Some headcanons of the Nektons family that I’ve been meaning to finish up, and finally got around to! I posted them to Ao3 as well, if anyone’s there as well. I usually post headcanons of a certain character by themself, but i couldn’t think of enough for a whole set, so there’s some of the whole family here, and some of the characters individually.

- After everything with the Monumentials is dealt with, Ant gets a tuxedo cat he affectionately names Buttons. Buttons is mostly black, with two little white ‘buttons’ and ‘gloves’, and she’s the sweetest cat ever. Ant insists that Buttons formal occupation as an ESA is entirely coincidental

- Kaiko played Dungeons and Dragons a bit as a kid and in college, but never found a group who wanted to play seriously. She still has all her old books, character sheets, and dice in a box in her and Will’s closet

- When Kaiko and Will were introducing each other to their parents, Kaiko’s parents were initially on the fence about Will. Meanwhile, Kathryn and Jacques immediately fell in love with Kaiko

- Kaiko had about a dozen different ‘pets’ growing up, some that were animals that her family were taking care of before they were released back to the wild. She was also the owner of a number of failed fosters

- Ant and Fontaine were both child leash toddlers. Fontaine grew out of needing it, but Ant would find new ways to slip out of his leash without either parent noticing

- Ant keeps forgetting that his name is actually ‘Antaeus’ because of how long he’s been going by ‘Ant’. When he does occasionally remember or get called Antaeus casually, he sits in silence for a few minutes having an existential crisis over it

- Ant and Kaiko both brush off minor illnesses like they’re nothing more than minor inconveniences. They do the same with injuries. When it becomes too much though, they both get super clingy and needy

- Will was an Egyptology kid, with the shiny gold book and all. He was also a magpie as a kid, attracted to all the shiny doo-dads and bobbles he’d find

- Ant wanted to be a Marine Biologist as a kid because of his mom and how much he loved the ocean, but as he got older he started leaning in a different direction with other animals as well. Eventually he landed on being an Animal Behaviorist

- Fontaine does NOT like snakes. At all. They gross her out so much

- Hide and seek is banned on the Aronnax, because the game takes way too long with how many hiding places there are on the submarine. Repeated incidents involving pingers as cheating, with all family members guilty of it, is another reason

- The World Oceans Authorities never stopped trying to rehire Kaiko after she left. When Ant grows up and starts looking for a job, they make it their mission to hire him. Ant makes a point to say no in the most elaborate way possible each time. Pyrosome cries herself to sleep about it sometimes

- After at least half of their late night missions, the family don’t even make it to their own bedrooms to sleep. Crashing in the Moon Pool happens often enough they store blankets and pillows in a closet

- There’s a board of ‘how many missions so and so has gone without needlessly risking their life’ in the lab. Ant has never made it to the double digits. Kaiko and Will are only slightly better. Fontaine is the only one who has made it relatively close to triple digits, and she feels ashamed every time she has to restart her clock

- Kaiko keeps a wall of shame and fame for all the animals she treats as a Marine Biologist, with their crimes listed beneath their photo. If she’s really annoyed with one of her family members, their photo makes it to the wall until they stop annoying her

- Kaiko and Will put child locks on Wills study when Ant and Fontaine were toddlers, and Kaiko has multiple videos of Will struggling to open his own safes and shelves during that time frame. Sometimes if she feels he’s spending too much time in the study, she’ll put them back on

- Ant and Fontaine had bells put on them when they first started being mobile as babies, as both would crawl off when their parents backs were turned for one second, and Kaiko and Will would have to madly dash through the Aronnax, listening for the jingling of a bell to find their baby

- Ant tried out Speech and Debate in high school, and was surprisingly really good at it. Kaiko was really proud

- Fontaine seems to make new friends almost everywhere the family goes, and she’s really good at remembering the names of all the people she meets

- Fontaine is really good at remembering specific dates, and here calendar is packed full of all sorts of important dates and events

biography.

andrew caruso-iannelli was born and raised in new york city. he's the son of renowned oscar winning film director anthony caruso & upper east side royalty priscilla caruso-iannelli, and the youngest of a whole bunch of brothers. he grew up hollywood famous ( a few small appearances in some of his father’s films and walking the red carpet at countless events alongside his family ) and upper east side rich ( private school, hamptons house, robust trust fund ).  

