Aurora rolled her eyes at the mention of sarcasm, deciding to ignore the fact that she was responding with her own.
She opened her mouth to speak before her eyes caught something, or more like someone as her eyes followed the girl, who seemed about their age, before Aurora blinks, as if realising that she was currents busy with Zara.
"Yes riddles, say its for children, whatever..I don't really know how your old school works but you're here now so that's just how it works here, either get used to it or fall behind and I'm sure you'll get used to it"
Her tone seemed a bit sharper than before, less relaxed compared to when she was joking around, brushing off Zara's comments of her joke. It was like her brightness had been dimmed for some inexplicable reason
"Professor Flitwick said that you have the same classes as me so I think we should get going, no point of hanging around. It's not as if exams will wait for us"
Mumbles escaped her lips as she stood up, brushing off her robes as she checked her pocket for her wand.
It seemed as if Aurora's hair bounced with her as she stood, curls flowing across her face as she grabbed some books and handed them towards Zara, a peace offering of some sorts. It was if the witch didn't want to argue or bicker at this particular moment.
"We have potions next and it's down in the dungeons so we should get going now, I don't particularly want to lose us house points on your first real day and have the house hate you, not the best first impression"
The redhead couldn't help but feel her lips quirk back at the brunettes words.
At least she seemed to have some sort of backbone, Aurora has seen such people shirk back from answering things when new to this type of environment.
"Awe you think I'm pretty huh? Shame I can't return the sentiment"
Her words weren't nice but it didn't seem as if she was trying to put up an overtly nice front with Zara.
"But fine, whatever, keep to yourself if that's what you want. The girls dorm is up the stairs to the left cause Merlin forbid girls ever be right"
Her lips remained in a smile as she spoke the last words, as if remembering an inside joke before her eyes flickered back to Zara.
While watching how the girl leaned forward, Aurora took the opposite route, leaning back into the overtly comfortable couches. They seemed the type that could be described as well loved, worn in by an absurb amount of students cramming for exams, huddled up in groups with whispers passed around.
"The door...you have to answer a riddle to open it, riddle changes every day but there is no set password so keep your mind sharp but if you're enough to be in Ravenclaw, I'm sure you'll manage"
Aurora seemed to be more casual now, more at ease after hearing something from Zara. The witch felt more comfortable now that it didn't feel like she was conversing with a brick wall.

blood spatter. broken mirrors. fierce, piercing eyes. freshly manicured lips. six inch heels. leaving a trail of broken hearts. leaving before others wake up. manipulation and deceit. spices and herbs. never taking no for an answer. drunkenly dancing on tables. wearing sunglasses inside. vodka in a water bottle.
DETAILS.
full name: zara ani ivanova nicknames: none. dob: october twenty-eighth. age: twenty-one. gender: cis female. pronouns: she + her. orientation: pansexual.
height: 5’ 7”. eye color: blue. hair color: deep brown. occupation: healer.
fc: liz gillies.
WIZARD THINGS.
blood status: half-blood witch/vampire. school: durmstrang. animagus? none. wand:
length: 11 ¼" flexibility:
wood: fir;; there is no doubt that fir wood, coming as it did from the most resilient of trees, produced wands that demanded staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and favoured owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanour. they were poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. fir wands were called 'the survivor's wand' as its owners were known to come out of mortal peril unscathed.
core: dragon heartstring;; produced wands with the most magical power, and which were capable of the most flamboyant spells. dragon wands tended to learn more quickly than other types. while they could change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bonded strongly with the current owner. the dragon wand tended to be easiest to turn to the dark arts, though it would not incline that way of its own accord. it was also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
BIO.
unable to ever see her reflection, zara had to take the world for what it was. she would never be able to the look in the mirror and give herself pep talks or see the face everyone else saw. she would never see a soul laying behind her eyes. but being half vampire, she was said not to have a soul so there was no point in trying to find one.
being born to a witch and (secretly) a vampire, it came as a surprise to the healers when zara was born with teeth. terror went through the room at a vampire being born. her parents weren’t meant to have children and couldn’t let her go. they made a promise to one another to keep her identity a secret. but what about the healers who birthed her? her father wiped their memories as soon as he locked eyes with his wife. zara was a miracle, no matter what she needed in order to survive.
keeping her secret alive proved to be easier than they expected as she was a young child. as a family they would hunt the forests of bulgaria to provide her with the blood she required to live. however, when zara’s letter from durmstrang came, fear swept over the small family. she had to go. they knew this day was coming but didn’t know how to go about helping her once she wasn’t in the care of their modest country home. after much discussion, her parents decided it was time to share the secret, but only with the Headmaster who was surprisingly willing to help. the hunting would continue during the late night hours while the rest of the castle slumbered.
her time at durmstrang made her strength explode, both magically and physically. her body was made for fighting but her mind went somewhere completely unexpected. herbology. she tried to hide the natural talent but anyone who saw her in the greenhouse could watch her wheels turning as she created mixtures of her and plants others didn’t know what to do with. she was a master but perhaps it was because she was always on the lookout for something to aid her in her vampiric ways.
zara grew into a woman of her own. although her parents tried to lovingly and protectively keep her on a tight leash, she wouldn’t have it anymore when discovered what she she had missing out on. seduction, drugs and alcohol.
she realized she was able to get much of what she wanted by others because of what she was. she couldn’t charm them as the veela could, but sensuality may as well be synonymous with zara. and once she began drinking and doing drugs, there was no turning her away. however, along with this it became even more clear to her that she should hide parts of herself, especially her emotions. even though she dated at durmstrang, she was never fully committed nor did she want to be. that aspect of her life never changed. all she wanted was to have fun at night and have her nose in a book during the day; a sort of double life that mirrored the one she had lived at home. the only people she showed unadulterated love to were her parents because without them, she never would have lived to see her many days.
zara was now an adult but hadn’t left many of these habits behind. she still partied and still educated herself everyday, carrying a notebook and pen with her wherever she went. this was her way of life. it’s all she knew. all the knowledge in the world couldn’t take away the fact that there was a hole inside herself, constantly a reminder when she passed by any reflective surface and saw nothing. since she couldn’t actually see herself and had no blueprint of what life as a half-witch, half-vampire should look like, she had to create something else. and that’s what she spent her entire life doing -- and would continue doing.
when news traveled to bulgaria of the war, she felt she had the duty to go to london in an effort to prevent the war from crossing country lines. she didn’t want her parents being found out or, worse, murdered. she loved them. they were her constant support and love and there was no way in hell she was going to let anything happen to them, even if it cost zara her life. she never escaped knowledge or her want for power. however, what would be the price of that power?
zara holds on to hope that the order will be the place where she finds the support she needs to save herself, her family and her fellow creatures. and perhaps the chance to find a way to see herself for not only for what she is but who she is.

