize it with the ellipses.
We get the story of Jaime chasing after the outlaws and Tyrion and Tysha falling into bed at an inn after drinking, eating and talking, and the story of their marriage, and its end.
Tyrion was surprised at how desolate it made him feel to say it, even after all these years. Perhaps he was just tired. “That was the end of my marriage.” He sat up and stared at the dying fire, blinking at the light.
“He sent the girl away?”
“He did better than that,” Tyrion said. “First he made my brother tell me the truth. The girl was a whore, you see. Jaime arranged the whole affair, the road, the outlaws, all of it. He thought it was time I had a woman. He paid double for a maiden, knowing it would be my first time.
NOTHING about this makes sense, which is ridiculous when you consider we were just hammered over the head with how smart Tyrion is supposed to be.
Since when is Jaime prone to setting up complex schemes? Why would feel the need to push Tyrion to have sex at thirteen, and why would be ever do it this way? Why would be hire him a virgin for his first time? We don’t question it because GRRM has told us not to question the smartiepants. But as we later learn, that was all. not. true. So maybe other things aren’t true, either.
“After Jaime had made his confession, to drive home the lesson, Lord Tywin brought my wife in and gave her to his guards. They paid her fair enough. A silver for each man, how many whores command that high a price? He sat me down in the corner of the barracks and bade me watch, and at the end she had so many silvers the coins were slipping through her fingers and rolling on the floor, she …” The smoke was stinging his eyes. Tyrion cleared his throat and turned away from the fire, to gaze out into darkness. “Lord Tywin had me go last,” he said in a quiet voice. “And he gave me a gold coin to pay her, because I was a Lannister, and worth more.”
The parallels to his memory of Mord are striking. Silver and gold, coins spilling from hands, a “price” beyond expectation... and a promise of something very sinister at the next meeting.
After a time he heard the noise again, the rasp of steel on stone as Bronn sharpened his sword. “Thirteen or thirty or three, I would have killed the man who did that to me.”
1) Nice how Bronn makes it about Tyrion’s pain. Tysha’s pain does not exist to them. And so the reader is also drawn away from it. Poor Tyrion.
2) Another reference to killing. It foreshadows Tyrion’s murder of Tywin over this very matter, of course, but at the same time...
Tyrion gestured impatiently with the bow. “Tysha. What did you do with her, after my little lesson?”
“I don’t recall.”
“Try harder. Did you have her killed?”
His father pursed his lips. “There was no reason for that, she’d learned her place … and had been well paid for her day’s work, I seem to recall. I suppose the steward sent her on her way. I never thought to inquire.”
“On her way where?”
“Wherever whores go.”
Tyrion’s finger clenched.  (ASOS, Tyrion XI)
I don’t think it can be emphasized enough that this happens right after he murders Shae. Shae the whore.
“Did you ever like it?” He cupped her cheek, remembering all the times he had done this before. All the times he’d slid his hands around her waist, squeezed her small firm breasts, stroked her short dark hair, touched her lips, her cheeks, her ears. All the times he had opened her with a finger to probe her secret sweetness and make her moan. “Did you ever like my touch?”
“More than anything,” she said, “my giant of Lannister.”
That was the worst thing you could have said, sweetling.
Tyrion slid a hand under his father’s chain, and twisted. The links tightened, digging into her neck. “For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman’s hands are warm,” he said. He gave cold hands another twist as the warm ones beat away his tears.
And just before he asks him about Tysha, Tywin assures him he was meant to be sent to the Wall. Whether or not that’s a lie, we’re looking at another Chett parallel. Murdering a “slattern”, facing life at the Wall.
We close Tyrion’s memory of Tysha:
Tyrion swung around to face him. “You may get that chance one day.  Remember what I told you. A Lannister always pays his debts.” He yawned. “I think I will try and sleep. Wake me if we’re about to die.”
He rolled himself up in the shadowskin and shut his eyes. The ground was stony and cold, but after a time Tyrion Lannister did sleep. He dreamt of the sky cell. This time he was the gaoler, not the prisoner, big, with a strap in his hand, and he was hitting his father, driving him back, toward the abyss …
Like Chett, his thoughts return to the girl. He turns into the goaler, Mord, his rage comes through, his capability of great violence. In ASOS, his lashing out at Tywin is preceeded by directing his violence toward the “whore” who allegedly betrayed him. Which is preceeded by a truth about Tysha.