it was an open secret among their social circle that his family’s public image of being ‘ the perfect celebrity family ’ was just an act. behind closed doors there was a lot of tension, a mother who relentlessly attempted to push her sons into the spotlight, and a workaholic father who only ever had time to spare for his youngest son, his favorite. when he wasn't around ( somewhat often ) drew tended to slop through the cracks, and so from a young age he was relatively free to do as he pleased so long as he didn’t attract any negative attention to himself. no one cared if he was out all night long at a horror movie marathon, or if he inexplicably acquired a pet tarantula, or if he spent three straight days drawing alone in his room because he kept up his grades, stayed out of the way, and didn’t land the family name on the front cover of gossip rags. 

the youngest, often - forgotten child of the bunch did not make friends with ease while growing up. he actually got picked on a lot throughout his school years, although this never really bothered him much as horror movies and creating art held most of his attention through the majority of his school years.

natural talent supplemented by constant practice ( and very expensive art classes ) and combined with his love of horror led to drew creating comics based on his favorite horror tropes & fully written and illustrated by him beginning when he was a teenager. his first few comics were … kinda terrible, in hindsight, but still good enough to impress the rhode island school of design, also known as RISD where he would enroll in their illustration program. he looked forward to leaving home more and more with each passing day as his familial relationships never improved.

by the time he was about halfway through art school, no one in his immediate family was living together or on speaking terms with one another. much to the horror of his mother's upper east side compatriots, his parents even got divorced. his mom kept the brownstone in manhattan and scrambled to rebuild her reputation while his dad moved across the country to los angeles where he still lives while working on his various movie projects. drew tried to stay with him during his longer breaks from school, but he's a new yorker at heart. he stays in a property owned by his grandfather whenever he's in manhattan.

every single one of drew’s brothers is pretty famous now ( probably actors in big name productions like marvel movies and starring in netflix shows ). he’s the only one that enrolled in college and chose to gradually step away from the spotlight as he grew up. he hasn’t spoken to any of them in years and has no plans to reach out any time soon. he carries a lot of resentment towards all of them due to feeling that they abandoned him, which is something he plans to unpack around,  saaaaaay, never.

drew got a publishing deal for his graphic novel series before he had even graduated art school. he’s aware that his ( real ) last name probably had something to do with how it was pretty much handed to him, but it’s also a fact that one of his art school instructors shared his work with friends in the publishing business which is what sparked initial interest in his creations.

his debut graphic novel titled drive - in was released under his pen name of drew crane in early fall 2023 and was an instant success. the love letter to his beloved slasher flicks is about an undead drive - in movie theater employee embarking on a bloody rampage at his old job. it currently remains at the very top of bestseller lists all over the world.

since he owns the rights to his work, drew was able to almost immediately begin planning a movie adaptation. certain that he wanted to direct and author the screenplay himself, drew shadowed his father for about eight months in order to learn from him, which of course is very nepo baby of drew. he would agree with that himself, but he isn't familiar with the term. some controversy was caused recently when an interview clip of him was pulled out of context and went viral. the journalist asks him flat out how he feels about being a nepo baby and he appears confused but still responds that he doesn't think he is. the interview just went downhill from there and even ended a few minutes early. drew was upset and confused. he still is. the full thing was posted online a few weeks ago, which is when the controversy and ridicule kicked off. he's still a target on the internet and he's worried that the plans for his movie are going to crash and burn any second.

he's in chile for the first time to visit his partner ( luna ) and unplug for a while. he currently doesn't plan to stay, but as we all know that's going to change !

hiya! gil has a lot of pets throughout the show, like Hank, and at least one spider, and his cockroaches and some other bugs (and the foetal pig, which i personally choose to count. i bet he talks to it.) i was wondering if you or anyone else knew an approximate list of them, more so his bugs than anything else.

in one of the episodes (i think its post grissom) nick and greg find a tarantula and greg is pleased to note that its an old friend "hey thats little stevie! he's been missing for years!" i wonder if stevie was ever mentioned by name or if any of gil's other bugs were?

so here's the thing: despite knowing grissom is something of an animal lover, we actually learn very little about what pets he has over the course of the show. basically the only two named ones we ever hear about are, as you mention, hank the dog and stevie the tarantula.

and, for the record, stevie had never been mentioned prior to the events of episode 10x01 "family affair."

while we know that at any given time, he has a "menagerie" of insects otherwise, seldom are they identified by species, and never are they referred to by specific names.

that so, the best "census" of his animals i can offer is as follows:

of course, he has his irradiated fetal pig (occasionally referred to as "miss piggy," though it's unclear if that is her official name) from the beginning of the show.

