Jensen's been getting a lot of attention and promotion recently (more than he ever got from the CW in 15 years of SPN tbh) and is causing quite a stir. If this continues and especially if season 3 of The Boys and his character is a success, Jensen will be much more in the public eye now than he was as a relatively unknown actor on a CW show in its 300th season. And he will have an entirely new group of people watching and following him, a group that I suspect skews much more towards heterosexual men (and to a certain extent also possibly homophobic men) than the SPN fandom does.

So I've been thinking, maybe the lack of interaction between Misha and Jensen recently (like Misha completely ignoring the workout and the suit reveal even though he was online, or their Gish zoom call which imo was pretty tame and toned down from Jensen's side apart from the babe slip up (most of the other cockles bits came from Misha this time)) is on purpose? Maybe Jensen doesn't want the gay/cockles rumors to follow him into this new era of his life, maybe he still thinks he has a shot at Hollywood and doesn't want that ruined? Jensen missed out on so many opportunities due to SPN (a role in Deadpool, other roles in Marvel movies, even 50 shades of grey lol - and those are just the ones he mentioned/we know about) and I do suspect he regrets that at least a little. Maybe he/they are dialing it down on purpose for that reason, going back into the closet a little more so to speak? It would make me sad, but this happens all the time with actors who were previously relatively out when they get a shot at "bigger things" and suddenly retreat further back into the closet. On the other hand, stuff like J*red's "yeah baby!!!" comment that he left on the suit reveal post doesn't exactly help with that either, so maybe I'm overthinking things. But I'm mentally preparing myself for much less cockles and adorable disaster bi Jensen content the more famous he becomes outside of SPN fandom now /sigh.

i hadn't thought about it like that, mostly because in my mind jackles never cared for fame all the much (because he chose to stick with spn for that long instead of accepting movie roles) but tbh i think you might be right. it kind of makes sense (unfortunately. because i hate this society and the fact that this is what is necessary).
