Who do you think is the top?Fisk or Matt?

I don't typically have or talk about smutty headcanons, but this one is so surface level and constant for me, can confirm a preference. Haha.

It's Fisk. It's undeniably Fisk. By the power of size kink and control kink, it is Fisk. With other ships, I'll sometimes have switch headcanons, but for FiskMatt, I have trouble visualizing. Because it's Fisk. XD

The way he casually bench presses twice Matt's weight, the completely effortless way he picks Matt up or throws him around, oof.

And then I like dub/non-con scenarios on occasion. Not only does that not work for Matthew Michael Murdock, but for this as well, Fisk is just the perfect setup. All of his strength and power and penchant for working outside the law, he can do whatever he wants to Matt. (✿◡‿◡)

For the sillies, I'll add that the Daredevil series used their (only?) sex scene showing us in 2x05 that even Elektra tops Matt. And then his whole night with Jen in She-Hulk when he's not not into her size and strength. [insert "this boy is a bottom" gif]

BUT! I admit that all of this is just my personal preference. One of the reasons FiskMatt is otp for me is that they check all these boxes to be exactly what I want out of a ship. Someone else could get the exact opposite out of it though. Thus is fandom.

I am hella stuck in my ways here, but I'm not totally against imagining the alternative. I don't think I'd ever write it or anything (to be fair, I don't write any sex scenes), but thinking how Fisk does have this buried, fragile side of him that needs attention and needs taken care of, yeah, there's plenty of opening to write top Matt. Maybe he should also be the big spoon sometimes. ❤️

1. What is your favorite trope to write? I don't really know bc I rarely reason in tropes! Might be found family 💜 I'm not sure I've written it a lot, but I love it

3. What is the main program you use for writing (google docs, the ao3 writing text box, etc.)? I'm a basic Word girl!

5. The fic you’re most proud of writing? This is a hard question ç.ç Right now I'd say "Filling the voids" (Riempire i vuoti), I'm still not sure it makes sense for anyone that's not me, but I've wanted to write it for a loong time and I'm happy with it! (Also like every fic I've written with aspec rep!)

7. Favorite ship to write? Right now it's Matt/Nat! It changes with my obsessions 🫶

10. Best/funniest comment you’ve ever gotten on a fic? Okay but how can I pick? There's a few comments that come to mind. I'll mention one on the first fic I ever wrote about asexuality (Significa me/It means me) saying "if I were a teacher I'd read this in class", I was really touched. 🥹 Funniest comments, those ranting under my fics are pretty fun and always greatly appreciated!

13. Latest fic written/latest WIP? Okay, full disclosure: my latest wip is a crack fic I "have to" write because I lost a bet XD. It involves Matt exploring the magical world of Daredevil fanfictions, lol. That's my only current wip, I've got another idea but I didn't start writing it down yet. Latest written fic is a style exercise: one flashfic about Matt in first person pov, one flashfic about Elektra in second person pov, one about them both in third person pov. It was a fun experiment!

19. Have you ever created an OC for a fic? It says "fic", so I'm not going to count my original works. I created minor OCs when needed, but I don't think I ever built a complete character for a fic. I have explored characters who are names or little more in canon and built on them, but that's not really the same thing.

🧡 What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?

Well, I had an answer typed out but then I realized I need to save it for a different ask XD. So, I'll say that coffee theory from Good Omens. Nobody needed to chemically tamper with anybody's drink in final scene, and doing so would rob it of its emotional impact. The tragedy of Aziraphale choosing Heaven over being "us" with Crowley is that he did it of his own will, that he so woefully misunderstood the situation and their relationship and what the person he cares about most in the world really wanted. Anything less than that is just a silly mistake and wouldn't give us the pathos we need to sustain a third season.

💛 What is a popular ship you just can’t get behind, and why?

I feel like I've said Fratt before. Have I said it before? IDK I'm saying it again. Like, damn y'all make some fantastic art and the manga points are off the charts but it's not for me. I think it is usually because (from where I'm sitting) a lot of this ship is dependent on making Matt... well, the "uke" of the pair. I've seen way too much art of big cool guy Frank and small, delicate, "choir boy" Matt, like he doesn't beat up people on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I think the interactions between these two are interesting, but in a "co-workers who hate each other" kind of way. They're not kissing. XD

💖 What is your biggest unpopular opinion about a series?

