Well-Versed
Lazarus of the Gods
post-antiquity; main verse; open Dionysus, mortal alias Dio Theoinos, is a public figure; he is sassy, sarcastic, caustic, flirtatious, and just a little bit dramatic. He runs the Vino Veritas Production Company, a well-known theatrical troupe performing on Broadway. He is primarily director and producer for the troupe. He is also an immortal god “playing human” for a while to unwind and enjoy the century.
The Cure to Madness
asia minor; antiquity i; selective This verse is pre-Bacchae and follows the events transpiring from the time Hera cursed Dionysus with madness until his triumphant return to Thrace. It features a predominantly mad, often inarticulate Dionysus. He tends towards more violent reactions.
The Storm Passed
greece; antiquity ii; selective This verse is mid- and post-Bacchaeand follows from Dionysus’ return to Greece through to Ariadne’s death, which I place at the beginning of the Roman Empire. Dionysus is more languid and relaxed, and tends towards gentler and more subdued reactions.
Divine Grievances
rome; antiquity iii; selective This verse is set after the death of Ariadne and follows Dionysus (or Bacchus) through the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Although he usually doesn’t show it, he is deep in mourning, and makes up for it with an excess of destructive and dangerous behaviors. He is erratic and prone to severe overreaction.
Amethyst Dayze
supernatural shop keeper/semi-psychic; paranormal investigator verse; open Dio Theoinos–semi-psychic, paranormal expert, sass-machine, new age pagan. The name is self-chosen, thanks. A little bit of dabbling in the mystic arts proved some small proficiency in them that Dio now scrapes by on for a living: cleansing houses, “reading fortunes,” banishing ghosts. Whatever pays the bills–as long as it’s a little creepy, count him in!
By Killing Men
fallen god; post-apocalyptic verse; open Olympus fell–and with it, the gods. Now founding the earthly society of New Olympia, the divine heirarchies are in an upheavel, and gods scramble to claim their own among the mortals littering the face of their Earth. Dionysus has done well for his part; but how long can a neutral party hold its tongue before action is forced upon it?
