He kisses him hard and inelegant basking at the shocked half-pained sound he makes. Yarren drags the tip of his tongue against Thiery’s lower lip and braces himself to be pushed away. Thiery’s hands do move but instead of pushing, they wrap around Yarren. Thiery keeps kissing him. Something in Yarren bursts in triumph. He tries to soften the kiss, but Thiery is too frantic, too forceful as if scared of Yarren changing his mind and running away.

1. Is writing a hobby or way of life?

I always call it a hobby, but almost always prefixed with some form of, "greatest," "most important," or "favorite." I think way of life fits a helluva lot better. I've been writing since I can remember.

2. A journal full of writing notes or a clean, completed manuscript?

The journal one. I have like 900 I'm actively writing in at this very moment.

3. Who (or what) is your writing inspiration?

Cormac McCarthy. The love I have for my shitty characters. The agonizing unignorable need to put words on paper or screen.

4.Which is worse: someone you "idolize" reading your first draft or listening to you sing?

The singing one. I am not ashamed of my writing, but I have been taught to be ashamed of my singing lmfao. Which is weird and dumb because singing isn't something I go around telling people I can do decently - I don't tell people, "Oh, I sing," or, "I'm a singer." So, I have nothing to prove on that front, yet... I don't think I could make a peep of noise if someone said, "Sing me a song." Meanwhile, even when my writing's not at it's best, I'm like, "Yeah, I'm a writer. Here's some shit I wrote that isn't good. Sometimes I write good stuff, though."

5. Has writing from someone else's POV ever changed your own perspective?

I mean... in the literal sense, sure. A story looks different from the eyes of a character. By the same token, it helps me "understand" when people make choices I've not personally made. I think, for this reason, it's important to write about characters with different belief systems than we have - to write about them as sympathetic people with complex emotions. Not just to villainize or cathartically punish them, but to explore why people do the things they do and what life events might drive them in that direction. But cathartic character murder has its time and place, and who am I suggest what others write? Y'all do y'all.

6. Tumblr, AO3, LiveJournal, or FFN?

I have not used LiveJournal since I was a teen - is it still a thing people use??? That sounds nostalgic and fun. Not sure what FFN is; something to do with fanfiction? I only write original fiction, so that rules it out if so. AO3 is very cool, but the interface isn't my favorite. Also fanfic-heavy, so I never know if I've got a place there. Tumblr always freaked me right the fuck out, but the Writeblr community has proven to be my favorite writing community I've discovered online. And in a very short timespan, I might add!

7. AO3 wordcount, and are you satisfied with it?

I do not use AO3 but wordcounts can never be high enough 😎

8. What movie/book/fic gripped you irrevocably?

Probably too many to count. Little House on the Prairie A Separate Peace The Road Fight Club (recently rewatching this was humbling because it showed me how much of my writerly personality seems to be inspired by the way it rearranged my brain chemicals) Bullet Train (I fucken love this movie) Lawn Dogs Box of Moonlight Harold and Maude (book & movie) Pride and Prejudice (book & movie)

9. What’s the highest compliment you’ve ever been given, and have you been given it?

I've received some absolute banger compliments, and I don't want to dismiss any in favor of others. My favorite compliments are often ...questions? Just things that let me know people really did read, absorb, and are interested in things I wrote. Also, my love language is when people think about me of their own volition. So, any time people come to me apropos of nothing or say "this reminds me of you/your characters/your writing, I giggle and kick my feet and do a lil' happy dance.

10. What defines your writing style?

Gritty, casual. If it was art, it'd be the kind with the sketchlines still visible. Deep, silly. Visceral, I hope.

Thiery: I would have my cooks prepare some easily transportable dishes - an assortment of cold meats and stuffed pastries would do

Yarren: Depends on what I can get my hands on. I could bring some wild fruit I guess

2. Someone close to you has fallen sick. What is the first thing you do?

Thiery: make sure they have the most comfortable chambers in the Castle available, then call for my doctor

Yarren: wrap them in a blanket, make sure they have lots of fruits, then I would get Una. She would use her powers to heal them or give me some herbs for them

3. What do you do when you can’t stay asleep?

I’ll be answering as Sam from my fic Sic ‘Em, specifically Sam as he is in my upcoming chapter.

