just like i spoiled a lot of the #postwall project(s?), i'm doing a terrible job resisting the urge to not spoil the #cold boot au (first post), because i keep thinking in a nation-person resenting being one, and his past incarnation as well. doesn't actually believe in the unwritten rules of nation-people, and his state also not knowing about them does not help, at all (bosses/state will go from not trusting him, to making him their special boy, to not trusting him again and try to control every aspect of his life).

besides, as much as he starts as a terrified people pleaser—"literal" neurodivergent "minor", a "baby" country—he snaps at some point, and shows he does have a superiority complex that he was hiding, and that is more willing to fight than he looked like.

other random notes:

looks the same obviously, tries to use different hairstyles—very short during most of the g.dr, with hats, to often partially or entirely dyed, mohawk fade mullet... with hats or beanies during some meetings cuz all the govts hate his dyed hair.

more soft spoken (and not raspy), at first due being constantly nervious, and overall because he isn't as much of a yeller or quarrelsome, with a calmer demeanor even if still energetic.

has nightmares with gil's memories, thinks that he is somewhere doing it on purpose. he mixes the memories, so he can dream about the crusades, fritz and napoleonic wars, and word wars, back and forth.

afraid of the previous owner of the body "waking up" and erasing him. ro+bul will have to deal with him drunk and scared shitless.

finds tolys very atractive! but tolys doesn't like him (at least not at first), thinking in all the things gilbert did, and thinks [gd.r's human name] is ivan's flunkey/sycophant/minion etc. [name] in reality thinks himself smarter than ivan and, everybody else too.

feliks has so much mixed feelings. glad is not gilbert anymore, to deep down being sad over gil being gone. tries to be nice-ish with the new kid, struggles, and especially will during the first years.

hates being compared to gil, but the more angry he gets the more he is compared.

technically lud's younger brother... [name] being calmer than gil actually will unbalance their previous dynamic: lud has expectations, [name] doesn't know lud and understood him as the enemy for decades. they will clash for subtle reasons and for not so subtle reasons.

My brain: No, but here’s a Corporate AU Gil-galad x Reader where he’s the stressed CEO, and you’re his new assistant with literally zero corporate experience, yet somehow, through sheer luck, audacity, and a borderline feral sense of survival, you keep absolutely steamrolling through high-stakes meetings like it’s nothing.

Me: Okay, but—

Brain: Like, he hired you out of desperation because his last assistant quit after one too many “Your 3PM meeting was actually at 2PM” disasters, and HR was taking too long finding a replacement. You have chaotic girl math energy. He’s spending weeks strategizing a budget proposal, and you, a dumbass with no MBA, look at the numbers and go, "Why don’t you just cut the thing that costs too much?" And you’re right.

You’re completely unbothered by office politics. Gil-galad is used to dealing with rival CEOs, backstabbing execs, and power plays, but you? You’re just vibing. Some dude from legal tries to intimidate you, and you just go, "Oh, you think I know what I’m doing? Buddy, I don’t even know how I got here. Get in line."

You keep accidentally making him look brilliant. You say something offhandedly sarcastic in a meeting, and the board members think it’s some kind of genius new corporate strategy. Next thing you know, Gil-galad is getting praised for his “innovative and disruptive leadership.”

Hello! How do you think the Firsts’s childhoods affected them?

Angeal growing up poor

• So many things that people would think are mundane are luxuries to him, like having seconds at dinner, buying brand new clothes, or owning more than one pair of shoes. Even something as simple as leaving food on his plate is unthinkable to him. He finishes every last bite because wasting anything feels wrong.

• Shopping gives him anxiety. He still keeps a strict budget when shopping, calculating down to the last gil. If something goes over what he planned to spend, even if he has more than enough money to afford it, it stresses him out immensely.

• Angeal uses things far past the point they're supposed to be used. He'll use his toothbrushes until they hurt his gums. He drinks out of cups that are cracked. His boots are polished and mended until they're more patches than leather. He'd rather stitch than replace because replacing = money that he forgets he has now.

• He's been trained to live with the bare minimum, which means that even when he has everything he needs, he unconsciously neglects himself. Example: he'll not buy a new blanket but instead layer up and pretend the cold doesn't bother him at night.

Sephiroth being raised by Hojo

• He struggles with comfort and relaxation, having a hard time figuring out what's comfortable for him because his nervous system is completely mangled after years of being raised in high-stress environments. He never experienced comfort as a child, so he sees it as unnecessary, often neglecting his own needs. This can look like sleeping at his desk instead of a bed or skipping meals, unable to distinguish between what he needs and what he simply wants.

• He was taught to suppress his emotions more than anything, but when they finally surface, it's explosive. He'll go from calm and composed to sudden, overwhelming rage, depression, or emotional breakdowns without warning. When this happens, he isolates himself for hours or even days at a time, struggling to let Genesis or Angeal in to help him.