It's fine that Our Flag Means Death ended after two seasons. It sucks that we didn't get the whole story as intended, but it still had an ending.

💔 If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?

Elektra. Actually, to be more to the point, I want to remove her entirely from the series, and carefully put her in some completely different series where she can be an independent character who exists on her own, instead of a weird romantic foil for Matt Murdock.

Daredevil season 2, episode 10 thoughts:

The people being drained of blood (and like...turned into some kind of zombies, it looks like at the end) is seriously creepy. This was not on my Daredevil bingo card, and I like the horror aesthetic of it all, but...yikes!

Was also not expecting the DA to get killed! Sheesh, the stakes just keep ramping up. I really liked that whole scene, though. It all just felt really well written, with at least a hint of the way things used to be between Matt, Foggy, and Karen. You know, until everything fell to pieces again :'(

Oh maaaaaan, another showdown between Matt and Fisk! That was such a tense scene, and I was especially nervous because I could tell Matt was not in a good head space going into such a confrontation (I mean, how could he be, considering all that's happened?). But it was really cool watching him playing up his blindness and pretending to be much weaker and less skilled with fighting than he really is, to deflect suspicion. (Though...now it looks like Fisk might be getting suspicious anyway, eek!)

Wow, Karen gets shot at, thrown to the floor, and someone shields her with his own body twice in one day. That's gotta be a record :/

This whole episode, my heart just ached for Matt. You know, I've talked before about how a lot of the problems he's facing in his life are of his own making, and I still think that, but that doesn't mean he's not caught in a really crappy catch-22. He can't just sit back and do nothing, he has to protect the people he cares about, but when he does that the only way he knows how, the people he cares about get hurt anyway, and so the only path forward he can see is being alone, but how miserable is that! Claire made some really good points, particularly about how he's going to lose touch with the world he wants to protect if he stops interacting with it, and I wish he'd listen to her. But I understand why he simply can't hear her right now. Ugh, I'm really scared for where this is going.

Lol, is Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 the only music Fisk even knows? XD

I'm also chortling over the similarity between Fisk beginning to suspect Matt's secret identity when he feels his torn lip, and how MJ begins to suspect Peter's secret identity in the first Tobey MacGuire Spider-Man movie when she kisses him and realizes she's kissed him before XD

Aw, man, we were almost rid of Elektra, but now she's going to stick around! Why'd you have to try to kill her, Stick? :/

clementine everett ( the walking dead game ) + lisa-marie andrews: gun toting small child with a toddler strapped to her back ( or not if i write her post being kicked out of a group that keeps said toddler from her ) meeting a mother who is searching for her children? well. here's two free children. clementine is kind of feral, though.

elektra natchios ( marvel ) + deacon frost: resurrected ex assassin who has a connection to a demon in another universe who she may end up the host of ( me mixing netflix mcu and comic canon ) running into a vampire who is the host of a vampire god? there's potential.

daphne blake ( scooby doo ) + lydia deetz: here me out. they both have an affinity for seeing ghosts. daphne just uses her powers to help her friends solve mysteries. mainly, they involve idiots in masks committing crimes. sometimes, they're actually monsters. like herself. and the rest of the scooby gang.

Stex Appreciation Month: CB!

Can’t trust anyone these days, remember I can face both ways!

Ah yes, my url’s namesake, i finally had time to finish and post something lol i’ll post the others soon

Questions answered under the cut! This is extra long because he is my Fave and im Biased 

Fave song: There’s Me hands down, the whole scene including That Was Unfair is just so good in establishing CB’s, Greaseball and Dinah’s characters so well, plus the melody is just*chef’s kiss* and the fact that its technically a villain song?? Love that, plus the parallels of him finding Dinah alone and upset and comforting and supporting her and lending her a hand up and sending her on her way after she’s cheered up, with post race 3 where he’s the reason Rusty’s alone and hurt on the floor, kicking him when he tries to get up (looking at you 1991 boot) and mocks and insults him, leaving him alone with his confidence broken as he leaves laughing. What an absolute bastard!! But when There’s Me is taken out, you don’t properly see his two sides, both the bad and good sides are important to his character! He’s a contrary dude but that’s just him! Plus the actual song has one of my fave melodies of the show, I can and do listen to the intro from the ost on repeat, plus that lil bit in the japan vid?? So cute?? And the contrasting styles to that and Wide Smile?? Amazing, love it

