for dream theater i suggest starting with images and words, it has most of their iconic songs on there. notably it has metropolis pt i the miracle and the sleeper, which is like. THE dt song. and they made a sequel to the song which is a whole album (metropolis pt ii scenes from a memory), and it's meant to be a musical. if you like the concept/prog aspect of their songs i also suggest octavarium (the album). they're a prog metal band (:

for machine head i suggest starting with the blackening as it's a good middle ground for their styles over the years - older albums are more nu metal or rap metal, newer albums are more prog metal or heavy metal concept albums. they do make a lot of songs with heavy subjects (abuse, religion, drugs, violence, social justice) but it's heavily based on personal experience.

hi i see that you like metal. have you listened to dream theater or machine head before they are my faves and i love showing ppl them. i have spotify playlists with a good selection of their songs for beginners if you want. i am so autistic about these bands

i havent heard of them! im gonna check them out!! but sadly i do not use spotify aughhhh arghhhh you can recommend an album or something though
