The chain tightened, a tug that wasn't to be ignored. Alastor didn't usually indulge in sleep, finding it a waste of time. But when Lilith called, he had no choice but to obey.

The first thing he noticed upon arriving was himself. Arriving at the same time, each step in perfect synchronization. A sense of screeching feedback with a creature that shared the same frequency he inhabited in close proximity. A slight widening of the eyes, barely perceptible, confusion quickly smothered. A mutual agreement made within the split second of before turning to Lilith with a smile.

Okie so these are my fave characters and shows that make my brain tingle and my heart smile and my stomach excited whenever I just think of them existing. I don’t know what to call them. Comfort characters? Not really. I just love cartoons too much. I don’t watch all of them either. But I’ll always reblog content of them.

Had a round against a Granny Bubba yesterday who may or may not have tried to tunnel, but because we were in the Gideon Meat Plant, I finally managed to lose him. Just not at the place you’d expect. 

I spent like five minutes trying to lose him in the lower levels, hugging corners and leading him into obstacles. But where I actually ended up losing him was around a low-height loop with a pallet, and I’m still not sure how that happened. 

The two possibilities I can think of are that he realized whichever way he tried to go with the chainsaw on that loop, I was going the opposite, and he was probably getting pallet-stunned, OR he actually didn’t know I was still on the other end of that loop, and was revving his chainsaw and going in either direction to try and flush me out. When I didn’t take off running like the fricking pheasant in Bambi, he assumed he’d missed me and I had already Urban Evasion’d somewhere else. (I actually wasn’t running Urban Evasion that round.)

A bit later that round, he got someone else on a hook and may or may not have done some kind of camping fakeout. His terror radius was super loud any time I got anywhere near the hooked survivor regardless of whether I was on the main level or in the lower level, but when I finally decided screw it and went charging in for the rescue, he was nowhere to be found even though the terror radius was still going. At this point, I’m not sure if he was actually camping that Dwight up until shortly before I charged in and just left because he was confident we weren’t coming, or if he’d been chasing someone else nearby and I just thought he was camping. Or if he was hunting on the level directly above or below where I was in order to create the illusion that he was camping.

On a related note, I probably should stop running Streetwise until I’ve completed the “deplete four medkits” challenge. I’ve been exclusively bringing in camping medkits so they’ll run out faster, but since I have the tier 3 Streetwise, I can do a full self-heal with the camping kit and still have a little left over to start healing someone else, and a lot of my teammates have been running Self-Care, so I keep making it out with like two charges left even if I was running Empathy.

But I also don’t want to turn Streetwise off because it is very useful and has gotten me out of quite a few tight spots pretty consistently.

Disney Movies List

Ok first of all I want to make clear that english is not my first language. I therefore apologize in advance for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Please don't be too strict with me =D

I recently bought Disney+ and I plan now to watch and review every movie, Disney has ever produced or participated in it. And I tell you, this will be a hell of a trip, because my list now contains no fewer than 701 movies. That means if I watch at least one movie every day, it will take me about 2 years to see all of them. And since I will most likely not watch a movie every day, I will definitely need at least twice as long....

For the films on my list, which I marked with a cross at the end, it means that I have seen them already. However, since I last saw most of these movies in my childhood or teenage years (so at least 15 years ago), it will be interesting for me to rewatch them after such a long time. I have probably already forgotten most of the plots.

I also plan to watch them in chronological order and rank them. The movies that I don't find on Disney+ I will watch somewhere else.

hey there! i’m rhys. i am 22, live in the ct, and love ooc chatter! my ooc is pretty lax, but i promise my writing is a helluva lot more formal. i write in third person, past/present tense, and paragraph form. im not a rapid-fire writer, and won’t be able to constantly get replies in every day (i can get responses in anywhere between every couple of days to a week or two). however, i will ALWAYS put tlc into all of my posts and characters! i write anywhere between 300-900 words. it’s definitely alright if you don’t feel up to that amount at any given point, but i do appreciate keeping it somewhere in this range. im very wordy, and can spew out a novel if im excited enough lmao

