i don't have much of a social life of my own not to mention any sort of love life but god i'm soo so sad about my favourite dead people and the painful events that occured in their private lives. to know that even one of them went through heartbreak and loss in any shape or form is too much for me the world is so unfair

#yes i am reading the czapski+hering letters again. i feel so very sad #imagine getting to know someone you feel completely seen and understood by and having your feelings reciprocated #after a lifetime of pining for people most of whom didn't give a shit about you #and getting to spend a few years in their company #just to have it all torn apart by a world war that ends up with the two of you on the opposite sides of the iron curtain #and then both of you go on with your separate lives bc strangely enough the world hasn't fallen apart #and you write letters as heartfelt as is possible seeing that there's no guarantee they won't be read by unwelcome eyes #and profess undying faithfulness to each other declaring that the essence of your bond hasn't changed one bit #but that isn't really possible is it. if we're going to be honest #@mr czapski you wrote yourself that it is as useless to think about painting without a brush in hand as thinking about faith without prayer #what good is exchanging letters when your lives are not shared. this whole correspondence is a record of two loving people growing apart #for reasons that neither of them had any control over #as they say. screaming crying throwing up
