Concept coming home
I smiled as I gently woke to the sweet sounds of well not much, no sounds of people's busy with their business, all of it drowned out by the sweet sounds of the rain battering our little wooden house I could listen to that sound for hours. Rain happened to rarely in the new Mexico desert but it was always heavenly when it did a sound of battering the wooden houses, of the silencing of work, of the trees and plants being given there likely monthly rations of rain. The sweet smell of dust in rain. I could feel the sweet warmth of the fire slowly glowing it wouldn't be long till it extinguished itself completely. I heard the door and I didn't even look I knew who it was. Moment later the bed shifted and moved as he climbed on slipping his rough hand into my own "good mornin'" he whispered
I smiled slowly opening my eyes seeing the sweet sight.
He sat on our bed still dressed as usual his boots taken off by the door, socks on the floorboards, his pants tight to his every skinny inch, his gunbelt off around the dinning chair, his shirt on buttoned up perfectly and his jumper over him, his hair allow to hang loose where it needed a trim and a wash, his smile wide as he saw me wake
"Hi whitey"
"Hi" he smiled, bringing my hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss there "did ya have a nice sleep?"
"I did. But I'm happier now I'm awake"
"Why?"
"Three guesses" I smiled "come here my darling deputy" I smiled tugging him into bed for a cuddle which he happily obliged nuzzling with me holding me tight peppering my skin with his trademark scratchy kisses "I miss you"
"I know. I miss ya too." He says softly into my hair "of snuggle with my little honey bun all day everyday if I could."
"I know I just miss you when you work so much"
"Ya welcome to come stay with me in the office ya know that"
"Still."
"When bill gets back I'll make sure I'm home with my honeybun. I don't like bein' Say from you this much either" he says
"What did you get up to?"
"Nothin'. Cells are empty. Nothin' goin' on. Just sat in that damp old uncomfortable chair all night tryin' to keep my eyes open"
"Ohh maybe I should have come and brought you some soup"
"Ummm that would have been heavenly, maybe another night"
"I'll make a note of it"
"Could I make a request for tonight?"
"You may"
"Maybe… your famous quail and veg soup?"
"Alright"
"Yeah?"
"Of you'd like it whitey"
"Yes!" He muttered to himself "thank you honey bun"
"Your welcome. Got to make sure your as comfy as you can be locked in that old office all night. I imagine you get lonely"
"I do. I always feel lonely when I don't sleep beside ya." He says "but I'm here now. And I wanna savor every last moment" he Cooes pulling me into a soft kiss I happily kissed him back before pull back and nuzzling into his chest but I tugged on his jumper making him playfully roll his eyes sitting up slipping his jumper and shirt off leaving his chest bare laying on his back and open his arms "where is my honey bun"
"Here you silly boy" I giggled nuzzling into his bare warm chest "I love you"
"Love ya more" he says kissing my head "come on I'm tried from bein' in the office all night"
"Okay" I smiled tucking the covers around us tightly "sleep tight whitey"
"I'll do my best. So long as I have you to cuddle I'll be fine" he Cooes squeezing me a little tighter

Trouble In Paradise (Literally)
Chapter 3: Reign
“Maggie!” She all but exclaimed when she saw the shorter woman.
“Kara!” Maggie exclaimed as well and made her way towards Kara. “Have you found your necklace?”
Kara nodded far too quickly that she felt a bit dizzy but she paid no mind to it. She focused on the task at hand itself. “I did but, nevermind that. I need to tell you something important.”
“Shoot.” Maggie said and focused her attention towards the blonde as the latter laid the key points of their plan.
After Kara’s explanation, there was a glint of excitement within Maggie’s eyes as she grinned. “Let’s do this.”
Kara grinned at the short woman before an attendant arrived and whisked her away for her scheduled therapy.
After Kara had her conversation with Maggie, the three of them didn’t get the chance to spend some time together anymore that day. They were assigned to some individual activities- which was odd for the blonde because it was the first time they did it- that took their time and made them busy. The hours passed in a blur and before they knew it, it was already dinner. They then regrouped at their usual table. They all shared a knowing look and gave each other a subtle nod before they start to dig in their dinner.
“May I have everyone’s attention, please?” The head of the attendants spoke and all attention were turned towards him, even the trio’s. When he was satisfied that he got everyone’s attention, he continued.
“Once in a blue moon, one of our residents have been so receptive to what we offer that she’s ready to rejoin her loved ones sooner… than expected.” He announced. “Let us all congratulate our very own… Lena Luthor. She would be brought back to her family tonight after dinner.”
The claps of their fellow residents were dulled as Kara felt like she was plunged deep underwater. Her blood ran cold and the color was drained on her face at what she had just heard. She looked at her friends and they both mirrored her expression.
No. Kara thought. This is far too much to be a coincidence.
“A toast, everyone. To Lena.” The head attendant raised his champagne flute and nodded at their direction- or more precisely, toward Lena’s direction.
A chorus of “to Lena” was heard all over the garden as they all took a sip of their drink- though it wasn’t champagne like the attendants have, of course. Lena gave them a smile but Kara saw how one of her eyes twitch as she stood up and made her way towards the comfort room, nodding politely at those who congratulated her.
“Mags…” Kara quietly called out to the shorter woman as she looked at her. Maggie turned towards the blonde and she looked as baffled as Kara herself.
“Go.” Maggie whispered and it was all Kara needed to drink the contents of her cup without actually swallowing it and followed Lena.
When she got inside the comfort room, she immediately spat the drink that was in her mouth on the sink and Lena was immediately at her side, tucking her hair so that it doesn’t get wet with the drink and her spit. After she got rid of it all, she engulfed Lena in a tight hug which the brunette returned without missing a beat.
“Kara… Kara, listen to me, okay?” The brunette partially detached herself from the blonde as she cupped Kara’s face and looked directly at Kara’s sapphire orbs. “You and Maggie are going to take that boat. It’s yours now, you hear me?”
“But how will I find you?” Kara asked as she stared back at Lena’s emerald ones.
Lena pondered for a moment before taking something out of her pocket. The brunette then grabbed Kara’s hand and placed a dark purple that was bordering black glittering rock at her palm.
Kara gasped at how beautiful the rock looked though she couldn’t help but stare at the rock with confusion. “What is this?”
“It’s something that I made myself. Show this to my secretary and tell her that I sent you.” Lena answered softly, a small smile gracing her lips. “You promise we’ll all be together again, right?”
I promise I’ll find you. “I promise.”
Lena rested her forehead on Kara’s for a second before leaning in close to give a soft and delicate kiss on Kara’s lips. Kara closed her eyes as she savored the feel of Lena’s soft lips and before Kara knew it, Lena already pulled away. It was too short for Kara’s liking but at the same time, it was sweet and it made her heart flutter and it made her breath fast. She knew right then and there that she was feeling something for Lena that definitely isn’t platonic. It was something more and she found it quite unfair that it was only short lived. Just when she had figured things out, Lena was already being snatched away from her and it broke her heart to millions of pieces.
“I’ll see you there, okay?” Lena asked while she caressed Kara’s hair down to her cheek, sounding hopeful and Kara found herself nodding almost automatically. There was then a loud knock- or a banging, rather- which startled both women and making them jump and look at the door’s direction.
“Lena, it’s time to go.” An attendant announced.
“Yeah, uh… I’m coming. Just a sec.” Lena informed the attendant and turned her gaze back towards the blonde. Kara did the same. She could see the longing in the brunette’s eyes and she can’t help but to pull Lena again for one last hug.
“Be safe.” Lena whispered and Kara let herself cry. Let herself to show weakness in front of the brunette. She realized that this could probably be the last time she could ever get to hold Lena like this. She could promise to find the brunette, but there wasn’t any certainty that she would even be able to reach Lena with a ten foot pole given who Lena’s family actually were and who Lena actually is. Lena was- is a CEO of a multi-billionaire company while she was just a journalist who’s slightly obsessed with art. The outside world is far different from the ones that they currently have in this small island.
The hug lasted for a few more seconds before Lena reluctantly pulled away, wiping Kara’s tears as she gave the blonde one last kiss on the forehead and made her way towards the door. The brunette casted one last melancholic glance at the blonde before finally exiting the premises and Kara slowly slumped on the floor, biting her lower lip to prevent ant noise coming from her as she cried.
It wasn’t long then when someone entered the room in a hurry and a retching sound could be heard but Kara couldn’t find herself to care as she stared blankly at the floor, letting her tears fall freely. All she could think of was Lena and how stupid she was not to realize that she was already falling for the brunette. Kara cursed herself internally for being too focused with James that she didn’t even bother to check her other emotions. It’s not like she and James were still even together anymore.
She knew she had been spacing out, or more likely that she was too engrossed with her own thoughts, because the next thing she knew was that there were arms that were wrapped around her and she could hear a sniff coming from beside her. She turned her head and she wasn’t surprised to find Maggie on her side.
Though Maggie’s expression was more schooled than hers was, Kara could still see the devastation dancing in her glossy eyes.
“We’ll find her. I know we will. Everything will be fine.” Maggie whispered softly, trying to reassure the blonde.
Kara just nodded silently as she held onto Maggie like the shorter woman was her last lifeline. Like she was afraid that if she let go, Maggie would also be taken away from her and Kara was beyond terrified at the thought.
**
Bed time came and she found herself wide awake. No grogginess. No lulling her to sleep. Nothing.
“So, Lena was right about them drugging us every night.” Kara uttered softly, knowing fully well that, if the retching sound and the spitting back at the comfort room was any indication, her roommate was just as awake as she was even though she was facing the other side.
Maggie huffed an air of what seemed to be amusement. “Lena’s a genius. Of course, she was right.”
Kara smiled sadly at the thought of Lena but she decided not to wallow in sorrow and focus on how to get out of the facility or the island itself to be precise. The sooner she gets out of here, the sooner she will be able to find Lena.
“You think we can really escape this place?” Kara asked with uncertainty as she turned to face Maggie.
The shorter woman gave her a reassuring smile as she nodded solemnly. “Of course, we can. All you need to have is faith, Kara. Now… are you ready?”
“Alright.” The blonde breathed out a sigh as she returned Maggie’s smile. “I guess I’m ready as I’ll ever be.”
“Let’s go.”
They both sprung up from their mattresses quietly and started to sneak out of their room. When they saw that the hallway was clear, they moved swiftly towards the direction of the main entrance. They treaded carefully because it was quite dark. There were lights but they were dimmed and only little of the moon’s light entered the facility through its glass doors and windows.
Just when they were about to turn in a corner, someone grabbed them which made them scream but only muffled sounds came when someone clamped a hand on their mouth.
“Shh! Hey, hey. It’s me!” A familiar voice tried to shush their screams and when Kara adjusted her focus on the person in question, her eyes widened in recognition when she saw that it was Winslow, the attendant. He then slowly took his hand away from their mouth when they have seemed to calm down.
“Winslow… what are you- I mean, a-are you here to turn us in?” Kara stammered in fear and she pleaded. “Please don’t.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t and I’m not here to turn you two in.” He reassured her. “And you can just call me Winn.”
“Alright, Winn.” Maggie eyed the attendant warily. “Why did you stop us?”
“Because if I didn’t, you two would be in a big trouble. There’s a camera right around the corner.” Winn explained. “If security catches you, then that’s it. You’re done.”
“Why are you helping us?” Kara couldn’t help but ask the young attendant.
Winn just then gave her an apologetic smile before answering. “I told you. I don’t trust the way they run this facility.”
“And how exactly do they run this facility?” It was Maggie’s turn to ask and the answer Winn gave them made Kara feel sick.
“A bit of drugging and lots of brainwashing.”
“Fucking hell…” Maggie cursed under her breath. “I knew it.”
“You should go back to your rooms for now. It’s too late to do something about the cameras.” Winn uttered. “Also, my partner’s about to patrol this area and there would also be another pair on your rooms so you should really hurry back to your rooms. I’ll do something about those cameras tomorrow and then both of you will be good to go.”
“How can we know that we can trust you?” Maggie asked again, still skeptic.
“If I wanted you to be caught, you both wouldn’t be standing here anymore. You just have to have faith, Miss Sawyer.” Winn answered, his smile never faltering and Kara remembered that Maggie just told her the exact same thing earlier. “Now go.”