Fave actor: Once again my fave actor list is gonna be like 5 people lol, the great thing about C.B’s material is that his attitude and demeanour can change based on his inflection, movement etc so! Michael Staniforth is a given, his Wide Smile really demonstrates his range which imo not many others have been quite as good, plus what extremely little footage and photos there are of him he was extremely expressive and just fun to watch! I’ll also go with Peter Rees, Andrew Prosser, Hans Johansson, Oliver Rhoe Thornton (and what the heck let’s also go for early Kapa Kitchen and Daniel Ellison)

Fave ship: Ohh boy this is super self indulgent but CBGB honestly (has the fandom given it a nickname? Greaseboose?? idk) I love that in the older scripts him and GB high five (that us boot where cb does a lil jump to hit GB’s high five?? Adorable) and actually talk like friends?? Like Greaseball is a jerk to pretty much everyone and for him to be friendly with him is just sweet. Not to mention its Greaseball who tells his gang that CB’s a “mean machine”, is always calling out to CB in the races and a recent thing that clicked in my brain is that when CB says “what a race, what a team!” and GB’s like “shhh! ohhh you mean me and dinah?” like did he just think that CB was about to out that they were working together during the race to crash the other engines in front of Dinah so he shushed him, then realised he was talking about GB and Dinah?? then just the whole exchange after sabotaging Rusty?? Duet One Rock and Roll? That GB just lifts him up like its nothing then they just kinda sit on eachother?? Those two are in cahoots I tell you!! Plus to me i get the vibe that they’ve been working together for years?? I just love their dynamic haha (and CB’s the only one i think who calls him GB that’s so cute) oh and platonic CB/Dinah is top tier, I feel like Dinah’s a very emotionally honest person so CB would feel like he could actually trust her?? And thanks to the new megamix Canoose/Elektra can have one right, as a treat

Fave thing about him: His independence! All the other characters are very much driven by either winning the races or finding love (or both), and C.B. just...doesn’t care. What you “are” is a big deal in Stex, like the engines, coaches and freight all have their identities shaped by their titles, and that can influence how they feel about the above two subjects “nobody can do it like a steam train”, etc and looking at when C.B. does participate in the races him and his partner tend to take the lead so he is good at racing!! But he chooses not to in order to make his own fun (at the expense of pretty much everyone else). He also seems to have a level of self-awareness, take his verse in Freight for example, he knows that as a brakevan he has to essentially serve the freight train, perceptually at the back of the train. But instead he uses his “purpose” aka his brakes to not do what he’s been told and to disrupt the train, and gets away with it by presenting himself as the innocent helpful brakevan! He’s just doing his own thing, (poor Rusty but,,) good for him!! And of course I have to say again, his two sides, and the ambiguity of it?? Like is he good, bad?? He’s both and neither?? An absolute force of chaos, but it only really works when both sides are present. Plus he a cutie tehe

Random headcanon: I think he’s unnervingly observant, even moreso than Pearl, and has amazing peripheral vision. That and taking notice of things like vibrations on the rails he’s very good at telling whose around before they’ve fully come into vision. He’s always watching everything around him, and isn’t necessarily being creepy, he’s just trying to get as much info on the current situation as possible. I think he likes to have some control and be on top of things?? I also really like the ex-boxcar theory (I first saw this theory on the old bellesdomain forums, rip) and I think that maybe when he was converted it was very difficult for him, having to deal with people, and having the CB radio to control what he hears helps ground him and keep his thoughts less cluttered?? He might’ve also forgotten a lot of his boxcar days, so when he says “you know I’m to blame but you don’t know my name” maybe he doesn’t even remember his original name?? And never got a new one as just the Red Caboose, so he clung onto the CB radio to give himself a sense of identity when his previous identity was stripped from him?? IDK

