Ino had been reminiscing. She didn't often get nostalgic but she'd see something or someone which her brain would immediately associate to past events or past circumstances or even long lost behaviours. She had spotted two little girls arguing over a boy on her way to Sakura's house. The trio made a familiar picture, too familiar for her to ignore. Naturally, she was reminded of a time when she and Sakura used to be that way, young and untainted by hardships or war, too naive to know any better. Only children could have turned something as serious as love into a competition and only children could have discarded a friendship like old, ripped clothes in favour of pursuing someone who clearly didn't want to be pursued.
To this day, Ino still apologized to Sasuke. She wasn't proud of herself, not when it came to that particular chapter of her life.
She also felt as though Sakura needed the occassional reminder, that no, she held nothing against her for breaking apart their friendship, that she didn't hate her, not even back then. She hadn't known how to hate her other half. How could she? Did Yin hate Yang?
"Sakura...." she warned, touched by the words and more than that, touched by the unmistakeable sinceritiy she heard in the pinkette's voice. "Don't go ruining my mascara now. I spent quite a bit of time on making myself look this gorgeous, you know."
'Presentable' would have been the better word. Ino had to conceal the dark rings and bangs underneath her eyes. While foundation did its job well, she figured that attracting attention upon her aquamarine orbs would lower the chances of someone seeing past that layer of face make-up.
Few things got her tear-eyed these days and Sakura just managed to do so. It was a little embarrassing.
"It won't happen again." she replied, confident despite the slight vulnerability she felt at the moment. "Bold of you to asume I'd let go of you this time around." Ino shook her head negatively and clicked her tongue. "Not without a fight, at least."
Her expression softened considerably. "You mean the world to me too, Forehead." the childhood nickname slipped off her lips easily, naturally. It was habit now more than anything else. It lacked the bite she used on purpose back then. Kami, just how horrible had she been? Ino stepped closer and wrapped her arms around Sakura, as if somehow the gesture could make up for all the insults she had hurled at her years ago. "You are family to me. I may have not made it obvious, but you are."
Sakura had a special place inside her heart, right near her blood relatives and Team Asuma.