  my limits are pretty general; i will not do beastiality, pedophilia, vore, or scat. i can indulge in a variety of kinks, but if it’s a little much for any average person, i’m less likely to write it out (i.e extreme ddlg or adult babies, furries, extreme pet play, etc.) but i can be persuaded to lightly touch on certain kinks as long as they’re not 10000% filth lmao i cannot, and will not, do seme/uke or top/bottom dynamics. absolutely not. queer relationships shouldn’t be defined by whose taking the D. i dont want to interact with squeamish little femboys, or awful macho men with downright rapey tendencies. versatility is key, and power struggles are what i live for! i will, however, indulge in BDSM dynamics with certain plots— although, domination isn’t always about penetration, you know?

  Office romances/BDSM/Friends with benefits-turned-lovers

okay, so, i had this type of roleplay with someone a while back. maybe more than two or three years back that i fell out of contact with and i could never really get it out of my head because it was probably one of the best character-building stories i’ve ever taken part of. :’) i don’t remember their name, but i do hope they’ll contact me again if they ever see this. while some of this may seem specific, none of it is concrete and i promise i am very easy to get along with and very accomodating! the plot i remember had three different relationships— completely different people, with different lives and different worlds, with only one common thing between them being that they work in the same building. we can do all three, or we can do a few, or even  one! i dont mind.

  **pairing A; M/F preferred (lol i know broke my own rule, but i adore femdoms! extra: please come with an open mind. this is not a 50 shades AU, and i do not want it to be.) this one is between a CEO and an intern in their senior year of college. The CEO is a femdom, and freshly out of divorce, takes a liking to the clumsy intern who’d spilled coffee on her more than once. The intern has never been in a relationship with an older woman, let alone one running a multi-million dollar company, but hey, isn’t that the dream for some broke twenty-something down on his luck? She introduces him to BDSM, and while he’s hesitant, the idea is as exciting as it is frightening. He accepts her offer— while it’s difficult at times, he begins to learn more about her. Her ex-spouse, her young child, and her unwillingness to develop a sincere relationship with him. She’s had subs before, and while she tells him he isn’t disposable, he begins to feel it was the truth. He grows to have feelings for her, and while she isn’t too keen on admitting it, the feeling is mutual. I’d love to explore their dynamic in and out of sex, and the conflict between the intern and her ex-spouse. I love age gaps, and think it would be awesome to see them develop over time to find common ground to establish a personal relationship and trying to even out their power imbalances. I don’t mind playing either the CEO or the intern, but I am leaning more towards the CEO. :V**

  **pairing B; M/M preferred (this one is waaay more gritty and more dub-con than anything so please beware!) this one is between two higher-ups who have been butting heads for years— and occasionally, sexual tension neither have acted on. A is a snarky, openly gay man, and probably what some would consider shallow and noncommittal. B is a brooding, closeted ‘by the book’ type well into his thirties, and refuses to engage in anything sexual with men despite his obvious attraction; B has younger siblings he takes care of as well as his mother, and being the oldest son and only provider, hasn’t done a thing for himself in twenty years. A lives completely alone, complete with a bachelor pad and, the influx of flings that went nowhere past sex, and has risen to the top with his own sheer will. they have conflicting motives, and while both of them have an intense hatred for each other, they’ve never engaged in physical altercations in fear of losing their jobs. one day, A jabs a little below the belt, and finally, B starts swinging. this fight turns into something way more heavy in the company parking lot. what happens between them in the long run is something desperate, needy, and longing for real affection. it began as a mindless need for sex, angry and mean and formal, with B being especially unwilling to ‘give up’ his masculinity and ever be on the receiving end in fear of losing the control he needs to keep this up. i’d love to see them begin to see each other in a different light, and changing each other for the better. i’d also love to see A showing B that sex doesn’t have to be meaningless, and that he doesn’t need to fear letting A be in control. And B showing A that commitment isn’t as terrifying as it may be, with them gradually going from rivals, to friends with benefits, and eventually lovers. i, again, don’t mind writing for either! **