Girls Night Girls Night Girls Night
It took her a second but her hand finally clasped around the right one. Liv pulled the red bottle from under her sink and read over the dusty label. This one would be perfect. The label was something that looked vaguely french which meant it had to be decent at least. She wasn’t a wine expert but the colleague who had given it to her last Christmas promised it was nice. Normally she wasn’t the red wine type but she was guessing her guest was. She couldn’t imagine Zara drinking a rosé, that was for sure.
Standing up from her crouch by the sink she flicked her wand towards the cabinets. Two glasses floated lightly down from a height that was normally just a hair out of her reach. (They were thankfully dust free.) She turned and did a half wave with her wand and her candles sputtered to life. Finally she stood back to appreciate the full picture. She had the wine, the pleasant atmosphere and a loaf of bread baking. It was nice, very girls night-ish.
Ever since returning to England she’d come to the realization that her back home friends were few and far between. She enjoyed people so it was beginning to feel a bit like a self imposed exile. So here was her effort to remedy that. She and Zara had met through work and the few weeks they had worked alongside each other had been pleasant. Remembering her, Liv had sent her an owl inviting her over the week prior and it had been met pleasantly.
She was adjusting her knickknacks when the bell rang at the exactly the stroke of six. Liv straightened her blouse before yanking open the door and greeting her guest. “Zara! It’s so wonderful to see you. You look fantastic, love the shoes.” She hoped she was coming off a little too much. “Please, come in! How have you been?”

Merlin’s beard she hadn’t felt this out of her depth since, well, since getting stuck pretending to be Owen Baldwin of all people. At least this time she had back up.
Emmeline stood in the middle of Zonko’s, a store she’d never entered before in her entire life, one hand wrapped firmly around Zara’s wrist and looking entirely like a fish out of water.
The store was so loud. Everything popped and banged, something kept whizzing past her head. All around people had to shout to get heard by storekeepers and a small child holding what looked like some sort of weird door jam ran straight in front of her path without even looking. She never should’ve opened her mouth and promised the Weasley kids anything. But it was the Weasley kids, how could she not?
“Zara please tell me you at least have been here before? Like even once?”