@shikkotsunin
Drool was threatening to fall from the Hokage's mouth. He wore an agonizing expression upon his features, the rumble of his stomach the only thing keeping him awake. His cheek was propped against his fist as he slouched over the desk in boredom. This particular meeting had gone on for hours with the change of events happening to their youth as their topic, the elders were relentless about it and it was like a rehearsal at this point. They wanted to be prepared for the upcoming summit. During the summit the only ones from the leaf present would be Shikamaru and Naruto but Naruto had this down by now and their long winded explanations were from habit in case they missed anything. Naruto didn't care the how's or why's he was simply focused on protecting everybody.
The Talk No Jutsu became a regular every time somebody was in front of him but he was far too tired to try it now. It surprisingly, was working so much better than the unanswered questions and lost paths when handling the village issues. He was always blunt with his thoughts but in adulthood he held more reserve because some words could be taken wrong being counter productive. All lessons he had learned from the third of what not to do he kept close so not to make the same mistakes. Sweeping things away didn’t really fix their issues and he was living proof of that; thankfully he took after his parents in will.
All the same, he couldn't help but become bored when Shikamaru went on one of his big worded rants. As Hokage, he couldn't just interrupt and ask him to use words with less than three syllables, that option would certainly send the male on another lecture of how he should take things more serious, It simply wasn't worth the trouble.
Naruto had also learned to understand Shikamaru with the basic points, keeping pace blue eyes following the male across the room. Naruto could always tell which topic’s Shikamaru was honestly concerned with, such was shown with the movement of his hands. The male made habit of letting passion seep out in body movements. Blue hues then moved to Kakashi and his thoughts went astray. He had not seen his Sensei as much lately but Kakashi appeared well. Matter of fact, Kakashi had life in him that was a bit different not to mention he traveled the world happily so Naruto was happy for him.
His Sensei managed to always remain close enough to help when it was needed but far enough away to finally have found peace. Skimming to Konohamaru he shifted his posture to set back listening to the reports given in proof. Naruto gave a sigh having finally having had enough for one day. The Uzumaki set back folding his arms over his chest patiently waiting for the point to be made and agreed upon.
Naruto was always up to speed because in the end he was listening to what had already read prior in the reports filed, he was tired of hearing the problem instead of solutions but didn’t voice it. Exhaustion was beginning to cloud his logic anyways and Naruto now had the attention span of a five year old. Konohamaru had grown up and worked very hard, in fact, Naruto was impressed over all but he missing one fact, their young were going to be just like them if not better.
"Listen, We should put a little faith in the kids too. I mean we didn't exactly look very competent either and things went kinda fast. We can protect them until they will protect us, ya know.
Naruto laughed with a carefree shrug taking a deep breath standing up to stretch not regretting one word. The male was going to attempt break the weight that had fallen over the office and those inside. They needed a shift of tempo on a positive note because they were drowning int he bad. Placing his hands on the desk, Naruto leaned forward to speak his mind opening his lips to respond with two words to explain why he was rushed to leave.
"Im hungry! I mean, the summit is weeks away and debating what could happen all night wont make it come any faster!"
Shikamaru had stated his point three times already in the last two hours and gave a shrug in agreement having nothing more to say. He figured a breath of fresh air wouldn't hurt and remained silent already making his way to the door in lazy stride. He was also opting that they take a break to refresh their minds, perhaps it would bring back the focus. Naruto hated the tenseness that often came in these meetings.
Finally the Hokage was free and Naruto wasted no time locking everything away. When he finished he turned rounding the desk in a bolt for the door. He stopped in the doorway with a shake of his head flicking the light off pulling the door up behind him.
His mind went to the old days the frown upon his features reflecting how bad the blond wished to go there where everything seemed so simple even when complicated. Nowdays things were just complicated. After enjoying his ramen to fix the first of issues he turned for the sunset rushing for the gates. He had been scolded many times for disappearing but still found the time for himself without regrets even if he was just running along treetops with no destination.
After an hour he passed into the small clearing studying the cozy villa. He let a few bouts of laughter escape him as he landed on the wooden planks leading up to the compound careful not to make a sound. The location was genius and held a sense of peace so he didn’t worry too much for them either. He chased Sasuke across the world for years, and he hoped Sakura would know it didn’t matter where she went, he would always come to check on her.
Cursing under his breath he began to rub the back of his neck a thought dawning on him. Naruto had not brought a gift of greeting out of custom. He would wing it but what would he give Sarada? The Hokage's eyes shifted from the door and he began to pat himself down his brow twitching as the Hokage hunted for something of value to give them.
Biting his lip he shoved his hand into his pockets only to pull out a bit of lint. Taking in a deep breath his eyes moved from the door as he turned to gaze out to the surrounding area with plan B. Moments later he returned to the same doorstep with neatly groomed flowers in his hand. Twisting the small vines he tied it into place with a satisfied smirk. Inspecting it from a side angle the Hokage continued to work on his little project making it as neat and colorful as possible. When finished the Naruto finally knocked on the door his eyes still glued to his project making sure it was suitable.
"Dr. Haruno you alive in there I think I broke my........everythin’?"
Naruto wasn’t too sure she'd be more impressed he found the place so quick or the fact he challenged her with his statement of being injured. He couldn’t help the Cheshire smirk that crossed his whiskers. The blond mentally counting the seconds before she answered in a blaze of glory.

