asfasdf sorry to de-rail your ask but i want to talk about if i recommend DP or not to a new audience. my answer is: Maybe? a cautious maybe. before i get into that, thank u for messaging Jevil Anon ^_^ and sorry I'm gonna answer the other part of this ask in a separate post

the show was made by famous asshat binch fartman who sucks so bad I'm not going to grace him with saying his actual name. a quick google search will get u knowledgeable on this clown's history.

that said, a show is never made by one single person, and I respect the hard work the rest of the show's crew did. the show has a surprisingly good story-lines and was my first introduction to a serious serialized action cartoon. (outside of digimon if that counts LOL) but of course that's pre-streaming, before serialization was taking as a viable medium for television, so even then there's an emphasis on status quo that's annoying.

the show has a lot of heart and charm. the plot threads don't always get fully developed or are taken as seriously as you'd want them to. the show has a very serious tonal issue, like it's always got to crack jokes or not take it as serious as the subject warrants. the show had potential and that's largely what the fandom latches onto. after 15-ish years of the show ending, the fandom has had it's own time to build it's own lore and community. (which has it's own host of problems, but I'm honestly not the most involved to give you a good report. all fandoms have their issues)

the biggest set back i can give to watching this show now is it's dated in some really, really shitty ways. it was the early 2000s. that doesn't excuse it, just gives context. there's some sexism, homophobia, ableism and other things that don't come to mind off the top of my head. most egregious was the "danny sneaks into the girl's locker room gag" (which makes me gag) and "danny's parents are convinced he's insane and literally torture him to get the crazy out." like. when i think of shitty those two things scream at me. i'm sure there's more shit too but it's been a few years.

i love this show, it has a huge nostalgic factor for me and i love love the concepts and again, the potential. and there is a lot of stuff in-show i feel is worth celebrating and enjoying but I will scream about all the bs the show had. i can't easily recommend the show cause of the huge amount of issues. the third season was so infamously bad the fandom out right rejects 90% of it, and the series finale was so bad almost everyone hates it's guts and considers it non-canon.