As if on cue, they heard footsteps coming their way and Maggie immediately sprinted back to their rooms with the blonde following behind. As she was about to reach the entrance of their designated room, Kara knew that the attendants were already about to round the corner of their hallway and she tripped and fell. Of all the instances for her to be a klutz, she really picked the very wrong time. Maggie on the other hand had already opened their door and was beckoning for her to hurry up.
For someone so short, she could definitely run so fast. Kara managed to joke on her head despite the situation she was in.
Maggie ran back towards her and tried to help her but Kara stopped her.
“Drop.” Kara whispered urgently as she slumped on the ground and Maggie followed suit without hesitation just in time before the attendants had fully rounded on their hallway.
“What are they doing here?” One of them asked in suspicion.
Kara’s palms went clammy and her heart was pounding loudly as the two attendants approached. It was so loud she feared that the pair that was approaching them could hear her heart.
“The sedative’s sometimes slow.” The second one informed the first. “It must’ve hit them when they were on their way to the bathroom.”
“Should we take them to the processing room?”
“No. It’s not their time, yet.”
Kara felt arms behind her knees and across her shoulders and she was slowly lifted up. She could feel the attendant moving- walking- towards somewhere that she could only assume to be their room and after an agonizing minute, she felt the soft material of her mattress on her back and the sound of a closing door. She risked a peek at the said door and let out a sigh of relief when they were indeed left alone to themselves again.
“Well that was eventful.” Maggie commented.
“It was totally my fault.” Kara said, taking the blame. “If I had just been very careful-“
“Hey.” Maggie cut her off. “Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
“Just let me feel bad about it, Mags.”
Maggie huffed. “Fine. But, you know what? I’m betting everything I have that the processing room is where they do the brainwashing.”
“Your guess is just as good as mine.” The blonde muttered then she covered her face with her pillow to muffle her groan. “I’m really getting out of here.”
Maggie then chuckled softly. “I’ll be right behind you, Zor-El.”
**
“Do I really have to watch that crappy video again?” Kara couldn’t help but to roll her eyes at the attendants that were escorting her to a room which she frequented and had called it “the room of disgust” by now. All they played was Mike’s video every other day and on loop so, yeah. What’s not to disgust?
The attendants ignored Kara’s question (as usual) as the fumbled on the projector and busied themselves in preparing the video.
“Ugh.” Kara made a sound of disgust and rolled her eyes again. “Rude much?”
When they were done, Kara prepared herself for another half an hour Mike consisting video loop.
If you all think that what you’re doing is ingraining in my mind, well you all are wrong. Joke’s on you idiots.
Kara was ready but what they played wasn’t the one she expected. This one she can say was an extremely low blow and a look of shock painted her face. Then her shock slowly turned into sorrow and, eventually, anger.
Tears threatened to escape her eyes as she glared menacingly at the attendants. “Are you fucking with me right now?! Turn it off!”
Kara wasn’t a huge fan of cursing but she couldn’t care any less as to what vile words were spilling out of her mouth. She tried to stand but a firm hand was planted on her shoulders, keeping her on her seat. Now, even though she was already practically screaming in anger, the attendants kept ignoring her as the compiled video played again and again and again, constantly going on loop.
Kara was still glaring daggers at the attendants but she couldn’t help but hear her family’s voice, their laughter accompanied by hers on screen and when she casted her gaze upon the projected video, she saw her mother’s smile as her thirteen year-old version was skipping across their living room. Her father was nowhere to be found on the screen but he was there. He was the one filming the video. They were really happy. Kara remembered that specific day… because that was the day before the death of her parents. The facility also got ahold of the news clip where its headline was the tragedy where a drunken truck driver had rammed a car which consisted of a family. A mother, a father, and their only daughter who turned out to be the only sole survivor of the crash… and that was her and her family.
When the video of the funeral came, Kara can’t keep the tears from falling anymore as she remembered the pain of losing them. The pain of knowing that she won’t be able to see, touch or hold them again. And the pain of knowing that she would be left alone. Every emotion was stirred inside of her and this was too much for her.
After one more loop, the attendants stopped playing the video and as soon as it stopped, Kara stood and shoved them.
“What the fuck is wrong with you people?!” She bellowed. “Isn’t it enough that you’re keeping us here and imprisoned?!”
“Miss Zor-El, we suggest that you calm down.” One of the attendants calmly stated.
“Calm?” Kara let out a humorless laugh. “You expect me to be calm after that? Well guess what? Fuck you and your facility! This place is a lie and I’m not gonna let myself stay here any longer!”
Before the attendants could even stop her, Kara already rushed out of the room as she wiped her tears furiously. She didn’t need to look behind her to know that the attendants were trailing behind her so she started to sprint.
“Miss Zor-El, stop!” An attendant demanded but the blonde didn’t bother to turn around and had just blatantly ignored him.
Kara did successfully got out of the building but was immediately cornered by half a dozen of attendants as soon as she had stepped a few feet away from the entrance. She tried to run past them but she found it impossible. She could dodge one but then another blocks her path. The attendants flanking Kara had grabbed both of her arms and Kara thrashed with all her might and screamed in protest when they started to drag her somewhere.
“Please stop resisting, Miss Zor-El.” One of the attendants pleaded halfheartedly. “We don’t want to hurt you.”
Kara, being a stubborn one, unheeded the attendant’s plea and continued thrashing. When they passed the gardens, she heard a scream.
“Kara! What are you going to do to her?!” Maggie screamed at the attendants as she made her way towards the blonde, only for her way to be blocked by a pair of attendants that was stopping her from getting closer to Kara. “Let her go!”
“Maggie!” Kara called out in desperation as she was dragged away from Maggie when she caught sight of another familiar face.
“Winn! Please help me!” She called out to the young attendant who was looking at her with regret and he slowly averted his gaze away from the blonde.
Kara’s rage was even more intensified as she saw that there was nothing she could do and no one would be able to help her but her rage wasn’t enough to escape the grasp of the attendants that were flanking her. Even though she knew by now that she had no chance of escaping them, she still continued to thrash wildly just to make it hard for them. She was eventually led to the room where she had woken up to on her first day on the island. The blonde was pushed towards the bed and was forced to sit on it then they left her there all alone and locked from the outside. Again, she was in the very same room feeling lost… and now, hopeless.
There she uttered a silent apology to Maggie. If she hadn’t been so brash a while ago, this would never have happened... or that’s what she would like to think. She blamed herself for acting so irrational. Yes, her act was and could be justified but still, it was totally uncalled for especially when they have a plan that she could’ve jeopardized because of her acts. More importantly, she apologized silently to Lena. It might take her a bit longer to find the brunette. Long enough for her to think that Kara might have forgotten about her and her promise… and that was part of what Kara was afraid of.
A few minutes- or possibly hours, she couldn’t really tell- later, the door opened and there were a pair of attendants who entered the room. They strode across the room, wordlessly placing a plate and a cup, which Kara assumed was her meal, on the side table and left. The blonde glared at the door where they just entered and exited a few seconds ago then averted her glare towards the meal they served. She kicked the table, causing for the drink o spill a bit then there was a screech from the speaker which made her cover her ears, wincing at the pain where the sound made.
“Why won’t you touch your meal, little one?” Reign’s voice, much to her surprise, filled the room. “Don’t make this anymore harder for you.”
“To hell with you all.” Kara was seething in anger but she was restraining herself. She won’t give them the satisfaction that they were already getting on her last nerve.
“My, my. Such temper. You know, Kara, the more you resist, the longer you stay here.” Reign stated. “You wouldn’t want that, would you? Do as you are told and we will let you join your loved ones sooner.”
There was another painful screech, which made her wince again, and Kara knew that her conversation with Reign was over. She then sighed as she downed the contents of the cup and just lay on the bed. The blonde thought that she might as well just sleep on this whole ordeal. It’s not like she had been given much of a choice anyway.
Kara stared at the ceiling for a couple of minutes, waiting for the drug to kick in and when it did, her eyelids drooped slowly and she had let herself succumb to sleep.
**
“Kara dearest.” A tall and beautiful woman with brown eyes - which could definitely rival Lena’s beauty, much as she hates to admit it- who was sitting near at the edge of the pond while reading a book stood and greeted the blonde with a warm smile as soon as she arrived at a part of the garden near the pond. Kara would definitely bet a hundred bucks that the pond was artificial no matter how “natural” it looked like. And why was there a mirror situated between two chairs?
“How are you adjusting?” The woman asked with genuine curiosity.
“Great. I’ve always wanted to go to a place where you can just relax and meditate so this is kinda like a dream come true.” Kara answered, tone dripping with sarcasm.
Though it didn’t go unnoticed, the woman just sat back and looked at Kara with what seems to be concern. “Well, I certainly hope we can change that for you.”
“Please sit and face the mirror.” Her attendant spoke behind her.
She was confused as to why she needed to face the mirror. Was it really necessary? Maybe it was. This was a therapy session after all.
“Please sit down.” The attendant repeated again, stepping forward as if he was about to force her to but the woman, though she still had a smile plastered on her face, gave him a cold glare which made him stop in his tracks. Even Kara had the chills when she saw the woman’s expression and this reminded her of a wolf. Just absolutely terrifying but beautiful.
The woman jerked her head, a signal which he immediately understood. He gave her a nod and stepped back at a respectable distance from Kara and the latter just stared at the woman. She can’t seem to tear her gaze away from those brown eyes. In truth, she was in awe how one second those eyes were full of warmth then voided and cold the next and she decided that she didn’t want to be the receiving end of it.
“Kara, I know that you think that this isn’t the place for you and you may be right.” The woman said when she turned her attention back towards the blonde. “But I’m asking you to please cooperate with-“
“With you and your ridiculously weird attendants?” Kara interjected, cutting off whatever it was that the woman was about to say. “Reign, you know that there is nothing wrong with me!”
The woman’s mouth slightly hanged open in surprise at Kara’s raised voice but not too long when a smile was formed on her lips and huffed out of amusement. Reign then patted the seat in front of her which this time Kara obliged and sat on it without any protest.
“We are our best when we are truly ourselves. Can we agree on that?” Reign asked.
“I suppose.” Kara answered.
“Mirror therapy is about owning your story. It’s about remembering what makes you, well… you. Only the things that you would know.” There was a long pause and when Reign was sure that Kara wasn’t going to give her input, she continued. “Tell yourself a story of who you really truly are.”
“Wait… You want me to talk to myself?” Kara asked in disbelief.
Reign shrugged. “Well, you don’t seem to enjoy talking to me.”
“Touché.” Kara muttered though if this was a different circumstance, she might enjoy Reign’s company and how the way the woman speaks. Not to mention that she is also gorgeous and- Kara assumes- smart, say in the business and medical field. But sadly, this wasn’t a different circumstance.
“How about this…” The woman gave her a pat on the knee. “I’ll ask you a question and answer only if you want to, okay?”
Kara thought about it and this option was definitely much better than being forced to answer and talk about anything and everything private or not so she just gave Reign a shrug and the woman gave her another smile, obviously satisfied.
Kara jolted awake when she heard the door open abruptly and her gaze landed on a pair of attendants entering the room which made her sit immediately.
“Good morning, Miss Zor-El.” One of them greeted her.
She was about to ask when will she be able to get out of this godforsaken room when the two grabbed both of her arms and dragged her out.
“What are you doing? Where are you taking me?!” She alarmingly asked as she thrashed violently in hopes of escaping their grasps which was, of course, futile.
“Ow!” She yelped in pain when the attendants tightened their grip on her arms. “Let me go!”
As always- and Kara had already been expecting it- the attendants ignored her and just dragged her to wherever the hell they were dragging her. The path they were taking her was actually familiar to the blonde and it was enough for her to stop struggling as her heart pounded really hard.
They have reached a double door made of glass with some sort of, what Kara could only assume (because to assume is what she could only do best here) to be, gold on its edges and shoved Kara inside the room and left her alone.
Then when she looked around, it hit her. The room was what Kara had remembered. It was still the same since the first time- and what she had hoped to be the last which apparently isn’t- that she had been there and she couldn’t be mistaken. Where is now is, indeed, Reign’s office.