❛ i knew it would come to that. ❜
Tenten wasn't the best at comforting people. Each time she tried doing it...it felt forced, somewhat. As though her hands had been created solely for fighting, for handling weapons, and not at all other human beings.
That had never stopped her from trying, though. Friends like Sakura were worth getting clumsy over. Yes, that's the word. Clumsy. It was ironic how her fingers were precise and capable when firing kunai, senbon, shuriken. How her grip was sure and certain whenever she held a sword.
It was pitful how those failed her when it came to matters of the heart, though.
"Just because you know something is going to happen...that doesn't make it hurt any less when it finally does." she replied, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and giving a light squeeze. Tenten wanted to let Sakura know that it was alright to hurt, to face her pain, ride the wave of her emotions. It was healthier that way. Keep everything inside and it'd fester, much like poison would.
"You can cry." her eyes softened. "I won't think any less of you." she reassured her.
Tenten had watched Sakura grow into her role as a kunoichi. Had witnessed the magnitude of her strength and would be one of the first to defend her against scumbags who disconsidered her accomplishments or made her feel as though she was less of a shinobi because of the kind, hopeful heart she carried inside her chest.

@shikkotsunin liked for a starter (Genma (& Asuma & Yamato) & Sakura)
The early dawn sunlight did little to warm the ground of the training field and did even less to brighten Genma's spirits. Sitting cross-legged on the grass, his chin resting in the palm of one hand, he barely suppressed a yawn. He'd never been a morning person. Plucking a fresh senbon from a pouch, he popped it between his lips and stretched his back, letting his gaze sweep around him, optimistically seeking his sensei.
Spotting no flash of pink amongst the greens and browns of his surroundings, he sighed. It was probably some kind of test, making them wait for her. Resisting the urge to grumble, he instead cast his gaze over his teammates, pleased to see that at least one of them looked as unhappy about the hour as he felt.
They hadn't been a team for very long, but he knew them both well enough from their Academy days. When his name had been called alongside theirs he'd had a moment of fleeting panic and inadequacy – well, who wouldn't, when his teammates were both descended from powerful clans? His own was small and painfully average, nothing much to shout about at all. Of coursehe'd felt intimidated by their potential.
After a few weeks together, however, those feelings had dwindled to a whisper at the back of his mind. He'd bonded instantly with Asuma – the two of them shared a very similar laid-back outlook on life, and he'd learned quickly that the Sarutobi was keen to shake off the expectations of the family name.
Yamato, however, still scared him a little, and he wasn't too proud to admit it. He'd been a little on the weird side ever since he'd turned up at the Academy one day bearing the Senju name, with his odd formal manners and unblinking gaze. Then he'd grown a tree in the training yard – a small tree, but a tree nonetheless – and he'd gone from weird to terrifyingly impressive.
"Hey – do you think she's late?" He asked, looking between them. Asuma, flat on his back beside him, shrugged. "She was supposed to be here half an hour ago, right?"
"No." Yamato spoke up, standing over them like a sentry. When he looked down at them, his smile was devious. "We're early. I told you both the wrong time so you wouldn't be late."
If it hadn't been a genius idea, Genma might have spit his senbon at him.

“ we’ll never be those kids again. ”
pinterest sentence starters. / accepting.
ㅤ ㅤ And it had better stay that way, the thought that floated inside Karin's head at those unexpected words. The motivation behind them wasn't known at this time, but she had some conjectures of her own. So many people talked about childhood with a voice filled with nostalgia — remembering the sweet moments lived with their parents, the first friendships blossoming in the first games, so many incredible discoveries every single day. The first days were like that for her, living on the road with a mother so loving that she didn't even miss her father that much. Some places were welcoming, few people looked at them sympathetically, and the knowledge of the woman's special gift changed everything in the blink of an eye. Healing people with just one bite, enduring pain and exhaustion as if that was what she was born for, in front of a confused, helpless child. ❝ You make it sound like something bad. ❞ Her answer came after a heartbeat, her expression hard as if carved from marble. Sakura's past was still an open question in many ways, maybe she had a good time. However, her training as a kunoichi also began at an early age.
ㅤ ㅤ The steaming mug was right in front of her, both hands wrapped around it with a supposedly cozy attitude, letting the pleasant heat warm her palms. Crimson eyes watched the liquid with little interest, it was evident her mind was in another time, another place. A long sip preceded her speech, brief so as not to sound like a tormented soul, it would be a fatal blow on her self-esteem. ❝ Those kids had no choice, growing up to serve the vested interests of a village. ❞ Kusagakure or Konohagakure, the location didn't matter in the end, they all had one goal in mind only. Extracting as much as possible from those ranks of still-so-innocent children, impressing upon them a sense of duty from day one. Dying for the village was more than an honorable act — it was an obligation to sacrifice their own lives, and even their companions' or innocent people, for the greater good. ❝ I don’t know about you, but I don’t miss those days at all. ❞ Since her sacrifice left permanent marks, not just the countless bite scars all over her body, but the submission imposed on her as the only way to survive. Worst of all, it was just the beginning, as she was always seen as a tool above everything else.

