4 Days Before Christmas—Headcanon Edition!!

♪ I’d like to think Shuu relishes in the holidays, especially Christmas.

Sure in the games he says—just like the other boys—that he doesn’t care for it, but deep down he does.

♪ It’s the feeling of nostalgia and peace he finds cathartic in realizing that just for a day, a small moment, he and his family can play house.

And sure, playing “house” does have its downsides—hence why he isn’t all for the act—the holidays brings out a side of him that many wouldn’t think to be possible. Especially for someone as reserved, withdrawn, and apathetic as Shuu.

For a moment—one could even describe him as human with his true love for Christmas.

♪ Even if they all know it won’t last, and once the clock strikes 12 it’ll all be over like some fairytale: don’t be surprised when you see Shuu sitting on his signature couch, lounging about by the fire place, listening to the crackles and basking in the soft aureate glow from the tree lights and lanterns plastered on the wall, with a small smile creeping up on his lips, as his sapphire eyes glisten with a comforting touch once his brothers open gifts and glee with excitement.

♪ That’s what keeps him going. The childlike innocence in the profound realization that this is what living was made for. All for the small, trinket sized moments he can softly admire like a pretty marble in his hand, softly turning it around should he wish.

♪ He’s also definitely a great gift giver.

♪ Since the boy is so attentive, even without trying, he catches onto the small things people mention—even in light mundane conversation. It makes for a good party trick when he outdoes everyone every year for the sheer amount of gifts he gives.

♪ In fact, one year, the Sakamaki boys were shocked to see how crazy the gift giving got—with each boy receiving 8-10 presents each. Not including the stocking stuffers and the advent calendars Shuu invested in.

♪ Shuu loves decorating too—it’s the best part of the holiday and he WILL fight Reiji if the boy even so much dares to disrupt his artistic vision.

(Newsflash—Shuu always gets his way and it looks like it came out of a Dr. Seuss children’s book every time. Shuu will NEVER compromise on nostalgia. Never.)

♪ Seriously, the boy goes all out and by Christmas you’ll see the large 30 ft tree, reaching the ceilings with that golden shining star, with mountains of gifts on the bottom, threatening to fall in its sheer grandeur.

♪ Since Shuu has so much money to spend, spending it on others gives him more gratification and self fulfillment in knowing he can make others smile—in a way, healing his inner child when being devoid of all things “fun” and “childish” due to his position as Heir to The Throne™️.

He’s 100% like Emily from Pretty Little Liars and her disposition towards Christmas.

♪ Shuu doesn’t mind not receiving any gifts. All he cares about is knowing that he can spend actual quality time with others. After all, with all the money in the world at your disposal what don’t you have?

♪ He’s not much of a baker, but if need be he’ll indulge in it just for the spirit, despite not having so much of a sweet tooth.

♪ You’ll see him with some hot cocoa though, 100%.