  **pairing C; F/F preferred. (aaa this pairing is way more fluffy and sweet, with hurt/comfort as a stable of their dynamic.) this one is between two small-office employees in the company. A is fairly tame at work in order to support her sibling(s), of which she has adopted from her father’s custody years ago. she is fairly confident with her sexuality, and while not being the type to frequent clubs, is dragged along by a few friends and there, meets B. B is a young woman who just recently got out of a relationship with an abusive ex fiance— B has only ever been with that man, and was never confident in exploring her sexuality due to a religious upbringing and parents who were dead set on traditional values. she’s never strayed from her ex, and while he wasn’t faithful or remotely good to her in return, she was heartbroken with their split. months after, he returns to the city and B’s close friends decide to take her out on a girls’ night to make her feel better— B coincidently sees her ex, and feeling childish and unattractive, heads off to the bar to get a drink. she’s nowhere near a drinker, and just before she does drown her sorrows, is hit on by A. while initially shocked, B is flustered and finds herself immediately attracted to A. they have a one-night stand, and while B believes that A would just leave in the morning, A instead lays with her until she wakes up, and leaves her number. B is too anxious to text her. they bump into each other at the elevator that Monday. they agree to be just friends, until B knows what she wants. A is willing to wait. B might have a crush, and A is intent on building B up to love herself and her body. i would overall prefer to write for A, but if you’re dead set, no prob!**

  Serial killer/1960’s/Small town sheriff

no preferred pairing! would love, love, love to see something between a serial killer and a small town sheriff in the mid-to-late sixties. we could make up a new little town, or find one to our liking! A is the sheriff who had been born and raised in this town with a good home life, loving parents, and a steady moral compass, albeit trapped in a loveless marriage. they know everyone, and every nook and cranny of the place like the back of their hand. this is the type of place where people don’t have to lock their doors at night, or constantly watch their kids when they’re out in the yard playing. that is, until people start going missing and horrifyingly mutilated bodies began to pop up around town. B is a well-liked baker in town; known to be genuinely friendly and kind, B has a very corrupt past. both of their parents were heinously abusive, and as a child, B developed sociopathic tendencies. B was inherently spiteful of the town and the people in it, for leaving them to rot in hell for eighteen years, and for never reaching out. B formed a god complex, his intentions to ‘purify the corrupt’. they keep tabs on almost everyone in town, and the victims they do take are put in the soundproof basement of his home to be ‘baptized’; tortured, beaten, and mutilated beyond recognition. A and B are friendly with each other as A comes to the bakery every morning, with B’s motives completely unbeknownst. one night, A, frustrated and pissed from the dead ends of the case of the decade, decides to head to the bar and relax. B is the one face A didn’t mind seeing that night, and one thing lead to another, with A and B in a dark alley getting each other off— i definitely see this as B grooming A to be a complicit pet, and when A gets closer and closer to figuring out who the killer is, he forms a deep connection with B. B develops a possessiveness over A, along with that sense of ownership he’d established between them. B manipulates A, coerces him into a false sense of security, and eventually— A finds out, and while B initially thinks to kill A, A is corrupted by B and forms some kind of stockholm syndrome for B. it’s up to A on whether or not they turn B in, or cover the killer’s tracks. B, despite his very sick and repulsive nature, develops a true infatuation for A, as close to love as they were ever going to get, and A is desperate enough to please B that they’ll do anything to not disappoint them.

  Post apocalypse/decades later/immunity

no pairing preferred! the plot I had in mind is loosely based off of a video game called "The Last of Us", which i am sure most of you have a general knowledge of! (definitely check it out if you don’t :O it’s a great game!!) the prompt i was shooting for goes something like this; in a post-apocalyptic world where a pandemic has killed off most living species, character A is a lone wolf with little to do with other people that don't benefit him, except for a select few. A is especially rough around the edges, as he's lived through some sick shit and lived to tell the tale. A had once been part of a group dedicated to finding a cure, but things went south, and a lot of people died. A had a close bond with the leader of said group, and coincidentally they were the only survivors. their past together, having been deeply demented and twisted, caused them to fall out. said leader has rebuilt a new group in the ten years since the last time they'd seen A. character B is the only known immune person alive, and has dedicated their life to being a resource to finding a cure. A and his (current) contact/partner in crime have something taken from them, and are determined to get it back. they do some searching, and are confronted with this group-- they have what they need, but are only willing to give it to them for a favor in return. no one can outrun their past forever. so, this plot isn't concrete. things can be changed, we can do whatever we want, and i am happy to comply to any revisions or suggestions! i'd really enjoy taking on A, if that's alright!

