She paused when she saw him suddenly jump- immediately she just... felt awful, she knew that jumpiness- it was the same kind she got when people tried to touch her hair, but he eased into it and even kissed her hand... and now she's practically hugging his head, resting her own on his.

"Sorry... sore spot? I didn't know, I'll remember for next time though..." She hums, sounding awfully upset, but she couldn't really kick herself for it... much as she really wanted too.

"The Illness wasn't caused by anything normal, Grim, I've been getting treatment for it, I promise."

Okay, he seemed to miss the part about the radiation poisoning. Good, he didn't need to worry more. "You do have a point, though... But I've only got so many days left here in Kanto, I can't be squandering them." She sighs, her face flushing at the pet name- Oh, Oh she liked that one, wildcard.

"And yeah, I wasn't coming here expecting a cakewalk by any means, but... to get screwed by the seed first- Leon!! Really?! Leon?! Galar champion Leon?!- And then fight like hell through the deadpool just to get smacked back down by the physical manifestation of my own hubris... It's almost poetic." She can't help but laugh, giving a delighted hum when he pulls her in close by the shoulder, resting her head on his chest.

"I'm glad... Just don't go betting all your money, I've been known to screw up a lot when people are gassing me up" She snickers, one last quip at her own expense as she reaches up to gently pull on the back of his neck, trying to press their foreheads together since kissing was out of the question.

On January 14 in the year of 2018, I began playing Pokemon Black. I played up until arriving at the third gym... and then didn’t pick it up again until late 2019. By continuing playing in my spare time, I finally beat it yesterday, so here is my traditional team post!

As usual, team stats and some general playthrough notes under the cut:

General Playthrough Notes:

In actual game time, it took me 23 hours and 17 minutes to beat the main game. Not bad!

Real talk though the initial reason I stopped playing for so long was because I got to Castelia City and it felt so much bigger than any other city in the pokemon games that I had ever been to, so I had no idea where to start exploring and just,,, didn’t. Plus soon after I got busy with Galaxies Above, but that was my initial reason for not wanting to play for so long.

Despite that I think this might be my favorite game from the main series! I love all the characters and pokemon and locations, and since picking it back up again I didn’t really have a part I strongly disliked, unlike in some other pokemon games I’ve played.

I went into the Elite Four with my party all at level 45, aside from a couple of them being at level 46. I knew this was under leveled but oh boy it turned out to be worse than I thought.

Beat the Elite Four Grimsley, Marshal, Caitlin, and then Shauntal. Grimsley turned out to be the hardest, and Caitlin was the easiest. Which is funny because originally I wanted to fight Caitlin first but my brother advised that she would be more difficult than I expected. She was not.

Named Reshiram Hearth! Caught them in a timer ball for the matching colors~ They helped so much against N and Ghetsis, so glad to have had them on board at the end.

N is probably one of my favorite pokemon npcs. Might actually be my favorite of all. I wanna hug him so much.

Those of you who are fans of my Gates to Infinity content with Team Impulse, this is technically the original Meeko! I absolutely consider him in GtI to be the “official” Meeko, but this was my first instance of having an oshawott in a pokemon game and naming him Meeko. This is also probably the only time I’ll draw him as a samurott.

I found most of the leveling to be pretty balanced! There were a few really easy gyms, but most offered at least a bit of a challenge.

That being said, I beat Burgh with Kenaku flinching his pokemon with bite and using sand attack, i.e with extreme luck and I regret nothing. It was her first fight and she proved right away how useful she would be and it was amazing.

The pansear I was given was named Saike, and when I had first started playing the game he was going to be a permanent team member, but when I started playing it again after that long hiatus I revised my plan and moved him to the pc. Sorry buddy, it was getting hard to carry you along with everyone else.

Really excited for the post game here!! Will probably continue playing Black in my spare time to hopefully complete the post game story and properly beat Alder and become the champion (because this doesn’t follow Kanto’s logic of beating the person who beat the champion to become the champion, apparently). Would love to catch some more legendaries, and also pick up those sweet post game tms that I couldn’t get before but really wanted for my team.

Grimsley would rather tell Molayne in person. And he likes coming up to the observatory. "Happy Birthday. I don't know you terribly well, but I'd like to. And you've always seemed like a good sort." He hands the young man a card, done up to look like an ace of spades playing card. He's included a gift card in this one, but the gambling man also hands him a silver-wrapped gift. Inside the box is a hoodie that's colored to resemble a Metagross with a yellow 'x' across the chest.

Mo can’t help but break into a wide grin. “Thank you, Grimsley.” He almost says “you, too”, but stops himself just in time. “I’d like to get to know you, too, if that’s okay.”

