DP Prompt: Envy & Devastation Part 1

It isn't fair!

After everything he has done. After saving the whole town. Making sure they all returned back to the living world. That they were safe.

He got left behind...

That Crown had trapped him. Right by Conquest, they say. Making him the heir to the throne. Forcing him to remain in the Infinite Realms until his coronation. Until he was truly King, and bound by customs and responsibilities he doesn't care for.

When he tried to call out for help, to his friends and family beyond the portal. (All secrets be damned) Asking for them to search for a way out, anything that could free him. For a while they looked, but nothing was found, nothing could help him.

So, they thought, if Danny cannot come to us then we would go to him! They would visit him in his glorified prison, Phantom's Keep. For a period of time, they would visit him everyday, and he could almost pretend that nothing had changed. That he wasn't a soon-to-be king and that everyone that he loved lived across a whole other dimension.

Yet, everyday turned into every few a week, then once a week... then month.. year...

At this point he doesn't even remember the last time they came to see him...

Then finally Finally, he was King. He could leave the realms the moment he had a break in his schedule. When that moment came, he raced away, moving faster than he ever has and ripped a portal open when even that was taking too long. Opening up and exiting into Amity Park once again.

Random DP (x DC?) Thought #8:

Less a DC thing and more focused on DP but anyway-

While not advised for any number of reasons, it is possible to summon a ghost from the Realms. For entirely separate reasons, it is generally not advised to ever summon an Ancient.

Why?

Because getting a summoning 95% correct can be just as dangerous as summoning them 100% correct, where trapping entities that govern concepts into the confines of ritual can just as easily disrupt that domain within that dimension.

Such as:

An accidental Vortex summoning from an occult club scrambling weather patterns for a full 10 minutes while they frantically tried to undo it.

Someone didn't expect the crappy internet "nightmare catcher" to work when a bad papercut brought Nocturn into their room, but they didn't exactly have long to freak out before they and everyone in 5-block radius went into a state of dead sleep or were stuck staring at the ceiling for the next hour.

Someone desperately trying to get something done with not enough time made an deadline-insanity driven summoning of Clockwork, managing to convince him to just wait five minutes while they used the resulting time dilation to finish what they needed.

And summoning the Ghost King?

Danny took one look at the summoning circle of the dimension he got dragged to, laughed, and then promptly took a nap as all things death took a holiday (resulting paperwork be damned he was tired).

If you want the DC flavor, I could see the Clockwork summoning being Constantine pulling a last minute move to stop a disaster. To which the time ghost nudges various events to annoy the magician for a whole month in return. (Can't have people thinking they can summon the Ancient of Time for nothing after all)

Or Frostbite getting summoned at a festival in like, Fawcett or Central City and then just vibing with a chill hero like Captain Marvel or the Flash.

IT DOES NOT MATTER if you have or have not eaten, are starving, or have a full belly! Boo Seungkwan is GOING. To. Bring. Home. Food. For. You. Won't take no for an answer! And not only did he keep snacks on himself before you guys started dating but even more so now. He is such a sweetheart who will never allow you to go hungry.

Honestly, he's hypocritical in that he'll start going on a diet but the minute that you say that you need to go on a diet - the gates of hell break loose in your home. Completely outraged that you won't eat at least a bite of what he's offering you. Pouts and acts like you just told him that you want to break up or something worse. The type to say, "FINE THEN I'LL EAT IT MYSELF", then proceeds to give you the nastiest stare-down of your life as he takes a bite. (If you don't concede to his little charade quick enough this WILL become a silent treatment game)

Vernon Sends pictures of himself

Lowkey, you become a photo storage for this man. Sends a photo to you every single time he thinks of you, which is a lot more often than one might think. Is constantly sending you pics of random things he's found and can't send to anyone else. The one constant is his damn face that never changes in any of the pics despite the angle changes. It's gotten to the point where you've had to ask how he does it but he just shrugs.

Every question you ask is answered in either a meme or a photo of him looking like his regular deadpan self, no words either and if you ask for clarification he just sends another photo of him looking confused as hell.

This really is his own special brand of clinginess. You'll hear a message notification from him, open it, and it's his face at the most unflattering angle... He's literally lying on your stomach right at this moment. No explanation, even if you ask he doesn't give one.