Inside was spacious and a really good view of the sea could be seen in its wide glass window. A couch was situated at the center of the room and a mini table in front of it. Though there was a bookshelf at one corner, there were still stacks of books found on one of the tables as well as documents and papers but what captured her attention the most was the video, which seemed to be a live footage that was playing on the wide screen TV on the wall near the office table.
Kara’s eyes widened in surprise and her breath hitched when she saw Lena on the screen standing on a podium and giving some sort of speech about her company’s recent development and there was a man standing beside her but Kara couldn’t care any less about the man. Her focus was solely on Lena and how fascinating the brunette still was even on screen.
When Lena’s speech ended, there was a close-up shot of her. This made Kara smile a bit as she unconsciously lifted an arm to reach out for the brunette’s face, only to find out by the time that her hand had landed on the screen, much to her shock, the brunette kissed the man beside her. Everything was like a slow motion as Kara saw how happy Lena looked and all Kara could do was to look down and let out a silent sob. She couldn’t let herself watch any longer without hurting herself.
To say that she was hurt might have probably been an understatement. She was feeling a whole lot of it. She couldn’t believe what she had just seen. Kara felt like her insides were turned upside down and her heart was being clenched tightly, making it hard to breathe.
Hurt… Jealousy… Envy… Remorse… These pretty much sums up everything that Kara was feeling right now.
She was hurt by how fast Lena had gotten over her when the brunette just left a couple of days ago. She felt jealous and envy of the man that made Lena happy when it should be her who makes the brunette happy. Remorse because she should have never taken Lena for granted.
She cursed herself internally. Of course, Lena would find someone new or, if not new, someone who has been waiting for her all along. It’s not like she had shown any interest towards the brunette before and Lena probably thought that the kiss meant nothing but a parting gesture from her.
Just when she had turned her focus back on the screen, someone grabbed her by the shoulder and though it was just gentle, she was still taken by surprise which made her jump and whirl around as she accidentally backhanded the one who had just grabbed her, making the person crash on a desk. When she had realized whom she had just hit, her shock was doubled.
She had just hit Reign.
Kara was rooted on her spot when she saw spots of blood on the broken mirror that was on the desk. Apparently that was where the woman had landed.
Reign stood up and slowly turned to face Kara properly, and Kara swore that there was a flash of anger that dawned on Reign’s face before it had quickly disappeared. “Well, that was an interesting way to welcome someone.”
“I- I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.” Kara stuttered as her heart was beating wildly.
“I’m sure you didn’t.” Reign said in her all soothing voice as she grabbed her handkerchief and dabbed on her bleeding temple that was probably cut by the mirror’s broken shards. Reign then took a stride behind the desk and sat on her chair as she started to stack some papers.
“Now, I’d like to know, Kara. Do you still think this place is a lie? That we can’t, let’s just say, cure you? Look at your friend.” Reign turned to look at the screen where the brunette was being featured. “The treatment seems to be rather effective. What do you think?”
Kara silently stared at Reign, seemingly unable to find the proper words to say. It was like she was placed under a spell that made her rambling persona disappear or made her lose her voice.
When Reign hadn’t pulled a response out of the blonde, she nodded thoughtfully.
“I think her family will be very, very pleased with themselves and, of course, with us- oh!” Reign then raised a finger and had the expression like she had just remembered something and she briefly pointed at Kara. “I almost forgot. I think you’ve got to see this…” She then grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and started to scribble something down. “This… is what Mike and your aunt paid to make sure that you, my dear, would be reformed. Not to mention that they want it to happen as soon as possible, say… two months.”
Kara was still silent as her gaze never left the founder of the facility and she was growing more and more anxious the longer she was standing there, wondering just how much did Mike had really spent. And would a treatment really work within just two months?
When Reign was done writing, which only took her just a few seconds, she ripped the paper and showed it to Kara which made the blonde gasp. The zeroes made Kara’s head spin.
Looking like she was satisfied by Kara’s reaction, she proceeded to query the blonde. “Do you think they would pay this much for a treatment that doesn’t work?”
Kara still couldn’t wrap her head around the information that she was currently getting out of the facility’s founder herself. More importantly, was her aunt really that desperate to get her to marry that sociopath?
“Understand this, Kara. The treatment that we give here is real. You’re just a…” Reign closed her eyes for a moment and shook her head as she crumpled the paper that she held. “… prickly little pear… and now, you’re done.”
Kara’s brows furrowed in confusion and she had somehow found her voice to speak again. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, we’re nearly finished with you, Kara.” Reign informed the blonde as she properly stacked some papers and picked a pen, she then had gestured on the surroundings. “By tomorrow, you’ll be able to leave here forever.”
“Tomorrow?” Kara asked in disbelief as she walked in front of the desk, placing her hands on its edge and looked at Reign in bewilderment.
Reign’s brow shot up as she looked at Kara in what seemed like incredulous and amused. “Frankly, I thought you’d be happier. I was under the impression you couldn’t wait to go.”
And she was. But this didn’t make any sense to her and it made her gears turn. Yes, Kara was really itching to leave this place but, she had only been here for a month and a half and she was sure of it for she had been counting the days since she had been sent here.
Unless…
“How long have I been asleep?” Kara asked as she waited for Reign’s answer in bated breath.
“How long have you been asleep…” Reign’s voice dropped as she muttered to herself and started to count. It didn’t take her long to finish counting when she snapped her fingers. “Oh! Two weeks.”
Kara’s breath hitched and she was stunned by this information and her knees had gone weak that she ended up sitting on the chair that was propped to be for the guests or inquirers. How they managed to keep her asleep that long, she didn’t dare to ask for she already knew what the answer was. Just thinking about the dose of sedative drug they gave her already made her shiver.
Reign was humming to herself as she was writing something down and when she noticed that Kara was still there, she stopped and turned her attention again on the blonde. She looked at Kara for a brief moment before she spoke. “Run along now, little bug.” Reign slowly leaned towards Kara and whispered as if conspiratorially. “Your friend already misses you.”
Giving the blonde a sweet smile- Kara could feel the sarcasm emanating from it though, which was a first- she went back to writing and Kara didn’t need to be told twice and bolted right out of the room to find Maggie.
**
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Maggie asked the blonde.
“Yes!” Kara answered almost immediately.
“They said that you went nuts. That you broke their projector that’s why they quarantined you for the sake of our fellow residents.” Maggie frowned and her brows were furrowed. “Was it true?”
“What?! That’s not-“ Kara groaned in frustration as she ran her fingers to her hair. “You know what? Forget about that. Can we go back to Lena? Look… Maggie, the Lena that I saw on TV wasn’t the Lena that said goodbye to us. I know that they did something to her and I’m not gonna sit here and wait for them to do the same to me.”
Maggie slowly shook her head as if unable to comprehend what Kara was trying to say. “I’m getting confused, Kara. I understand the whole Lena thing but, what do you mean that they’ll do the same to you?”
“Their shipping me back to the mainland tomorrow.” Kara answered and she heard Maggie gasp. “It’s obvious that their treatment isn’t working on me. Not yet, at least, given that I’m just been here for two months. I’m sure that whatever they did to Lena would work on me, as well.
“My talk with Reign has let me realize how this facility really runs and Lena, for once, was wrong about them sending you back to the mainland either they were successful or not. That if they saw that you’re a lost cause and that their treatment isn’t gonna work, they’re still gonna send you back. No, Mags. There’s no room for failure here.”
Maggie was silent as she looked down and this had caused Kara to be alarmed. “Maggie? Are you okay?”
“Yeah.” Maggie answered softly. “I just… I just thought that, after all these months, I could rebel against them. That maybe there was a possibility that I could still return to the mainland being still me as a whole and not a reformed one.”
“And you still can.” Kara planted her hands firmly on Maggie’s shoulders. “I’m leaving. Tonight. Just like what we have always planned.”
“But the cameras-“
“Won’t be a problem. They will be rigged.” Kara immediately said, cutting Maggie’s concern short. “Winn said he would help, right? Then let’s go get him.”
Maggie let out a shaky breath before nodding as she looked at Kara with determination. “Okay… Let’s do this.”

bad day
Reader is Alex’s girlfriends who picks up Alex at the DEO after a mission goes bad. fluff!
ALex could be a bit OC, but i couldn’t stop myself writing this. ending kind of sucks
Thanks for reading! Comments are always welcome. English is not my native languages.
Tumblr media
No one can convince me that Alex doesn’t look as much a cute animal as Kara can.
“(Y/N) I think we need you.” Kara’s voice came through the phone in small sight. Looking at the time, you guessed she was at the DEO. It was too late at night for her to be at CatCo, and the only reason she would call you is when there was a problem with Alex. She probably wasn’t hurt, Kara would have let you know that in person. Well, that is what you told her last time she had called you with the message that Alex had gotten hurt during a mission. Alex had.
“Really Kara how you aren’t able to deal with your own sister is a mystery to me. She tells you more than she tells me sometimes and I’m her girlfriend.” You were only teasing Kara, both of you knew how stubborn Alex could be, but it always got a reaction out of Kara.
“I have been trying to deal with her stubborn ass for over three hours.” Kara almost jells at you through the phone. To say she was a little agitated by her sister behaviour of self-destruction. Kara knew why her sister did it. Alex never was good with emotions, she rater overworked herself then deal with her emotions.
“A mission went south, a couple of agents got injured. Nobody lost their lives, mostly thanks to Alex, but we both know how she gets after things like this. She had locked herself in her lab and won’t come out.” Kara sounded defeated. It was at moments like this that you really remember how young she really is. Seeing her sister like this hurt her almost as much as it hurt Alex being like this.
“hey, little Danvers it is going to be okay. I’m going over right now and will take care of her. Why don’t you go to your own girlfriend? I can imagine that this mission hasn’t been easy on you both. Why don’t we go all for lunch tomorrow, I know that Lena and Alex would love to discuss the latest alien tech ting the DEO has, and the both of us can just sit there and pretend to know what they are talking about.” You hear Kara chuckle at the other end of the phone, and this made you smile. Both Danvers sisters were very important to, just because you were dating Alex didn’t mean you forgot about Kara. The young alien maybe the most powerful woman on earth, she was still very new at being a hero. Most wouldn’t see how much of a toll it took out of Kara being a hero sometimes. When no replay came you started to think she had hung up.
“Can I get two desserts at lunch tomorrow?” Kara’s voice sounded smaller, younger, and you could almost hear the exhaustion in it. This time you couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Of course, you can. Maybe we could even go to the zoo, I know both you and Alex love the zoo. Even Lena can’t say no to animals.”
“yeah!” Kara voice know took on the more childlike side you knew all to well. The wane when she looked at the world with eyes full of wonder. Lena called it her puppy eye look. The wan that told you that you would be walking around with a very excited Kryptonian tomorrow.
“Yeah. Now go I know for sure Lena is already waiting for you.” With a final goodbye you and Kara hang up the phone? You make a mental note to check on her before the day ends, just to make sure, on Lena too. That girl hasn’t nearly enough people who check on her wellbeing.
It didn’t take you long to get to the DEO, being able to fly helps you save a lot of time. The tension in the main control room a so thick you could cut it with a knife. It was kind of funny everybody thought Alex was scary on a normal day, let alone when she was stressed. you just found it adorable, she reminded you of an angry kitten that didn’t know how to express herself. Alex found it extremely annoying when you compared her to any cat-like creature, but even she couldn’t deny it when she was curled up on your lap in your shared apartment.
Before you reached Alex’s lab you passed Winn, he looked like the devil himself had just ascended from hell, well, in this case, you could say herself.
“(Y/N)! I am so glad to see you.” Winn exclaims while hugging you.
“glad to see me or because why I’m here?” you ask with a teasing tone. With this, he makes a sound that sounds like a sheepish laugh.
“Is it bad if I say both.”
“No. I know Alex can be a feisty tiger at the best of days. I can only imagine what she is as now.” the two of you take a moment to say goodbye before you resume your journey to the front lines of a battle that you are sure is Alex’s lab right now. the closer you got to Alex’s lab the fewer agents there were around. The labs at the DEO were surrounded by glass. This gave you the perfect view of your girlfriend passing around, looking at a dozen monitors at a time.