He’s surprised and a little bashful at how generous Grimsley’s being. As he opens the card, and then the gift box, he can’t help but feel a little flustered. “You really didn’t need to get this for me- thank you so much. It’s incredibly kind of you.” He especially loves the hoodie; it’s soft and beautifully designed.

When his friend departs, he’ll shower, then change out of yesterday’s clothes into a T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and – of course – the hoodie. It’s even softer when it’s on, and a smile spreads across his face.

Maybe this whole birthday thing is actually alright some years.

"Calm down there, tiger" She snorts, maybe she should hold off on telling him she's dating the man… one heart attacks enough for one day.

She then turns, giving a sharp whistle @wagerd 's way, beckoning him over with two fingers before putting her arm roughly around Giacomo's shoulders. "Grim! Come meet Paldeas resident dark type DJ! This is Giacomo, one of the Team Star bosses I told you about. Giacomo? Grimsley, you two got the Kingambit family in common last I checked!"

With that she took a small step back to watch the interaction play out, her pinky finger gently hooking Grimsley's for a second as she walked past him taking, a seat at the nearby table Giacomo had been sitting at.

He’s never been one for Valentine’s Day, so you can believe him when he says he’s trying. He slides over a box laced over with a ribbon. In it contains a silver brooche in the shape of a clodsire nestled on top of a kimono crafted with Alolan silk and linen. Nonchalantly shrugging, as if he isn’t riddled with nerves, he says, “The kimono’s just a suggestion. If you’re looking to come to Alola sometime—y’know. I can ah, get something else made if you don’t like it.”

She was... more or less speechless, the usually wise-cracking elite hushed as she looked over the gift in some awe, fingers gently carding through the fabric - like it would break if she wasn't careful with it. "Grim, I-... I don't know what to say, this is beautiful." She beams, crimson eyes alight with a fire when he mentioned Alola.

"You kidding?! Alola is my dream vacation, I've always wanted to go there!" She laughs, practically rocking in place as she pulled the brooch from the box and wound up sticking it on the strap of her suspenders- mainly so it didn't fall off and get lost.

"I wanna try this on now... D'you mind terribly? I've... Kinda wanted one of these for a really long time now and just... never found a place that sells or makes them."

Erving loops between Rika’s legs as soon as she caught sight of those familiar green locks. She wants attention! Grimsley arrives shortly after, almost puffed out because of how quick Erving is to move ahead of him. He sighs at the sign, faking a pout. “Oh, I’m jealous now.”

"Erviiing~!" She laughs, reaching down to pet her- well more like let her fingers roll along Ervings back as she snaked between her legs, patting her head when she came around the other side. "Oh please, Grim, Bappy loves you just as much as Erving loves me, so I call that even." She snorts, the Clodsire looking up at him and giving him the biggest damn smile he could muster.

basking in the mud appears his krookodile and her clodsire , causing quite a mess amongst themselves that would have grimsley screeching at anything risking to tarnish his clothes , yet it doesn't earn any response of the sort . rather , rika endures him kicking some of the mud her way in playful fun , smug written all over him . >:3

She’s in shock!! Grimsley playing in the mud finally?! Did she FINALLY break him down enough?! The mud splashes against her face and shoulder, arms coming up to defend herself as she laughed, and naturally its time to retaliate, crouching down and using her whole palm to throw mud back in his direction.

“Nahaha!! Oh you little-!”

He wasn't supposed to find her like this- Let alone find her mid fighting a Flutter mane, Kamina slashing at the ghost with increasing ferocity as it repeatedly tried to Iron head it, only for it to dive out of the way and attack it from behind.

"That things Fairy and ghost type, let Bisharp go nuts." She sighs, nursing the mystical fire burns she'd just acquired on her arm and face best she could while staying separate from the action.

“A friend of mine from Galar runs a rescue pokemon ranch and they found a Swampert they were caring for had a clutch, she gave me one of the eggs from it and it just hatched the other day.” She laughs, bringing the Mudkip back in close to her body and cradling it against her as one would an actual human baby, gently poking at its feet with her other hand.

“I don’t really remember the conversation that sparked it, but I know I had mentioned to her about wanting a Swampert super bad once- Seemed she’d remembered after all these years.”

She’s frozen when she sees his hand come up to touch at her hair, quickly reaching back to draw her ponytail to the front, as if to keep it away from him, but forcing herself to swallow down a whole bunch of fear real quick.

Stop letting your stupid trauma ruin all the good things you have, dammit���

“Mn- W-what brought this on?” She stammers, shivering a little bit as she clung to her ponytail, really making a concerted effort to be okay with him touching her hair.

"What? I thought you'd be good at games like this... Then again there are just some shuffles that are impossible, I swear, but... Start putting your cards away that you can, especially anything alone on a card stack." She hums, squinting at the screen, her finger hovering at his side as she was mentally searching for the next move that would benefit him most.
