❝ Oh! but you're doing so much more now than just fixing my scarf! It's my treat - please? Besides they are cheaper to purchase in a set of two and I cant possibly eat both! ❞

Well, she could but she would just feel sick afterwards. Plus it was so rare for her to hang out with other girls her age as of late. So she selfishly wished to spend just a bit more time with this strange yet kind girl who had approached her. Plus the track back home was kind of long.

❝ Tohru - do you go to school around here? I don't think I have seen you before so we must go to different ones? ❞

It would make sense if that were the case. Then again she hasn't exactly been around long enough to make notice of any new transfers. However, if her uniform was anything to go by - she could make the educated guess that they attend different ones.

"ah, don't mention it," she says, offering a bright smile. "i'm just happy to help ! wouldn't want you getting a cold or anything, right?" she purses her lips in though for just a moment before she holds her hand out, only to take some of the bags from her. they didn't look particularly heavy, but there seemed to be quite a lot.

"here, let me help you. at least until we get a little closer to where you're going." she isn't taking any no's, already starting to move forward before she pauses. she has no idea where kagome is headed.

"oh ! i'm tohru — tohru honda !" she parts her lips to ask her something, but the offer of taiyaki has her raising her hands, shaking her head. "n-no, i possibly couldn't ! all i did was fix your scarf !"

Thinking a lot about KAGOME lately and how her interpretation on my blog is a bit different than canon. Long post as a warning.

She's a 15-year-old girl, canonically, and angry, especially at the start of the series. My kagome in particular feels rather resentful and burdened by the fact she now has to collect jewel fragments ( even if it was partly her fault. Since she didn't think the jewel would shatter ) and as a result, is a lot angrier and mouthy at the start. Yes, she is rude, she's kind of cold and resentful. Especially being saddled with somebody who genuinely seems to despise her for something beyond her control. All she wanted to do was go to school, get good grades, and get a good job at some point. Make her mother proud. Maybe get a partner down the line. Not this.

As the series goes on, she begins to adapt better, Accepting the reality she is traversing between times to save the butterfly effect she put into motion. As well as taking the time to genuinely learn about the past rather than taking it for granted. ( ie always gripping about missing modern technology and luxuries start to mellow out.) The more she learns about Kikyo she partly can't blame Inuyasha for despising her in the beginning. Hell, she despises her too and is resentful of her as well. Always being compared to her both physically, emotionally, and ability wise would be hard on any person. Especially a 15-year-old teenager who barely knows who she is as a person. She also grows to be resentful towards her initial treatment of Inuyasha and how reckless she was with the sacred beads of subjection. Half abusing the power when her anger overwhelmed her.

As a result, she begins to only use them when absolutely necessary instead of as a punishment. Learning along the way and not really expecting forgiveness from people she hurt with her bitter attitude at the start. She even begins to love the past and what is perceived as 'home' starts to blur a bit as this is set during a rather large fundamental development period for her. She's determined to not become bitter and malicious like Kikyo and let it ruin her. ( At least the current Kikyo we see in the show. ) As time goes on, she grows. Thanks to the people who surround her and the many harsh life lessons she learns along the way. Seeing people who have it significantly worse than her. At the start, she's a rude, short-fussed, and mouthy teenager who starts to grow more into a better version of herself. Even if it takes a lot of hard life lessons along the way.

Does she expect Inuyahsa to forgive her? No. Would she like him to like her even just as a friend? Yes. Does she try to make it up to him? Also yes. She also tries her darndest to make up to their other party members as well. Knowing she was sometimes out of line and childish. Delaying departing at the whims of her tantrums and leaving to go home when upset.

Words hit her like a ton of bricks the moment they left his lips. Was he sick? Was he dying? Normally he was only this soft when the world was ending, during the new moon, or one of them was on the verge of death. Yet it had never been that word. It had never words of love directed towards her so plainly spelled out. Inuyasha was a lot of things but he was a man who was more action-based than verbal. Yet she saw no ounce of deceit in golden eyes. Nor was he seeing her in her features, no, who he saw was Kagome. Her and her alone.

They were both subjected to this on and off again thing they had going on. Hurting one another and patching up the wounds. It was considerably worse when they first met and as the months ticked away their ability to communicate with each other got better. They managed to learn from each other. It was no longer bitterness from either side and their quarling became more playful banter. It helped she had taken the time to genuinely learn him and he to learn her. Over time . . . the truth was she fell so hard for this dumb arrogant man. She loved him in a way that transcended time and always led her right back to him. No matter what path she went it always led right back to his arms.