• Hojo drilled into him that failure equals weakness, and now Sephiroth is a perfectionist who doesn't see failure as an option. Everything he does must be executed perfectly, without hesitation. He's incredibly hard on himself, pushing his body and mind to the absolute extreme. Even when things are out of his control, he spirals into intense self-criticism and takes on blame that isn't his.

Genesis being neglected by his parents (hc)

• His parents weren't overtly cruel, but their disinterest was cruel to him. They were never present, both physically and mentally, and it left him feeling like an afterthought. Because of this he develops into a hyper-independent adult. Some call it being 'selfish', he calls it placing himself first. Some call it 'arrogance', he calls it knowing his worth because his parents never did.

• He's very talkative, loves conversations of any and all kind. His parents would often chastise him when he tried to talk about things he was passionate about, so now he has a deep fear that he's bothering people.

• That neglect shaped everything he became. He developed a flair for the dramatic and outbursts that draw attention to him because it was the only way to be seen. His parents were blind to his personality and detested his idiosyncrasies , so he learned to make himself impossible to ignore.

i loved galadriel's arc in s2, but not as much as in s1 and there are many different ways in which it could have been better.

i loved that she was shown to struggle with the denial of her taboo feelings for halbrand and with reconciling them with her hatred of sauron, now motivated even more to personally slay him. i loved how she was annoyed for not being in the leadership position instead of elrond, showcasing her ambition for power, leadership and personal persecution of sauron. i loved the battle, how she was the one to start fighting and did not stop fighting even tho sauron almost begged her to.

i agree with everyone that the dialogue was weak. however, i don't think it's really about the dialogue. i never believed galadriel would give in to evil!sauron (her willpower, pride and fear wouldn't allow it), but the temptation for power and the recognition of connection are there, so i wanted to see this crisis and angst displayed more intensely. i can forgive it, as it can be explained by galadriel setting her mind and spirit on blocking her personal emotions off and switching to the kill mode. but only if we see that personal, intimate struggle moving forward.

if she really overcame her interpersonal conflict with sauron and the darkness... it would simply be so out of character and inconsistent, that the only explanation would be that sauron really stole her soul and replaced her with a watered down galadriel who would give a lesser headache to elrond and gil-galad, lol.

first of all, there was no temptation in that battle, really. sauron didn't propose to her for the second time, he was set on breaking her down till she gave in to him (again, nenya=galadriel). yeah, he told her that the door was still open but he sought submission from her this time around (s1 finale was darkly romantic, s2 finale was darkly romantic too but even more so darkly erotic, if u know what i mean).

it doesn't make sense for galadriel to be devoted to and obsessed with slaying sauron for centuries only to get over it after battling him only once. it doesn't make sense for her interpersonal conflict to be resolved after the interaction where she emotionally closed herself off after the whole season of displaying the scandalous levels of mental illness and loser behavior over that man, lol.

i think what the majority of haladriels are discontent with, is this impersonal attitude galadriel had throughout the battle (save for a very impactful and significant reaction she had to halbrand, and other microexpressions). and i agree, i want her to scream at sauron for killing her brother, for betraying her, for deceiving her ("it was just an illusion" counts tho), not about the free peoples of the middle-earth.

but here is the thing. the reason why i feel uneasy about galadriel's attitude here, it that i'm anxious about the possibility that they won't get to come face to face in the future to have this sort personal of clash (fingers crossed 🤞 that the mind-palace is re-introduced in s3). but i do believe that it makes sense for galadriel to be closed off as a defense mechanism when she first saw sauron. he was changed, so she felt detached from this new form she wasn't adjusted to. it would make sense for her to "explode" emotionally only as the culmination of a slow realization that halbrand *is* sauron.

and as for the darkness, it would feel weird for her to be "healed" from her own darkness by the two men who kept lowkey "slutshaming" her.

now, there is a hope that they are going to *subvert* the viewer expectations and she is going to experience the effects of finally having touched the darkness, learning how to find the light even though there is the darkness in her. that would make for a far more interesting character journey than her not having to make decisions and mistakes bc she is an one-dimensional good girl.

as for the things i would have loved to have seen in s2:

galadriel being alienated and bullied as a child and only having finrod who understood her was hinted at in the beginning, but it would have been great if we had some more flashbacks expanding on this in s2. it would help the audiences to really sympathize with galadriel's obsession with revenge more.

and it would have been so cool to see the flashbacks into her quests and crusades, her knight adventures, how she actually started to *enjoy* fighting and power while the darkness crept into her heart, to the point it became part of her, to the point sauron became an intrinsic part of her identity. after all, she was so obsessed with the idea of slaying him that she turned her back on heaven, her home and risked literally everything for him.

and i mostly talk about galadriel/haladriel in this blog, but i have to say, im disappointed with the overall treatment of the female characters in this season. my third favorite character after gal/sau is miriel and i feel like she was sidelined in numenor plotline too. going into the sea was epic and showcased how worthy and dignified she is, and i absolutely adore her chivalric romance with elendil, but it still felt like they could have done much more with her, or at least given her a pov.

idk, i hope s3 improves these flaws of s2 and doesn't cater to the incels, but their loudness is worrisome.

