𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞? I have been through so many phases in my life. Each has been so different; I feel I have lived multiple lives in one. As each phase ended, I felt a sense of falling, whether falling into something or out of something. Sometimes that feeling of falling was uncomfortable, even painful, like the kind of fall that comes with loss. Other times the fall felt freeing, like when you let go of something holding you back. Regardless of the type of fall, I always managed to look good as I fell. Whether that be because of my genes (one of the few good things I got from my mother) or my healthier habits (which I’m terrible at keeping up with), or the products I use (like the product of the month posted below) I am thankful that I can always fall in style. it’s a snow day in our neck of the woods, but on this MLK observation day, I am thinking of his words: 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙪𝙨 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧—𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. ⁣

there are a lot of conversations swirling around the best way to celebrate today and I don’t want to add to the noise. ⁣instead, I want to point to the Word of God because that’s where I go when the world gets noisy or when I want + need some direction.⁣

𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝟭:𝟮𝟳⁣

God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.⁣

𝗷𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟭𝟱:𝟭𝟮⁣

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. ⁣

𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟭𝟮:𝟵-𝟭𝟬⁣

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.⁣

there is no question — we are called to love all; those who look different, who think different, who act different, and those who hurt us. His blood covered us all.⁣

God calls us to shine His light through the way we speak to our neighbors and care for our fellow humans. MLK, who was a minister, knew this and was often quoted saying things like, “𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙'𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙨.”⁣

so even if there is a lot of noise surrounding how best to approach this day, you’ll find me talking about the importance of loving + respecting your neighbor because the behavior of our children and treatment of others begin with what conversations we are having at home. ⁣

this should motivate us to be better, speak in truth, and love all of His people because little eyes are always watching.⁣

        KATARINA   stands  up  straight   ,   snuffing  out  the  stick  on  concrete  barrier  ,   and  squishing  the  butt  underneath  her  HEEL  .         ❛     haunt  ?      ❜       disbelief  is  LOUD  and  best  friends  with  incredulousness  in  her  voice  ,  shaking  of  her  HEAD  ,  like  disappointed  mother  would  to  their  child  .

          "   you  didn't  mean  ...  what  ?   "    voice  sounds  deparated  in  your  own  ears  ,  hollow  ,  and  REVERBERATES  throughout  you  and  the  dark   room  ,   shaking  off  clammy  ,  cold  HAND  of  your  former  best  friend   ,   "   didn't  mean  for  me  to  come  after  you  ?   "    lower  the  barrel   towards  her  FOREHEAD   ,  where  she  lets  out  a  sob  ,  blubbers  with  TEARS  ,  and  you  blink  ,  and  you  look  ,  and  you  try  to  feel  something  .  anything   .  but  where  there  is  not  silent  ,  echoes  and  empty  hallways  inside  of  you  ,  there  is  only  curdling  rage  hiding  in  the  shadows  that  swallows  you  WHOLE  and  renames  itself  apathy  .    "   forget  it  .  save  it  for  god  when  you  see  him   .   "

❛    no    one!    i    ,    uh    ——    i    .    .    .    fell?    ❜    she    said    ,    and    𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙    𝙞𝙣𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙡𝙮    𝙖𝙨    𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣    𝙖𝙨    𝙩𝙝𝙚    𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘    𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩    𝙛𝙤𝙧    𝙖𝙣    𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧    𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩    𝙝𝙚𝙧    𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙨.    yeah    good    going    rob    ,    that    was    totally    believable    ;    her    internal    monologue    scolded.    she    didn’t    know    why    she    was    doing    this.    for    one    ,    she    was    an    absolutely    horrific    liar    ,    like    ,    comically    bad    ——    and    two    ,    nancy    wheeler    was    an    investigator    at    heart.    she    would    know    robin    was    lying    ,    𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗    𝚒𝚏    𝚜𝚑𝚎    𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚐𝚎𝚍    𝚝𝚘    𝚝𝚎𝚕𝚕    𝚊    𝚕𝚒𝚎    𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝    𝚠𝚊𝚜    𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚕𝚢    𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚟𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚗𝚐.    

however    ,    𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦    𝘸𝘢𝘴    𝘯𝘰    𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨    𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬    𝘯𝘰𝘸    ,    so    she    follows    it    with    :❛    y’know    how    i’m    like    deathly    afraid    of    rabies    ,    right?    well    i    saw    this    opossum    and    it    totally    looked    like    it    was    rabid    so    i    immediately    ran    and    uh    ,    took    a    tumble    .    .    . ❜        she    sighs    ,

There’s no way Nancy believes it for a second. She raises an eyebrow at Robin as she tilts her head to the side and gives a small but, curious frown. She’s not going to push it if the other girl doesn’t want to say but, she’s almost positive that the way the bruise was forming wasn’t from just a fall but rather from someone doing it to her. Which Nancy wasn’t sure why anyone would do. Sure, Robin had irritated her at first but, now she considers Robin a friend. Someone she trusts, and hopes that the other girl trusts her too.

She knows her parents aren’t going to burst it at any random time, her Mom may be a little nosey but, less so when it’s Nancy having another girl over. If it was a boy, it might have been a bit more questionable. Nancy appreciates that her Mom is much less nosey than she had been in the past.

“We both know that is total bullshit.” She speaks softly and gives the other girl a little smile. “If you don’t want to tell me then it’s okay. I’m not going to push you for an answer but, seriously Robin I wont judge you.”

She’s surprised that Robin had come to her and not Steve. Touched as well, but very surprised.”