Are you named after anyone?

Me? Nah, don’t think so. Might’ve been one of my father’s friends but… well, I can’t really ask him anymore.

When was the last time you cried?

Aughhh… reckon I cried pretty hard when I was in that hospital. I’m not too sure, I only remember bits and pieces. But I know I was havin’ nightmares. If I cried, that’s when.

Do you have any kids?

I’ve got one on the way! Can’t wait to be a Da. Fia thinks it’s a girl, but I know it’s a boy. I’d bet money on that.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Ah, not really. Only when I’m angry, I s’pose.

What is the first thing you notice about people?

I notice the way they carry themselves. You can tell a lot about a man by the way he walks into a room. Confidence and cockiness are very different: one walks softly, the other makes a racket.

What is your eye color?

Gray. They’re my father’s eyes.

Any special talents?

I can sing! Or at least, Fia likes it when I sing. I can also… bend my thumb into my wrist— y’see that? There we are, that’s talent.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings. I have enough to worry about, don’t need to fret over a Nosferatu situation. Did you see that one? I did. Wasn’t a fan. Eugh.

Where were you born?

I don’t think I know really. Never asked, but I reckon it was somewhere north. Grew up mostly by Liverpool, though, so I’ll say that.

Do you have any pets?

I reckon the horses count, but they’re more family than pet. Fleet Ypres is the short, black filly over there, and that tall old mare is Queen Bathsheba. Ypres and Queenie, we call ‘em. I want a dog, but Fia wants a cat, so we’ve agreed on a compromise: we’ll have a kid! That… that was a joke. I’m sorry.

How tall are you?

About 181 centimeters. Or if you’re an American, that’s 5 feet, 11 inches. Which is not easy growing up, I’ll tell you.

What was your favorite subject in school?

Ah… I’d never been. And before you say anythin’ smart about it, I know all the math and history I need to know. Reading and writing is… that’ll come. It will.

What is your dream job?

Once upon a time I wanted to be a pilot. An aerial ace, actually, back in the war. But that… that didn’t work out. So I guess if I had to pick, that would be it. But I’m comfortable where I am, yeah? Don’t get me wrong. Being a farrier’s no easy job but the horses make it worth it.

Sorrel epitomizes what it means to be a fox of the forest. Inquisitive and adventurous, she loves going out and spending days away from the village. Free-spirited, she is not afraid of letting her opinion be known, and can be quite willful and stubborn at times. But she also has a softer side, and she is fiercely loyal and compassionate to those that earn her friendship.

Ernie Ruiz is a former street kid made sort-of-good. Born in the Louisiana oil patch to a hard-drinking derrickhand and a religious fanatic, Ernie ran away as a teen and resurfaced in New Orleans. They now run the 219, a dive bar inherited from their unofficial foster father Ed Robichaux (whose ashes reside in a fancy beer stein on a shelf behind the bar). Ernie is cynical, commitment-phobic and aromantic, and a complete slob who lives in torn Levis and Chuck Taylors. They occasionally pick their regulars' pockets just to keep their fingers nimble. (And usually give the stuff back. Usually.)

My OC

Emaeh is extremely curious about everything, often times resulting in her getting into trouble. She's gotten pretty good at handling those situations, but there's been a few times she's bitten off more than she can chew! Loyal to a fault, if she latches onto you, good luck trying to get rid of her. Certified arsonist and sarcasm queen, she is very chaotic and ruthless. She has RBF and appears to be a very uninviting person. She is a bit cold and cynical, she's often quiet and not willing to talk much. But once you earn her trust, she'll freely share what's on her mind!

Sorrel and Emaeh

I think the two of them would have quite a bit of fun going on little adventures and just generally being curious about things. Emaeh is chill enough to just go along with whatever Sorrel wants to do. Emaeh would probably look like she was hating everything, but that's just her face.

Ernie and Emaeh

With both of them being cynical, they would either get along great or horribly. There will be no in-between. Emaeh prefers a little action or just chaos in her life, whereas Ernie seems pretty chill. I could see them more getting along begrudgingly, but I think their interests/lifestyles differ enough that they wouldn't really have much to talk about.