Dino Assumes you're following him everywhere

The opposite of Wonwoo's habit lol. Dino sees absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be by his side at all times. You're his number one comfort, so why wouldn't you be with him 24/7? Weird that you would even think he'd let you leave. He has a spider sense for when you're moving too far away from him and he will immediately grab and bring you towards him.

More than the physical though, this dude will not allow you to be by yourself. If he's going on tour, congrats! You are also going on tour! There's a company trip? Great! You're a part of the company now. It may even get to the point of him downright refusing to go places if he knows there won't be space for you.

"I need to go outside and get some fresh air." "Okay, babe." "I said...I need to go outside and get some fresh air." "Alright, hun, I'll be right here." *Genuinely tweaking out at this point, gets up, and grabs your hand. Dragging you with him.* "You could've just asked me to follow you." *Leaning his head on your shoulder, still slightly upset* "You're supposed to know! I need you near me whenever possible."

Most Disliked Robin Results!!

at long last, (some of) the data you've all been waiting for.

for those of you who are new, i put out a questionnaire to gather data in the interest of discovering if my personal hypothesis that knowing someone's #1 Robin tells you nothing really, but knowing their top two, now that gives you insight. i have since closed that questionnaire, and we are in the data crunching stage. in this anon ask, anon was curious which Robin was getting the most dislike votes. i shared the current numbers w/o revealing who was getting which votes, and invited y'all to vote for which Robin you thought was getting the most dislike votes.

these were the results of the prediction poll:

before i share the final results, with 745 responses, a disclaimer:

the data pool is extremely small in the grand scheme of things!! this data cannot be used to make definitive claims about fandom at large. this is simply what we observed from the small group of fans, predominantly from tumblr, who filled out my questionnaire. cool? cool.

for our purposes, a "Stan" is someone who marked X Robin as their #1 fave Robin, and a "Fan" is someone who marked X Robin in their top two. additionally, whenever you see a top two Duo, for example, Dick & Damian, the character mentioned first is that person's #1. so Dick & Damian duos are distinct from Damian & Dick duos!!

for the non-math nerds, the 95% CI*, or 95% Confidence Interval is there to show that if we were to poll a random 745 responders again, from the same communities, we're about 95% sure the true value is somewhere in here range. *this is a bit of a simplification, but uh, i am not a math teacher + google is free. (i thought about finding a snappy youtube vid but as soon as they started talking math i zoned out whoops.)

finally a big, big thank you to @chinajousama and @tevyaa for their data-crunching + formatting!! none of this would have happened nearly as quickly (or successfully) without them!! 🫶

the most important takeaway here, imo, is that ~74% do not dislike any Robin. (shoutout to the Jason & Steph Duo who disliked Dick, Tim, and Damian tho, iconic.)

also, it is not at all what tumblr predicted!! tumblr predicted that dick would be least disliked (by virtue of him getting the least votes) and that's...about all that was correct from the prediction poll.

now how does this breakdown depending on Stans/Fans/Duos?

Stans' dislike (Y is responders #1 Robin)

"hey!!" you say, "the math is not mathing- if i add up the bottom row i get 774/104%, not 745/100%." correct!! this is because responders were able to dislike more than one Robin.

if we gave the percentages for each row of the very first chart, (the one that lays out how people voted in all the permutations), those percents would add up to 100%. but since we're only breaking it down between the Robins, there's overlap. 14.8% of everyone disliked Tim, that number is true. however, that 14.8% of Tim Dislikers includes people who also disliked other Robins- it's not the percentage of people who exclusively dislike Tim.

tl;dr: it doesn't add up, but the math is right, trust.

"okay, fine, but why don't you have a 95% CI for everyone?" if the sample group was too small to make a prediction (received less than 5 responses), we decided not to give one because there's simply not enough data to give one worth having. tl;dr, if there's a 0.00%* in the 95% CI chart, don't read into those stats too hard!!

already you can see some differences compared to the Stans' Dislikes- most percentages go up a bit, but a few go down.

now let's see what happens when we look at the breakdown over Duo's Dislike

note the differences!! for instance, all Jason-first Duos are more likely to dislike Tim than the percentage given for Jason Stans, except for Jason & Tim duos, which duh, but also, Jason & Tim is the second most common Jason-first Duo, making up 25.3% of Jason-first Duos.

also!! Tim fans are the least likely to dislike overall, with 83.2% not disliking any Robin, however, Tim stans, specifically Tim & Dick Duos are the most likely to dislike Damian. (*cough* lingering Red Robin grudge, perhaps? *cough* Tim Stans: i can let a lot of shit go, but that. that i cannot. [i'm a Tim Stan, i'm allowed to tease them, okay?])