“Thank you?” Tyrion’s voice was choked. “He gave her to his guards. A barracks full of guards. He made me … watch.” Aye, and more than watch. I took her too … my wife …
“I never knew he would do that. You must believe me.”
“Oh, must I?” Tyrion snarled. “Why should I believe you about anything, ever? She was my wife!”
“Tyrion—”
He hit him. It was a slap, backhanded, but he put all his strength into it, all his fear, all his rage, all his pain. Jaime was squatting, unbalanced. The blow sent him tumbling backward to the floor. “I … I suppose I earned that.”
“Oh, you’ve earned more than that, Jaime. You and my sweet sister and our loving father, yes, I can’t begin to tell you what you’ve earned. But you’ll have it, that I swear to you. A Lannister always pays his debts.” Tyrion waddled away, almost stumbling over the turnkey again in his haste. Before he had gone a dozen yards, he bumped up against an iron gate that closed the passage. Oh, gods. It was all he could do not to scream.
(ASOS, Tyrion XI)
The turnkey here is interesting. Once again, Tysha’s memory is associated with a cell and the presence of a turnkey. In his anguished memory, Tyrion almost stumbles over him. The last turnkey was Mord.
So, just looking at Tysha’s first mention, there are so many ominous connections. Murder murder murder.
The chapter ends with Tyrion meeting and “hiring” the mountain clans. How? To avenge himself on Lysa Arryn, he promises them the entire Vale. Really driving home that “a Lannister pays his debts is all about disproportionate retribution.
A few chapter later, to create some distance to this dark tale, Tyrion meets Shae and sets up to re-create his entire Tysha trauma. The two are intertwined, so why should their ends not be?
That’s fodder for a different post, though.

[ARTICLE] GOLD STAR MEDIA TO HOST HALLOWEEN PARTY FOR SECOND TIME
Following the media success of Gold Star Media’s Halloween party in 2018, fans and press alike waited for news of a followup in 2019, only for Gold Star to pass up hosting the event for a second year in a row.
Gold Star Media has now announced they will once again be hosting a Halloween party this year with attendees from their own company as well as BC Entertainment and Dimensions Entertainment and several other hot figures in the entertainment industry. According to industry insiders, an invite to the party was a hot ticket after Gold Star’s inaugural event saw such praise for attendees’ exciting Halloween looks.
This year, Gold Star has announced the party will have a theme beyond Halloween; it will be a masquerade ball with a “Modern Fairy Tale” theme. Media insiders suggest an even larger amount of attention will be showered on the event’s red carpet by media and fans this year.
The party will happen on Halloween night at an undisclosed venue.
ADMIN NOTES:
It’s time for a Halloween event! Gold Star Media has decided to follow up their successful 2018 Halloween party with another one two years later, this time themed as a masquerade ball. In addition to being a masquerade ball, the event is “Modern Fairy Tale” themed. All idols are expected to attend unless there are major extenuating circumstances such as illness or injury (which should be cleared with the admin, please!).
All attendees to the party are expected to adhere to a roughly creative black tie dress code and are required to bring a masquerade-style mask to accompany their outfit. They are also asked to keep in mind the fairy tale theme of the event, though they may interpret this as they wish; they may choose to dress up in a way that recalls a familiar fairy tale character or simply embody an elegant fairy tale-esque look, and they may choose to modernize it as little or as much as they want. A regular Halloween costume look isn’t expected or likely possible due to the dress code.
Idols will work with company stylists to choose their outfit. They’ll have more say in their look and more freedom than they normally do, but their outfit must still remain public-friendly and appropriate to their group or canon soloist image, i.e. a WISH or Lucid member won’t show up in a daring V-neck cutout dress.
Idol attendees will not be permitted a plus one and couple outfits must be avoided. Idols who serve as ambassadors of brands lending themselves to black tie attire at the time of the event may be encouraged or required within their deal to wear that brand in some way.
