How long had he kept her alive? ... Time was something the Hound rarely paid attention to. The only thing he saw was how the body slowly began to weaken the longer he kept one alive, and how their bodies slowly transformed into a ghost version of their old one. In the woman’s case, her body was littered in bruises and cuts and bite marks as if a wild animal had attacked her in more than one occasion. 

Ikkaku, a member of the Heart Pirates, that was her name. Michi remembered it very well, but he didn’t use the name, he used anything other than her proper name. Nicknames, pet names, whatever came to his mind the moment he opened his mouth. “Your friends been adoring the gifts I sent them... The look on their faces is always priceless.” Michi murmured above Ikkaku’s bare form as his clawed fingers gently stroked the skin of her bare stomach. 

As his crimson eyes lingered down her form, he could see stumps of what was left of her left hand’s fingers while on the other side her hand was completely missing. Take away her most used body parts, and give them to those closest to her. It was a thrill like any other to Michi, he could barely contain his excitement whenever he heard the screams of pain. It was so hard to keep the blank expression on his face as he admired his latest piece of art. An art that would soon meet it’s end. 

As he leaned his face down next to her face, his nose pressed against the hollow of her malnourished cheek, he could hear her labored breathing. She was barely conscious, the constant loss of blood had left her lethargic, barely moving, as if she was a living corpse. “Don’t worry, darling... You will get back into their arms soon enough.” He whispered into her ear as one would a lover as his fingers slowly brushed back and forth upon her chest where her heart resided. It was time for the main course. 

With knees pressed upon each side of her hips, the Hound straightened his back and unsheathed a dark colored blade from his thigh. The red patterns of the blade gleamed in the darkness of the cell as he slowly brought it upon Ikkaku’s skin. He saw her chest raise and fall, a hitch of a breath came out, giving Michi the signal he craved. She would feel it all, as Michi wanted her to. She would feel every inch of the blade... A blade that slowly pressed below her collarbone. A whine, a twitch of muscles, Michi put in more pressure as the blade easily slid deeper into skin and flesh. A whimper and a gasp, and the weak struggle started below him. The man cracked a smile, sharp teeth prominent as the smile became twisted.

His blade cut downwards, between her breasts as the flesh opened by force and blood began to pool out in rivers. Before he knew it, the whimpering had turned into a quiet scream, her throat raspy from lack of hydration, as she gasped for breath and screamed in silent pain, unable to escape the torture. Michi loved every second of it, and whatever consequences came in the future with her death, he’d embrace them. No regrets, only the pleasure of the hunt, the play, is all he wanted. He was ecstatic.

His breaths were hot, and heavy, as he tossed the blade to the side and pressed his bare fingers into the fresh cut. Feeling the wet blood and the squish of flesh under his fingers made his tail wag behind his back. Like a happy dog ready to eat. A dog that tore its claws into the flesh and with force pulled the skin apart. Blood splattered upon his face and hands as he laid his eyes upon his prize beating below a cage of bones. “Stay with me a little longer little one... It’s almost done...” He reassured his victim, or in his cruel way, encouraged her to cling to life a few more painful moments. 

With bloody hands, the man gripped onto her rib cage and with ease snapped the obstacle away to get to his final prize. The body had gone silent, no more breath left to scream as her eyes were blown wide and filled with tears. Her heart beat in a slow rhythm, second by second getting slower and slower. Before it fully stopped, the Hound wrapped his fingers around the organ and stroked the sensitive flesh like it was something precious. A precious organ, that was ripped from it’s owner by force as the body left behind had gone still, no longer able to function without it’s most important organ. 

The hound brought the heart to his face, nuzzling it and making a mess off his face. A strong scent of iron filled his nose as he slowly bit into the tender meat. The owner of the snack completely forgotten the more he devoured the organ. It was like a reward, after all the excitement and with the flesh he would have the energy to make something gorgeous of what was left of the owner... Oh, it was going to be gorgeous.

“I never said pirates. Criminals come from all places, not just them”. Tashigi then halts, clearly saying more than she needed to. No matter how curious a person was, she didn’t really want to explain her reasoning behind her statements. Not like they were going to believe her anyways. The last person Tashigi said that to was, well the whole thing turned out to be complicated. It always did when coming back to Roronoa of all people in the vast world out there.