Walking into the room Alex didn’t even acknowledge you, she staid bend over a microscope.
“Kara for the last time. I am fine! Now let me work.” Alex threw over her shoulder without looking. This gave you an idea. You maid your way over to your girlfriend without making a sound, before you slung your arms around her waist and pulled her into you.
“not Kara.” You whisper into her ear. Warmed was starting to spread on Alex’s face until the top of her ears was red. She instinctively relaxed into your hold. You always seemed to be able to relax her, like the world didn’t matter anymore for a couple of minutes. finally she turns around but keeps hugging you.
“Hi.” You smile down at her. She looked so much smaller than other times.
“Hi” she smiled back at you. When she was turned you could see how tired she looked.
Kara called.” You tell her when you get no further response. Alex lets out a non-designable sound, before burring her face in your neck. This was a sign that Alex was not in the mood to talk or that she wasn’t feeling well emotional.
“want to tell me how your feeling?” you tried while stroking her hair as a sign of comfort. Over the time you had dated Alex you had learned what to do, one to not force her to talk about how she was feeling. When she was ready, she would tell you, forcing her only makes her angry, and all do you found her adorable when she was like that. That was not how she should be feeling right now. Alex only buried herself further inside your embrace. Which made you chuckle a little bit. She was so much like a cat, were, were Kara looked like a puppy. it was kind of like a running joke between you and Lena.
“Okay, let’s go for an easier one. When was the last time you have eaten?” this was a question you did want an answer to because Alex would forget to eat when she was working in her lab. But like with the previous on it looked like she wasn’t going to move. With a little force you were able to get her on arm’s length so you could look her in the eyes.
Tumblr media
“sweetheart.” Your voice was still low, but there was a warning in it, one that she knew not to ignore. You still kept stroking her back in comfort.
“yesterday.” Came her small answer, thinking you would be mad at her. Instead you keep comforting her. But you just smiled at her.
“how about we go back home and order some take out.” With a little nod from her, you lead her out the lab toward the elevator. And before you know it you are back at your shared apartment. The moment you place her on the couch she is out like a light. You place blanked over her, so she doesn’t get cold and walk toward the kitchen.
Opening one of the cupboard drawers, where you keep your takeout menus. deciding to get Alex’s her favourite was quickly ordered before you made the sure the bathroom was ready for when Alex awoke.
When the food was delivered Alex was still curled up on the couch, and she had curled herself around the blanket like it was a nest. So, you put the food in the oven and wait for her to awake, by curling yourself in the other corner of the couch with your laptop.
It is another 30 minutes before you feel Alex curl up against you, resting her head on you tight. When you looked at her, she still had her blanket curled around her and was looking at you with sleepy eyes.
“hey, kitten. Had a good nap.” She doesn’t answer, instead, she puts pressure on your leg. Taking the hint, you stretch your legs. Seconds later you have a lap full of what you only can describe as a grumpy kitten, just like Kara, Alex isn’t ‘happy’ mood just after she woke up. After letting her wake up for a couple of minutes, knowing that otherwise there wouldn’t becoming anything intelligible thing out of her, which could be funny on certain mornings.
“Okay miss director, how about we get some food into you and then take a nice bad?” you ask her while stroking her back. She gives a tiny nod but doesn’t make a move to get up instead she clings to you more. Letting out a sigh, you figured it could be a night like this. certain night Alex would like nothing more than to surrender the power she had to uphold while being director of the DEO, and most of the times even when in her normal life.
“Alex if you want me to take the lead tonight, I want you to say it to me.” Your voice is soft but serious.
“please?” came her only reply, but it was enough for you.
“it is oké kitten, just let go. I’m going to take care of everting. You just hold on.” Alex locks her arms behind your neck as you pick her up and walk toward the kitchen. Still having the blanket around her you place her on one of the kitchen chairs and with a final kiss on the head you let go to heat up the food. While eating the food you stand next to her to give her the physical contact.
“Thanks for ordering my favourite.” She smiles at you, and know she resembles Kara a lot when Lena has brought her pop stickers.
“your welcome sweetheart.” You give her a small kiss on the side of her head. after the food, you quickly take her toward the bathroom to give her a relaxing bath. In the bathroom you place her on the side of the bath and make sure she is stable before stepping back. As she looks at you, you could still see the fatigue in her eyes.
“sweetheart.” You pull her attention to you so you could see her reaction. “Want a long and relaxing bath, or a quick one so we can cuddle on the bed? it’s up to you.”
“cuddles.” Alex's voice is small, as she slips further into subspace, exactly where you want her. You had nothing plant for later into the night, as you were more concerned about her emotional state you chose to keep it simple tonight.
“okay. Can you lift up your arms for me, so I can take off your shirt?” Alex quickly reacts and you make fast work of her shirt. After taking stripping her of the rest of her clothes you give her a quick kiss on the lips before lifting her up and placing her carefully in the bathtub. You stay close to her while she is in the bath. when you see her head fall back against the tub, you pick her up and ingulf her in the fluffiest towel. After that it didn’t take long to get her to bed.
She immediately seeks you out when you climb under the cover beside her, curling up next to you, resting her head on your shoulder and intertwining your legs with one another.
“love you,” Alex whispers in the crook of your neck.
You kiss her head while saying it back before the two of you fall asleep in each other's arms.

Hidden Lives ~ Winn Schott
Chapter 1 -- New Hero
The day everything changed Liliana had been sitting at home. Enjoying a nice book on a comfy couch. She had the news running like always in case something interesting popped up. She'd glanced up absently to check the headline and tossed her book to the ground in shock.
"Flight 237 bound for Geneva, is experiencing some loss of altitude. The pilot seems to be circling the city after apparent engine failure."
Alex's flight. A wave of ice-cold dread hit her.
She cranked up the volume as the newscaster continued. "We are receiving reports that the pilot is signaling for assistance. Air traffic control is scrambling to find a safe landing place. Though if the plane can make it that far remains to be—" He stopped as someone tapped him on the shoulder and whispered something in his ear. "The plane appears to be leveling off. More with Leyna Nguyen, live at the scene."
The TV switched to a shot of Otto Binder Bridge. Where the plane appeared to have landed safely in the water. A woman stepped in front of the camera, speaking quickly.
"The passengers of Flight 237 appear to have a guardian angel. When, what many report to be a female flying form rescued them from certain death..."
The woman continued to speak but Liliana had stopped listening, the knot in her chest eased slightly but she had to make sure Alex was alright. After 3 unsuccessful calls, she sent a quick succinct text.
I just saw the news. Are you ok?
The reply came a few minutes later, short and sweet.
Yes. I'll explain at work tomorrow.
It was formal, but then again all of Alex's texts seemed to be. She had never seemed to master the art of texting informally.
Liliana knew that was all she was going to be out of Alex tonight. So she slipped off the couch and decided to call it an early night. She curled up in her hoodie and shorts and tried not to think about how much work that flight was going to give her in the morning.
———
Morning seemed to come early the next day. Despite Alex being perfectly fine, her rattled nerves had kept her awake for another few hours. Silently cursing every bird twittering outside of her window, she rolled out of bed and fished a fresh outfit out of her closet. There was no point in anything very nice because she'd just change when she got to work.
She shuffled into the kitchen, more grateful than ever for the coffee maker her sister had insisted on giving her when she moved out.
"At list this way you won't go broke financing your coffee addiction." Kiera had said, laughing as she always did at her own jokes.
"Why would I pay for coffee when I could just use our trust fund?" Though Lily had intended the reply to be scathing, it sent them both into another fit of giggles. They never used that money if they could avoid it. It had too much dirt on it.
Liliana smiled at the memory even now. Most of her family was better left in the best, but her elder sister would always be a source of joy and inspiration. She flicked the coffee maker on before retreating to the bathroom to make herself more presentable. She grabbed her purse off the counter and poured the coffee into a thermos before heading downstairs onto the bustling streets of National City.
The walk to the DEO wasn't a hike, but it wasn't short either. She enjoyed a nice breath of fresh air in the morning as she people watched so the 30 minutes walk was perfect for her. Swiping her key card at the gate she made her way to the locker room. As she pulled on the tight black garb that most agents were required to wear, she couldn't help staring at her face in the mirror. The eyes that were so like her brother's, a dark sad brown. Lily glanced away, not wanting to be pulled into memories of Lex. Even the good ones had been tainted by his madness now...
She threaded her way through the building to Alex's lab. She knocked lightly on the doorframe as she entered, so Alex wouldn't almost slice her with a laser. It had been an accident and Alex had apologized profusely, but ever since Liliana had been careful to announce her presence when entering the lab.
Alex didn't even look up from the microscope. Instead, mumbling, "Hey, Lily."
"Hey, Lily. You almost died and all I get is 'hey, Lily'. Unbelievable." Anyone else would've missed the eye roll at the end of that statement. But, Alex was the closest thing she had to a sister, after Kiera. They knew each other's secrets. Alex knew her real last name, and Lily knew about Alex's sister.
So, she wasn't entirely surprised when Alex said, "I'm perfectly fine Kara swooped in and saved the day..."
There was an indiscernible grumble at the end, but Lily had little doubt about what she'd said. She smiled to herself in spite of everything, Alex's fierce protectiveness was one of the things Lily loved most about her.
"You know she just wanted to help."
"I know, I know." Alex responded smiling a little sadly, "but now she's on the DEO's radar, and who knows who else might come after her now."
"They'd have a tough time getting through you."
Alex laughed at the comment, thankful for the genuine support in her friend's voice.
Lily nudged Alex's shoulder playfully, "now are you going to show me your latest scientific discovery or what?"
Technically Lily was IT, keeping the firewalls up to date and making sure no one hacks the DEO. But her dual degree in computer science and biochemistry meant that she'd ended up helping Alex on more than one occasion.
Alex immediately launched into an explanation about a new genetic marker she'd found in one of the alien prisoners. A particularly unruly Cerulian, who kept trying to use his head to knock down his cell door. So there was a lot of DNA available to analyze.
"Larken, my office!" Hank's shout rang through the building.
Lily hopped off the counter she'd taken up residence on. "Guess that's me. If the warden kills me, send flowers." She placed a hand to her heart dramatically.
Alex's eyebrows quirked, her attention already returning to her experiment.
"Remember to get some sunlight once in a while, Doc." She tossed the words over her shoulder as she made her way toward Hank's office. Alex waved her off absently.
Hank's office was sparsely decorated. A few generic landscape pictures on the walls, file cabinet in the corner, and a standard-issue desk, were the only objects in the room. It was common knowledge that Hank hated it in here. He preferred to be out in the central hub, barking orders and pouring over the files of the Fort Rozz escapees. If he was meeting her in his office, it had to be important.
"Sir?" She called as she knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Lily stepped into the room cautiously, hoping she wasn't about to be reprimanded for going to Alex's post instead of her own. There was a file on his desk marked 'classified'.
"Shut the door behind you, Agent."
She did as she was told and sat down across from him.
"If this is about me going to the lab, I was about to—"
Hank held up a hand. "I'm aware of your track record, Agent, and I don't care what you do in your free time." He motioned towards the file, "I have an assignment for you."
Now she was even more confused, why hadn't he just left the assignment in her tray.
"I'm sure you watched the news last night."
She nodded, hoping this wasn't leading where she thought it was.
"We need to bring in Agent Danver's sister for a threat assessment, and I would like to know all the facts before doing so."
He handed the file to her. She didn't bother to open it, she was shocked about this assignment, to say the least.
"Sir, surely Agent Danvers would—"
But again he cut her off. "Agent Danvers will be informed when the time comes. Is that understood, Agent?"
Lily nodded mutely. Her stomach churning with the guilt of having to lie to her best friend.
Hank continued, "I need to know if she has any accomplices, if there are any outside factors, is the plane her first act of heroics, etc... I expect a full report by the end of the week."
"Yes, Sir."
She tucked the file under her arm and left. Making straight for her office.
A medium-sized room, it was the complete opposite of Hank's office. Exploding with personality in every direction. The walls were a vibrant blue, covered in posters of everything from musicians to books. A beanbag chair sat in the corner, currently stacked a few feet high with papers. There was a large white board shoved against the back wall. The desk was littered in bobbleheads, colorful cups of pens, and a three-piece monitor set up.