  TREASURE HUNTERS/ANCIENT CURSES/LOVE-HATE DYNAMICS/MODERN

treasure hunters!!!! yES!! think Uncharted or Tomb Raider. an architect/treasure hunter is being funded an expedition to find a lost treasure and they are forced to bring along a reporter in order to receive the funds. the reporter and architect certainly dont get along in the beginning— they bicker, and clash on most fronts. the expedition wasnt meant to be dangerous. what was initially thought to be a simple job turned into something treacherous; bandits, a team of hired hitmen and their leader looking to take the treasure for themselves, and some rather supernatural elements that they both couldnt quite put a finger on. the treasure hunter and the reporter have to work together to get out of this alive, and get to the artifact before someone else does. (the “treasure” is definitely up for debate!! we can chose a real life lost treasure, or just make one up!! it can be anywhere around the world, and everything is at our disposal).

  DEMON/INHERITANCE/HUNTERS/MODERN

character A has an awful time living in the city— alone, and without mom's guidance, completely lost. one day they receive a call about a deceased relative, one they'd never heard of, one that apparently left their estate and everything in it in their will to A. with nothing but the clothes on their back, A took a shot in the dark and drove out to this presumed "estate" come early summer, only to find that it's a mansion in a tiny little town with an eerie vibe and populated by the typical small town churchgoers and farm folk. living in this town was a hell of a challenge; everyone was nice, too nice, and people started to go missing. character B is an exceptionally charismatic, charming person and the only mechanic/handyman in town. A and B become friends, partially, when A needs to fix up the piping in their estate. A stumbles upon the attic one day, and for once, they start to get why this whole town reeked to the roots in weird shit-- their deceased relative was tracking something here in this town, having to do with all of the MIA townsfolk. DR has a board of possible suspects, and at the center? B. A shrugs it off as their relative having been paranoid, but the longer A stays in this town, the more apparent it becomes that DR wasnt crazy. B is, in fact, not the murderer, instead a supernatural being (open for debate! im on the fence with demons, vampires, etc.) on a mission to track down the monster, same as DR. i am so down for internal struggles, sweet gestures, and overall, two people just trying to make it work! i could also see A being hella paranoid that B is the monster, and maybe tries to throw cloves of garlic at them only to realize thats not exactly how this monster hunter business works lmao

Part I

Chapter 2: Rene saves a Damsel in Distress

“Ahhhh what year is it?!” I jolt up from the bed and looked over at Nico, his face turning to the window next to us and growling. I groan and turn the light on in the room, throwing a pillow at him when I see that it’s 2 am. “You suck bro.” Getting up, I walk over to peek through the window and that’s when I see it. “What the fuck is a dude sleeping in our back yard?” Nico continues to growl and stare at the window. I could let him in, even though I really shouldn’t since he’s a stranger. As I gaze at the guy, the annoying part of my brain that’s a goody two shoes is nagging at me to help him. Despite it being summer, the nights get pretty cold. He could get sick or he could get attacked by an animal. Ugh to be nice or not to be nice? I mean, if I really think about it, if he tries anything, I could just sick Nico on him. Alright, I’m letting him in.

Throwing on some sweats and grabbing my bat, I head downstairs with Nico in tow. I wonder why that dude is even outside though? Eh, whatever. Putting on my shoes and opening the backyard door, I quickly walk over to the guy. Nico comes over and starts to sniff the guy before looking up at me. When I shine the light from my phone I notice some slime on him. One word: Gross. Using my bat as an extendo arm, I nudge the dude on the shoulder.

“Psst. You drunk?” I whisper, loud enough for him to hear me. Nothing. Seriously? I step closer and that’s when I notice the blood. And more of the slime. I quickly wipe it off my hand and notice that his whole body is covered in it. There’s a thin trail of blood coming from his hairline and he’s knocked the fuck out. Damn, he could have a concussion. I turn the dude over and try to lift him up, ignoring the grossness of the slime on my hands and the faint smell of eggs.