There will be a red carpet before entering the event for pictures that will be released as publicity. Group members will arrive at the event with their managers in vans and the rest of their group and photos on the red carpet will be taken in groups and then individually. Appointments at their regular salon will be made available for idols to schedule in advance if necessary. The red carpet will begin at 6pm, while the main event inside the venue will begin at 7pm.
The party will take place at a large modern ballroom-style event venue outside of Seoul proper, which will be decorated with modern, elegant decorations matching a typical modern masquerade ball look with a gold, white, and black color scheme.
Managers and other company employees, including CEO Bang Sunyoung herself for a period of time, will be present at this party, though press will not be allowed inside the venue beyond the red carpet.
Having a masquerade mask will be mandatory, and wearing it inside the venue is encouraged in the spirit of the event.
Activities & Locations Overview:
The entrance lobby is where all attendees will congregate after exiting the red carpet to have their invitations and identities checked before being allowed into the event.
The main room of the event is a large ballroom set up with elegant decor in shades of gold, white, and black (decor examples: 1, 2, 3). Attendees are free to seat themselves as they wish at the tables places along the exterior of the ballroom, though they are reminded that staff is in attendance at the event and they must be on good behavior. Waiters and waitresses will still be present with trays of hors d'oeuvres such a gourmet cheeses, caviar, spiced walnuts, and crab and avocado toast and flutes of champagne, as well as sparkling mineral water for those who do not drink. A live string quartet has been hired for the evening and they will play a mix of classical favorites, songs from fairy tale media, and spooky classics such as horror movie themes. From 9pm onward, the string quartet will leave and be replaced by a DJ to end the night on a more high-energy note. At this point, the central dance floor of the ballroom is expected to become a central part of the event.
Escape room, a section of rooms of the venue have been set aside and taken over by a top escape room company, who has set up a personalized escape room situation within the venue created just for the event. They’ll allow in groups of six to eight people in at a time to solve the fairy tale-themed escape room. The escape room has a time limit of forty minutes with a predicted 60% success rate.
A lawn outside the back of the ballroom. At 10:30PM, there will be a viewing on the lawn of a scary movie on a large screen. Blankets will be laid out on the ground to keep attendees’ expensive outfits from getting dirtied and a smaller selection of small tables around the outskirts of the lawn will also be available.
A garden also outside the back of the ballroom. This features a walking path through a professionally-designed flower garden. Past the flower garden is a small hedge maze lit by lanterns to keep in the spirit of the event.
Photo booths are set up throughout the venue which are free to use. The photo booths include a variety of Halloween- and fairy tale-themed props and offer the option to have the photos sent to your phone or printed off in a traditional photo booth manner.
A scavenger hunt will take place during the full duration of the event. A sign in the entrance lobby before entering the ballroom informs guests that there are six small white jack-o-lanterns hidden throughout the venue with numbers attached and guests that find all six numbers for a special code will win be entered into a lottery to win prizes such as tickets to Everland, a free stay at a resort on Jeju Island, etc. (The jack-o-lanterns can be found as follows: one in the ballroom on a table, one in the ballroom next to the stage with the string quartet, one in the entrance lobby on a white chair, one in the garden against the edge of a flower bed, one down an incorrect path in the maze, and one in a photo booth.) Winners of the lottery will be announced at the end of the event.

nolan lovell is the son of big time actor: scotty lovell who has been in movies like charlie & the chocolate factory, pirates of the caribbean, & sweeney todd & whatnot
his father’s actor claim is johnny depp <3
nolan’s mother, beverly, was not a celebrity but work at disneyland as princess aurora !
so both his parents were actors in a way
at the same time nolan & his brother went to disneyland wayyy too much tbh
with such a popular actor has his father, expectations were held for both him & his brother growing up
unfortunately for the lovell family, nolan’s older brother, hilton, did not do well in the acting department; he was sluggish, he was obnoxious, & he just didn’t want to do it
that being said, nolan was more or less shoved into the acting career from a young age
he went to an acting school, appeared in films as a young child, & his parents managed him for a long while
his acting claim is tom holland for rn, i might add another person eventually
nolan started out hating acting ? he thought it was a waste of time & it was really frustrating to be put through it
but as he got older he wanted to stay in it so that his parents had someone to pass their legacy onto ?