A completely unexpected story popped into my head. And somehow it became about Gilbert's birthday. It all started with my determination to protect Liam Evans, and somehow Gilbert showed up. These are totally different games, but I don't control the boys in my head at all. Let's imagine that Belle has a good friend Liam whom she cares about as if he were her little brother. And Gil (I have no idea how) is pretty calm about it. And… yes, happy birthday, Gilly. I very much like you… in a way. @judesmoonbeauty thank you so much for the advice. It really helped. Around 850 words. Belle is not canonical. She looks more like Kate, even scarier. But she's still adorable dense, as always. There's nothing to warn about here, but it contains a lot of pretty obvious hints.

The birthday party is in full swing. It was my idea, but it took a while to convince Gilly to agree. He was determined to celebrate only with me. I told him many times that there are a lot of people who actually fond of him, and I wanted him to see for himself. So after a long and… passionate arguement… he agreed with two conditions: I won't leave his side, and he will make me a dress.

The delicious dinner was over, and the guests began to gather in the ballroom to dance. Acting as a hostess, I moved from guest to guest, making small talk. As promised, I didn't leave Gil's side. He didn't touch me, but at the same time he did. The pure black dress didn't look depressingly mourning because of the very beautiful decoration with lace and stones and at the same time reminds of his shining hair. Every caresing of the smooth and soft fabric reminds me of his touch. Every time I move, my skirt makes a rustling sound, reminding me of his breath on my skin. Am I too obsessed with him or... I looked at the man himself… or how wicked can one man be? He smiled brightly at me, as if he had read my mind. Of course he did.

Gilly was in an exceptionally good mood. He acted almost like a normal person, smiling when people wished him a happy birthday and even exchanging pleasantries with them. Laughter and chatter surrounded us like a cocoon. Every now and then I caught his eye on me. He looked very proud, as if I were his own handiwork. I still don't know what he was thinking, but if it makes him happy, I don't really care why.

Suddenly, a phrase uttered not far from us caught my attention. I looked at the man very sharply.

Did I hear you right? You just say you hate Liam Evans?

The guy who dared to say that looks at me a little surprised. But something in my gaze stopped him from answering. Without breaking eye contact, I said.

Gilbert, bunny, could you give me your gun?

Suddenly, all the conversations in the room stopped, as if someone had turned off all the sounds. And the extremely relaxed atmosphere was replaced by a very cold one. All eyes were on me. I was used to constant stares, mostly pitying ones, but this was something totally new. It's like I turned into a monster in front of their eyes. Now I think I understand what it's like to be Gilly.

And where's your?

I turned to Gil and met his red eye, which showed a slight surprise, as if he was asking: "Who are you, stranger?"

I forgot it in my room… as usual. But I really need it right now. Could you?

I held out my hand, and Gil put the gun in it with a slight smirk. I grabbed the gun more comfortably and was surprised how pleasantly it lay in my hand. I like its coolness and heaviness. Never thought that the day would come when I would like it. Undoubtedly Gilbert's influence.

And why do you need it so badly?

I turn my gaze to a very unpleasant creature. The man cringed from my gaze and looked around for help. But people started to move away from him, and soon he was surrounded by a rather large empty space. We are in the Obsidian after all. What did you expect, mister?

If someone says that they don't like little kitten Liam, it's not a person, but an insect. And I despise insects.

I pointed the gun at the guy, still not sure if I could pull the trigger. But rage took over all my senses, and it was very difficult to think straight.

I must admit, the sight of an angry little rabbit is extremely arousing.

I turned, and both the gun and the gaze shifted to Gil. The words came out before I could think them over.

Why is there so much hissing in my voice? Gil shifted his gaze from my eyes to the gun and back and inhail sharply, something very familiar and at the same time alien flared up in his ruby eye.

We're leaving.

He took me by the hand and led me to the exit. Immediately a free passage was created for us. People simply moved out of our way.

But I didn't kill...

Later. It can wait.

Behind me, I heard a squeal and a heavy thud, as if someone's body had fallen to the floor.

What a weakling! - I whispered with a hint of contempt.

His voice sounded like the roar of a tiger. Is he angry with me? I open my mouth, but instantly close it. I'm in a total loss. What happened? Gilly has never talked to me like that… Why now? Did I say something... wrong?

It was so sudden. Why did I even think that Gil would be into it? But the picture was so vivid that I couldn't resist writing it.

Questions for the descendants au (I’ve been hooked since I saw the name, I watched the movies so much when I was younger) are you going to be doing the classic au thing of just swapping out the characters? (Such as Pony replaces xyz, King Ben becomes zyx) Or are you going to just use the general premise, picking out new (or additional) villain parents?