he also, as mentioned, from s7 on, has hank (though it's unclear under what circumstances he got him and/or how he decided on the name).

then, in episode 01x22 "evaluation day," sara lists a litany of animals in his care, including a pet tarantula who may or may not be one and the same as "little stevie" (who, as stated, is never mentioned by name prior to s10) and a maggot farm. she also claims he has a komodo dragon on back order, but considering that they are an endangered species and also are not the type of animal that your average person can care for in their private home—they are about ten feet long, can weigh up to 200 lbs., can run up to 13 mph, feed on large game like water buffalo, and have a venomous bite that makes them dangerous to handle—she is probably either a) being facetious, or, b) confusing a komodo dragon with a monitor lizard. in either case, grissom doesn't seem to actually have either a dragon or a lizard in his possession at this time.

in episode 02x05 "scuba doobie-doo," he acquires a silphid beetle from the crime scene, which he refers to, in-episode, as "paul;" however, it is unclear both if he intends to keep the beetle in the long term as a pet and, if so, if paul is actually what he's named him.

in episode 02x10 "ellie," he owns about a dozen madagascar hissing cockroaches, which he intends to race at an entomology conference in duluth, mn. he mentions that his roaches' competitors have names (such as "cocky balboa" and "priscilla, queen of the gutters"), so it's probable that his roaches have names, too. however, if so, he never states what they are.

in episode 07x13 "redrum," he gifts sara the cocoon of an unknown moth or butterfly species, sent to her from walden pond. she elects to keep this cocoon in his office until it hatches. it is unknown a) what kind of insect is inside of the cocoon, b) what becomes of said insect after it hatches, and c) what, if anything, grissom and sara name it.

in csi: vegas episode 01x03 "under the skin," grissom states that hank was the best dog he ever had, which implies he has had other dogs in his life. however, it's uncertain when he had these dogs. it's possible he had childhood dogs and/or other dogs predating hank. it's also possible he had other dogs either concurrent to hank or after him from s9 onward, either with sara or without her. from the sounds of things, by the time the events of csi: vegas s1 are taking place, he and sara are (for the moment) dogless.

from s1-s9, grissom's office is filled with specimens of preserved lizards, amphibians, and fish in jars. however, we don't know if he also has any other living vertebrates as pets. if so, it might explain why sara is able to spend so much unsupervised time in his office during his s7 sabbatical without anyone on the team really batting an eye (as she could just use the ol' "i'm pet-sitting for grissom while he's away. somebody's got to feed his salamanders!" excuse). but certainly nothing is ever mentioned specifically.

to the best of my knowledge, those are the only pets of his we ever know about.

Welcome back to TJ’s craving content for a niche ship/fandom and only has enough energy for hcs: Blinkley (Daph/Velma) edition

This is going for “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?” (Velma being Jewish and Hispanic in this canon), “A Pup Named Scooby-Doo”, and “Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated” along with several movies. Currently watching “Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!” so if I reblog w more there will be some adding from there. If you write/draw any of these PLEASE ping me/rb this post bc I can’t get enough of them rn

V calls Daph looking to vent rq and realizes like half way through part of said vent has to do w her crush on Daph so she switches to Spanish and Daphne’s able to pick up some of it due to whatever French she knows and the similarities of Latin languages and she’s very confused when she repeats back what she could kind of understand and Velma is very embarrassed

for some particular reason Shaggy has to be somewhere Scooby can’t be and Velma is his go-to dog-sitter (based on APNSD The Computer Walks Among Us, “Please, Scooby—for me?” + she kissed his cheek, “Aww, I’d do anything for you, Velma.”) and I just very much like the mental image of Scooby curled up at her feet or something while Daph’s over and they all just watch a movie or smth

following “Moon Monster Madness” Daphne can’t sleep for the life of her bc she can’t stop thinking abt this interaction and she just has to call Velma, it’s 2:00 in the morning and to her it doesn’t matter bc she needs Velma to know that she matters so much more than what she thinks after she didn’t really get a chance to say so beforehand [EDIT: written now haha]

