Why was it so important? 

Incredulous, Ben glowered at the woman, holding out his hand in agitated expectance. “It’s important because it’s mine,” he growled out in reply. It was perhaps not the best answer to give; no, he knew it wasn’t. This stranger seemed intent on stealing from him simply because he desired what was in her hand. His carelessness had allowed her to abscond with it, and now she seemed to believe it was worth something... And it was -- just not in the way she was hoping.

“Madam, I’m not going to ask you again,” Ben warned. She wasn’t going to make him beg, was she? Or worse yet, tackle her to the ground for the intelligence? He certainly had his principles, but he was not beneath fighting for what was necessary. Not even with a woman.