Unpopular opinion: This wagon can hold so many spicy takes he’s not a murderer lol but at the same time i can see where people can think that considering the lyrics reference several real-life train crashes even if they don’t make sense for CB to be there which tbh I put down to Stilgoe going tehe railway incident reference! I think he’s travelled around a lot and done a lot of questionable things, and maybe he was responsible for those crashes in the stex universe?? or maybe he’s just lying?? he’s definitely responsible for some shit, but considering he crashes 5 (!!!) engines during that one race night and being publicly humiliated after race 4 he doesn’t get in trouble and besides, all those engines are back for light at the end of the tunnel, they’re fine lol. Another thing is that I haaaate how CB has like no agency anymore in the current version like everything he does is for money, he’s basically a henchman for the engines (and everyone knows what his deal is and he isn’t in train jail?? what??) and they got rid of the pre-race 4 bit “just for me, I’m in this just for me” (in that slightly twisted there’s me melody) and Electra desperately pleading “help me caboose, help me caboose” to just the generic “I’ll help you win” at the end and not really its own little bit anymore like he barely has his own motivations anymore, it actually makes me really sad :( it really just doesn’t feel like CB anymore, though his character has been really disjointed since like 2007 when they got rid of there’s me. He’s just kinda bland now, like before he instigated a lot of the conflict, now others tell him to do something and he does it. I could like him more if he had an ounce more depth, like why is he so motivated by money? Maybe go into that old vs new tech theme and bring up that now that there’s new tech that can do the job of a brakevan he’s now antiquated and has to go into crime to get by?? Idk just please give me something, I think CB’s always been a bit of a fan favourite because he had multiple layers to his personality but new boose just has a whole lotta nothing :/ 

Anyway let’s end on a positive note at least we got pride lighting and a solo in the megamix so that’s something I guess XD

What types of fanworks do you create? I don't really do much, mostly fanarts. I want to write fics though but I'm not confident enough for it (who knows maybe someday i write sth and post it) I'm still improving my art and experiencing all kinds of styles to see where i come short. What do you like in particular about this fandom? I like how supportive everyone are! It certainly feels like a big warm family that gathers together doing what they love! My main ship is Fratt (frank x matt) but i enjoy other ships like Kastle (karen x frank), Karedevil (karen x matt) and Darejones (matt x jessica) also I'm a big massive sucker for whump and hurt/comfort fics (my babies are all traumatized and need people to take care of them T___T)

Do you like participating in fan events? I used to just enjoy contents from events and not participating in anything but, I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone and trying to make arts for these! (Unfortunately I'm an introvert both online and irl :D)

What about your creating process? Music is always a big inspiration for me. Usually when i want to create sth i shuffle my spotify playlists to find a right song and while listening to it i draw and then slowly a character (or in some cases a story) comes to life. And yes my brain mostly works way past midnight when everything is quiet and people are asleep. As for the influence, every single piece of art i see is an inspiration for me :) (i know it sounds lame but it's true!)

Do you interact a lot with other fans? I'm kinda shy (kinda as in very very much) so no not that much but i truly do wanna :')

I'm in the Hannibal fandom and will graham might have a lot in common with the defenders :)) they are all heavily traumatized and were manipulated by people they trusted, also i think will's whump radar is on par with matt XD (they are also both human disasters!) Oh and Frank and Will would totally bond over stray dogs!! Hannibal on the other, not so much. Love his relationship with will though! Boy is obsessed with will and will is dumb enough to fall for him too(as the show perfectly said "can't live with him, can't live without him) kinda like matt and elektra now that i think about it!

Hmm... tough one. I don’t usually do a lot of crack, if that’s what’s meant by nutty?

The MCU RPC doesn’t seem to be a fan of group verses and majorly alternate universes, which is where most of the “nutty” stuff seems to happen. I haven’t had Elektra that long, so the nuttiest stuff has probably happened on other muses.

I’ve had a royalty verse in which my Katherine was married to a Prince who was in love with his sibling, so their marriage went unconsummated, and at the same time the Prince maintained his vow of fidelity, so nobody was getting any lmao. It was very fun to play her as a virgin and feeling undesired. I’ve been in a shapeshifter verse, and a verse with Salem witches paired with shapeshifting familiars (Katherine as the witch and Damon as her crow). I’ve played Rapunzel in a private group rp that was Game of Thrones style, and once we set all the characters up in an AU where they were all hallucinating being in high school together. She went from traumatized princess to orchestra nerd for those threads. That whole verse was pretty whimsical because every week or two we’d have different ‘situations’ like that prompting us.