Daphne loves watching Velma work, especially her thinking faces and stimming

thinking abt Large Dragon at Large from WNSD and Velma’s COSTUME with her and Daphne talking abt it beforehand and V’s so embarrassed to show it to Daphne bc she thinks it’s ridiculous so then jokingly Daph keeps accusing her of picking something “scandalous” (“does it show too much of your shoulders or something ;)” “I hate you”) and because Daphne genuinely can’t think of another reason as to why Velma would be embarrassed to show it off she puts it on for Daphne and she thinks it’s literally the cutest thing ever

due to past issues of Men™️ they both have crazy low expectations of relationships when they start dating, like heartbreakingly low- Velma getting a bit emotional when Daph isn’t ashamed of her/their relationship or when she wants a day to the both of them rather than constantly including friends/avoiding alone time; Daphne tearing up when Velma’s interested in what she has to say and makes sure she knows her opinions are valid/acknowledged/cared for; and both of them are pleasantly surprised when they make equal effort rather than begging for the bare minimum

whenever they spend the night together + Velma’s up too late working too hard Daphne will pretend to be asleep and pull a cat-like move in the sense of being cuddly as inconveniently as possible, trying to “shift” to cover her papers or laptop with her arm or slowly try to cover Velma/her papers when on her computer so she could be bothered just enough to not actually be annoyed and enough to give up and go to bed

even if it’s not the greatest in the world, Daphne’s in love w Velma’s singing voice and always encourages any bit of confidence boost she gets

Daphne tries to remind Velma that she’s gorgeous and stunning in every way especially (not because of) knowing that she has a few issues with her body image + Daph just loves her sm

similar to the previous, Velma will often try to find ways to compliment Daphne that don’t involve her physical appearance to show that she sees/acknowledges more than that

Velma started crushing first—they were in early middle school, Daphne started having a phase of calling her friends pet names and Velma’s poor gay heart could not take that (totally not how I got my first crush what r u talking abt)

in middle/high school during lunch/recess, Daphne would often sit with Velma and read under a tree in comfortable silence or Velma would try to sit with Daphne and her friends (Daph enjoyed reading w V more than V enjoyed being w her clique + that is more than ok <3), though of course they’d have their separate times when they’d want to too

Daphne loves going to hockey games w V bc she thinks it’s the funniest thing seeing how hockey can get so violent so quick and how V is just all over that (she also just loves seeing Velma get excited abt things)

Daphne would watch Jack Stauber’s “Opal” day in and day out and Velma would happily watch along; Daphne more or less comforted in not being alone as a child of neglect, Velma nitpicking the art style and the metaphors and how absolutely genius work it is

Velma seems like a clarinet player to me (as a clarinet player myself oops) and I think Daphne would have a lot of fun on low brass even if her parents keep pushing her to do flute or piccolo or something on top of piano and/or violin

I have more they’re just not in my phone so I’ll find them hopefully in the morning if not some other time😭😭😭😭 I wrote them in a notebook for class in my senior year of high school (3 years ago) so I guess I’ll be on a mission to find this particular notebook bc I hardly used it for actual class stuff

Animal Regression: Dairy Cow

CG's: I have two cg’s both my partners! One is Mum and the other is Techie! Techie is an alter in Mum’s system, and Mum is only my Mum in a certain fictionkin shift (Erin from You’re Next)! But I also consider Zoroark from Pokemon as a mother figure too!

Important Info: I'm physically disabled and have been since I was born. I don't mind talking about that though. Because of my disability I spent a good chunk of time in hospitals after surgeries. I find hospitals comforting, so medcore things will be on this blog.

I've also had anger issues since I was a kid. So tantrums, yelling and being angry was what I was like as a kid. And while I don't think I'll make that many posts of my own it's important that I don't hide those things from people. If you know Muffin from Bluey I basically would act like that if I didn't hide that part of myself because I don't want to frustrate another parental figure and make their lives harder like I did my actual parents. Hate rules and following them.

I've started having memory problems recently. Because of this, when I list my favorite things I won't just list 2 or 3, I'll list all of them because I don't want to forget them. I'll put the long list of favorite things at the end so that I can just update it as I feel like it.

List Of Favorite Things (As A Kid) Animals: Bats are my all time favorite animal and always have been. Along with them I like snakes, tasmanian devils, komodo dragons, alligators, and crocodiles. But as my blog name is all-around-animal-kid, I like all animals.

you know. My first instinct is to reply to this in a jokey memey fun way, because The High Geologist is a fun jokey meme.