@shikkotsunin asked: ❛ nothing can break me down. ❜ THE KILLERS / STARTER SENTENCES.
“That much is obvious. I mean you’re a powerhouse in your own right, Sakura. Regardless of what anyone else might say.” The blonde replied. Ino was there to witness her best friend’s development into the woman that she is now, and had absolutely no doubts that she could indeed handle herself well enough on her own. “But still... I want you to know I will always be at your side, should you need anyone at your corner.” However, just because Sakura was more independent and self-sufficient, didn’t mean that Ino wouldn’t still offer her help and company should she want it. Sakura meant the world to her, and as her closest friend, she needed the Haruno to know so.

@shikkotsunin asked:
“don’t you care about me at all?” Maybe for the hellsing verse if you still have muse? 8))
“Me, care for anyone?” It’s a teasing lilt, but his hand flops onto her head and he ruffles her hair a little. “You’re asking a bit too much, aren’t you?”
“Still, I’ve come to care for you,” He assures. As much as a several-hundred-year old vampire can care, he knows. “You know, as a snack.”
Can’t let her get too complacent, he thinks, and the next thought-- Damn, I’m going soft.

he was sick and tired of the asura realms, the pace at which the environment changed was almost dizzying and quite frankly annoying. the scene had once again altered and just as hana was about to cuss out the great spirit and that uncle god of his for putting him through countless tests for his own benefit, the scenery surrounding him caught his eye. it was so different. it was nothing like the kind he'd been in until now -- war-torn, plane debris, and corpses scattered all over the tiny island he was on. no, this place was filled with luscious green crowns on tall trees, wild animals in the surrounding woods, and a single dirt road ahead. something was not right. amber hues narrowed at the road as there was no sign ahead that would indicate what it lead to. if hana wanted to find out, he'd have to keep walking, but a big part of him did not want to find out. climbing up on one of the tall trees to take a nap in the shadow of its leaves sounds ideal right about now, but who knows what his uncle would pull if he did do that. so, he walks ahead. it was peaceful despite the peculiar quality of this place, his senses soaking in the light, fresh breeze, the warm touch of sun rays on his pale skin, the lack of the modern world disturbing nature. having lived in the outskirts of tokyo, he has not been witness to this often; only once or twice when he'd been in izumo. a large gate comes into view after a while of walking, with some strange symbols etched into its wooden plates. he can read the hiragana well enough, but the young asakura has not seen anything like that in all of his travels, and he's seen a lot of weird things. his gaze spots a speck of pink hair near the entrance of the gate, his mind instantly associating it with tamao, and it's enough to have him approach the girl. surely she'd know since she belongs to this asura realm. " oi, can you tell me what this place is? " he asks as soon as he is within hearing distance, hands shoved in his pockets, and shoulders squared.
started for @shikkotsunin !!