Tying in, since the main group of the movies is a set of four, would you be keeping that and putting the other three of the Curtis gang somewhere else, like Uma’s group or something, or would you just expand the group of four to be seven and have Uma’s group be other characters (like Tim Shepard???)

okay wait now my brain’s spinning to the third movie, where they bring in the kids. We don’t really know any kid greasers, the youngest we know of are Two-bit’s sister, Pony, Curly, and Johnny. So if you kept more in line with the original movies plots you could have Darry, Soda, Two-bit, and Dally as a core four and they bring over Pony, Johnny, Curly, and Two’s sister later

Johnny is Evie (just...hear me out on this one okay I was struggling lol) (and also since Mala and Evie are best friends it seemed fitting)

Tim is Uma, Curly is Harry, Angela is Gil

Don't worry they're all siblings so there's no weird romance shit going on between Tim and Curly like there was between Uma and Harry

Also I know Angela as Gil isn't very fitting but we'll just...change Gil's personality I guess lol

And it would definitely be interesting in terms of the plot of the third movie!! Since the core 4 of descendants is now the whole 7 person gang I think that they would maybe just bring over other villain kids (I wish we heard about more younger people than just Two-Bit's sister so that there would be more outsiders character to work with here but I guess they could just be more random kids lol)

I'll be making another post soon enough going more into the characters, their relationships, and the plot that I'm thinking about, I just need to spend some time cooking it up lol

Descendants: Rise of Red was a time!!

I'm not as fond of this one as I was of the original trilogy (I miss the original VK gang), BUT some highlights (spoilers rampant):

Queen of Hearts dressed in the most insane rose dress with glittering red claws on every finger and three full dimensions of eye make-up: "My awful daughter, your outfit is so tacky, god, you're embarrassing me"

Red's mom is in charge of a brutal totalitarian regime, but Red rebels by uhhhh throwing paint on her mom's portrait

Red: "GOD I can't STAND my MOM I want to live my OWN LIFE I gotta GET OUT OF HERE" -- Honey YOUR MOM IS KILLING PEOPLE and you're just gonna DITCH Wonderland?? Fuck all your subjects I guess??

In the Wonderland car, the Queen isn't wearing her seatbelt but Red IS wearing her seatbelt--this franchise is really improving its bad person/good person seatbelt visual cues

Loved Chloe's design, loved her relationship with her parents, loved that she is so sparkly and sweet and also great at fencing. Characters learning to shift from a Lawful Good mindset to Neutral Good are my favorite. No notes, perfect character.

Also love that Chad was retconned into the Brandi Cinderella and Prince Charming family!! 10/10 for recreating the multiracial family from the Brandi movie AND, like the original, providing no explanation for how that happened.

Expanded DCU time hell yeah (Also, he's definitely a replacement for Gil/Gaston's son from the main trilogy; in that vein, I expect sweet and gently queer fanart of him and the Hook character, don't disappoint me tumblr)

Love that this movie further muddies the already muddy canon of the Descendants universe since here the original Disney stories never happen as implied in Descendants 1-3. The villain parents go from having their canon, Disney-compliant origin stories to being in a greaser gang together in high school.

OK so when the band started it was Arthur and Alistair, and it was just the two of them messing around bc one of their friends was getting rid of a drumset and Alistair begged his parents to let them take it, he would learn and stay in the garage. So eventually Art is playing guitar, and Ali is on drums and they approach the only person they know who plays bass, some kid named Lukas who was rlly into death metal but y'know they though "close enough to punk rock ig". And then a few weeks later Gilbert who was kinda friends and only knew where they lived cause him and Arthur had done a group project together at the beginning of the year, showed up with his keyboard and like just joined. Didn't even ask.

anyway a few months later they're discussing a name Arthur picks red coats and paints it on his jacket immediately to cement that The Redcoats Will Be The Name. And everyone just kinda goes with it, problem is, the more popular they get the more stuff like that he does. Art keeps making decision after decision without consulting anyone else. Eventually Alistair gets fed up and leaves, they replace him with a new drummer who's name not a single fan will remember because He wasn't the original drummer.

It was such a big deal that Arthur and Alistair didn't talk for years, eventually when Abby was born and Arthur left the band it fell apart. Because people always came to see Arthur, not Lukas, Gilbert, and drummer no.2. BB is a backup AI created by Sakura containing her feelings for Hakuno Kishinami. During the preliminaries, she, who had her freedom unleashed by the hands of Kiara Sessyoin, could not control that abnormal status and caused an overload. Because the NPCs cannot do anything but routine work, they ignored Sakura who began to disintegrate as something "nonexistent" and since the Moon Cell's check was performed only at the end of the day during the preliminaries, Sakura was in a crisis of being extinguished. Upon laying his/her eyes on such abnormality, Hakuno called out for her saying "Are you all right?" By receiving the observation from another that "I'm right here", Sakura recovered her unconsciousness that was on the verge of being extinguished and acquired a clear ego of "I want to be here" due to the subsequent nursing. She escaped from the extinguishing of her ego.