She pulled her rolling chair out and sat down heavily. Lie to my best friend for a week, what could go wrong? She glared at the file, wishing she had a dog to feed it to.
Might as well start now, the sooner I finish, the sooner I can stop lying to Alex.
There was little in the file she didn't already know, the only thing Alex loved to talk about as much as science was her sister.
"This was a few weeks after she'd landed, right. So, she didn't know too much about Earth foods," Alex had doubled over giggling. "I managed to convince her that a ghost pepper was a desert." Lily had begun to giggle too, "she wouldn't eat anything I offered her for months after that without asking our parents first. And she's still apprehensive about new food I give her, it's almost like she thinks I'm not trustworthy"
Lily had punched Alex playfully, "that's evil." She said between giggles.
She shrugged, "perks of an alien sister."
Lily shook her head, "after a story like that, I don't I'll be accepting food from you."
Lily slammed the file shut.
———
The week passed slowly, and try as she might she couldn't bring herself to open that file. Finally, she just decided to bite the bullet. It was late Thursday and if she weren't careful she'd have to log a lot of weekend hours just to finish the report.
After skimming the file just to confirm she knew all of its contents, she tucked it into the top drawer of her desk, determined not to look at it again.
She pulled the white board to the center of the room. Hoping to organize the jumble of thoughts in her head.
Supergirl facts
Same abilities as Superman
Similar costume
Superman's cousin
Saved a plane
Ugh. Those were all things that they already knew, what has she done recently?
Stopped petty crimes
That was it, it had to be. How did Kara know about those crimes? Super hearing maybe, but was Kryptonian hearing that good? It couldn't be the news, no petty crimes would make the news fast enough to stop. Police scanner maybe? But those were much harder to come by in National City, too many journalists sniffing around for a story.
Lily shot up from where she'd been laying on the floor staring up at the whiteboard. The NCPD mainframe would have to digitize every officer dispatch, and in a city as on the ball as National City. That could happen minutes after the call. Fast to enough for a super to act, but how did Kara get access to those. Nothing in Alex's many Kara stories had mentioned any sort of technical background.
Her eyes trailed back to the assignment she'd been given. Her finger ran down the paper before hovering on the word 'accomplice'. That had to be it, some tech person in the background telling Kara where to go.
Lily checked the NCPD signal for a hack, thankfully this hacker, whoever they were. Didn't think enough of the NCPD security protocols to bother hiding their identity very well.  It took only minutes to follow the signal back to a local IP address in National City.
She grinned wildly, fist-bumping the Hermione bobblehead on her desk. "Booyah."
She was tempted to go straight to Hank with her findings but knew that if she did that Hank might very well bring Kara in tonight. She wanted to give Alex another day.
Lily decided to investigate the address herself and bring whatever she found to Hank the next day. It was late enough to clock out so she wasted no time in grabbing her bag and heading to the locker room. As she slipped on her civilian clothes, a thread from her shirt caught on the small gold pendant around her neck. Cursing in greek, she wrestled with the shirt for a moment before the thread slipped off.
She held the necklace in her hand a moment longer. Running a thumb over the elegant script engraved on the back.
Kóri,
With love,
Lionel
She smiled, even as her eyes brimmed with tears. Her father never could sign anything just 'dad' or 'papa', he always had to remind the world how amazing he thought his own name was. She missed the days when her father was still alive, Lex was crazy yet, and Kiera hadn't left. They'd been a happy family once. Many many years ago.
That was how Alex found her only minutes later as she clocked out of her own shift. Clutching a necklace and sobbing uncontrolably. Alex didn't say anything just immediately wrapped her arms around Lily comfortingly and rocked her gently.
Alex pet her hair gently, "shh."
"Thank you," Lily whispered. "It's easy to pretend that it was always bad, but Lex was kind once, and Lionel was a good father."
Alex didn't say anything, just continued to hold her until she stopped shaking.
"How about we get takeout and head back to my place for the night? My treat." Alex coaxed gently, trying to bring a smile to her friend's face.
Lily cracked a watery smile, "I never could resist free food."
"That's the spirit," Alex nudged her gently, making them both giggle.
By the time they'd picked up the food and made their way to Alex's apartment, Lily was feeling considerably better.
"You know there's only one thing that would make this better." She smiled slyly at Alex.
Alex laughed, already reaching over to pop in the Star Wars dvd.
"If you tell anyone I've seen this, I'll kill you." Alex had a great threatening face, but it didn't really work with a mouthful of noodles.
"Promises, promises." Lily chided as she stuck her tongue out, already moving into the kitchen to grab a wine bottle.
"Make it sure its a red one." Alex called over the opening credits.
Lily laughed as she opened the cabinet that had only red bottles.
"God forbid we drink white wine for once, Alex."
"Hey," Alex defended as Lily walked back into the living room with the glasses and the bottle. "You love that and you love me. So, what are you complaining about?"
The evening was full of light chuckles comments about Han's looks (mostly Alex) and comments about Luke's looks (all Lily). Lily knew she'd have to check out the address in the morning, but for now she chose to enjoy a nice movie with her best friend.

Winn Schott Jr Is Not Straight
Summary: Winn comes out to  his friends, and realizes the world isn’t as scary or homophobic as he thought (and his friends are a lot gayer than he knew)
TW: Mentions of homophobes, some swearing and homophobic slurs at the end
Coming out to Kara was easy.
Okay, that wasn’t 100% true.
She was very accepting and managed to wipe away Winn’s nervousness with a soothing smile.  But the points leading up to telling her, that was less easy. Winn had always struggled with his sexuality.  He had spent years laying awake at night, wondering how he could possibly have feelings for that girl in math class, yet also have the same emotions come up when the boy from english made eye contact with him.  Throughout all of high school he was constantly changing his mind, one day deciding he was straight only to realize that perhaps he was gay the next day.
Not that he ever said any of this out loud.
He never had many friends he could confide in about this sort of stuff, and telling his dad was definitley off the table.  He was scary enough without being disappointed in his son’s possible gayness.
It wasn’t until Winn was in his twenties that he found the term bi.  The relief he felt when he realized there was a term that fit him, that he wasn’t just confused, was over whelming.  He wanted nothing more than to be able to call someone else and scream “I’m normal!  I’m not a freak like I thought!” But there was no one who would understand.  Because even if he knew he wasn’t a freak, what if everyone else thought he was.
And even when Winn found friends he could tell, a part of him held him back.  Every time Winn got close to saying anything, all he had to do was remind himself of all the insults during high school and he was biting his tongue again. But he hardly ever got close to saying anything.  While he would love to tell Kara and James, it never felt like the right moment.  He was almost positive they would accept him, he had never heard them say anything even remotely homophobic, but the everlasting fear was always there. The day he came out to Kara-to anyone-is an accident...Sort of.
They were cuddled up on Kara’s couch, marathoning Harry Potter and stuffing their mouths full of buttery popcorn.
“Tom Felton is totally boyfriend material,” Kara whispered, more to herself than to Winn.
“Totally,” muttered Winn without really thinking about it.
For a moment the world felt like it had stopped.  Winn held his breath, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head.  How could he have been so stupid?  He had been so careful, how could he ruin it all now?
“I’m not gay,” he blurted, not able to think of anything else in his panic.
But Kara just laughed, her eyes sparkling happily. “I figured you were joking.”
“Oh.” Winn almost felt disappointed.  As terrifying as the thought of coming out was, it would be a relief for someone to know.  So, swallowing his fear, Winn whispered out, “I’m not straight either.”
“Neither is Harry Potter,” said Kara through a mouthful of popcorn. “That boy is definitley bi.”
Winn’s mouth suddenly felt as if it was full of cotton, his tongue feeling twice as large as it should.  His brain felt like it was short circuiting.  The moment had finally come and he had no idea what to do.  His instincts told him to laugh it off and continue on, ignoring this moment for the rest of his life.  But he pushed that away, forcing himself to think of some response.
“I-Um-Yea-Yeah.  Me too,” he mumbled.
Kara didn’t respond right away, and for a moment Winn was worried he had made a mistake.  But then Kara was nodding slowly and cuddling closer to Winn.
“Me too,” she whispered.
Winn buried his head in Kara’s shoulder as he felt a surge of hot tears flood his eyes.  He didn’t say anything, too focused on keeping the stupid tears at bay to think of something.  Whether or not Kara knew about the silent tears threatening to spill over, Winn didn’t know.  He almost didn’t care.
He knew Kara wouldn’t care if he did burst into tears, but crying really wasn’t something he wanted to deal with at that moment.  He just didn’t want this to be a big deal.  He wanted to be able to say his coming out wasn’t some emotional rollercoaster.  But it was.  It might just be the biggest rollercoaster of his entire life.
“I love you,” whispered Winn. “You’re my best friend.”
“Right back at ya, you big nerd,” Kara said teasingly.
Maybe a rollercoaster was okay. [][][] Telling James was a whole other story.
Kara had promised not to tell anyone, but Winn couldn’t help but feel paranoid that James somehow knew.  James had always had that impression on him.  Every time Winn looked into James’ eyes he felt as if the taller boy somehow knew each and every one of his deepest, darkest secrets.  Which was, of course, ridiculous.  But maybe it was part of the reason why Winn tried so hard to avoid him after they first met.  It just made Winn so uncomfortable.  The thought of someone being able to see right through him was maybe the most terrifying thing Winn could think of (And coming from someone who’s friends with Supergirl, he could think of a lot of terrifying things).
Over time he had gotten used to the feeling of being see through, managing to push the paranoia to the back of his mind.  It didn’t take long for James to win his friendship, with all his warm smiles and soft words.  It made Winn feel safe in a way entirely different from the way Kara made him feel safe.  Not that Kara didn’t make him feel safe.  But James was someone who immediately made you feel like you were a friend.  Which would be why Winn couldn’t avoid James.  As terrifying as he originally was, Winn had to admit he did immediately feel welcomed.  Sure, he felt like all his secrets were being exposed to the world, but he felt welcomed.
“I think I’m gonna tell him.”
Winn stumbled as he whipped around, his panicked eyes searching for Kara.  It didn’t take long to find her, offering him a small smile from across the room.
“Wh-What?” Winn choked out, glancing around the room for anyone who could be listening, despite the already obvious fact that they were alone.
“James,” Kara said.  Then, after realizing what Winn must be thinking, she hurriedly added, “I won’t out you.  I just...I feel bad.  Like I’m hiding something from him.”
“I know what you mean,” whispered Winn.  He had spent the majority of his life feeling that way.
“I’ll tell him tonight,” Kara said decisively.  Then, as if they hadn’t just been talking about it, “That I’m pan.”
Winn nodded quietly, his mind running a million miles a minute.  If Kara told James she was pan, did that mean he had to tell James he was bi?  That’s not how these things worked, right?
“I’m sure he won’t mind,” Winn found himself saying.  And though it seemed to reassure Kara, it couldn’t calm Winn’s racing mind.
Winn half expected to tell James when Kara did, to have a sudden burst of bravery and finally be free of the anxiety that curled at the pit of his stomach. But he didn’t.
Instead he found himself smiling through the whole thing, pretending like his words weren’t somehow trapped in his throat and playing on the tip of his tongue at the same time.  But he could never vocalize them. So he went home still feeling as alone as ever, guilt eating away at him at a rate faster than he could’ve imagined.
He couldn’t explain why the guilt was so bad.  It almost felt like he was purposefully hiding from James now.  Before he could’ve chalked it up to the fact that it had never come up before, but now that it /had/ come up, there was no excuse for Winn’s silence.
It was thoughts like these that held him captive from sleep.  No matter how heavy his eyelids got, the sickness in his stomach was enough to keep him staring blankly at the darkness ahead of him.  There was so much of it, the darkness, it almost felt suffocating.  It was all he could see and Winn was positive that if he tried to move at all, the darkness would keep him trapped in place.
But eventually he did move.  At nearly 3 AM, when he grabbed his phone off the nightstand and scrolled through his contact list.
Each ring was torture to Winn’s ears, and the only thing that kept him from backing out was pure exhaustion and three cups of coffee.