But it's pride month so I wanna get into it a little bit. When I drew him, I wasn't thinking about ace stuff at all. The geode halo is an amethyst and they just happen to resemble the ace flag. Some people spotted it and celebrated it, so I quickly made it canon, to accept, celebrate, and validate ace people. At the time of the meme, I identified as allo and considered myself an ally to the ace community; so please consider him as representation from a content creator who isn't part of the people they portray. This is very important to me because I don't want people to think I only did it because "I am or have a friend/family member/etc who is ace and that's why I care"

You don't need any of that to care. You just need to be a decent person who listens when people talk.

The high geologist is really important to me as an ace icon because it's one of those characters whose sexuality is just one of many distinct and wonderful traits they have.

Some people make their sexual or romantic orientation, gender identity, allo-ace spectrum label, mono/polyamorous preference, or any other queer label into a huge part of their identities. This is absolutely awesome and I love these people with all my heart. Many of my ocs are like this.

Other people have their queerness exist alongside or behind all their other traits. The High Geologist is: A centaur. A geologist. A powerful mage. A stoner. Shaggy from live action Scooby Doo. Asexual.

This is important to me because it shows that Anyone can be ace. That while sometimes ace is a core part of ones identity, it can Also just be a trait stuck onto an awesome person like every other trait that makes them who they are. I think that having this epic magical stoner centaur be ace is important to the ace kids out there who have a hard time finding explicitly ace rep that doesn't come with a whole bunch of baggage and personality changes attached to it.

He's just ace. It's not the most important thing about him (that would be his ability to name every stone,) it just Is. The high geologist happens to be vocal and proud about his sexuality, but if it was just another trait to him, that would be fine too.

I myself am Very very queer in many ways. My gender, sexuality, romantic orientation, ace-allo spectrum location, it's all queer. But I don't have that in my bio because it's not what I consider to be important about me.

The high geologist is many things. I want to make ace people happy when they see someone they share a trait with being awesome and proud of who he is. I want allo people to see asexuality that is just a trait added in to a bunch of other traits to make someone whole and complete.

Asexuality is a positive Thing. It's not a void. Adding it to a character makes them More complete, not less. The same goes for every other trait in the world. Even things like being cishet. If you're a good ally to cishet people, remember that it makes them a whole person and not more boring than others. Especially appreciate cishet people around us who have done questioning and put thought into discovering who they are because a journey is a journey no matter where your road leads, and the act of walking brings us closer.

10. What is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? the most beautiful thing I had ever seen was a coastline somewhere in Florida. I wanna say it was maybe Pensacola? The skies were clear and the moon was full. You could see a few stars in the sky and the beach was bathed in a silvery light. I had my headphones partly in listening to the album For Lovers by Lamp turned down low so I could also listen to waves coming in. The land breeze was strong that night but it was also pleasant. No one else was on the beach. It was just me and my thoughts. It was the first time I had ever really been allowed to just be by myself like this while on a family vacation. It gave me a taste of freedom and introspective. Part of what makes it so beautiful to me is this was the first moment that I had ever really considered myself and who I was, was I really happy with myself. I ended up accepting the fact that I was trans while I sat on the sand and just let myself be one with the beach. I entered the beach a boy, and left a woman.

What is the stupidest thing you've ever done? probably the time my cousin and I thought it would be a good idea to put yuca flour into our coke-guaraná mixture because both tasted good on their own so surely they would taste good together right? Wrong. It was bad, very bad. I almost choked on it.

12. Stupidest thing you've seen/heard someone else do/say? I work a sales job and Ive had a customer get very upset with me because I told him he needed a male/male hdmi cable to hook his laptop into his tv for video. He was upset that it was male/male and not female/male because "we dont do things like that in this country". He ended up not buying the cable because of it.

Share a weird fact/story about yourself with the class. I like to drive around rural areas and photograph old, sometimes abandoned locations in the dead of night. I have been literally chased out of towns by foot and by car on two separate occasions. The second time this happened, "See You Again" by Miley Cyrus came up on shuffle and that's the soundtrack my friend and I tore out of town to. Also every "guy" I've dated except for my most recent ex (who has big egg energy) is a lesbian now.

What is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? The appalachian mountains of Tennessee in the middle of summer. There's kudzu everywhere. On the backroads, there were several old, dilapidated Baptist churches barely hanging to the side of the mountain. I wonder how many of them were still in use.

What is the stupidest thing you've ever done? Short version: my friend's house almost got broken into by this dude who'd been stalking us for months while we were home alone. Instead of calling the cops, we decided to confront him with a bow and arrow (me), a hatchet, and a baseball bat (him). The plan was that if it went badly, we would simply throw his corpse into one of the many lakes in the neighborhood and let the alligators eat his remains (this was Florida). Why? Because we were afraid of having our home-alone privileges revoked. Luckily for us all, the guy fucked off and we never saw him again.