Chara, also known as the fallen human, is the first human to fall into the Underground. Chara is their "true name" on the naming screen, though their name typically varies on what the player enters. They are distinct from the eighth fallen human, who is the protagonist of Undertale. Their primary role is in the backstory of the Dreemurr family, though they also appear at the end of the Genocide Route to erase the world. Both of these make them a major character in Undertale. Chara can be first seen during the introduction scene of Undertale, climbing Mt. Ebott, tripping over a root and falling into the Ruins. During the fight against Asriel, a continuation of this scene can be seen, where Asriel helps Chara lift themself up after the fall after hearing their call for help, and takes them to his parents.Chara was taken in by Toriel and Asgore as a second child and was treated with respect equal to their biological son. Chara and Asriel became not only siblings, but also best friends, and monsters spoke of how Chara filled the Underground with hope.

While both BB and Chara(Undertale) give off an evil inclination, she is described as "not as bad a person as she seems"; at worst, she has good intentions which accidentally create more problems than they fix. She claims that this is why she has Chaotic Good as her alignment, because she does evil things to ensure a good outcome. BB frequently claims that she hates humans, but when pressed she admits that as an AI she cannot help but admire her creators and genuinely wants to help them succeed; secretly, she also considers helping human. The same way for Chara as well, even Chara hates Humans but you can see in True Pacifist Route, that Chara comes to help Frisk but in Genocide Route you make Chara remember why she hates humans that's why Chara never hesitate to kill and hunt you in the end of Genocide Route. Chara and BB share the same personality.

A wicked and cute little devil heroine who throws humanity into confusion. Even if she flubs her condescending manners and speeches, both BB and Chara(Undertale) are a wire pulling girl who plunges forward as she is. Her main personality points are introverted, confident and active.(Like Chara want to stay with Asriel and never wants to go back to the surface or see Chara's cloth that are the same as Asriel's. You did see that Chara's kind.) Although she originally had a reserved character that did not move forward before, if it is for the sake of her beloved one, she will devotedly become active as the personification of a love’s awakening.(That's why Frisk can "Save" Asriel you can see how powerful "Save" is. That shows how much Chara cares for and loves Asriel.(True Pacifist Route))

Meekly from the start, she was a gentle AI that performed health care on Masters, but by having acquired “love”, she woke up to the fact that she “cannot save anything just by enduring through things”, so she threw away everything for the sake of her beloved one, a hard working-type heroine who resolved to fight. The strongest case of that is terrific when it is a young docile woman who erupts to a large degree.

Her little devil characteristic stems from here. Additionally, since she is an enduring-and-enduring-only-to-later-explode-type, she displays a dreadfully extreme sadism during the moments when she shows that type of person she is. In the middle of playing out the part of a villain, she gets into a kind of high of “This is to-tal-ly fun!”, but withdrawing to the backstage and becoming composed, she becomes troubled to the point that she is in low spirits, saying “How embarrassing… Even though I planned to perform it more stylishly…”, and this series of events is a one-set course of events for her. Her desperate choice to utilize the Evil of Humanity that is "All the World's Desires" began to corrupt her, however, and eventually she lost sight of why she sought to take control of the Moon Cell entirely. It is only Hakuno's intervention that reminds her of the love that she held for them and reverts her to her normal self.

Without tearing down her wicked underclassman character, BB sincerely serves as a Servant. There are no personal romantic feelings in that. Although BB’s misanthropy is not any different, she loves the “good humans themselves” as gratitude to the person who once taught her about love. (Thanks for information from typemoon.fandom.com)

Chara's failures as a sibling were tied to the trauma they suffered on the surface and that their desire to become invincible wasn't just because they were self-serving, psychopathic or just plain evil. So, in the end, Chara is just like every other character in Undertale: far from good, but also not a terrible person either.

In Tsofph Season 12(Chapter2 CCC world)

Frisk and Chara's story will be similar to Devola and Popola's story. The Devola and Popola models got thrown out for supposedly letting it happen but it's far more complex than that. The ones in Replicant aren't solely responsible for it and they're not villains either. Frisk and Chara are the A.I. that can exist by their own free will. But they will never be free of what they have been programmed to do.

In Tsubasa of Phantasia, Frisk and Chara are gender female. Frisk and Chara were blamed for the failure models and in turn, the remaining models were reprogrammed to harbor constant feelings of guilt. The twins were treated as pariahs in the Resistance Camp and were often given the most gruelling tasks. Because they have to be punished for their failure. The Moon cells judge them to be reborn and wipe their memories to become new NPC characters within the Moon Cell's virtual world. Frisk without hesitation sacrifices her determination and her power to Chara. Frisk changed and was reborn as Sakura Matou. Because the NPCs cannot do anything but routine work(that makes Chara become a ghost, all she can do is watch and stay with Sakura), they ignored Sakura who began to disintegrate as something "nonexistent" and since the Moon Cell's check was performed only at the end of the day during the preliminaries, Sakura was in a crisis of being extinguished but was found by Hakuno, who managed to help her hold onto existence. In an attempt to save them from their inevitable death in the Moon Holy Grail War Chara held them in a time loop for 69 days; however, she realized she was being selfish and ended the loop voluntarily. To be free by her own memories, she instead chose to seal them away within a backup body. Furthermore, the backup she had made to store those memories became self-aware, renaming herself BB and abducting Hakuno, Sakura, and several other Masters to the Far Side as her way of protecting Hakuno.