another crucial thing to point out here is that the percentages represent how likely Y Duo is to dislike X Robin. this distinction is significant because while it is correct to say that, (based off this data pool), Steph & Damian Duos are the most likely to dislike Tim, it is incorrect to say that most Tim dislikers are Steph & Damian Duos.

something, something squares and rectangles If you grab a random Steph & Damian Duo responder, they are the most likely out of all the Duo responders to dislike Tim. However, if you were to grab a random Tim Disliker responder, the odds of that responder being a Steph & Damian Duo are pretty low.

by number, Dick & Damian Duos make up the biggest portion of Tim Dislikers (26 out of 110 votes). however, they also make up the biggest portion of responders overall with 92 votes, whereas Steph & Damian only got 22.

(side note, if you're like, whoa but Dick & Jason won the tumblr poll- overall, there were more responders that had Dick and Jason in their top 2, however they were split 82/64 and Dick and Damian was split 92/29. those splits are also super interesting to see, bc some are pretty even and others aren't.)

okay, so what's the takeaway here? repeat after me: everybody 👏hates 👏 Tim!! 👏 loud incorrect buzzer yeah, no so the main takeaway here is that so far, it's looking like there is visible variation depending on a Stan/Fan's Duo compared to Stan/Fan opinion. also, that most Robin fans don't dislike a Robin. you can relax, odds are blorbo is not under attack. unless you're a Tim stan. jk jk, i'm sorry, him having 14.8% dislikability is just hysterical to me, like do you see the social distancing, Jason is the second most disliked and Tim has more than double his numbers LMAO.

especially bc that 14.8% is just like, out of all responders, how likely Tim is to be disliked, right, follow me here, hehe. 110 of 223 dislike votes cast were for Tim, right, so of the dislike votes cast there is a ~49.3% chance that a dislike vote is a dislike Tim vote.

but!! if we condense that 223 (dislike votes cast/remember that 1 responder could dislike multiple) to 194 (the actual number of responders who disliked), then it's 110 out of 194, so if a Robin fan dislikes anyone, there is a ~56.7% that they dislike Tim.

try not to laugh at that, i dare you.

now, as a Tim stan, i think this makes sense because out of all the Robins, Tim has the most on panel interaction with every other Robin compared to the others, so like, if any Robin is going to show up and annoy you, odds are it's Timbo. factor in fanfic trends and uh...look, do i love Tim? yes. After applications closed at the end of April, the tournament ran from May 10th, 2024 to October 28th, 2024, just a few days shy of six months! During this time...

★ 143 competitors joined the tournament and made friends ★ 1,813 Propaganda posts were made by the community supporting those competitors, and reblogged to the @kirbyoctournament blog ★ 202 polls were made pitting your favorites against each other ★ across those polls, 43,165 votes were cast ★ and of all these, winners starstruck dee and Rope MF received 1179 votes and 699 votes respectively over the course of the event

★ 36% (52) of entered OCs were of the "orb" species, with 33 of those taking up the mantle of "knight" specifically. far and away the most represented species ★ Waddle dees were the next most common entrant, with 17 OCs. ★ Ripple Fairies were the least showcased non common-enemy/custom species type, with only a single representative! ★ Of all OC names, "S" was the most common initial at 16 OCs, a statistic we do feel is influenced by the frequency of "sir" before names. WIP Wednesday ~ WIP File Game

Um hi there. *waves nervously* Soooo over the past two months, I've been tagged multiple times by different people to partake in various WIP Wednesday posts and WIP file games. Sadly, I haven't had as much time for fandom as I would have liked recently, and I've just let those tags sit there unanswered. Thank you for thinking of me @mega-aulover, @unnamednarrator, and @thesweetnessofspring.

I'm going to use this post to answer both types of tags, and the people I tag in turn, please choose which version you'd rather play, play both!, or play neither.