"With our rivalry, and everything else... you know it really wasn't over Sasuke-kun, right? I still wish it hadn't happened, anyways." (heya! ^^)
Of course she knew.
Their mutual crush wasn't reason enough to build a complex rivarly over. Sasuke had been used as a smokescreen of sorts. A motive to hide behind, hide from themselves, from each other what the real problem actually was. Most people hadn't bothered to look underneath their childish pretext, more than willing to buy their lousy act.
Tch. Future kunoichi fighting over men? Self-respecting ones as she and Sakura clearly were?
Not to say that they hadn't gotten familiar with jealousy during their pre-teens, but the reasons behind their fallout went deeper than that. "You felt that you couldn't grow in my shadow. That'd you remain there unless we split." she spoke, slender fingertips gingerly touching the petals of a Pink Hydrangea.
"I would have never stood in the way of your growth, Sakura. Never."
And perhaps that's what had hurt Ino the most back then. What had truly shocked her. Sure, she knew many girls envied her in some way or another. What wasn't there to envy? Hell, she even took pride in that fact. Less so these days, the war and time had done much to mature her. However...she hadn't thought Sakura felt the same way.
Ino should have been more considerate. She should have reassured her in some way that there wasn't any competition. It was them against the world. Not them against each other.
"I know you feel bad. I do so, too." a rare moment of sincere vulnerability, a confession that let the pinkette know she wasn't entirely to blame. It was Sakura who had thrown down the gauntlet, but it had been her choice to pick it up. "What happened, happened. We can't turn back the clock. And who knows, maybe it was needed. Look how you turned out in the end." there was a hint of pride in Ino's voice.
She plucked the Pink Hydrangea and went over her flower shop's counter to reach one of her oldest friends. "You have blossomed into a beautiful flower." Ino smiled as she tucked the flower behind Sakura's ear. "Deadly too." Ino added with a wink.

“ah!” she was expecting it would be an elder knocking on her door at this early hour of the morning. the door opens a bit more in front of sakura, yoshino already way more at ease now that she won’t get lectured by a clan leader.
“sakura! nice to see you, dear. how have you been?” she takes half a second before moving out of the way as an invitation, gesturing towards the still slightly dark hallway. “where are my manners, come in. tsunade-sama mentioned you’d stop by for a look through the medical books of the clan, right?”
#shikkotsunin#hello hello i hope this is ok!! i thought this would be a cool way for them to interact <3#lmk if it works for u!!#she was brave and strong and broken all at once. ( main )

@shikkotsunin asked:

𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑩𝑨𝑳 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑻𝑺
∗ 42﹕ sender barges into receiver’s home unannounced .
Under normal circumstances, the Yamanaka wouldn’t be someone you would be able catch off guard very easily. As a shinobi, it was never good to be too nonchalant even off-duty. However, she did let her guard down a bit when she was in her own home. After all, it seemed like the one place one should be able to relax a little in--- and maybe that would be the case for anyone that didn’t have Sakura as a best friend.
Ino had been tidying up her home when the Haruno had decided to barge in uninvited, and she couldn’t help that she jumped when her door loudly met the wall. Ino just wished that a plate hadn’t been in her hand at the time. The blonde stared at the shattered pieces on the ground briefly before jerking her head in Sakura’s direction.
“Sakura, what the hell?!” Ino snapped as she crouched to pick up the broken pieces on the floor. “---Ya know, just because I live above the flower shop does not mean that my home has the same open-door policy!” She knew that statement would fall on deaf ears, as both of them had long forgotten manners when it came to barging into each other’s houses, but she was seething over being caught off-guard, and yelling made her feel better.
#shikkotsunin#ino probably barges into saku's home waaaay more and yet ino is throwing a fit over her doing the same thing lmaoo

When Kabuto finally calms down long enough to find Sakura standing in his doorway, he can only assume that she’s probably not just looking at him, given that his bedroom in the orphanage has been thoroughly trashed, from a bed mauled with Chakra Scalpels to a broken lamp to pried up floorboards ...
For a moment, admittedly, as he stares back at Sakura, Kabuto can’t even remember what made him so paranoid in the first place.
“My parole officers said something odd, and ... I just ... I ... ” He swallows thickly. “I think the room is bugged.”