“Besides, I’m not interested in swords that have no rank or grade. Frankly, he can keep that sword for all I care. I’m just have no interest in any blade that’s not on my list of those towards my goals”. Capturing him would be the most ideal and even that was a pipe dream at the moment. Anyways, this was a little weird to be asked about but with the way Tashigi had been shouting about the same sentence to everyone she had met within a five mile radius, it was only a matter of time to have someone ask her some type of question relating to her motivations and dream.

When the brunette presents herself in front of him, Ace is ready to face any sort of request, or argument. Perhaps she wishes to steal his power for something, perhaps she wants to scold him about his childish and carefree attitude. He doesn’t mind her hot-blooded temper whenever she’s giving him a good lecture, her energy weirdly reminding him how Dadan was always yelling at him, and how he misses that kind of fuzzy attitude now that he’s sailing far from Goa. 

“Oh!” He widens his eyes for a second, his tenebrous irises drifting overboard to watch his speed boat floating nearby, ready to go. He doesn’t usually accept guests on that ship, but if he needs to impress Ikkaku, he wouldn’t hesitate either. “M’lady, you’re asking for an honest favor.” 

He removes his hat and exaggeratedly bows in front of her, like a servant complying to his mistress’ order, while he extends his arm to point at the Striker. “Anytime, Ikkaku! I’d be happy to give you the best ride of your life.” He adds, fixing his hat back over his skull, his mischievous grin growing over his features.

Do either of you like any bleach ships? Which ones if so?

@whipplefilter's answer: I’m not a shipper, and a lot of that probably has to do with the fact that I’m unclear on the concept of romance just like, generally, lol, and shipping tends to imply some kind of romance. But I am very invested in relationships! It just doesn’t really matter to me whether the relationship is romantic or non-romantic, and I really love it when non-romantic relationships get focus and airtime. But I’m certainly not anti-ship! I probably consume more fannish shippy content than non-shippy content, by pure virtue of the fact that there is more shippy content, and I’m perfectly happy about that because if it’s about characters I like—and to have my cake and eat it to, about relationships between characters I like—then I’m probably excited about it.

Personally, I don’t feel strong distinctions, or a strong need to identify distinctions, between what’s a ship and what’s a friendship. I think that’s part of the reason why shipwars always take me by surprise. I don’t feel like a character not being in a romantic relationship with someone automatically devalues the relationship they have. I mean, I think if the character thinks about their relationships in that way, then that’s what happens. Or if the character tends to be a single-minded kind of person, such that they really can’t imagine themselves having multiple intense relationships of varying stripes. These aren’t Bleach examples, but in Nana, Hachi treated her friends like complete shit in pursuit of/focus on her romantic partner. In that case, yeah, she was totally the one devaluing her friendships! Or in Chihayafuru, Taichi ends up heartbroken because Chihaya doesn’t reciprocate his confession of love, and he knows that Chihaya is a one-track-mind kind of person.

By contrast, I see Ichigo as someone with huge capacity to have, well, a mountainload of intense and meaningful relationships, in ways that distinguish him from a lot of "one goal to rule them all" 15-year old manga protagonists. (No shade to single-minded love! I mean… We run a very monogamous and single-minded Bleach blog.) I’d say the same is true of many of his friends.

Beyond that, I do think my level of excitement re: shipping varies in terms of how central romance feels to [my interpretation of] a character. Like, in terms of how important *I feel* their love life *feels to them*. XD (And also how proximal the "things that make this pairing tick" are to the "things that excite me personally about this character.") So like, I am very excited by the idea of Hisagi/most fucking anyone, because, paraphrasing @ippoddity, his desire to make connections and be perceived is both important to him and to my investment in him. I think Hisagi is thirsty for any kind of connection, but I think he’d really like it if some of them involved romance. Also sex.

As a writer, I’m pretty committed to gen, because it’s my fave and there doesn’t tend to be as much of it in fandom spaces and I want it to exist. In one of my other fandoms, I have run a gen fic exchange for over a decade and people are still unclear on what "gen" even is! People constantly confuse gen for "anything that’s not porn" and submit shippy stuff lolol. Though, on the flipside… long long ago in a kingdom far far away, I did once run, like, THE Naruto porn meme of its time. XDDD Which is weird to look back on, but I think that was really because I happen to be pretty good at organizing things and it was a way of hanging out with my horny friends, LOL. Porn itself does nothing for me outside of its potential aesthetic value, and/or its potential to show me things about the characters/their relationship. And while a lot of porn is interested in both those things, if it weren't also very interested in the actual fucking then what would be the point?