First... a snippet from chapter 40 of Spellbound:

“Peeta! Let me go!” There’s the metallic thunk of a heavy round. Hands yanking on my wrists. I stare at the body. His jaw blown off, silencing him forever. Eyes empty. Hollow. Gone. “Peeta?” That’s when the trembling starts. I blink and the shadows recede. His face gone, replaced with Haymitch’s skull gleaming oddly in the flashlight on the cave floor. The jawbone fallen at an odd angle.  Fingers dig into my wrists. Deep enough that it hurts. The pain in my wrists and my knee somehow grounds me. Pulls me away from that day in the sun baked streets and back into this one. “Peeta?” Katniss asks. I can barely make out her shape in the gloom, and I shake my head. Who dropped the flashlight? When did we wind up on our knees?  “I’m fine.”

And now for the more difficult part. Here's a list of my current WIP files. If it's listed as a story on AO3, I hope to finish it this year. If it's listed as not yet posted to AO3, then I'm hoping to start posting it/finish it this year. Actually some of them are not that bad, but others really are a dumpster fire. Send a number between 1 and 66 for a potentially unpleasant surprise, if you dare.

Can you give a brief summary of what your AU is?

False God's Limbo is an AU in this near monochromatic, corrupted version of a cartoon world resembling the tapes in the Smiling Critters Show and other Playtime Co. advertisements.

At first, it is easy to assume that it's the afterlife, a toy afterlife but the truth is that it isn't exactly an afterlife world rather those who have been absorbed by the Prototype(the False God)end up here as several minds melted into this dream-like limbo where they can't escape. They cannot die but feel pain, some can grow hungry but none can starve to death, etc. Hopefully, you didn't make too many enemies while in the factory as it is now way easier to get jumped, tortured, or fought with since death isn't seen as a possibility for most, they have all the chances they get for any revenge or bloodlust they crave.

However, the limbo itself has a few additional quirks. A decent number of toys possess something they call a "Mirror," which are dark reflection of the toy's mind and trauma that works similarly to things like Stands...or rather like Anti-Stands, as they can hurt or negatively impact the user. Their creation solely depends on the emotional state, trauma, guilt, grief, or any other negativity the toy is attached to, and they could be used defensively, offensively, or against one's self if the toy is unlucky. The Mirrors tend to vary in their uses, abilities, purposes, or how they impact the user.

Additional quirks of the limbo could include random objects that certain toys are attached to from the factory such as the labcoat and raincoat that Catnap and Baba Chops have. Certain homes like Dogday's cartoon house or the Safe Haven location appear randomly throughout the world like they manifested themselves from the memory of the toys that once inhabited those places. As well as the possibility of monsters the limbo itself creates that the toys have to deal with that can range from what they are, how they appear, and how dangerous it is.

Characters appear in their cartoon-like forms but depending on the individual from the factory, it could distort the appearance as Doey(originally made up of three kids) is now three different Doey's all attached to each other but can be in separate bodies. Or perhaps, The Doctor, which the Limbo couldn't make a cartoon-like form for so the The Doctor became almost like a black cloud of scribbles that try to take shape into TV screens and hands. Don't worry, The Doctor is still growing.

Toys made officially present within the Limbo at the time of writing this: The BBi Smiling Critters, the Mini Critters(same size now as BBI Smiling Critters so now they have a fighting chance against their BBI counterparts), the Mini Nightmares, Baba Chops(pet of Sawyer), Yarnaby, Doeys(A, B, and C), Mommy Long Legs, Bunzo, PJ Pug, a lot of toys from Safe Haven, Boxy Boo, The Doctor, Miss Delight, any other mini toys the Prototype decided to absorb, etc.

95% of them have beef with one of the other toys especially between the conflict of the Prototype side and Poppy's side so violence, group formations, and unfortunate reunions are common to see.

Also Fun Fact: Theodore Grambell(Catnap) is the biggest Heretic Hater to exist(he doesn't know the proper meaning of heretic, he just considers anyone against the Prototype side a "heretic"). Some may say he's grown allergic to them to the point he is completely fine staying away from anyone at Safe Haven as he doesn't like any of them(neither does Yarnaby or Baba Chops or MLL or Boxy or...you get the point). Some may say it's sort of comedic...when Theo isn't hunting you down for it (he more or less doesn't care anymore as long as a heretic doesn't try fighting him...otherwise hands are up). There can always be exceptions though here and there.

Just don't lie...or attack other members.