“Jesus, how much does this dude freakin weigh?” Checking out the rest of his body, I see a torn pant leg and lift it up, gasping at the wound and blood pouring out. Fuck, just what the hell happened to this dude? As I struggle to pick him up, Nico starts growling towards the forest. “Nico: Тихо*.” He shuts up after that and the only sound around us other than the animals in the forest is something else. It sends shivers down my spine as I feel the hair on my neck stand up.

The voice is unnatural and looking into the trees I spot the thing making that ungodly sound: a creature on two legs and slimy looking about more than 100 feet away from us. I stop moving and watch, hoping, praying that it’ll go away but FUCK man this sucks. I mean, I could leave this dude and save myself but nah. My morals and guilt would eat me alive and getting attacked by this thing doesn’t look like a good time. So: I’ll save this damsel in distress. He certainly seems like a damsel though, what with that full set of hair and nice face. God, what a pretty boy. Nico doesn’t make a sound or even move and I’ve never been more grateful for training him to be such a good boy. If we make it, I sure as hell was gonna give him a shit-ton of treats and tummy rubs.

After waiting maybe a minute or two, the creepy creature snaps its neck towards a deer not to far from it and starts chasing after it. I could feel my heart racing and almost fall down in relief. As long its not us, screw the deer. Oh god-wait, I hope it doesn’t kill Bambi. Who am I kidding? It’s totally gonna kill Bambi.  You’ll always live through the Disney movie. Ahh, I should focus here, I got this pretty boy with me at the moment.

But really, just what in the mcfuck was that? Could this dude be running away from that abomination? It would explain the slime that he’s covered in but ughh the smell SUCKS. Wait. Checking on the dude again, he still hadn’t woken up but was still breathing. Okay, that’s good but how the hell am I getting his ass inside? At this point he’s not gonna wake up and he ain’t gonna feel anything right?  Guess I’ll just drag him inside.

Grabbing his hands, I start dragging him back inside the house, slowly and quietly as to not make a lot of noise. If that creature comes back, oh it is ON but it’s too early to be throwing hands with something that will definitely kill me. Nico follows us in until I reach the stairs. I lose sight of the big doof I call my dog as I groaned. Gazing down at the dude covered in slime, I debated whether or not to wipe the slime off before or after the stair climb. Pro to him being slimed up: he could slide up the stairs with ease and less effort. Con: he’d get slime all over the wooden steps and I’d have to clean it up anyways. Not to mention the possibility of me slipping on my ass down the steps in the morning. Okay, not covered in slime it is.

Sitting him up against the stair railing, I run to grab a towel. It got me thinking: Even after I bring him up, what next? A bath right? I mean, I wouldn’t want to wake up smelling like trash plus I should try to clean his head wound and that wound on his leg. Heading back and kneeling next to him, I start wiping him down, gentle of his head. I briefly lift the torn pant leg, thankful it’s not bleeding again.

The only bedrooms are all upstairs and this guy could really use a nice bed and a serious bath cause oof. Looking at him though, my heart tugged at him. I mean, what kind of shitty luck did you have to have in order to get knocked out, cut his leg and a possible concussion? I couldn’t stop the sigh escaping my lips.

“Oh well, wondering isn’t gonna get me anywhere, up the stairs we go.”

*Тихо= Quiet in Russian. Rene taught Nico command words in different languages so that Nico would listen to certain people like her and her aunt.

Quoting a Physicist...