...what i was saying? aside some anxiety and a rocky start, he did not have the conditions to develop the exact same personality of the past owner of his body (besides he has a much shorter life compared to the others! 40 in 1989, only 74-75 now!). [name] is overrall more natural and calmer, but his new and own facade hides that he still can be petulant. he is perhaps more arrogant than before: if some of gil's was pretended overconfidence, this guy arrogancy is 100% legit.

FUN TELEPORT FACT TIME

Can only handle people. You can teleport yourself. But you can't teleport things that aren't actually yours. So like... your purse or your backpack can come along, but not the crate or oranges you want to sell in the next town over. Gotta take that on foot or by chocobo or cart.

(This is why the 77 caravans still make bunches of money.)

There is a hypothetical limit to the number of teleports a person can safely handle. (Back in 1.0 this was the "anima" system.) I assume that no person ever actually teleported themselves to death, though, so that's why they took away the limits in 2.0. I think it's implied that most people get pretty tired after teleporting, though, and perhaps there are some who cannot do it at all.

If you teleport together as a group only one person has to pay the teleport fee. GROUP DISCOUNT!

Teleport fees are automatically deducted from your gil balance in the game, but it's assumed you toss some coins at the guard after you arrive at your destination and they just didn't bother animating that because it'd be silly.

In 1.0 all the teleport crystals got destroyed by Dalamud causing the aether to go haywire. Most of them got eaten by voidsent, but Camp Revenent's Toll in Mor Dhona exploded into the hot radioactive mess that it still is today, and the site had to be abandoned.

Lord Lolorito personally paid for Sharlayan scholars to come by and build new aetherytes to replace the ones that got eaten by Atomos voidsent. Your teleport fees are going to him.

Because the new Scions of the Seventh Dawn refused to pledge their fealty to Lolorito, he put a statue of himself in Vesper Bay instead of an aetheryte. Giant middle finger to Minfilia.

As the warrior of light has proven, there isn't any hypothetical reason why someone can't just attune to aetherytes in other dimensions and use them to dimension hop. Or go to the moon. Or the end of the universe. (Guessing Y'shtola wasn't in her "real" body on the First so it doesn't count for her. And there's no aetherytes left on the 13th.)

Even Garleans, who can't use magic, were apparently able to use an aetheryte system, provided it had an artificial power source from cereuleum. That's wild!

Teleportation magic in FFXIV is actually the craziest thing

like, it's established so early on you don't have to think about it, and I expect the writers also didn't think too hard about it when they were first putting together the worldbuilding. but we teleport through the Lifestream. we dip in and out of the afterlife every time we go anywhere long-distance. and this is such a normal part of everyday life that major settlements basically all have giant crystals in the middle that are meant to facilitate this kind of travel.

and to be absolutely fair, in a world where the afterlife really was a place underground, we totally would build a subway system through it and put Hades in charge. it's not like it doesn't make sense, it's just. wild.

Arkadiusz is a business associate of Gregory’s, as they work for the same organization. The pair were on a three year long mission in Poland to replace a politician with a choice pick from their organization’s lead, pretending to be married. They rarely got along when not in public, and Justyna pretended to be a maid at the estate they were planted at so she could still be around her then boyfriend. Arkadiusz and Gregory do not often see eye to eye, and now Gregory would prefer not to see him at all. Arkadiusz did not help his mental health for several reasons.

Carol McCormick - Mother of Kevin, Kenny, and Karen McCormick - Ex-Wife To Stuart McCormick - 46 - FC: Jamie Lee Curtis

Carol McCormick became the sole parent to their kids when Stuart was arrested four years previous. Karen was the only one of their children that still lived at home, but the house became different once he was gone. Carol maintains that she was the abused one, when she was just as much at fault as her ex-husband. She served him divorce papers after he went to prison, and the proceedings gave her her divorce and custody of Karen. She is somewhat close with Kevin and his kids,. A mouse of a man started dating her, only to give her an STD and leave when she started showing terminal symptoms. Kevin and Karen have been caring for her, though Karen only does it out of obligation to her brother.

Charlotte Chadwick - Wife of Jameson Chadwick - Mother of Gregory Chadwick - 47 - FC: Cate Blanchett

Charlotte always has to be the best at everything that she does, and has passed this on to her son in the form of making him a perfectionist. She is very controlling of her son, and has to make sure that he is the absolute best. Very often, her and her husband fight, because she is close with Mole’s mother. Their abuse stretches to Gregory, as well. Wine is her drink of choice, and Gregory is convinced she doesn’t drink anything else. She prefers Mole to her son, and refuses to accept that he is gay. Instead of trying to hook Gregory up with a Good Girl, she keeps trying to hook Mole up.