@ippoddity's answer: I'm on a similar page as @whipplefilter when it comes to shipping. It's not like I don't ship, because I certainly do have preferences, but I am more invested in (and interested in) relationships (whether they be romantic or not).

I really love that in canon, Ichigo's relationship with Rukia is deep and meaningful, but not necessarily romantic. I really like the idea of soulmates (or twin stars or twin flames or whatever you want to call them), but like, not romantic soul mates. I think what makes IchiRuki so appealing to many people is that they have a close connection. And I'd love to see more of that explored (not just in regards to IchiRuki, but all relationships in general), sans romance.

This isn't to say that I don't also consume shippy fanworks! I do it all the time! I am sort of an equal opportunity shipper, and will try out anything at least once. I feel like I can appreciate a good piece of content, whether it's for something I ship or not. Like GrimmIchi works?? SO MUCH GOOD STUFF OUT THERE (y'all are amazing). It's not necessarily a ship I'm actively sailing on or contributing to, but I'm there for the fun ride. Like my co-blogger said, I also think that Hisagi can be shipped with almost anyone. The poor man is just so desperate for connection and acknowledgement. So if someone is gonna give him a relationship that gives him what he wants, I'm down for it. And something else I've gotten into since starting this blog? Akon/almost anyone. He has so much potential and I've really gotten onto this Akon stan train.

When it comes to shipping or not, for me the most important thing is "does this relationship make them happy?" And that's really all I care about. For example, I think Renji's happiness very much weighs on his connection with Rukia, so I'm happy that he's happy with her (if that makes any sense at all). For the same reason I'm down with IkkaYumi, because I love Yumichika and think he deserves to be happy and I think his relationship with Ikkaku makes him happy. LOOK I JUST WANT HAPPY ENDINGS FOR EVERYONE.

(ngl I was scared of writing this post because I didn't want to get stuck in between some kind of shipwars. The fervor of shipwars honestly baffle me because I do not think I could ever feel so strongly about a ship that I get dragged into hateful discourse, especially for series that ended a long time ago?? But I am also very against confrontation to begin with, so I would probably just apologize and bow out anyway.)

Hi! Do you have some headcanons the heart pirates by any chance?

Sorry for the wait! My motivation ran away Btw, I only did one’s surrounding named members, hope you don’t mind ^-^Also might be doing a part two cuz my server lovelies inspired me for the characters without names >.>

Penguin and Shachi aren’t blood related, but since their parents were family friends, they were raised together. After their parents died in the tsunami and they got sent to Shachi’s cruel Aunt and Uncle, they started calling each other brothers. After they ran away, the swore a blood oath to never abandon the other and started living off of the land and by stealing.

Bepo is the official Navigator but Ikkaku is working under him to learn about it.

Speaking of Ikkaku, she’s trans! Law helped her with her transition and did all her surgeries himself. No one knows where she’s originally from or her old life, she refuses to say.

Uni is non binary and uses they/them, he/him. They comes from a clan of ninja but they prefers to be more normal… if you can call being a pirate normal. Sometime Uni forgets to make sounds so he doesn’t startle people XD

Clione is the ship’s Lookout, Scout, and Rigger. He also handles a lot of the ships finances and budgeting. He was raised on a small sky island village but wasn’t born there and is unaware of his parentage. Being on land sucks for him as he’s used to constant movement.

Penguin and Shachi are the Co-Mechanics of the Polar Tang, having learned once they got the sub. They know every inch of it like the back of their hand and how to operate/fix it.

For years it was literally just Law, Bepo, Penguin and Shachi. Because of this, they all branched out to fill out the needs of the crew until they got the official members. Because of this, Penguin was the Cook for the longest time, Shachi was the Helmsmen and the Lookout, and they all did smaller stuff like balancing budgets, meals, they took turns Chronicler-ing (Law said it was pointless but they refused to not write down their adventures.), ect.

