weary eyes take a long, lasting glance over the vampire who looks like he's ten times past the legal limit of not cracking open a cold one and sating the hunger that's building up inside him enough that...well.. he kinda looks the part versus what dean is used to seeing. something far too close to human to make him entirely comfortable. even though he's pretty cool with the guy? seeing as how stefan exudes a level of guilt and self-sacrifice that dean wonders if he should make him an honorary winchester.. he trusts him not to lose his shit, go balls deep off the edge of the wall and make dean's life a problem.

but..

there's one line that dean's toed longer than he ever wanted. okay. so more than one. but the line of vampiric hunger and what it does to you? what it twists up inside of you to the point where it feels like everything is crumbling apart inside your veins. that dust and rot take over your organs. the only thing that could make you feel alive. stave off the pain. let you feel anything but thirst and need. is blood. to sate the beast that's tearing you apart is all that can save you.

stefan reminds him of that agony in this moment. no blood for miles. they didn't plan on running this far off their course. random werewolf attack had them in a bind. dean chews the inside of his bottom lip and swings a hand towards his company. "you sure about that, stefan? you're not looking so good, buddy. a tilt of his chin towards a woods past the horizon. "maybe we can go all twilight in there? find something.. you know? for you to eat." cause man.. he's not looking so good. and this car ride might start to get awkward if he gets all veiny-eyed and fangy on him. real, real awkward.

When Buffyfirst moved to Mystic Falls, she'd been successful keeping her life as a Slayer a secret from Jenna, Jeremy, and Elena. Especially Jeremy and Elena. The last thing they needed to worry about were swim team monsters, devil dogs at the prom, or vampires crashing Parent-Teacher night. 

But, over the past couple of weeks, she watched her cousin's daughter's life paralleled hers. Living in a town infested with vampires wasn't exactly a surprise. They were everywhere. But, the fact that her best friend was a witch and that her boyfriend looked like Angel or could at least be Angel's brother or son set off warning bells in her head. 

She tried to convince herself that it was a coincidence, but earlier tonight, she was walking by Elena's room and she heard her and Not Angel talking through the door. The boyfriend was a vampire. His older brother, too. Elena was officially living Buffy's life without slayer duties. Elena sounded so scared and Buffy didn't want her to go through this alone the way she did, so she came clean about her own life. But, that was the wrong thing to do because Elena got even more upset. 

Buffy shook her head at herself for being so stupid as she appeared the house coming back from before, when she saw a shadowy figure in the corner of the porch. She recognized the hair and the jawline. It wasn't Angel. Angel was taller and a bit more muscular. She still knew who it was. "Stefan," Buffy called out to Not Angel in the most neutral tone she could manage. "I know you're there. And I know what you are. I think we need to talk."