Christie McCormick - Wife of Kevin McCormick - Mother of Gil and Fauna McCormick - 29 - FC: Debi Mazar

Christie is Kevin’s wife, as she made herself “homeless” in order to avoid being served the divorce papers. She stays with her parents when not harassing Kevin and their children, and is waiting for the day he lays hands on her. She will physically and verbally abuse their children and has hit Kevin on more than one occasion. She has made false reports to CPS in hopes of getting the kids taken away from their good home and put into hers so she can “do God’s work” and end them. Kevin despises her.

Crofton Banks - Father of Pete Thelman - Ex-Boyfriend to Lily - 54 - FC: Lane Davies

Crofton is Pete’s father, and Lily’s ex-boyfriend. She was pregnant at 18, he was 24, and Crofton stayed with her and Pete until Pete was 3. He then couldn’t take lying to his family about why he wasn’t willing to marry Lily. He fled one night without a word, took a plane to New York, and never looked back. He left them with money for rent the next month, and to cover food and other expenses. He is a trust fund baby and never worked because he had to, but because he wanted to. He met his current fiancé while doing contracting for the mechanic he worked for.

Dennis Kennedy - Ghost; Lover to Arthur - Died in 2019 - 57 - FC: Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Dennis died of a brain aneurism at the age of 57, with no family in South Park and nobody to take care of his end-of-life expenses, he was taken care of by Father Maxi. He paid funeral costs and performed his funeral himself. Now, Dennis roams the graveyard, and has formed a very strong emotional relationship with Arthur, both in his proper timeline and in the current one he finds himself in. He’s usually in the graveyard, and so is Arthur, so they can spend time together. 

Filmore Anderson- Homoflexible Biromantic Polygamous Cis Male - 20 - FC: Aaron Bernards

With his familial ties to Rosie O’Donnel, Filmore managed to become something of a child actor. He worked in Hollywood, moving with his family, from first to eighth grade, and then moved back to South Park. His father was involvedin a scandal that killed his acting career. However, he wanted to stay in entertainment, and chose to be a Youtuber through the rest of school. He continues to do that and his music work on the side.

Jameson Chadwick - Husband to Charlotte - Father of Gregory Chadwick - 49 - FC: Daniel Craig

Jameson is a hard man to get along with. He is very business oriented and will not accept failure. His beliefs have also transferred to his son in a desperate attempt for approval. However, it is hard to gain, and he has never been very favorable of his son. He is very homophobic, due to thinking his wife is cheating on him with Mole’s mother. However, it could also be that he has had bisexual leanings in the past, and he refuses to accept that part of him.

Jeremy Smith - Father of Georgi and Firkle Smith - Husband to Marie - 42 - FC: Christopher Dennis

Jeremy can be rather cruel and neglectful to Firkle, but adores Georgi like they’ve never done anything wrong. While his abuse to Firkle was never physical, that didn’t stop Firkle from hating him. Georgi is not fond of their parents, either, because of how they treat Firkle. Marie is the one that pulls all the strings, and he just lets her take control.

Marie never wanted Firkle, only Georgi. When he came out sickly, she honestly hoped he’d die. And then, he just didn’t. She doesn’t care what he does, but when she’s at the house, she expects him to behave. He often doesn’t, and she has hit him and thrown things at him in the past. She is n’t afraid to hurt him and will do it especially if Georgi isn’t around to say something or know about it.

Mimsy Ellison - Asexual Homoromantic Unsure Cis Male - 25 - FC: Jake Sim

Mimsy is a very sweet man who is still rarely seen without Nathan. He does his best to help his longtime friend and semi-boyfriend, though he knows there are things he can’t help him with. They have a strictly romantic relationship. Mimsy enjoys working with his hands and does construction when he’s allowed to work, but for the most part is on disability. Woodworking is a hobby he is very proud of, as well as gardening. No matter who the person is, he is always ready and willing to help them. Despite Nathan’s allergy, he is quick to come home with stray cats that he finds, only to have to be told they cannot keep it.

Quaid was always lost without Filmore to direct him, and the two remained friends while Filmore was filming early on in school. When Filmore returned, it was with open arms, and Quaid put him back at the top of their little group. They remained friends with Ike, however. He keeps an iron fist on the town, not permitting a single Mongolian into the business sphere, and tries to get others to run any out of town. He will pay good money to anyone that gets rid of them, no matter if it’s making them leave or killing them.

Season One primarily focuses on the reader getting to know Laurence and the politics surrounding him. This establishes his identity as firmly socialist-leaning, which contrasts with Roman's conservative leanings. Laurence's one in-person friend, who he met in college, foreshadows his tendency to latch on to people who ultimately do not have his best interests at heart or do not understand him. Laurence's self-esteem is very poor, so he considers himself to be miles beneath most people in his circle. The only reason he can project any sort of confidence with Roman is because he does not respect him, his family, or his views. This shift in the usual dynamics that Laurence has with others is a key part of understanding the relationship between him and Roman.