In the same vein, while every member knows basic and intermediate first aid, both Penguin and Shachi are fully licenced (well by Law’s standards) Doctors and are trusted with operations/patients in case Law isn’t able to. (ofc it wont be as well done as Law, but he has a miracle fruit so his bar is impossibly high). Bepo is also very knowledgeable but he’s unable to do some things cuz of his lack of hands, so he’s mostly a good assist.

Otherwise, Shachi is better at surgery and Penguin is better at things like diagnostics, setting breaks, and medicine.

Shachi is an experienced Martial Artist, but he’s really good with most weapons, preferring a bo staff, guns, or a sword.

Penguin is able to use a bo staff or is okay with weapons but he prefers fighting with Martial Arts, also being very experienced in it.

Opinion on the ship itself: Haha, knew this was coming! I definitely do see Ikkaku being devoted to her wonderful Polar Tang. It will certainly come before just about anyone else except maybe her crew.

Would I consider shipping it, myself?: I see Ikkaku considering the Tang more like her child than a lover. So, no.

Favorite thing about it: There’s some silly crack stuff that can come from it.

Least favorite thing about it: If taken seriously, that it could easily make Ikkaku come off like a machine-fucker or something, which she’s not.

How do I feel about their shipname?: Pretty sure they don’t have one. It would probably get confusing, too, considering how the Tang is the ship.

1 out of 10, how would I rate it?: 1/10. Yes, the Tang is a wonderful ship that Ikkaku cherishes, but it’s not a ship.

So it may be a bit transparent but Killer is probably my fave, but in general I love reading for all the Kid Pirates, and actually for any other characters that don’t get the spotlight as frequently as some of the big favorites. (Also, give all our op ladies love!? They are amazing and deserve it!) (also, not just xreader, but just fics about the characters in general?)

But if you want a few specific names *cracks knuckles* : nojiko, usopp, koala, barto, cavendish, shachi, penguin, ikkaku, tashigi, bonney, hawkins, usopp, iceberg, cp9 in general, ideo, and there’s probably more that I can’t think of at the moment lol

Do you have any headcanons/thoughts on Kisuke and Akon relationship? I love them both and it's very sad for me that Akon is so unpopular. I've been looking for anything about him for long time.

I love Akon to pieces as well, because he’s shown to be both a well-respected and well-adjusted figure in the Twelfth Division.  Especially since (and I’m not going to post panels of this because it’s so fucking gross, but you can see for yourself if you check out chapter 69 of the manga) the first glimpse we get of said division is of a bunch of creeps who start pawing at and drooling over Rukia’s gigai once it’s brought in.  Seriously, it’s disgusting *shudders*

So yeah, I love the fact that Akon is one of the more level-headed of the bunch, a scientist who is brilliant but still has compassion and works harder than anyone in the SRDI.  One of the highlights of 685 for me was seeing him get the VC spot; I was honestly happier for him than I was for Rukia, and I was already pretty damn happy for her. He truly deserved that promotion and the recognition that comes with it.

To begin with, I think we can safely assume Kisuke and Akon had a reasonably good relationship by the mere fact that Akon feels comfortable calling him by his given name.

A few things first…

This is something a number of people probably don’t know since it was in a volume sketch, but Akon wasn’t a member of the Twelfth when Kisuke became Captain, he was one of the people Kisuke released from the Maggot’s Nest:

There’s also the fact that Akon is perfectly comfortable to yell at Kisuke when he’s being an asshat:

I can literally hear that dork in my head, going all: 

“Moshi-moshiiiiiiiii~~? ♡″

(though given the small speech bubble he probably just said “Hai” but whatever xD) 

Another moment that’s often forgotten as it wasn’t in the anime, was the one where Akon more or less tells the audience outright that Kisuke is a former Shinigami long before Yoruichi makes the reveal.  In that scene I mentioned earlier on with Rukia’s gigai being brought in, it’s Akon who recognizes the level of craftsmanship and has a reaction similar to the one Ikkaku has later on: 

The manga immediately cuts to a panel of Kisuke observing his portal right after this scene.  Now I realize both Akon and Ikkaku’s shocked reactions are probably remnants of the abandoned ‘Kisuke is the villain’ plot, but all the above moments serve to tell us three things:

Akon likes Kisuke, even if he doesn’t share his sense of humor, and also respects him. 