I’m not sure I’ve answered the question but I feel I did my best? XD

Okay, finally answered this one. lol Didn’t meant to take so long with it.

1) when they first intrigued me

Naturally like Matt I was intrigued right away about Karen. I needed to know how she didn’t commit this murder that definitely looked like her doing even though you knew it couldn’t have been. Since Matt using his heightened listening could tell she was being sincere. He knew she was innocent. He then lets her stay at his apartment & there’s something really beautiful about how they put that scene together. I also noticed they had chemistry. I was ready to ship it if they went there.

2) when I started to ‘ship’ them (sometimes this is different if you think about it)

For the first season, I think it took til this moment to fully ship them because they didn’t always share as much screentime as you would have thought they would based on the pilot. When Claire came into the picture, it started to seem like that was the ship the show was pushing. I really liked Claire tbh, I just didn’t ship her with Matt because I didn’t feel the instant spark like I did with him & Karen. I liked that Karen showed up to his apartment in 1x11 & tried to get him to open up. It’s with this moment in 1x12 tho that my heart truly melted once again for them & I let myself ship it because Matt has a real moment where he’s opening up to Karen. And it just felt like, finally! Matt never opens up & he did here by choice. Big character growth moment for him.

3) when I knew they were OTP status (as in there was literally no other ship for them I would want)

To be honest, I knew it before this moment. I enjoyed their scene in 1x13. It felt like obvious foreshadowing that they were happening in S2 & I was totally ready for it. That all said, this scene made it clear that 1. Karen wanted Matt to realize that she’s not an idiot & knows there’s something going on with him & 2) that she was there for him if he needed her. Also aww that hug when she comes in. They’re still keeping things from each other (she almost told him about killing the guy!!) but they’re getting closer & she makes it clear she cares about him. I was so ready to see them get together soon.

4) Favorite quote

It had to be this quote. I just love this scene so much. Frank is all about the no bullshit about stuff, especially with Karen, which I love. He is such a Matt/Karen shipper. hehe

5) Favorite scene

A tie between their two big kiss scenes because omg. they were both just so well done. The first one in the rain is all sorts of sexy & you can just feel the sexual tension between them. When he trails his finger up her arm & you can tell she’s totally turned on in that moment & he hasn’t even kissed her yet! Honestly though, I can’t blame her. lol Also, she’s so adorable when she instantly agrees to go out to dinner with her. Girl had clearly been waiting for it. XD And their date kiss scene! Matt is so presh when he says he doesn’t want to go inside her apartment because he didn’t want to ruin a perfect evening since he tends to ruin things. Everything about that scene was just so adorable & gushworthy. I can’t. Their whole date was cute too.

6) Scene that made me cry/sad

I feel like I gotta mention their scene in 2x11 because while I do appreciate Matt showing Karen concern about being shot at & wanting her to be safe, I can’t help being like Karen thinking “Uh… where was this concern before? Oh, I forgot, we were too busy kissing Elektra’s ass.” (I’m sorry but the way they introduced her & onwards made it so I didn’t like her) Karen doesn’t always do things in a very level-headed way but him chastising her made me make a face. Since she only did cuz she had to try & cover for his ass not helping with the case. Him not caring enough is why Karen got so close to Frank tbh. I get why she told him that she wasn’t his to protect. That tension was rough to watch. That said, I do love angst & that scene certainly fit the bill. I realize by how I described this this should probably be under what made me angry since it did but it was also really sad to see them so distant. Also I didn’t really know what to put here. lol 

7) Scene(s) that pissed me off

Okay, scenes that piss me off are specifically in 2x08. I get it that Elektra got hurt (people who ship them I’m sure are gonna be like “Hey now! Don’t blame her!”) but the way Matt was progressively doing a shitty job as a lawyer & letting down both Foggy & Karen in the process makes it so I can’t be okay with Elektra entering his life again. Karen comes by his apartment to get him to come to court & who does she see in his bed? Elektra. We know it’s cuz she’s hurt but poor bb Karen sees this as her sorta boyfriend possibly cheating on her. I think she handled the situation with grace. It’s when we get at the courthouse & Matt pushes on a big show that ultimately loses Frank’s case by making him snap, that’s when things really blow up. And honestly? I don’t blame Karen or Foggy’s reaction. Yes, Frank is a criminal. He’s a killer. But they were trying to do what they felt was right & Matt basically didn’t give a shit until he made it about himself. The breakup felt justified.