General Characterization and headcanons

My general thoughts on Ben as a character :3

Ben is anywhere from a little shit to devil incarnate and it depends on the context of his situation. Going based off the original story, Ben is sadistic and controlling, which is a lot of how I characterize him. My big thing for him though is that I don’t think he’s the spirit of a kid who drowned (me when I go against the entire lore). I think Ben already existed long before the child in the story died. I like to think of him as like an evil entity that can manipulate technology and live inside the internet, but can also materialize and has a physical form. So not quite a demon or spirit but also not quite a computer virus. My headcanon is that in the original story, Ben was only posing as a child who drowned to get the story writers sympathy or interest, but Ben was truly never a kid who drowned.

If you were interacting with him as a fellow proxy it would be a lot different than interacting with him as a potential victim. He can make friends and has them, namely Jeff is one of his good friends. Those two are a BULLSHIT combo and they will roast you to filth. Ben is a huge prankster too and 95% of the stupid shit they do to people comes from Ben’s ideas.

He secretly cares a lot about what the other creeps think about him but he pretends he doesn’t. He’s capable of feeling empathy and being caring towards others but only for people he deems worthy which is such a small number of people.

He generally can be fun to be around, but definitely would be one of those friends you’d have to take in small doses and you don’t rely on them for any emotional support.

General headcanons:

⚠︎ Ben is either like the same height as Jeff or slightly shorter so I’m gonna say 5’7-5’8

⚠︎ he has his ears pierced, usually wears little black hoops

⚠︎ he has pretty boy swag

⚠︎ actually gets so pissy about video games like if you beat him he’s borderline throwing a fit

⚠︎ but his gamer setup is actually insane, puts a lot of effort into it since he’s chronically online

⚠︎ he’s really superstitious and will make you participate in it, so don’t split a pole if you’re walking next to him

⚠︎ has multiple low visibility tattoos

⚠︎ lowkey a really good dancer but like you’ll only find this out after like years and years of knowing him in a random situation where he dances for whatever reason

i made a fakemon design prompter, and immediately rolled a single-type, no evolution, no special features normal type pokemon

so to kick it off and try to make myself feel better about rolling Basic Bitch(tm) right off the bat, here's Impossumble (based off of Australian possums n not oppossums dont @ me)

I've written the prompt generator steps below, in case it's not clear on your screens/for screenreaders. If you use the prompt generator, please tag me in it! I'd love to see what you come up with

#1 Special Features - d20

1-10 = Nil, go to #2 11-14 = Gender Variants, go to #2 15-18 = Starter Trio, go to #3 19 = Single evo/form legendary, go to #3 20 = Double evo/form legendary. Roll d2 or flip a coin to determine. 1/heads = multiple evolution, 2/tails = multiple forms.

#2 Evolutions - d8

1-3 = no evolutions 4-5 = 1 evolution 6-7 = 2 evolutions 8 = diverging evolutions. Roll additional d4 to determine how evolutions split. On a 1, pokemon splits at first evolution(i.e. snorunt, wurmple, etc). On a 2, pokemon has an unbalanced evolution tree (i.e. Salandit, which only evolves if female, or Applin, which can evolve into three different forms, but only Dipplin evolves a second time). On a 3, pokemon evolves twice, with the split occurring on the third form (i.e. Ralts > Kirlia > Gardevoir OR Gallade). On a 4, pokemon evolves once, but with many variants (i.e. eevee). Roll a d6 to determine number of variants (minimum 3).

#3 Types - d100

Flip a coin/roll a d2 to determine single or dual typing (heads/1 = single type, tails/2 = dual types). For diverging evolutions with dual typing, primary type should usually be the same as the first evolution, however secondary type should be rolled separately for each diverged evolution. For diverging type pokemon with single typing, feel free to roll for each evolution.

Normal = 1-15 Fire = 16-20 Water = 21-25 Grass = 26-30 Electric = 31-35 Ice = 36-40 Fighting = 41-45 Poison = 46-50 Ground = 51-55 * Flying = 56-60 Psychic = 61-65 Bug = 66-70 Rock = 71-75 Ghost = 76-80 Dark = 81-85 Steel = 86-90 Fairy = 91-95 Dragon = 96-100 Pokemon frequently gain additional types as they evolve, so if you roll dual typing, feel free to apply secondary type to evolutions only! * Notes on flying types, the vast vast majority are dual types. If rolling a single type pokemon and landing on flying, roll a d20. On a 1-8, give the pokemon a Normal secondary type. On a 9-18, roll again on the type chart (rerolling if getting flying or normal). On a 19-20, give pure flying type, congrats!!

If you're still stuck for ideas on where to go from here, try using a random animal generator or object generator for additional inspiration!!
