I'm super curious about your Kodai and Monoma post, may I have your thoughts on their friendship 🤲🏻
as u should expect, most of this is just headcanons based on assumptions that my big brain made since we know only the bare minimum about kodai:
kodai can’t stand monoma. or couldn’t stand monoma at first. i believe she manages to warm up to him eventually and starts liking him as much as he likes her, but his dramatics definitely rubbed her the wrong way.
honestly, i don’t think kodai minds being in class 1-a’s “shadow” that much. her personality doesn’t really do good with spotlight, anyway. monoma does though, and in her opinion, too much. she doesn’t understand monoma’s behaviour towards their schoolmates, and thinks its just rewarding their class with unwanted attention. which im pretty sure atleast half of class b thinks that, but she thinks it the most. kodai and monoma are on absurdly different levels when it comes to their view on fame and reputation.
oh yeah, their middle school lives were also drastically different. monoma being outcasted and undermined by the rest of his peers, while kodai basked in the limelight of people so much that they made a freaking fanclub for her (albeit she didn’t know). i love them they’re so different from each other they have nothing in common at this point
they both have concerningly blue eyes though, its scary ;; i blinded myself when coloring it in/j
what were we talking about again… oh yeah friendship.
kodai doesn’t want to admit she’s grown to like that guy. monoma boasts about it whenever its brought up. i imagine that they really start becoming somewhat friends during the play 1b did at the school festival. kodai finally sees monoma doing something he’s passionate about that isn’t shit talking 1-a, and he isn’t being an obnoxious ass about it. in fact, he looks elated to share his knowledge on theatrics, more glee than smug. its weird, she thinks, but she’s glad that he at least has other hobbies. monoma was more than happy to info dump on his fellow classmate that had no clue how stage play worked. he really did want to do more with kodai’s role in the play, but nothing went right when they did, so she kind of just stood there in the tower for a majority of the show. he’s dissatisfied at the lack of screen time she was given, but kodai was content with standing still like a mannequin. maybe they should make her a tree next time…
even after creating a bond, i doubt they understand each other in the slightest. that’s just how they are, judging each other for things that the other does because the thought of it is so alien to them. “agree to disagree” is how most of their conversations end. a mutual understanding that they just can’t understand eachother. only thing they really agree on is food, preferring sweet over salty. and even then, when monoma says “sweet”, he means cakes and desserts, when kodai says “sweet”, she means tomatoes and corn
also. monoma’s love language is physical affection. kodai is basically allergic to touch. they are a nightmare i hate them so much/j