Pre-Season One Background: Laurence grew up in Chicago and went to university in NYC. It took him six years to get a bachelor's degree since he kept failing classes and dropped out once or twice because of an attempted suicide that got him admitted to the psych ward for a while. He eventually received a degree in Graphic Design. Took electives regarding social justice and philosophy. He has a strained relationship with his family and seldom speaks to them. He started testosterone replacement therapy after moving to New York. His name has been legally changed, so nobody knows him by his dead name by Season One.

Season One: Cold open, Laurence drops too much acid at a Gil Eavis rally with a friend, and cries so hard he threw up. Or he threw up so hard, he cried? Either way, he threw up. Mirrors the beginning of Succession where Greg throws up while dressed as Dodrick. Logan Roy was brought up, so the crowd boos, and he felt lost and sad because he thought everybody was booing him.

S1E1-2 "Celebration" and "Shit Show at the Fuck Factory": News broke about Logan's collapse and hospitalization (NewYork Presbyterian), with memes spreading about it on social media. Did you see this South Park edit? It's hysterical. Laurence lays on somebody's couch (whose apartment is this????) in a daze, listening to everyone talk about how shitty Logan Roy and his company are.

S1E3 "Lifeboats": It is revealed that Laurence actually works for Gil as his social media manager for political outreach amidst his burgeoning presidential campaign. He has no idea how he got a job like this, but evidently, Gil and his associates see something in Laurence that he doesn't. This connects with how Roman is seen as having potential for more from Gerri despite his low self-esteem. There is more discussion about Logan Roy and his recovery and how disappointing that was. Laurence greatly admires Gil and his work and finds pride in his position.

S1E4 "Sad Sack Wasp Trap": Gossip about Joyce Miller's husband's butthole and how it's making Democrats look bad. There are whispers of Nate trying to convince Gil to talk to Shiv, and Laurence doesn't want to believe that Gil would essentially lay in bed with the enemy, even if she is supposedly a Democrat.

S1E5 "I Went To Market": Thanksgiving. Laurence was invited to a Friendsgiving but only knows his one friend and nobody else. He knows he'll just dissociate the entire time. He gets a text from his parents wishing him a happy Thanksgiving while also not so subtly blaming him for never keeping in contact. He makes boxed macaroni and cheese with sriracha and takes an edible. This is to help establish Laurence's own family troubles, while different from Roman's, is also in a way, the same. Also wealth disparity by eating cheapo Kraft dinner.

S1E6 "Which Side Are You On?": Nate tells Shiv to meet with Gil. There's discussion within the campaign group and Laurence vehemently opposes it and what that communicates about Gil's values.

S1E7 "Austerlitz": Shiv meets with Gil amidst the failure that is the Roy family therapy weekend.

In-between: Shiv is brought onto Gil's team as a political consultant, dropping Joyce Miller. Laurence, being vocally against her involvement, gives her the cold shoulder. He believes he's generally polite, but his demeanor is noticeably hard. Shiv, ever observant, takes notice of this and tries to get on Laurence's good side. Her motivations are unclear, though it may be because there is a degree of respect for him in his field. She does, however, find him to be naive. Laurence tends to think in black-and-white views.

S1E8 "Prague": Takes place one month after "Austerlitz." Laurence's friend catches wind of a big underground sex party (Rhomboid), where Tom is having his bachelor party (a last-minute change so that Roman can talk to Sandy Furness) and wants Laurence to come. He almost does, but chickens out last minute. Truthfully, he didn't want to go, anyway. His friend accuses him of being a wet blanket and why the fuck is he even in New York if all he's going to do is stay in his apartment all the time. Shiv, surprisingly, offers some comfort to Laurence despite the cold shoulder. He's skeptical of her intentions.

In-between: Laurence is invited to Shiv's wedding, much to his surprise. He's not sure he can afford to go, but she says it's no trouble and that she can take care of it. Odd… Gil and Nate are also invited, though Gil only would come under the condition that Logan would not be present.

S1E9 "Pre-Nuptial": Laurence, ever the wallflower, keeps to himself. That's when Roman comes up to him to try and instigate him, expecting him to be very passive, only to learn that Laurence has more bite than he seems. Roman can't help but be intrigued despite feeling irritated that his position isn't automatically intimidating.

Laurence finds some of the catering guys to bum joints off of and that's when he meets Greg, who is in a similar position to him in that they're both "fish out of water" narratives, but he is ultimately more privileged despite being looked down upon. Greg asks for advice on whether or not he should tell Tom that he's pretty sure Shiv is having an affair. Laurence agrees, the dots connecting regarding Nate spearheading her joining Gil's team.

S1E10 "Nobody Is Ever Missing": The Wedding. Roman's rocket launch quite literally blows up in his face. Laurence observes Tom demanding that Nate leave with interest.

Working on the Romance timeline at 4am because I'm crayzaaayyyyyyyyy.

Basically, Season One is from Laurence's perspective and it's all about the reader getting to know him. Actually meeting Roman is pretty late in the season. I'm also trying to map out foreshadowing and consistent character work.