“Winn?” James’ voice was groggy and tired, and perhaps a little annoyed at being awoken at such an ungodly hour. “Is everything okay?”
“It’s the darkness, James!” blurted Winn. “It’s keeping me frozen!”
For a second everything was so quiet, Winn could’ve heard a pin drop....if there were any pins to drop.  Then, from the phone, “What?”
“I...” The words died on Winn’s tongue.  What was he thinking?  How could he do this, and now of all times‽ “I can’t sleep.”
“There are pills for that, ya know,” James grumbled.
“I...I know...”
“So?”
“What?”
“Why did you call?”
Winn wanted to kick himself.  Of course that excuse wouldn’t work.  He doubted any excuse would.
He supposed the only option was to tell the truth.
Each breath he took was like tiny daggers shooting into his lungs, screaming at him to stay silent.  Each time he opened his mouth it was like someone had glued his tongue to the bottom of his mouth.  Each time he tried to talk it was as if his throat was slowly closing up, his vocal chords being slowly severed with a wire.
“Winn?”
Winn just needed a few more moments.  Just a few more.
“You still there?”
He just needed to calm his pounding heart.  He just needed to be in a place where he could actually speak.
“Winn?”
Shit, he was going to leave.
“Wi-”
“I’m bi!”
Winn didn’t think there had ever been a silence more terrifying.
“So you, me and, Kara are like the three bisexual musketeers?”
“Technically Kara’s pan,” Winn said, feeling lightheaded.
“Right.”
“So you’re not upset I didn’t tell you?” Winn’s voice sounded small to his own ears.
“I mean, I don’t usually appreciate being woken up at a time like three in the morning, but for something as important as this.”
“Thank you,” Winn choked the words out, thankful James wasn’t here to see the way Winn had to blink furiously to keep the tears at bay.
“Of course.”
“Okay,” whispered Winn. “I think...I think I can sleep now.” [][][] The third time Winn comes out, he’s the one doing the comforting. Since telling James, his guilt about keeping his sexuality quiet had lessened.  The two most important people in his life knew and accepted him, and as far as Winn was concerned, that was enough.  It still wasn’t something he was open about, but the crushing guilt of keeping it to himself had disappeared.  He supposed that was at least a step in the right direction.
Despite the fact that he no longer felt the need to tell someone, the thought of Alex finding out still terrified him.  Not that he thought she would think any less of him, she was just so intimidating, the thought of telling her just about anything was frightening.
It was all irrational.  He knew that, of course he did.
He loved Alex like a sister, he knew she wouldn’t think any less of him just because he tended to lean more towards guys.  But no matter how comfortable he was with himself, her tough demeanor would never fail to remind him of the kids in high school.  The ones who stood around their lockers all lunch because they were too cool to actually eat.  The ones who spray painted the windows and carved their initials into the lockers.  The ones who broke Winn’s arm under the school bleachers because he stared at the cute guy from english class for too long.
Alex would never do those things, though.  She was a badass but she always had good intentions.  No matter how tough she got, she was still the same girl who got too tipsy at Kara’s Halloween party and declared herself “Lord of the Small Cats”.  Maybe that was the only reason she hadn’t managed to scare Winn off yet.  Even if she was tough as nails, she was also one of the most kindhearted people Winn had ever met.
Not that he would ever tell her that.
Not even if he had accidentally walked in on her sobbing her eyes out.  Well, maybe then, but honestly Winn wasn’t even sure if it would help.  What are you supposed to say to a person like Alex in a moment of weakness?
“Are you alright?” Might as well start with the basics, Winn supposed.
Alex’s head snapped up, her breathing catching in her throat and her teary eyes darting around the room for the owner of the voice.
“Winn,” she said, rubbing furiously at her eyes. “What-What are you doing here?”
“I...I don’t know,” Winn answered lamely. “I was on my way back from the bathroom and I just...heard...I saw you here...” he let the words die off his tongue, not quite sure how to continue.
For a moment he stood in silence, fidgeting awkwardly with his hands.  Maybe he should leave, maybe people like Alex didn’t want people around them when they cried.  But no matter how much his mind screamed at him to leave her alone, he couldn’t get his feet to move.  It was as if someone had stapled them to the ground, forcing Winn to stand there as Alex tried to wipe away any evidence of her tears.
“I’m fine,” sniffled Alex, voice wobbling. “Just...stuff...”
“Well do you wanna talk about this stuff?” Winn suggested, an awkward chuckle escaping his lips.
The deafening silence that followed was terrifying.  Every breath he took seemed to be too loud, too distracting, too invasive.  Alex didn’t seem to notice but all Winn could think about was how damn loud his breath was.
Winn was just starting to regret his suggestion when Alex awkwardly gestured for him to sit next to her.  And suddenly his feet were able to move as Winn scurried to her side, squishing himself into the corner.  The wall made his spine hurt and the concrete floor hurt his ankles, but Winn forced that to the back of his mind as he offered Alex a soft smile.
Alex let her breath out in a loud huff as she let her head fall softly against the wall. “It’s...complicated.”
“Well good thing I found you then because if there’s one person who understands complicated, it’s me,” joked Winn, hoping it would lighten the mood.  Alex chuckled a little, almost pityingly, but he still counted it as a win. “You know my friend, Maggie?”
Winn’s heart started to speed up, his fingertips suddenly feeling as if all the blood had rushed out of them.  Was this it?  Was this the moment Alex would say something terrifyingly homophobic and Winn would have to lock the closet door forever?
“Uh-huh,” he choked out, forcing his head to give a little nod.
“I...I don’t see her as...as a friend.” Alex spoke her words slowly, as if she were searching for them as she spoke. “I mean I do!  But I don’t.  It’s...weird.” She paused, as if hoping that would be enough for Winn to understand.  When it was clear it wasn’t, she continued, “I mean, I think she’s great.  She’s really pretty and funny and nice and a good cop, and she likes pool, and beer!  She likes beer!  That’s always a plus!  But anyways, I’m starting to think...I dunno.  Maybe it’s stupid.”
Winn shook his head, almost too afraid to speak.
Alex sighed, running a hand through her hair. “Never mind, it’s ridiculous, I’ll just go-”
“Heyhey!” Winn blurted, his words spilling out almost faster than even he could understand. “It’s not-It’s not stupid.  Or ridiculous, or whatever...Just-Just sit...sit down.  Should I get Kara instead?”
“No!” exclaimed Alex. “No.  I’m...not ready to tell her yet.  I just need to think it through.”
She glanced over at Winn and for a moment, just a moment, Winn could see past her tough girl facade.  Their eyes locked together and for Winn It was almost like staring into a mirror.  The same fear he had felt for years was being reflected back at him.
The silence was back, as if the fear was holding them hostage.  It was taunting them with their voices, giving them a few words, but not enough to coherently tell the other what they needed to know.  Winn held his breath this time, not wanting to be too loud.
“I think I like Maggie...as more than a friend,” Alex finally said, shattering the silence with her words.
But the fear didn’t go away.  Alex didn’t have to say anything for Winn to know that was going through her mind, to know that she was desperate for a reply.  Good, bad, anything.  As long as she knew what he was thinking.  It was a thought process he was all too familiar with.
“I think you two would make a wonderful couple,” Winn said softly. “A wonderful, terrifying, badass couple.”
Alex let out a loud bark of laughter as a wave of relief washed the fear away.
“I’m...not straight either,” Winn admitted, for once not afraid to look her in the eye as he said it. [][][] The fourth time Winn comes out it’s more of an accident.
Work had always been a place where Winn kept to himself.  As afraid as he was to come out to his friends, accidentally outing himself to an acquaintance at work was perhaps one of his worst fears.
His first job was a crappy pizzeria, a place that made its customers pay too much, yet still payed its workers too little.  He smelled like pizza every day, constantly had grease on his hands, and was forced to constantly serve his high school peers shitty pizza.  But it wasn’t the worst job.  He got free pizza slices, got a few extra bucks, and it was a great excuse to get out of the house. Not that that meant it was any heaven on earth.  The kids who came through were rarely anything less than cruel, and even his own coworkers were people to be avoided when he wasn’t at work.
At first he had thought it would be a good way to make new friends, but by the third week one of the other boys had broken his nose because he looked “too gay”.  So it couldn’t be a surprise to anyone why Winn was always a little closed off at work.
Kara was the first person he had really ever opened up to, and perhaps the only reason he didn’t feel the need to keep to himself once he got to the DEO.  The DEO was the only place he had ever worked that didn’t feel like a prison.  The only place where he had a plethora of friends, and he didn’t constantly worry about being judged.
Not that that meant he was planning on coming out there.
Unlike coming the conflict he had always had about coming out to his friends, coming out at work was never a struggle.  It was never even a consideration.  Work was always a place where he kept to himself, even if he had friends there, and it wasn’t that easy of a mindset to change.
And as much as he loved working at the DEO, he always held onto that tiny sliver of fear.  The fear that some coworker was going to re-break his nose, or that something would happen to tip his boss off and he would be fired.  Again. But this wasn’t that easy of a concept to explain to his friends, especially after J’onn was so accepting of Alex.
“It’s different,” Winn insisted. “He wouldn’t worry about you hitting on him.” “J’onn’s not going to think you’re hitting on him,” Kara said, laughing as if it were ridiculous.
“I don’t understand what all the fuss is about,” Mon-El said. “On Daxam, being interested in more than one gender was a common occurrence.”
“Well here on Earth it’s not so common.  And people don’t tend to like anything weird,” Winn huffed, his words perhaps coming out snarkier than he intended.
“You’re not weird, Winn,” said Alex, a soft sigh escaping her lips.
“I know that,” muttered Winn, perhaps more as an excuse to get out of the conversation than to actually tell his friends the truth.  He turned away, fiddling anxiously with his keyboard in some desperate attempt to avoid the conversation.  He supposed he shouldn’t have been surprised to find it didn’t work.
“J’onn’s not going to hate you, Winn,” Alex insisted. “He’s a good guy.”
Winn’s lower lip wormed its way between his teeth, his eyes refusing to move from the computer screen.  He sat, frozen, for a couple moments, trying to allow his brain to think of an argument that could convince them.  That could prove to them, that it wasn’t as easy for him as it was for them.
“I just...I can’t loose this job,” he finally whispered, clamping his hands on his thighs to stop them from shaking. “I love it here.  And I love all of you.  I love working with all of you.  I can’t-I can’t risk it.”
“But you’re not risking anything,” insisted Kara. “It’s all inside your head-”
“You just don’t get it!” blurted Winn. “My entire life has been a series of events telling me to ignore who I was, to push it away!  I would love to believe you, but I’ve had enough people convince me to trust them, only to turn out to be some fucking asshole when they got a glimpse of who I really was.”
He squirmed anxiously in his seat, the silence from his friends causing a nasty feeling to fester in his stomach.
“Sorry, I just...” he hesitated, searching desperately for something to say.  When he came up blank, he stumbled to his feet and pushed past his friends, muttering out, “I need to go-I’m sorry-I can’t be here right now-I-Sorry-”
he threw himself into the first room he could find, slamming the door shut behind him.
Maybe he was being stupid.  He knew not everyone would be like those people in the past, he knew someone would accept him.  But it was much easier to imagine that person being some faceless person he would meet years from now, maybe at a bar or a concert, not someone he worked with now.
Everyone he met, especially at work, he placed a wall in front of.  And over the years he had gotten exceptionally good at it.  He was able to connect with people without letting them see certain parts of him.  Which, alright, maybe didn’t make for terribly good connections, but they were good enough.  Even if he was never invited out for drinks, or for game night, he always had someone to talk to on his break.
At least, until now.  Now not only was he being invited out for drinks at the local bar (an alien bar at that, what a plus!), but he had a group of friends who he could call up at any time, who he could binge all of Big Bang Theory with, who he was having game night with nearly every other weekend, who he could consider family.
Maybe that was why it was so important to come out.
“Agent Schott!  It’s time to come out of the closet!”
Winn nearly choked on his own spit, panic rising in his chest.  How could they do this to him?  He had been positive that even though they didn’t completely understand, they understood enough to let him come out on his own terms? He threw open the door, his eyes burning with uncontrollable anger and hurt.