8) Favorite underrated moment

I had actual underrated moments in mind like when they’re being all coupley & cute but couldn’t get the screencaps so I’m just gonna say this - Matt finally telling Karen that he was Daredevil feels like it’s something worth mentioning on here. He’s truly opening up to her in this moment by letting her know his secret. I still haven’t caught up w/ The Defenders stuff so I don’t know how things went down between them there but regardless this is still a big moment too.

Name a ship that most represents your type of ship.

Isabelle and Raphael from Shadowhunters, hands down. (Beware: this turned into a long post that talks at once about all my current -and some not-so-current- otps).

-LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. “Why are you helping me?” “I don’t know.” – Shadowhunters

Half my dash must be tiring of hearing this, but I adore this trope. I love how it moves things along: the character is already in love -automatically, the relationship goes into Intense™ territory, you get swept into its groove, whether you like it or not (another reason why these ships, when they raise hate, the RAISE hate xD). Emori and John in The 100, Matt ~sensing Elektra across the room in Daredevil, Wes seeing Rebecca for the first time in HTGAWM, Derek and Jesse in TSCC (I want to start re-watching that show soon so I have that ship very present *sniffs*), Bruce and Selina in Gotham (and IIRC, every BatCat adaptation worth something has this in some form -it is a MUST).

With Rizzy, like with other ships (Caroline and Klaus in TVD, Bellamy and Raven in The 100), it might not be literally at first sight, but the result is the same: they might know of each other, but it is the first time that they really MEET, that something HUGE happens (Raphael feeding on Isabelle, Klaus offering Caroline his blood, Bellamy and Raven’s first time), when you can feel it. I love these cases too, because it offers the possibility of including a messy history/start/etc. (something that you can see at various points of this list lol), while simultaneously giving me the opportunity of experiencing the LAFS moment on present time, instead of in flashbacks (Elektra and Matt) or references (Harvey and Scottie in Suits).

-UNPLANNED, UNFORESEEN, UNWITTING. “But it doesn’t make any sense, it came out of nowhere!!” – the fandom lol

This is somewhat related to the LAFS point, and a criticism I’ve seen time and again about more than one of those ships, but in this case is multiplied by a hundred xD 

And I wanted to make a separate point for this because, lbr -you rarely see this complaint (or at least not as generalized) when a PILOT ShowTP goes for LAFS. But that is something I love about these ships: it wasn’t in the original plan, there was no “build-up” that could have pointed at it, and it’s likely that the writing team behind it never had an inkling of the effects the ship could have on the writing. Some of my favourite cases are Bellamy and Raven, Caroline and Klaus, Bonnie and Kai, Emori and Murphy… these ships irremediably alter the foundations of their ‘verse, they re-shape the story. I love that something that came “out of nowhere” can have that effect. I love it. 

This meta by @candyumbrella does a great job explaining this (far better than I could, and besides, this post is already getting longer than I expected ^^), and it even does it through Isabelle and Raphael. Her Ted and Tobin’s posts in general have been illuminating wrt how tv writers work, and in relation to this post, I’m more aware now of what makes me ship certain things, why something that on paper should be appealing to me falls flat, etc. I’d recommend them all, but beware because they will take hours of your life XD

-STAR-CROSSED LOVERS. “If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it.” – Hamilton

Was there anyone who did not FREAK THE FUCK OUT with the “at the brink of war” line? Because I don’t believe them.

Look, it’s obvious. It’s cliché. I don’t care. I live for this trope. Allison and Scott from Teen Wolf was one my favourite instances of this trope (my bbys ;_;); it was one of the things that interested me of Allison/Derek too, as a crack ship; it was the whole premise of Still Star-Crossed and I’m not even gonna pretend I didn’t shamelessly enjoy every second. It was what instantly made Rosita/Waverly my OTP in Wynonna Earp, aka the most impossible out of all my rareships xD. Priya/Sierra and Tony/Victor in Dollhouse (I never know wtf to call the people on this show istg) had this element too, even if it was in a “us vs the world” sense, more than “we’re on different sides of a conflict way bigger than us and everything is stacked against us fuck” lol. Cassian and Jyn could go there too.