January 2 Coming up with a title for this post was almost as hard as deciding to blog at all. Then I remembered a favorite quote, actually, it's a book title, from Richard Feynman, the physicist. He wrote "What Do You Care What Other People Think?" I recommend the book, and I would like to embrace the sentiment... because I really should care less what other people think. Far too much of my blog slow-down is a result of being concerned about criticism from certain people over what I write, don't write, overshare, and take interest in. There it is. I have grappled with remarks and accusations that directly admonish, accuse, ridicule, and criticize me and my social media presence. And it has just about shut me down completely... here, on FB, emotionally, physically. It's made a hard year (or three) even harder; quite crap, in fact. I have been introspective, and confounded, self-critical, embarrassed, and apologetic. And I have been miserable. And the thing is... as concerned and inward-looking as I have been, as much as I've worked to assess my values, efforts, narrative, presence, it occurs to me that the critics aren't here. The critics don't hang out with me, or know me... they aren't involved in our daily lives, and I am not calling on them to bail me out, or asking them to 'like' my posts, fight my battles, sing my praises. I've been waiting... waiting to see what shutting-up could yield, waiting to see if those critics would like me better, find me more worth their time and interest, if I just backed-off, sat back, made myself smaller. I can't deny it... I want to be liked and likable, I want to be successful, admirable, especially to the people I have liked and admired all of my life. But, it's no good trying to be someone else, hoping to be the kind of whatever that makes me appealing to them. It's no good not being me, however objectionable, loud, messy, weird, liberal, or sensitive people see me as being. Either I am the embodiment of my body, mind and soul, my interests, skills, and ambitions, or I am nothing. I have cared a great deal too much what other people think, and it's made me small and despondent, meager... my soul feels gaunt. And the critics? They're just people with their own bodies and souls, agendas, and ideals, and they're carrying on, living, believing what they do, and I am not stopping them. But I want to take back my will, and a sense of self-worth that is not so dependent on what other people think. In the time that I have been quieter, smaller, I have noticed that the people who do care, who are here, who can accept my good and bad parts, they see me. They aren't showing up out of obligation, or begrudgingly. They aren't asking me to be anyone else, act like someone else, be less than my own self. I used to still worry about what I could lose by showing my dance, singing my songs, being myself. I pay too much attention to the ones who don't like me... demonstrative, over-sharing, objectionable, loud, messy, weird, liberal, sensitive, clumsy, uncool me, and I want this to change. Time is running out, and I don't want to waste any more of it worrying what other people think... January 3 Our winter break has been sweet. And bittersweet. I miss so much of what, whom, we lost. I miss my Grandmother, terribly. "Terribly" is that adjective that we use, a figure of speech. But now, I think I know it better. The missing, the longing and sadness and deep grief I feel is dire and unspeakable, awful, and grave... it is terrible to feel so emotional, to have such a longing for what cannot be, can never be. I won't speak of it, cannot speak of it, but the truth is: I am inconsolable. And it's not much better with Mister Washburn Foo. And so, you see... our holidays, and liberties, company, the lights on the tree, the carols, and old movies, the spirit of Christmas has been sweet, but always with the unspeakable terribleness that I cannot seem to cope with. My Instagram page is all cats and sketchbooks, flowers in the garden, and an almost insatiable yearning to see beauty, to hold it, and feel it, and make any of it that I possibly can. January 4 January 5 January 6 He's a junior! Being more emotional than rational, I cannot understand how this is possible, already. I am sure if I would look at a calendar, add units, and count months, it would all make sense. But just going by my feelings, it seems so soon. He'll be starting a last semester of classes to pass the time, while he waits to hear from the school he hopes to transfer to, then he can be a math major, like he always wanted. January 7 The day after Christmas we set off a chain reaction that is, to do this day, sending shock waves through the Bird House... *Chango cannot retract his old man claws, and he made a tear in our bed sheet. *The tear grew, and made the sheet a total loss. *I decided to wash the mattress pad cover, while the sheets were off... and realized the foam pad was awful. Gross. etc *After 23 years, we decided that buying another foam pad was a waste, if we were only covering a horrible mattress. *We were reminded that our king bed is "eastern" and Costco only sells "western" and so we had to go to Ikea. *I fell deeply, spinally, horizontally in love with a mattress, and all of my economical and