“Who told you?” he blurted, fighting to keep his voice from shaking. “Was it Kara?  No, I bet it was Mon-El.  Fuck.  And I thought he was getting better at understanding Earth’s customs.  Can’t he understand that I don’t have to tell everyone I’m a fag‽  That I don’t want to be labeled as the local queer‽  Look, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, J’onn, but it’s not fucking okay to out people!”
J’onn waited until he was done, his arms crossed patiently over his chest.
“You’re standing in the DEO closet, Agent Schott.”
Winn felt as if he had been hit with a boulder. “What?”
Glancing around him, he found that the room he had locked himself in was much smaller than he had originally thought.  He hadn’t noticed in his rush to get away from everybody, but he had in fact closed himself in the nearest physical closet.  It was as if the world was playing some crazy, fucked up, ironic, horrible joke on him.
“O-Oh,” he whispered, heat slowly creeping over his face. “I-I’m sorry.  I didn’t-Fuck-I’m really sorry.  I’ll get back to work now.”
“It’s not the worst thing to happen here,” J’onn waved it off. “I’ve had worse happen to me than being yelled at by a frightened human.”
“I-I’m not scared,” Winn insisted, his eyes darting around nervously.
“good,” J’onn said, and Winn was thankful he didn’t bring up. The obvious fear in his voice. “You have no reason to be.” [][][] When Winn got to work the next day, he was pleasantly surprised to find a small bi flag sitting on his desk.  Next to it was a small note from Kara, Alex, and Mon-El.  A smile flickered over his lips as he read over it, warmth filling his chest.
“Winn, We’re sorry about yesterday.  But we’re so incredibly proud of you for coming out.  I hope this is the first step in being able to love this part of you. Love, Alex, Kara, Mon-El. P.S. I hope you’re happy to find you’re no longer bi-yourself.”
Most of the letter was written in Alex’s handwriting, though the PS at the bottom was clearly in Kara’s handwriting, and the sticky note was surrounded in smiley faces that Winn assumed Mon-El drew.
He couldn’t keep the grin off his face as he stuck it to the top of his computer.  Maybe he didn’t have to be so skeptical of everyone.  Sure, coming out was an absolutely terrifying experience, but in the end there was no doubt it was worth it.
Despite Kara’s awful pun, she was right.  Winn was no longer alone and he didn’t have to fear coming out anymore.  He wouldn’t be shouting it from the rooftops, and he was positive he would still be petrified nearly every time he had to open the closet door, but the most important people in his life accepted him.
Winn had always felt a like there was some tiny hole in his heart, due to the fact that he would never have a family to come out to.  He never even had a foster family to come out to, as he was being dragged from one home to the other almost too often for him to remember.
But as he stared at the little sticky note on his computer, and the small flag that laid on his desk (he would need to get something to hold it up later), that hole suddenly felt like it had been closed up.  Because he had a family after all, and not only did they accept him, they loved him.  And Winn couldn’t have been more grateful.

tw cutting, self harm, alcoholism
“It’s open.”
At Javier’s answer to her knocking, Holly pushed the hotel door open, bottom lip firmly between her teeth.
“Hey,” she greeted, “I brought a friend.”
Javier was in the hotel kitchenette, the only illumination coming from the shuttered windows of the cramped hotel suite.
“Hey, there, coyote boy.” Milt sauntered in after Holly, bumping her with his shoulder on his blind side. She sighed a little, but she could hardly hold his inattention against him. Milt Parker was a lot better about noticing her than most people.
“Milt.” A rare smile crossed Javier’s face as the one-eyed soldier crossed the room.
Javier asked, “How’s your daughter?” He was washing something in the sink; Holly skirted around the kitchen counter and froze when she saw Javier’s pocket knife under the running water.
She threw Milt a worried look, tugging at his attention. His eye flicked towards her, with the slightest frown, and she rubbed her fingers across her wrist in a subtle motion. Javier didn’t notice; he slipped his glasses on, then reached over to turn on the kitchen lights.
Milt offered his hand to Javier. “I can’t tell you, or else you’d have to arrest her. How’d it go the other night?”
“Fine.” Javier dried his hand off on a towel, before shaking Milt’s. The soldier tightened his grip, then reached out with his left hand to push up Javier’s right sleeve. He twisted Javier’s hand until the wrist faced upwards.
Three new bandaids marched up Javier’s wrist. One wasn’t quite big enough to hide the end of a fresh cut that must have gone awry. Holly closed her eyes in a wince.
“Miss Black told me you cut your left hand last night, Javi,” Milt said, frowning. Javier took his hand back, mouth tight.
“I did,” he said, the two words clipped short.
“Let me see.” Milt’s voice was much more demanding than Holly would ever have dared to use with her senior partner.
He sighed, but obeyed, rolling up the sleeves on both arms with a finicky precision. Milt hissed. “That’s a deep one, Javi.”
Holly hadn’t seen the stitches. She’d been - rightfully, she thought - more focused on the bullet wound in her side. It was probably for the best that she was still fat, no matter what exercise regimen the DSA put her through. The gunshot hadn’t hit anything important.
But Javier had been the one to nearly bleed out. The jagged cut he’d inflicted on himself started halfway up his forearm and straggled crookedly down into his palm. Black stitches cross-crossed his brown skin - which, in turn, was criss-crossed with even more scars.
A long, thin line traced down the inside of both Javier’s forearms, perpendicular to smaller, neat cuts that clustered near his wrists with surgical precision. Pockmarks from needles clustered around the insides of both his elbows.
Holly had seen them before, and she’d known where the scars had initially come from - but she hadn’t realized until recently that Javier had been adding to them.
Milt, grim-faced, picked the pocketknife up off the counter.
“Tucker’s knife, Javi,” Milt said. A sullen expression Holly had never seen settled onto Javier’s face. “You really think he’d like you using it for that?”
The question had the cadence of an old argument. “Tucker’s dead,” Javier said flatly. He glanced at Holly, and so did Milt.
Her face reddened. “Oh,” she said softly. “I’ll, um - I’m going back to my room, then.”
“I’m sorry, Holly,” Javier said, but so quietly that she felt safe ignoring him.
Holly never slammed doors, but she shut it firmly enough that Javier winced internally. He looked at his arms again, then dropped them to his sides.
“That was rude of you,” Milt pointed out. Javier hmmed and moved into the living room.
“Tucker’s dead, Milt,” he said again, gentler this time. “Please stop trying to guilt trip me with that.”
“It obviously isn’t working,” Milt grumbled. “You’re a grown man, Javi. Why do you keep doing that to yourself?”
Javier threw him a look of disgust and exasperation. “Do you believe I enjoy it?’
“Well, no, but...”
Javier rolled his eyes. “Do you enjoy getting drunk and punching out half a bar every week?”
Milt glared at him. Javier stared back, until both of them relented, their shoulders loosening. Milt threw himself into an armchair, while Javier settled onto the couch.
“I haven’t touched a drink in three days,” Milt said, holding up his last three fingers.
“That’s good.”
Milt snorted. “Not good,” he said scornfully. “Pathetic. I haven’t gone more than a week fully sober in years.”
Javier looked at him sideways. He thought Milt was exaggerating a little, in his self-disgust, but this wasn’t the time or place to argue with him about numbers. “With the hell they put you through, no one can blame you.”
Milt leaned back in his seat. Javier had been sure to place himself on Milt’s right, where he could easily be seen. Now the soldier fixed Javier with a look that suggested Milt knew that what he was going to say would not be exactly sensitive.
“So what’s your excuse?”
Javier stiffened for a second, but then relaxed when he recognized the real question. He looked down at his hands.
“Holly was shot,” he said. “And our - consultant - was trapped by some pendejo who came back and tortured him in a hospital. I was just across the hall with Holly. I should have noticed something. I could have...”
“I see.” Milt rubbed the back of his neck. “You don’t get to punish yourself for something that isn’t your fault.”
Javier gave him a tired look. He thought about answering that, then rubbed his face and said nothing. How many times were they going to have this conversation? It was clear that neither of them were getting any better. Last time, he had been lecturing Milt about drinking and getting into barfights.
They sat in weary silence. Javier smoothed over one of his bandaids, and then Milt said, “Come out with us tonight.”
“I don’t like bars,” Javier said automatically. Milt grinned.
“Neither does Archer. But he’s coming.”
Javier frowned, a question in the tilt of his head. Milt answered it without further prompting.
“I’m not going to drink.” Milt hesitated. “Probably. I - I think I need to go there tonight, so I invited Rhiot so I wouldn’t drink. But soon as he said yes...”
Milt rubbed the back of his neck. “I think something’s going to happen. Whether or not we go. And - And I feel like maybe things will be better if you come.”
“You won’t be able to see much if I do,” Javier reminded him. Milt shrugged.
“Get out of the hotel for once, coyote boy.”
“I just went to a party the other night,” Javier complained, but then he smiled.
“Oh, he’s sleeping.” Rhiannon was surprised, but not particularly quiet. Eli, though, was careful to softly close the door behind him. Gwen and Braith both perked up, the two dogs straining at their leashes in Eli’s hand.
“Should we take them outside?” Eli wondered in a whisper, looking over at Winn curled up on the couch. His face was pushed into the corner of the armrest and the back of the old, secondhand sofa.
Rhiannon agreed, gathering up the leads from Eli. She had to drag the dogs towards the back door - Braith let out a plaintive yip - and sighed as she shut them outside.
“Someone missed their daddy,” she said fondly; Braith had jumped up to push his nose against the glass window of the back door, whining. “You needed to talk to Winn, right? I guess you can wait around.”
“Can’t wake him up?” Eli asked, standing near the door with the awkwardness of being unexpectedly in someone else’s house.
Rhiannon was perfectly at home in Winn’s basement studio, though, kicking some discarded clothes into the corner. She sighed again, shooting her boyfriend a look. Her eyes lingered on his arm, done up in a plaster cast.
“He doesn’t sleep much,” she said. “And if he wasn’t already awake when we came in, he won’t wake up for a while.”
“Deep sleeper?”
“Only when he’s having nightmares.” Rhiannon leaned against the counter in the corner of the apartment. “I tried getting him up once. He punched me in the face and was halfway out the window before he even woke up.” She rubbed her jaw with a crooked, sad smile.
“I know people like that.” Eli joined her at the counter, hands tucked into his back pockets. He gave her a sly look. “Makes having any kinda love life a little difficult.”
“Eli!” Rhiannon backhanded him in the chest. He grinned down at her; she returned the expression after a beat. “Not that it’s any of your business,” she said, faux indignant,“but we haven’t gotten anywhere near that.”
“Yeah, he’s not real fond of the whole touching part, is he.”
“I need you to stop now.”
Eli willingly backed off the subject. “Sorry. Should I, um, go get his ferret out of the car?”
“If you do, I’ll make coffee,” Rhiannon promised, already moving into the kitchen proper. “Maybe it’ll wake Winn up.”
When Eli returned, Volcolm’s pet carrier in hand as the ferret bad-temperedly chewed at the bars, there was a strong smell of coffee in the air. Winn wasn’t awake, but he was restless; he had flopped onto his opposite side, and was muttering in his sleep. Rhiannon hovered over the couch, coffee forgotten, and she sent Eli a helpless look.
Eli set the pet carrier down on a table overflowing with paper and books and video game cases. “He can’t hurt me,” he suggested to Rhiannon. She hesitated, then nodded.
Eli reached over the back of the couch. He nudged Winn’s shoulder, then took and shook it a little harder when the ex-con’s only response was to whimper and curl more tightly into himself.
Winn was off of the couch like a shot, yelling hoarsely. Eli flinched back in spite of himself, even though he barely felt Winn’s elbow connecting with his arm. The younger blond skidded across the apartment before he hit the wall, and stared wildly at Eli and Rhiannon both, without a single hint of recognition.
“Winn,” Rhiannon said, stepping around Eli. “Winn, it’s all right, it’s just us.”
There was another long second, where Winn watched the both of them warily. Eli realized with a start that Winn was crying; his eyes were bloodshot, and a thin line of tears ran down either side of his face. He held his unharmed  hand over his heart, and his broken arm tucked close to his belly.