And obviously, Isabelle and Raphael as a ship have this written on its DNA, given how the ‘verse positions Shadowhunters and Downworlders. Outside the 219 scene (*_*), I think 213’s meeting in the alley managed to showcase it really well.

-EX-SOMETHING, EX-MAYBE, EX-ALMOST. “Well never be done with each other.” – Shadowhunters 

I loooooove exes. Actual exes, proto exes, centuries-old exes. Something I love even more is “bitter exes that still have a special connection no one else gets or beats” (Camille and Magnus, Carlos and Kisa on FDTD, Elektra and Matt, Harvey and Scottie -and on the bitterest, most fucked up side, with ships like Katherine and Stefan on TVD or Derek and Kate on Teen Wolf. I even consider Rosita and Waverly could belong here, idc if it was one simple kiss okay xD). Obviously Isabelle and Raphael aren’t bitter, but they might get there, if I’m lucky! A girl can dream! (weird thing to say about an otp? I don’t care xD)

And one thing that is significant of these types of ships, and obviously of Raphabelle, is that, whether they’re together or not (hell, Izzy and Raphael have never really “dated”), narratively speaking, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t make any difference. They’re still connected, one simple scene where they merely look at each other across a crowded room can resurrect the ship after years not even speaking to each other. Hell, with Caroline and Klaus it only took one phone call xD 

-CAN’T QUIT EACH OTHER. “I’m just asking for a little taste.” – Shadowhunters

I guess this relates somewhat to the previous point, but I wanted to reference the addiction plot because for me it isn’t a bug, it’s a feature xD I’ve seen people say things like “I know they started out as problematic™ with the addiction, but now that they’re over that, they could be a gr10 ship!!”, and fuck that¸ tbh xD They’re a great ship because of the addiction storyline. It adds this messed up layer of wonder, of doubt, over the ship that I love. And obviously, there’s the appeal of “we’re bad for each other but we can’t stay apart!!” angst. My lizard brain likey. And it’s definitely a huge part of the appeal of Matt and Elektra, BatCat in general…

-SHARING SECRETS. “Nobody knows. Except for you.” – Shadowhunters

Things like Isabelle admitting she doesn’t feel strong, Raphael revealing the story about her sister, Bellamy telling Raven about how he felt about his mother’s death, Harvey confessing about Mike’s fraud to Scottie even if he knows it won’t make any difference, or only being capable of admitting to her voluntarily that he’s seeing a therapist… That kind of thing gives me so much joy :D

And lbr, the “except for YOU” part? HUGE draw, yup.

Any shipper would know what I’m talking about. That moment where Isabelle leaves mid-conversation with Alec and Meliorn in 214 to go to Raphael, or when they talk at the end of 210, or when they talk in 219. Bellamy and Raven in 413, when he’s telling her how much they need her and everyone and everything else disappears of the room (that’s the scene referenced above lol), or when A.L.I.E. posses Raven, and despite everyone else being one room away without even a door separating them, this feeling of intimacy falls over the scene. Caroline and Klaus looking at each other when he appears during the graduation event in 423, Root and Shaw in PoI. Literally everything about Rizzy in 209.

This has been one of my favourite tropes for-fucking-ever, guys. I think my first experience with it was Blade? Or Angel and Buffy? I’d say Blade. In any case: it changed my fucking life. The fact that Rizzy includes it is the cherry on top of this beautiful ship-cake.

On another note: blood transfusions totally count xD Furiosa and Max come to mind, for example.

There are other things that add to the ship for me: Raphael’s aceness (I project a lot onto him even without it so), the weird catholic/heretic themes xD, how beautiful they look together (I once was accused of “only” liking them because they looked hot together, which. LOL at the only, given this post and every other I’ve written about them, but also. OFC I like that they look hot together. That’s not only a good thing, it’s an IMPORTANT thing, among other reasons, because if the writers like your ship, they will look hot together xD).

And it’s not that if it doesn’t have any of those I won’t like a ship XD; in fact, some of my biggest OTPs lack some or even most of these traits (Gabrielle and Xena, Brigan and Fire in the Seven Kingdoms Trilogy, Clark and Lois in some versions), or that there aren’t other romantic tropes I love that don’t fit Rizzy (the Unholy Matrimony trope is one of my favourites, for example), but well. I know what I’m about xD