Kagome swallowed thickly. Her dumbfounded expression began to melt away to such a soft emotional gaze. She never once thought he would say it. She wasn't even sure if he loved her. So hearing the words she had craved - to know she meant as much to him as he did her - was a relief.

❝ I love you too . . . Inuaysha. ❞

An emotional bubbled-out laugh slipped past her. Tears pooling in the corner of blue-grey eyes. Home had long since stopped feeling like Tokyo or her bedroom. No home had begun to feel like him. In his arms, hearing his heartbeat. That cocky way he spoke and how much he worried for her. Home was Inuyasha - as scary as that thought was. It meant she was growing up too. Her family would always be home as well but this was a much different kind of home. It's love. Pure and complete love.

❝ I could never love anyone like I do you. I think . . . I was born to meet and love you. Silly right? but It's how I feel. I think given any chance I would find a way to you - because I love you, Inuyasha. ❞

❝ Why is everyone running - ? ❞

Blankets? Check. Drinks? Also, check. His favorite snacks and ramen? Tripple check.

❝ Alright! That should be everything. ❞

Hands clasped together a bit while gazing at the array of items. Having spread out soft blankets against the floor of the abandoned hut they took shelter in. Snacks and drinks from her time were collected into a neat pile having selected a variety of things for him to try. Inuyasha's favorites mixed new ones for him to try.

❝ Looks like we are all set. With this, we shouldn't need to leave for the night. ❞

The new moon was quickly approaching. The sun setting and basking the world in hues of pink, orange, and purple. Hopefully, tonight will be uneventful. The last few new moons had been - less than peaceful.

❝ Inuyasha! Stop sulking out there and get in here! ❞

It was just the two of them tonight. In an open field full of long swaying blades of grass with wildflowers peppering the area in hues of pinks. Thankfully it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet for his canine nose. Something she had learned to be attentive about over the time spent at one another's side. Not wanting him to suffer due to her chosen place to settle down for the night.

Star's twinkled overhead so vibrantly. Unobstructed by looming buildings or the neon signs that light the busy streets of Tokyo. While she had always been able to see the stars semi-okay from her home it had never been a view like this. It was one of the many things about the past that she found so breathtaking. Blue-gray eyes trained upwards towards the sky in gentle awe.

❝ It's beautiful- isn't it? ❞

Petal pink lips pulled into a soft content smile. Delicate digits curled around her own styrofoam cup of instant noodles which helped fight back the slight chill of the night. Even if it was slightly difficult due to the bandaids around her index and ring finger.

She turned her gaze away in favor of looking at a much more breathtaking view if you asked her. Admiring the way white long locks framed his face. Shoulder to should to keep warm.

Some random Kagome headcannons!

She smells of plum blossoms, water lotus, Japanese cedar wood, and white musk.

Her favorite color used to be blue. However, as of late it's been shifting to red and pink.

Her eyes are blue-grey like in the manga.

While Kagome doesn't enjoy fighting, she would never leave any of her companions to fight alone. Even if she is terrified. She would however like to possibly learn how to wield a sword or other weapons besides a bow and arrow. Mildly despising the association with it to kikyo.

While Kagome can be rather materialistic, she feels a bit awkward receiving a lot of gifts, especially from Hōjō, as his intentions are rather clear. She prefers practical gifts or small accessories, such as earrings, or hair bows. Something she can use.

Kagome isn't really used to how demons flirt. Especially since this can vary between demons. She's constantly confused by Koga trying to woo her over with hunted game. Which is his way of trying to prove 'I can provide for you' even if it did freak her out the first time he tossed a rabbit to her feet.

Blue-grey eyes were slightly crosseyed to try and focus on his face. Instead only seeing a blurry mix of white, tan, and gold.

A snicker slipped past her as she reached out to press her index finger against the tip of his nose. Lips curling in a grin as she leaned back a bit. Blinking as she tried to reset her vision and get a proper look at him. Not that she didn't enjoy him being so close it was just starting to hurt her eyes a bit. Instead of pushing him away, however, she reached her hand a bit farther to reach one of his puppy ears. Playfully rubbing the soft fur before going to itch behind it.