so he stuck with the acting school & the random handful of classes that they signed him up for.
the only time he saw his dad ? was when he was starring in a play or at a first showing of his movie/show
so nolan started appearing in more & more things ? so that he could see his dad more & more ?
he’s lived under his parent’s control for the mass majority of his life & he still does to this day tbh
at the end of 2019, he said that he wanted to leave the acting scene to focus on his youtube channel & his family basically exploded & said it was just a joke
his youtube channel rn is something he posts to scarcely bc of all the time he spends on sets
but it’s full of culinary videos !! he’s a huge nerd when it comes to cooking & wants to do youtube videos more often about it
eventually he would like to expand on his channel & do vlogs & other things but he doesn’t want to do that until he’s out of the acting scene
he’s currently not talking to his parents - or rather they aren’t talking to him bc wowow, they built him & they dont want him to throw it all away so young

WOOO PROMPT MEMES!! theyre just fun yknow… i did 26 earlier yesterday so i think i’ll do the 12 and 1…ripe for melodrama….
1. Rain and 12. Panicked/Accidental Confession
from spring fic prompts meme here
Hermann’s aware he must be a sight as he tears out onto the loading dock, parka unzipped, shirt untucked, one Oxford unlaced, and he’s aware he’s forgotten his umbrella and becoming more drenched by the second, and he’s aware, most of all, of the bewildered and frankly concerned looks being cast in his direction, but he’s in a bit of a hurry and can’t find it within himself to care in the slightest. Ten minutes ago, he was sitting in his bunk, stripped down to his undershirt and idly flipping through some old research, when he received a call that Newton–well–
“The boat,” he half-shouts, scarcely audible over the rain, as he catches a random Shatterdome worker by the shoulder, “the boat that went out this morning, has it returned?”
The man sets down the wooden crate he’d been toting. “One with the team?”
Hermann nods.
The man points further down, at the next dock over. More workers in their dark blue PPDC jumpsuits are hitching a rope from a boat to a post, and more still are beginning to unload more crates from it. “They’re getting in right now.”
Hermann wheezes out his thanks, and, cane slippery in his grasp, hauls himself over as fast as his legs will take him.
“Dr. Geiszler,” he shouts to the crew, squinting into the sheets of rain and trying, desperately, to seek out any even vaguely familiar blur, anyone who will know, “I’m looking for Dr. Geiszler, has anyone–Newton Geiszler, he was meant to–”
“Uh, Hermann,” a familiar voice says.
There, shivering on the edge of the boat under a small awning, soaking wet, reflective blanket around his shoulders, and only just visible, is Newton. “Hi,” he says sheepishly.
Hermann is struck with the overwhelming urge to slap him across the face. He settles, instead, on storming over, reaching out, and smacking his shoulder. “You’re a moron,” he hisses.
The events of the day were this. Hermann awoke to find the lab suspiciously empty. Assuming Newton was taking a sick day, or was hungover, or had just overslept his alarm again, he resumed his work from the previous evening and thought nothing of it. When the lab remained suspiciously empty through lunch without even a text from Newton, Hermann–purely out of worry for their research, which would suffer without Newton there, of course–marched ‘round to his bunk and knocked repeatedly on the door. Newton did not answer. Hermann debated retrieving the spare key Newton gave to him in case of emergencies, but decided, instead, to call it a day as well. If Newton was going to be so blase about work, then so could Hermann, by Jove.
Early evening, once Hermann’d already showered and dressed for bed, he received a message from LOCCENT informing him that Dr. Geiszler had tagged along with a team going out on a boat that morning at five to survey the Breach up close, and had, subsequently, fallen off the boat. Hermann scarcely waited to hear if they’d even managed to fish Newton out or not before he was out the door.
They had, it appeared, managed to fish Newton out.
Newton has the decency to hang his head, at least. “It was an accident,” he says.
Hermann swats at his shoulder again. Newton pouts. “What was? Deliberately not telling me you were going out, and in a storm at that?”