ZARA IVANOVA
Occupation: Up to player Age: 22 Gender: Female Pronouns: She/Her Blood status: Part-vampire Allegiance: Order of the Phoenix Faceclaim: Lily Collins
You’re hardly the most blood-obsessed person around, are you? The first time you tasted the blood of the Sacred 28, you were expecting it to be special. To be something remarkable, to have any more magic in it than the average person on the street. To be something worth all the pain they put others through, the pain of the transformation you took to protect yourself. It wasn’t, though. It was as ordinary as anyone else’s.
HISTORY:
Zara was born to Elena Ivanova and an unknown suitor in 1959. In the year prior to her birth, there were many nights that Zara’s mother didn’t remember, so how her daughter turned out to be part vampire is a mystery that will probably never be solved. It was a trait that Elena discovered early on while nursing and somehow managed to keep a secret as Zara grew older.
When Zara was of age, Elena sent her off to Durmstrang to receive formal schooling as a witch. During Zara’s childhood, Elena discovered how to keep Zara’s vampiric hunger at bay. A blood lolly here, a sanguine pastry snack there, and, for the most part, her appetite was satisfied. Elena explained it to younger Zara as it being a special superpower that she had to keep secret from everyone else, because otherwise people would be jealous and scared of her power. As Zara neared school-age, she told her daughter the truth and helped her practice controlling her hunger when blood wasn’t available. Though the two developed strategies for her to covertly feed while at school, they both knew there could potentially be blood droughts and Zara needed to be prepared for that.
More than anything, Zara was excited to start at Durmstrang. One of her cousins was already there and she was eager to develop her magical abilities. Zara had always been competitive, taking on challenges wherever she could, and she was sure Durmstrang would provide that and more. And she was right. During her seven years at the school, Zara found her classes fascinating, enjoying martial magic in particular, and found a special comradery among her quidditch teammates. Though there were several close calls, she managed to keep her dark secret. The trick, she found, was not being particularly close with anyone. Though Zara had a variety of friends and amicable rivals, she never let herself get too close to anyone.
Well before graduation, Zara knew the career path she wanted to pursue - freelance curse-breaking. The job had all the allures that Zara was looking for; it was dangerous, challenging, and, if she succeeded, highly profitable. With her aims set, both she and those around her knew there was no stopping her. Upon graduating, Zara set off on her own. She travelled light and moved around from country to country at will, following the jobs that were both risky and rewarding. As time went on, the adrenaline rush from the danger became an addiction. She found herself taking frighteningly dangerous jobs to feel the same high she had felt when she started, and even though she was, to some degree, self-aware of what she was doing, she had no intention of stopping.
Her cousin, Valerija, was the one who finally did something. Zara was visiting Valerija in England in between jobs when Valerija noticed something was off. Even without Zara admitting it, Valerija could see the toll Zara’s unadulterated ambition was taking on her. Rather than telling Zara to stop, Valerija invited Zara to join the Order. She figured that if Zara had other commitments in her life, more purpose, she might slow down. Thankfully, it worked. Zara still has bouts of recklessness, but Valerija and those she’s met through the Order keep her grounded for the most part. Zara doesn’t care much for the altruism of the Order’s cause, but rather she cares for helping those she has formed relationships with and the unique, challenging projects that she gets to undertake because of the Order’s objectives.

It's almost Valentine's! Who do you think has big plans, and who's more likely to spend it sad and alone (or happy and alone, you never know)?
It sounds like you’re more interested in hearing about the loners. I consider a lonely hearts column to be more of Gil’s thing, but fine, I’ll see if I can find someone sad and desperate for you.
Mafalda Hopkirk is the first to come to mind to fit that description. She’s a disaster and always seems willing to have a few drinks and get a little stupid with someone, but... considering the experience she and Gil shared, maybe not. So alone and maybe happy about it for her.
Didn’t Zara Ivanova and Yuki Yamashita used to have a thing? Maybe it was their shared air of not needing anyone that drew them together, but that doesn’t matter since they seem to be acting like they don’t even know each other these day. That’s another case of happy and alone, if you ask me.
Considering her main squeeze is in another country, it seems like Emmeline Vance is going to spend the day alone and I bet she’s sad about that, so there’s a lonely heart for you.
As for big plans, who cares? You’re not going to be part of them.

So you feel entitled to a sense of control And make decisions that you think are your own You are a stranger here, why have you come? Why have you come, lift me higher, let me look at the sun Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly, say Who, who are you really? And where, where are you going? I've got nothing left to prove Cause I've got nothing left to lose See me bare my teeth for you Who, who are you?

Location: Ravenclaw common room.
Who: Zara Ivanova @zara-ivanova
Aurora took a deep breath as her blue eyes locked with the girl in front of her.
Part of her hoped that this was a nightmare, the other part of her prayed. Either way having some random girl shadowing her, and that was what it felt like with the last of speaking, was slowly chipping away at what was supposed to be a good final year at the school that she had found a home in.
The witch let out her breath as a sigh, her lips parted as she wracked her mind for something to say.
"Alright..this is the common room, it's pretty empty for now but it gets pretty busy so"
She trailed off, unsure of how to approach this new girl, she seemed unappreciated, distant in some sort of way.
The whole situation felt off to the Ravenclaw, transferring during the last year of school for no apparent reason from what she has heard. Alarm bells were tingling in the back of her mind, not that that would dissuade her. She had been picked to show Zara around for reasons unknown to her but she doubted her professors did it without reason.
"Do you have any questions or should I take your silence as some sort of selective mutism?"
Aurora let out some snark in her tone, part of what she was saying a test of sorts, she wanted to judge the others character, preferably soon than later.

tutelage
Emmeline had been informed she was getting a shadow weeks ago, and then she’d forgotten at least three times since then. Between the war, the deaths, and things with Maura she was frankly amazed she managed to stop by the right place on the right day.
She could remember how scared she’d been when she first started at Mungo’s. It had been her first ever job and she’d stayed up the whole night pestering Hestia with questions and possible worst-case scenarios. Likely she’d driven poor Hess insane, the lovely woman.
When she saw Zara, Emmeline made sure to smile. Emergency Ward wasn’t the world’s best introduction to Healing but it certainly was one of the most accurate. And you’d learn the most.
“Hello, you must be the new blood. I’m Emmeline.”