Life always tends to get in the way. Her trip home was only supposed to be a short one, go home to do her test, get a little studying done, do some shopping with friends, and come back to the past. The problem was she ended up falling rather ill. For once her being sick wasn't just an excuse her grandfather made up to explain her absence. Perhaps it was stress from everything that had happened lately or maybe she caught a cold from the past. Whatever it had been she had been sick for almost two weeks. Most of it was a complete blur spent in and out of feverish sleep.

It took even a few more days after that for her to fully recover and regain her energy. Her first thought however was him - was he okay - he must have been so worried. Did he come and check on her at all? Also what about the others? Hopefully, everyone was alright and in one piece. Once dressed and packed she bid farewell to her family - all still a little worried - before leaving her childhood home to head to the bones eater well. What she hadn't been expecting was to see him there.

Blue-grey eyes widened upon seeing white hair and those puppy ears she loved so much standing there waiting. Her lips parted a bit as her backpack slipped from her hands and thumped against the floor. If he said anything she didn't catch it. All she knew was how happy she was to see him. It felt like an eternity and yet no time at all. Her heart longed while her body recovered. Her feet moved before she could fully process anything else. Partically jumping to grip onto his shoulders.

❝ Inuyasha - you're here ! ❞

She breathed before pulling him down and pressed her lips against his. Kissing him adoringly with far more emotion than she had anticipated. Her own actions did not even seem to register just yet. Pulling back a few moments later with a breath.

❝ I missed you - Inuyasha ! ❞

❝ Excuse me - do you happen to know where I can find a map or something? This is my first time in this village and I'm a little turned around. ❞

Navigating her own - considerably smaller - village was a simple task. Having been born and raised in one of the lesser-known ninja villages scattered throughout the world. Her attire was a bit odd - wearing a miko garb rather than ninja attire.

Somebody is a bit too cheery despite having just been attacked. Yeah . . . she was a bit too used to that as well. Maybe she was getting a bit numb about it? It was kind of a lame way to get hurt too.

She's lost - again. This time she's pretty sure it's not her fault either. Nothing looked even remotely familiar to her . . . just where did she end up?

Too loud.

Oh how she understood that feeling far too well. Life lately seemed just so brutal - so noisy. Never a chance to rest. Naraku was hot on their heels and death was around every corridor. Not to mention the complicated mess with Kikyo. If all of this was confusing and noisy for her she could only imagine how it was for him. To be hunted down by his ex and the man who tried to kill him - yet succeeds in killing the revered miko. Only to be awoken by a woman who looked so eerily similar and gets thrust into an adventure neither asked for.

There was so much pain - too many reminders of his past. Never was there enough time for his heart to heal and move on completely. Yet he found solace in the woman he once despised to even look at. To see that familiar yet different face peering back at him. It was that way for her too. Whenever they were apart the world just felt so loud. Like a part of her was missing its other half. He was her other half.

Her lips pursed as she shifted to kneel down behind him where he sat. Arms wrapped around him in favor of tangling her fingers into the red garment he wore. Silver hair tickled her cheek as she pressed her face into his shoulder blade. Blue-grey eyes gazed upward at him the best she could from this angle.

❝ I know what you mean. Everything has been so complicated lately - ya know? It's not exactly like you ever get time to just process it all. ❞

Then again avoiding his feelings was InuYasha's specialty.

❝ Want to just run away from it all? Together? ❞

It's a half-joke. Knowing they don't have that luxury. Naraku would still chase them down for as long as they or he lived. However part of her was also serious.

❝ Just us - together. We can make our own place that isn't so loud. ❞

How long had he felt like that? How long had he felt trapped in this cycle of grief? The cycle of pain. He was so unbelievably used to being harmed. To never know a true day or rest. How long had he been struggling to just survive? It ached - it hurts to know even now he still felt like he was fighting.

❝ Inuyasha. ❞

Kagome breathed, stepping up behind him in favor of wrapping her petite arms around him. Gripping at the fire rat robe as she buried her face slightly into white hair. She wants to be that peace for him. Even if she knew her temper could get the better of her at times. All those arguments where they hurt each other. did she even have the right? Did she have the right to want to be that sense of peace for him? His home.

❝ You deserve that more than anyone, Inuyasha. Peace. I- ❞

Lips pursed tightly. Guilt swelling in her stomach. How selfish was she to wish for that? When he was hurting like this her mind was wandering to selfish hope that she could be that for him. Perhaps all she could do instead was try and support him the best she could.

❝ I want to help you find it. . . ❞