rational inhibitions were dashed! *Ikea promised next day delivery! *We had to race home and clean our room. *I got the harebrained notion to finally arrange our furniture the way I had been dreaming and imagining and plotting to do for seven years... and that entailed huge, huge, huge upheaval and lugging, which Geoff could only observe, because he's still in recovery from surgery. *Things and parts and stuff shifted from our room, out of the hall, down the stairs, and throughout the house, in preparation for removal of the old mattress, and the arrival of the really big, new one. *I chased dust bunnies from here to the curb, for what felt like days. *The new mattress (even without a real boxspring) is so ginormous, that we can hardly see the headboard or the footboard, and I was afraid of falling from the bed... but I love it. I love it. I love it. I think I am even getting stronger abs from launching myself up to get into it. *I love it. I love it. I love it. *There has been sleep. You guys, I am tearing up a little. Actual sleep. This was the little family meeting we were having about a very special visit, and Alex and Max having their wisdom teeth pulled. I got another harebrained idea, and each of them were about to have four wisdom teeth removed, because I thought it would be easier to get all done at once. Sorry, boys. The Very Special Visit! Max, Tamsyn, Maria, William, Alex, and Bambi. Tamsyn! From Virginia, no from Edinburgh, wait, no, from Paris, by way of India! It's been way too long since we last saw her. She's in graduate school, in Paris, and while on break, she came to California, and this moment... seeing these children together, it made my heart overflow, and feel so thankful and joyful. I will win that contest with this entry. No pictures of Alex and Max, home from the oral surgeon. No video, either. It was rough, and they were dear, sweet patients, that would have loved to spend a better quality of time with Tamsyn, while on their school break. January 10 Do you do this? Accommodate a pampered fluff nugget when he won't get off the bed, so you make the bed around his fluffy butt? Apparently, it's what I do. And then I take a picture and share it on Instagram. It's who I am, it's what I do. Maria was inspired by the birthday card Belinda gave me... from when I turned fifty. The original photograph was taken in Venice, 1952, by Georges Dambier, of Francoise Dambier. Maria's drawing... well, it just keeps getting better and better. And I guess it's not a surprise, considering how much she practices and studies. And the best part is... she enjoys it. Tamysn was such an easy going guest. And really, more like one of the family than a visitor. It was so nice to have the kind of visit where ordinary pastimes and relaxed time together was the order of each day. And she made us dinner! A fabulous Indian dinner. How good? So good that we had her make everything, again, the next night, so William could learn the recipes. (Still recovering, Alex opted to be out of the picture. But he did love the soft, vegetarian meal.) I miss her singing. So much. When we were neighbors, when she was like one of my own, we had the regular enjoyment of her singing. I think Chango remembered her, just at this moment. He is very hard of hearing, but if you could see how he watched her, and moved closer and closer, peering into her face... I know he was remembering her. And. I kept thinking, Mister Foo is going to walk over here, any minute. He loves music, and singing. And I kept waiting, thinking, Where is that Foo? It was only later, I recalled, he's gone. January 11 Tamsyn, and Mister Foo, and old blog posts... this is why I had to come back here, and post, again, so I would have more stories to look back on, more memories to revisit, plans to recall, moments to share. Years from now, I don't want to find that I was too shy to write something down, too conservative to discuss an idea, or self-conscious to post a photograph. I could do this in a paper journal, and leave it on a shelf, I know. But Tamsyn is in Paris, and so is Grant. And my Mom is in Oregon, and other family is in Wisconsin, and I have a friend in Massachusetts, others in Australia, one in England, another in Spain, and it's nice to stay in touch, to hear from them, and let them have some glimpses of how we are getting on. It was really dear finding old pictures, and details from ordinary days when we lived next door to Tamsyn, when we tried new things together, and shared adventures, even from other times when we had to say farewell. January 14 Maybe, Chickenblog will just become a Cat Blog, with loads of expressive cat photos. Maybe, I'll post artsy photographs of chamomile tea, the damp texture like a watercolor painting, and I'll add a few lines of obtuse poetry about dappled sunlight on winter mornings. Or I could write long essays about the nature of art, and ratastic expressionism in the modern era. Something. I think I will keep doing something, here. January 15 Cairo had it coming. Now I need to take care of laundry. It's okay if you didn't read all of this post, if you only skimmed through the pictures. It's okay if you think blogging is weird or obsessive, or pointless, but... please, no need to mention that to me.