Bio:

When Aurélie was eight, the maths teacher at her foster home left a metal ruler in their classroom. Aurélie snuck it inside her jumper and used it to break into the office filing cabinets that night. With a torch held between her teeth like she’d seen in a spy book, she sorted through all the files until she found one with her own picture attached to it. That night, she found out she hadn’t been dropped on the doorstep in a very carefully constructed basket, but found by a landlord who’d overheard a screaming toddler and broken down the door of one of his tenants. She tore out the two flimsy pages that contained her entire life and took them outside to where it was raining and watched them dissolve in a puddle. The head matron scolded her when she ran back to bed and tracked mud into the girls dormitory. Aurélie spent the next two days in a daze, she’d never imagined that the taunting of the older kids to be true. That her parents really, truly, hadn’t wanted her. That the only true kindness she’d received were cold meals and hard beds and high, grey, concrete walls she sometimes imagined to be prison walls. She realised she would be the only constant thing in her life, the only thing she could control. She decided to start doing more to protect herself.

The Hogwarts letter that came in the mail for her that sunny day of her eleventh birthday is still her most prized possession. Not a single word on that bit of parchment made sense to her, but she waved it about and rubbed it in all of the other children’s faces. Her matrons were rightfully suspicious, and refused to send a child into the unknown. Two weeks after the term started, a woman in the strangest outfit Aurélie had even seen came knocking on their home’s door. And much to her glee, she was allowed to attend Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was still to return back to the institution every Christmas, but she was too thrilled to be wanted for once to even think about that. Her sorting ceremony was not as grand as she found it it normally was the year later, she sat in the entrance hall with three more oddly-clothed adults and let them place a raggedy hat atop her head. She almost screamed when it started to talk, crying some made up word “Ravenclaw!”

Aurélie wasn’t sure why she’d been sorted into the ‘smart house’. She did not consider herself to be intelligent, she only succeeded in her classes because of how much more enjoyable magical subjects were than muggle ones. This pure interest got her invited to a few end of year parties thrown for the top student from each class. All of these have now blurred together in her memory, except for the Charms dinner. The professor had drunk a little too much of his wine, and had started to tell her how much she looked like her mother. Aurélie sat there, frozen. She didn’t care to find out about her parents, she didn’t care for them at all. They did not deserve her as their legacy. So she stopped studying to excess. Did enough to simply pass her classes. She would not give those two cowards the satisfaction of a brilliant child.

In their final year of Hogwarts, her Defence Against the Dark Arts class took an excursion the the Ministry of Magic. Aurélie was a little disappointed by it, in her imagination it had been more… magical. She broke away from her school group and started to follow the witches and wizards walking so expertly around the confusing compound. She spotted one man in particular with an expensive looking watch hanging from his pocket, and followed him into a black-tiled corridor. She lagged behind him, far enough back that she could only just see where he next went. She followed him through a doorway and suddenly felt all the wind knock out of her body. Shelves upon shelves of eerie, pearly, glass orbs stared back at her. Every step she took echoed like thunder. She couldn’t hear the man’s. She built up to a run, trying to find any way out of this maze, tearing open the first door she found and throwing herself through it. The emptiness her ears had loathed so, vanished. Replaced immediately by a comforting, constant, hum. A milky, white, fabric-looking substance was flapping around a frame in the centre of this room. And no matter how badly she wanted to approach it, something deep in the pit of her stomach held her back. She stood and started for three hours, only interrupted by the man she’s followed with her professor close behind. She had dreams about that veil every night for the next year. Not nightmares or flashbacks, but the kind of dreams that made her wake with a start in the middle of the night. She wanted, more than anything, to work in that department.

She works as a detective, following up on calls and letters from the public on strange occurrences. Has re-hit her stride in studying, anything to get closer to that room she spent so many hours thinking about. She works closely with aurors for most cases, trying to make sense of the nonsensical.

She the war is just an ego thing, the wrong people fighting for the wrong reasons. Why bother when there are far more pressing matters at hand? When there were rooms and rooms full of unexplainable things in the very Ministry. She does not it expect it to just blow over, she knows the fools in charge have raised the stakes far too high for it to end easily. She is neutral. It would take a miracle for that to change.