So with all that in mind, let’s move on to the actual list.

Headcanons for Kisuke & Akon

Yoruichi had been thinking about nominating Kisuke for Captaincy for a while, but it wasn’t until he came back to the barracks one day, jaw set, telling her he saw a child in the Maggot’s Nest that day, that she decided to do it as soon as possible.

For the first few weeks out of the Maggot’s Nest, Akon could only ever respond to Kisuke’s kindness with a wary politeness, scared that his freedom was only temporary or that saying the wrong thing would get him sent back.

Though he respects Kisuke greatly, Akon always felt a kinship with Mayuri that was never there with Kisuke, both by nature and circumstance.  To him, Kisuke was always ‘other,’ in the sense that, for all his compassion, he could sympathize but never relate to what living in the Maggot’s Nest had been like.  Akon had learned to rely on no-one but himself for years, and the thought that he now ‘owed’ his freedom to someone, even someone he genuinely liked, was a difficult thing to swallow.  And Mayuri understood that perfectly. 

More importantly, Kisuke hid his darker proclivities and insecurities from the world with ease; even at his weirdest or shiest, Kisuke exuded a kind of charm that neither Akon nor Mayuri had ever quite achieved.  Mayuri hated him for this, seeing it as Kisuke rejecting his true nature.  Akon envied him, even if he did partly agree with Mayuri.  

Kisuke never shared with either of them that whatever confidence he had, had been a life-long work in progress.

However disconnected he felt from Kisuke at times, Akon remembers the early days of the SRDI with fondness, from the endless pranks to Hiyori’s grumpiness and the occasional visits of a black cat.  The general atmosphere of camaraderie was something he himself tried to instill in his subordinates in later years. 

Every now and then, when his Captain’s veneer of confidence cracked just a little bit, Akon felt a little closer to him, but only for a moment.  If there was one thing he did hate about Kisuke was the fact that his Shihōin connection had always shielded him from any real trouble and afforded him the kind of privilege others could only dream of.  The fact that Kisuke knew and acknowledged this made Akon hate him just a little more (but not really), until not even the Shihōin connection was enough to save him from banishment.  Then he just felt guilty.  

Akon smokes because Kisuke smokes.  It took him a long time to realize this, but for all the distance he felt separated him with Kisuke, he admired him deeply and subconsciously modelled himself after him in ways both small and big.  It only really occurred to Akon when Kuna made an off-hand comment upon finding him outside the lab at night, taking a smoke-break, and remarked that for a moment there, she thought she was seeing their old Captain’s silhouette.

Because of his closer association with Mayuri from the start, Akon credits him almost entirely for his advancement as a scientist.  Mayuri taught him proper scientific procedure, taught him to question, to persist.  Kisuke, however, taught him to know when to stop. 

The phone call between Akon and Kisuke during Ichigo’s fight wasn’t the first time they’d spoken since TBTP.  The first time was back in the early Arrancar arc, when Hitsugaya and Matsumoto were staying with Orihime and set up a big, TV-like screen for communication with SS.  When Matsumoto informed Kisuke that the Captain Commander wanted to speak to him to assign him a few tasks, Kisuke made his way over to Orihime’s.  The screen was disabled at the time, meant to be one-way communication only, but Kisuke started fiddling with it, much to Hitsugaya’s annoyance.  The screen lit up to a view of the SRDI, where curious researchers started craning their necks from the side to take a peek at the legendary former head of the SRDI, then Akon walked up straight to the screen.  He and Kisuke exchanged pleasantries (Kisuke embarrassed him by exclaiming how much he’d grown), until Mayuri was heard shouting from the background, and Kisuke silently mouthed at him to go hide so he could deal with Mayuri himself.

He then proceeded to troll Mayuri with a condescending genial comment about static vs dynamic IPs and security over VoiP.  When Mayuri left, he went on to deface the side of the screen with absurdly detailed instructions for setting up a dynamic IP** (”First you move your cursor over to Settings and click twice…”) complete with smiley face at the end, for when the screen would be delivered back to SS (lol, no, of course I have not thought about this extensively, what do you mean).

Even in the midst of chaos, Akon couldn’t suppress a small grin when Urahara Kisuke broke into the SRDI during the Quincy War and to team up with Captain Kurotsuchi.
