As I’m listening to the Drizzt books more and more, the more I’m coming to the conclusion that Minthara’s Vandree Priest aka her wife figure, and first lover chose her.

So it is known that when Drow graduate from their schooling, the graduating class are made to enter into a drug pumped in the-air-orgy where the High Priestesses and the like pick from the ranks to sleep with them for the Student’s first time, and the valedictorian is given to a demon in hopes of making a half demon baby.

Considering the rank and status she was born with I imagine the Vandree priestess was watching Minthara train up on that balcony with the other older ladies who ‘watched’ the progress of the up and coming, and also likely questioned and spoke with and lowkey flirted with the hopeful clerical Minthara. And when the time of graduation came and the men lined the wall and young Minthara was with the other clerics, the Vandree Priestess pulls her over to her sitting naked under a loose robe. And the rest is history.