“Falling in,” Newton says, and then, in a rush, “It was windy, and I dropped my glasses on the deck and I was trying to find them, and there was a wave, and I kinda–” The noise Hermann makes–something akin to a small growl–clearly startles Newton, because he speaks even faster. “I was wearing a life vest, okay! I was only in the water for, like, five minutes tops. Tops. And I’m alive! So, no harm done?”
“No harm done,” Hermann echoes sarcastically, though his heart rate has gone down significantly since seeing Newton in one piece. He begins to fuss with Newton’s blanket. “Look at you. Didn’t they give you a towel first?” He presses the back of his hand to Newton’s forehead. “You’re freezing.”
“It’s sixty degrees out, Hermann,” Newton says, though he is shivering and leaning in to each one of Hermann’s touches. The moment the rain lets up a little, Hermann’s going to force him inside the lab at the side of the contraband space heater and wrap him up in three more blankets. Make him some tea. Now, with just the blanket from the emergency medical kit to work from, Hermann shoves Newton’s damp leather jacket off his shoulders and to take stock of the man, purposefully ignoring how see-through his usual white button up has become.
“And your glasses,” Hermann tsks, finally noticing their absence. Newton always seems strangely naked without his glasses. He tsks again. “Newton.”
“I have a spare pair!” Newton says, as if it makes the loss of them, expensive as it is to find anyone who’ll fill their prescriptions in a timely fashion these days, remotely better. Hermann adds that to his mental checklist of things to do: bundle Newton up by the space heater, make him tea, and go off to find the spare pair while Newton warms himself up. Newton fidgets. “Jesus. See, this is why I didn’t tell you I was going in the first place. I knew you’d get all–”
Hermann clenches the fingers of his left hand around one end of the blanket. “All what?”
“All pissy,” Newton says. “Like you are right now.”
“I’m only pissy,” Hermann shouts, and Newton winces, “because I thought you’d gone and gotten yourself drowned, and that I’d never–” He shuts his mouth. His cheeks feel hot. “I was worried about you,” he continues, moderately calmer.
“Oh,” Newton squeaks. “…You were?”
“Of course I was,” Hermann says.
There’s a tense moment of silence. Then Newton reaches out, very carefully, and covers Hermann’s right hand (still clutching the slippery head of his cane) with his left. He’s gazing at Hermann with wide eyes. Hermann swallows. “Newton–”
“Hey,” a crewman says, suddenly appearing over Newton’s shoulder, “you know, you guys aren’t technically supposed to be here–”
Newton drops his hand. “Sorry,” he says. He scrambles off the edge of the boat to the concrete of the base’s dock as Hermann stands, dazed and useless. “Uh, let’s–”
Hermann shakes himself. “Let’s get you inside,” he finishes. His face feels hotter than before.
“Inside,” Newton agrees. “Yeah.”

I may be asking in the wrong spot but i've been on the fence of translating the Rune Factory Official Memoirs Book. However, with very little scanned images on the internet i don't know how much text i'll be looking at, so i figured i'd check here to see if you have an idea at how many pages there are or if they are all available online or not and i've just been looking in the wrong spots.
Well you’re in the right place because I own a copy of the book and have scanned some of the art in it!
The book in total is 128 pages, and a majority of the pages are just artwork with captions and really brief pages to introduce each game. I would say that all of the text that would be worth scanning is in pages 100-127, which includes a large interview and a lot of character profile-esque stuff (based on what I can surmise as a person who can only read “Good Morning” in hiragana).
As far as I know, those pages have not been scanned to the internet at all. When the book initially released, people just read the book and provided short summaries without posting images or proof of the information within the text. I could potentially provide those scans for you, but I’d probably have to scan it in sections because...since it’s a large book, I have to scan it one page at all time ;v;
If you do decide to go that route, feel free to contact me off-anon or yell at me in the RF Discord! Otherwise, I can provide you with some links to where to purchase the book if I can currently find it! Ever since the RF5 announcement, it has been really scarce xD

Jon: King predictions
I: The king laughs and the court laughs with him.
So Jon is laughing, during one of his first real trials as a leader, hedged in language that is applied to three different kings of Westeros. Not only that, the rhythm of the phrase “when the king laughs, the court laughs with him” is echoed almost word for word for Jon specifically.
He [Joffrey] laughed … and when the king laughs, the court laughs with him. Sansa ASOS
He [Jon] laughed, and Pyp and Owen and half a dozen more laughed with him. Jon ASOS
He [Barristan] had spent the best part of his own life obeying the commands of drunkards (King Robert] and madmen [King Aerys]. Barristan ADWD
Jon laughed, laughed like a drunk or a madman, and his men laughed with him. Jon ASOS
II. Bloodraven and “King.”
The raven, which is surely skinchanged by Bloodraven, Bran’s mentor and a man who can see the past/present/future, says king over and over. By Mormont’s actions, GRRM makes a literary connection between the raven’s statement and Jon.
"King," croaked the raven. The bird flapped across the solar to land on Mormont's shoulder. "King," it said again, strutting back and forth.
"He likes that word," Jon said, smiling.
"An easy word to say. An easy word to like."
"King," the bird said again.
"I think he means for you to have a crown, my lord."
"The realm has three kings already, and that's two too many for my liking." Mormont stroked the raven under the beak with a finger, but all the while his eyes never left Jon Snow. Jon AGOT
Jon is LC in the fifth book and the raven meaning Bloodraven is at it again, calling Jon a king. A man who can see the history of Westeros is calling Jon a king again.
He rose and dressed in darkness, as Mormont's raven muttered across the room. "Corn," the bird said, and, "King," and, "Snow, Jon Snow, Jon Snow." That was queer. The bird had never said his full name before, as best Jon could recall. Jon ADWD
III:  Gilly and taking a knee for kings
"They say the king gives justice and protects the weak." She [Gilly] started to climb off the rock, awkwardly, but the ice had made it slippery and her foot went out from under her. Jon caught her before she could fall, and helped her safely down. The woman knelt on the icy ground. "M'lord, I beg you—" Jon ACOK
When Gilly entered, she went at once to her knees. Jon came around the table and drew her to her feet. "You don't need to take a knee for me. That's just for kings." Jon ADWD
IV.“Kill the boy” to Aegon the Unlikely and to Jon Snow
“Kill the boy and let the man be born” was the exact same advice that Maester Aemon gave to another Aegon (Aegon the Unlikely) before he became king.  Aegon the Unlikely was a compromise candidate chosen by a Great Council rather than by succession. Decades later, Jon gets the same advice this future unlikely king got:
"Allow me to give my lord one last piece of counsel," the old man had said, "the same counsel that I once gave my brother when we parted for the last time. He was three-and-thirty when the Great Council chose him to mount the Iron Throne...Egg had an innocence to him, a sweetness we all loved. Kill the boy within you, I told him the day I took ship for the Wall. It takes a man to rule. An Aegon, not an Egg. Kill the boy and let the man be born." The old man felt Jon’s face. "You are half the age that Egg was, and your own burden is a crueler one, I fear. You will have little joy of your command, but I think you have the strength in you to do the things that must be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born. Jon ADWD.
When Sam eulogizes Maester Aemon in AFFC, he states “he counseled kings as well.”
V. King Daerons and Jon Snow.
Jon is connected in text to the nation building and ruling of two King Daeron. As a boy, he admired Daeron the Young Dragon, a conqueror who tried and failed to conquer Dorne. But as LC, Jon’s nation building mirrors Daeron the Good, who integrated Dorne into Westeros by marriage. I made a separate post detailing Jon’s textual connection to the King Daerons.
Jon sends Sam to the Citadel and Maester Aemon yet again connects Jon to a Targaryen king, this time Daeron the Good:
“My own father raised the same objections when I chose a life of service,” the old man said. “It was his father who sent me to the Citadel. King Daeron had sired four sons, and three had sons of their own. Too many dragons are as dangerous as too few, I heard His Grace tell my lord father, the day they sent me off.” Aemon raised a spotted hand to the chain of many metals that dangled loose about his thin neck.
“The chain is heavy, Sam, but my grandsire [Daeron the Good] had the right of it. So does your Lord Snow.” Samwell AFFC
VI. Aegon the Unlikely and Jon Snow (again)
Egg, Maester Aemon’s brother who is the future King Aegon the Unlikely, is mistaken for a stableboy in the ASOIAF prequel novella. Jon thinks he might be mistaken for a stableboy.
“No one sees her ladyship unless the Longinch gives his leave. You come with me. Your stableboy can stay with the horses.”
"I’m a squire, not a stableboy,” Egg insisted. “Are you blind, or only stupid?” The Sworn Sword.
It would never do to come before this queen without a retinue of his own, if half of what they said of her was true. She might mistake him for a stableboy and hand him the reins of her horse. Jon ADWD.
VII. Kings hiding under the Snow.
The way GRRM phrases this sentence:
"Kings are a rare sight in the north." Robert snorted "More likely they were hiding under the snow. Snow, Ned”! Ned AGOT.
VIII. The Black Bastard & the real king of the castle.
When Arya is in the Red Keep, the seat of the kings of Westeros, she encounters Jon’s dead half sister’s cat, Balerion. The cat is called “The Black Bastard” and “the real king of the castle.” Jon is called the black bastard more than once.
“That’s the real king of this castle right there, older than sin and twice as mean... One time the king was feasting the queen’s father [Tywin], and that black bastard hopped up on the table and snatched a roast quail right out of Lord Tywin’s fingers. Robert laughed so hard he was like to burst. You stay away from that one, child.” Arya AGOT
“The black bastard [Jon] what gutted Orell," said Rattleshirt, "and a bloody warg as well.” Jon ASOS
But they were all dead now, even Arya, everyone but her half-brother, Jon. Some nights she heard talk of him, in the taverns and brothels of the Ragman’s Harbor. The Black Bastard of the Wall, one man had called him. Arya ADWD
IX.  Viserys, Jon, and kings’ seats.
“Khal Drogo says your place is not on the high bench,” Ser Jorah translated for her brother. “Khal Drogo says your place is there.”
Viserys glanced where the khal was pointing. At the back of the long hall, in a corner by the wall, deep in shadow so better men would not need to look on them, sat the lowest of the low; raw unblooded boys, old men with clouded eyes and stiff joints, the dim-witted and the maimed. Far from the meat, and farther from honor. “That is no place for a king,” her brother declared
Jon was sitting at the end of the hall which was according to Viserys, “no place for a king.”
A singer was playing the high harp and reciting a ballad, but down at this end of the hall his voice could scarcely be heard above the roar of the fire, the clangor of pewter plates and cups, and the low mutter of a hundred drunken conversations. Jon AGOT
...
“Don’t you usually eat at table with your brothers?”
“Most times,” Jon answered in a flat voice. “But tonight Lady Stark thought it might give insult to the royal family to seat a bastard among them.”
“I see.” His uncle glanced over his shoulder at the raised table at the far end of the hall. Benjen and Jon. Jon AGOT
X. Kingsguard
"Dany glimpsed Ser Barristan sliding closer, a white shadow at her side." Daenerys ADWD.
The Kingsguard wear signature all-white cloaks, and gold armor with extensive white enameling. For this reason they are sometimes colloquially called the “White Cloaks”, or the “White Swords” (wiki)
A kingsguard is  Dany’s “white shadow” there to protect her while Ghost, an albino direwolf, is Jon’s “white shadow” there to protect him.
"Ghost padded after him, a white shadow at his side." Jon ADWD.
Ghost ran with them, a white shadow at Jon’s side. Jon ADWD.
XI. A second life worthy of a king.
Jon is almost certain to warg into Ghost upon his death in the books and begin a second life “worthy of a king.”
He had known what Snow was the moment he saw that great white direwolf stalking silent at his side. One skinchanger can always sense another. Mance should have let me take the direwolf. There [Ghost] would be a second life worthy of a king. He could have done it, he did not doubt. The gift was strong in Snow, but the youth was untaught, still fighting his nature when he should have gloried in it. ADWD Prologue
XII. Gods, kings, and justice.
Brienne: "I was also taught that the gods make kings, not swords of men. If Stannis is our rightful King-..."
Catelyn: He's not. Robert was never the rightful king either, even Renly said as much. Jaime Lannister murdered the rightful king [Aerys], after Robert killed his lawful heir [Rhaegar] on the Trident. Brienne and Cat. Catelyn ACOK
The gods make kings and queens for justice:
“Why do the gods make kings and queens, if not to protect the ones who can’t protect themselves?”
“Some kings make themselves. Robert did.”
“He was no true king,” Dany said scornfully. “He did no justice. Justice … that’s what kings are for.” Daenerys ASOS.
The first time chapter GRRM ever wrote and the first time we meet Jon:
He put a hand on Bran’s shoulder, and Bran looked over at his bastard brother. “You did well,” Jon told him solemnly. Jon was fourteen, an old hand at justice. Bran AGOT.
A king should protect his people as Davos says and this is the mantra that Jon becomes the embodiment of. “I am the shield that guards the realms of men.”
"There's much I don't understand," Davos admitted...And I know that a king protects his people, or he is no king at all." Davos ASOS
The shield that guards the realms of men. Ghost nuzzled up against his shoulder, and Jon draped an arm around him. He could smell Horse's unwashed breeches, the sweet scent Satin combed into his beard, the rank sharp smell of fear, the giant's overpowering musk. He could hear the beating of his own heart. When he looked across the grove at the woman with her child, the two greybeards, the Hornfoot man with his maimed feet, all he saw was men. Jon ADWD.
XIII. Matters for a king: marriages and inheritances.
In his position as Lord Commander, Jon exceeds his mandate. He acts as a king.  By Jon’s own words:
"Marriages and inheritances [lands and property] are matters for a king, my lady." Jon to Alys Karstark. Jon ADWD
Cersei says Jon has given Stannis lands and property:
“The father [Ned] would have handed the realm to Stannis. The son [Jon] has given him lands and castles.” - Cersei to the Small Council.
Jon later brokers Alys Karstark’s marriage to the Magnar of the Thenns and secures the loyalty of the Thenns. And, Jon gives Alys away at her wedding.
“Will my lord be feasting with us?” Mully asked Jon Snow.
“Shortly.” Sigorn might take it as a slight if he did not appear. And this marriage is mine own work, after all.  Jon to Mully.
[...]
"Who brings this woman to be wed?" asked Melisandre.
"I do," said Jon. "Now comes Alys of House Karstark, a woman grown and flowered, of noble blood and birth." He gave her hand one last squeeze and stepped back to join the others. Jon ADWD.
XIV. A king must be bold
Boldness is a trait of a king according to Tyrion:
A king must be bold. Tyrion ASOS
You're [Jon] bold enough to be a Stark. Stannis to Jon. Jon ASOS.
Stannis stared at him incredulously, then gave a bark of laughter. “You are bold enough, Snow, I grant you that.” Jon ADWD.
You have a bold tongue in the king's solar, boy [Jon] - Godry to Jon. Jon ADWD.
Jon was less amused. "I will not ask my men to do what I would not do myself. I mean to lead the ranging."
"How bold of you," said the queen [Selyse].  Jon ADWD.
I want to be careful using external sources such as other books or historical events to predict future events for ASOIAF as it’s not as credulous as using the text of ASOIAF itself. But it’s fine for analytical purposes.
If anyone has read Tad Williams’ fantasy series Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, it’s obvious that ASOIAF is heavily influenced by it and George himself has stated that Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn influenced him to write ASOIAF.  The link details some of the surprising similarities between Memory, Sorrow and Thorn and ASOIAF.
Tad’s fantasy series, The Dragonbone Chair and the rest of his famous four-book trilogy was one of the things that inspired me to write my own seven-book trilogy. I read Tad and was impressed by him, but the imitators that followed — well, fantasy got a bad rep for being very formulaic and ritual. And I read The Dragonbone Chair and said, “My god, they can do something with this form,” and it’s Tad doing it. It’s one of my favorite fantasy series. - GRRM.
Jon Snow’s analogue Simon Snowlock, who has a mysterious lineage, becomes king as a last choice.  Jon is a character who’s been connected in text to a King Aegon the Unlikely who was chosen by a Council and who was not the first choice as the lords distrusted Aegon the Unlikely who’d grown up on the road with commoners.
I’ve skipped Mel’s visions (”show me your king, your instrument” and the flames whispering Jon’s name and giving Mel a mug shot of Jon) and other points because Mel’s visions are not simple and this post is already too long.