“...F-,” Winn said hoarsely after a moment, reaching up to scrub at his face. “F-, Rhiannon - s-sorry.”
She moved around the couch, while Eli just stood there feeling uncomfortable. “It’s fine,” she said, “you’re okay. I’m sorry we didn’t get back any sooner - we thought you wouldn’t be back until tomorrow.”
Rhiannon reached out carefully to Winn, and Eli saw a flash of hurt cross her face when he flinched away from her. After a moment, Eli shuffled to the back door and cleared his throat. Winn’s sharp eyes snapped to him, and he said, “What are you doing here?”
“Helping your girlfriend petsit,” Eli said, his hand on the doorknob. “We brought ‘em all back - you wanna see your dogs? They’re going crazy.”
That, at least, lightened the shadows on Winn’s face, if only by a tiny amount. Eli barely twisted the doorknob, before the door was shoved open by a hurricane of fur.
Braith barreled into the room, the brown and black dog barking as he body-slammed Winn onto the couch. Gwen followed, only just behind, and the two dogs swarmed their owner. Rhiannon sent Eli a grateful look, and they both shared an uncertain smile.
“Aw, f---, Braith, get off,” Winn yelped, as the dog, trying to climb into his lap, planted a foot solidly in Winn’s stomach. It took a few moments before the dogs had satisfied themselves that their owner really was home, finally, and by that time, Braith was curled up in Winn’s lap, despite being far too big for it, and Gwen had shoved her face in between the male dog’s back and Winn’s stomach, her fluffy white tail wagging a mile a minute. Winn sniffled a little, rubbing his nose on his wrist before he mumbled, “Hey, Flowers, gimme Volly.”
“That thing bites,” Eli complained, and Winn shot him a wicked grin over his shoulder.
“Volly’s got good taste. Give him here.”
Eli wrinkled his nose with distaste, but he obediently went to open the pet carrier, while Rhiannon drifted into the kitchen. Eli didn’t even try to handle Volcolm nicely this time, but instead immediately turned his hand to metal as he pulled the ferret out. Eli dropped Volcolm over the back of the couch, and the ferret immediately clambered onto Winn’s shoulders, sticking his nose into Winn’s collar.
“Hey, ya little bastard,” Winn said fondly, taking his hand off Gwen’s head to rub the fur on Volcolm’s back. “Thanks for - for watching them all, Rhiannon.”
“Of course.” She smiled as she brought a pair of mugs around the couch. Winn shook his head, so she just handed it off to Eli instead. “How did the, uh, job go?”
Winn’s gaze dropped to the dogs, the same kind of horror he’d showed during his nightmare coming back for just a split second. “All right,” he mumbled, shrugging one shoulder. “Why’s he here?”
Winn jerked his head in Eli’s direction. Rhiannon glanced over to Eli, who decided that he probably ought to explain.
“A friend and I need to find something,” he said. “We think it’s here in Boston, and I thought, maybe you would be willing to help.”
“Hard pass,” Winn said, returning his attention to his dogs. Braith nosed at Volcolm, stretched across the back of Winn’s neck.
“Look, you won’t need to do anything but track it down,” Eli promised. “No heavy work at all, and it shouldn’t take too long, not with how good you are.”
“I’m tired.”
“Winn,” Rhiannon said gently. “Eli didn’t tell me everything but I talked to him and his friend, and it sounded very important. Alexei - Eli’s friend - he told me that people might die if they didn’t find it.”
Winn gave her a hollow look. Eli warmed his hands on the coffee mug, holding his breath. Finally, Winn gave a long, aggravated groan, burying his face in Gwen’s excessively fluffy fur.
“All right,” he mumbled. “But you better f---ing pay me.”

“Winn had obviously really worried about J'onn so I would love to see you explore some of his daddy issues coming to light and how scared he was to lose J'onn” from @laurarasmith and @youkrazykartoshka “More of Winn and being stoked about Superman and Papa Bear Space Dad!”
Final scene, redone, following this fic -- https://queercapwriting.tumblr.com/post/160977528449/obligatory-holy-shit-we-survived-and-also
At least when he sits by J’onn’s bedside all night, he’s not alone.
Because James’s father was wonderful, but James’s father is dead, and he stops by to make sure Winn eats, and he stops by to ask for updates her knows aren’t there and stays in silence and keeps his hand on Winn’s thigh.
Because Alex’s father tried to commit genocide in her name, and she falls asleep on Winn’s shoulder, her hand holding J’onn’s.
Because Kara’s father designed a virus that could kill an entire species -- again with the genocide -- and he evaporated along with the rest of her entire life, and she brings Winn and Alex and James blankets and settles in next to them to sleep.
Because Maggie’s father decided his daughter’s survival was less important than his comfort, and he disowned her on the spot when she was still a child, and she curls onto Alex’s lap and Alex, even in her sleep, strokes Maggie’s hair gently.
So at least he’s not alone when he sits at J’onn’s bedside all night, in those small moments where they can all catch the minimum amount of sleep that they need to keep functioning, to keep fighting.
He’s not alone, but god, is he still scared.
Scared because for the first time in his life -- well, his life After, as he calls it in his head -- he is part of a family.
Part of a family that loves him, being fathered by a man whose version of manhood doesn’t make Winn’s feel smaller or less important, whose importance and esteem doesn’t rest on bottled up rage, but on carefully savored memories and wisdoms.
Part of a family that believes in him. That comes back for him, every time. That accepts him, video games and fear of yelling and inability to use guns and all.
Accepts him for more than what they can get from him: a family that accepts him, that loves him, just for... him.
J’onn doesn’t need Winn to be like him.
He just needs him to be himself.
And Winn’s never had that. Never had any of this.
And it terrifies him, because if J’onn doesn’t pull through... he shudders, and he stirs the entire crew.
Alex shifts and kisses his shoulder sloppily. “He’s gonna be mmkay, Winn,” she murmurs groggily, because she has to believe it, she has to, she has to, she has to.
Maggie stirs harder at the sound of her girlfriend’s voice, and she burrows her head deeper into Alex’s lap. “I la you, bae,” she mutters, and Alex smiles and sighs happily, and Winn decides he should encourage them to sleep talk more often, because maybe, just maybe, then they won’t be able to scare him senseless anymore.
But the way they scare him? For fun, in love? Always in ways that they check in with him about?
He can’t lose that. Can’t lose any of this. And losing J’onn? Would be losing this.
They all jolt awake when proximity sensors start to blare, all jolt awake and murmur recovery wishes and love to J’onn, and scatter out of the room, to their own respective war roles.
And he does his surprisingly well.
He saves the world with Lena Luthor, and he knows everything would be empty if he didn’t have his Space Dad, his Papa Bear -- J’onn would probably kill him, or at least fire him on the spot, if he heard his nicknames for him -- to be proud of him.
And when he sees him, walking and himself and awake and conscious and healthy and alive, god, alive, it’s even better than seeing Superman.
And he runs; he can’t help it.
And he calls him Papa Bear; he can’t help it.
And he throws himself into J’onn’s arms; he can’t help it.
Just like he can’t help it later that night.
Later that night when Alex and Maggie took Kara home, and everyone else was trying to get some much needed sleep.
Trying and failing.
James is his first phone call.
J’onn is his second.
They agree, all of them, that tonight is a night to be together.
They converge on Alex’s apartment, expecting to find a weepy Kara and a lot of potstickers.
They find potsticker containers, but no Kara. Just a very naked, very entangled Alex and Maggie, asleep on Alex’s bed.
“Whoa!” Winn cries involuntarily, and he’s staring down Alex’s alien ray gun before he can blink. M’gann snorts and James studiously examines the ceiling.
“What the hell, guys?” Alex lowers her gun, and J’onn crosses his arms and averts his eyes, suddenly finding one of Maggie’s bonsai trees the most fascinating creature on the planet.
“I told you we should call them first,” he says, perhaps to the little tree, and James and Winn toss up their arms in belated agreement.
“Toss me my shirt, would you, Schott?” Alex asks, a sleepy snicker in her voice, and Winn tries to do it with his eyes closed. He misses by a long shot, and turns fully around when Alex groans and pads across her room to get it -- and to collect Maggie’s shirt and underwear.
“Okay,” she calls. “Now what the hell are you guys doing here?”
“We thought Kara came home with you guys. We thought the gang would all be here.”
“She was, but Lena came to pick her up,” Maggie tells them, cobwebs still in her voice.
“I did, and now we’re back,” a new voice announces from the doorway, and Lena and Kara step inside. “We had a soothing evening, but she missed her sister. And, it seems, so did everyone.”
“Ms. Luthor,” J’onn greets, politely nodding as his girlfriend and his children try not to laugh at who won which bet about when Kara and Lena would finally get together. “Thank you for your invaluable role in saving the world.”
“The pleasure was mine, sir,” she inclines her head, and Kara beams, but tiredly.
“Can we sleep?” she says, and Alex and Maggie both immediately pat the bed between them.
Lena raises her eyebrows. “Kara stays here whenever she has nightmares, or when there’s a thunderstorm,” Maggie explains, and Lena smiles sympathetically, adoringly, at Kara.
“Okay, so Kara and Lena and James and Winn, we can all fit on the bed if you boys go sideways on the bottom,” Alex instructs, and M’gann grins.
“Got her trained in strategic tactics even in the bedroom,” she murmurs to J’onn, who groans through a grin.
“I’m not commenting on that,” Maggie chimes, face the picture of innocence, and Alex and Kara both blush deeply.
“And Papa Bear and M’gann -- not sure if you’re comfortable being Mama Bear -- “
“No one ever said I was comfortable with Papa Bear, Mr. Schott.”
“I know, J’onn, but I’m sorry, that’s just who you are! Our space parents -- is that better? -- can get the pullout couch! Just like a real family sleepover! Like with a real family!”
Maggie kisses Alex, Lena squeezes Kara’s hand, and J’onn covers Winn’s shoulders with his hands.
“It’s like a real family because we are a real family, Winn,” he tells him, and they all sleep the better for it.

One Night: Chapter 6
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
AO3
The wind makes it hard to talk. In fact, it makes it hard for Lena to do anything other than bury her face into Kara’s neck to avoid tearing up. So maybe Kara flies a little faster than usual on purpose. She knows that there are things that Lena wants to say and she’s not sure she wants to hear them. She's heard Lena argue for her all week. And she'd heard the way her arguments had become less and less impassioned, the way she had slowly started to concede points and let her own point of view be corrupted. Kara had hoped that Lena would stay strong, that despite all the vitriol being poured into her head by the woman she most wanted love from, she wouldn't be swayed. Clearly she had hoped in vain.
The flight to National City takes half an hour at the rate that Kara is flying. And when they arrive, Kara goes straight to Lena's apartment and deposits her on her balcony.
"I have to go to the DEO. Alex has to know I'm okay."
"Kara, wait. You know that wasn’t what I meant back there. I just meant that there are some aliens who-“
"I have to go," Kara says, not at all wanting to hear the way that sentence ends.
She takes off before Lena can say anything else. In the split second before she shuts off her super-hearing, she hears a quiet sob.
Kara walks into Lena's apartment with a will of iron and more bravery than she's ever needed as Supergirl. She'd agreed to dinner and a movie at Lena's and she knew that now was the best time to tell her. Kara had been talking herself out of it for weeks but the longer she she carried her secret, the heavier it got. And the longer she spent with Lena, the more she needed her to know. So, Kara had decided that tonight was the night.
Lena's apartment is wonderfully familiar. After spending a few nights there, as well as countless dinners and movie nights, Kara is comfortable enough to treat it as her own. So, she doesn't bother knocking, knowing that Lena left the door unlocked for her and that if Kara waits for her to open up like the did the first few times Lena will give her a look and say, "Just come in Kara. We talked about this."
The moment Kara walks in, the hair on her arms stands up. Kara feels suddenly and inexplicably on edge. The apartment is quiet except for some soft classical music playing in the background. Lena likes the peace and quiet after a long day of phone calls and board meetings. Kara can smell herbs and what is most likely chicken cooking in the kitchen. Everything seems normal in the living room, everything neatly in its place. She does her best to try and place whats wrong but nothing seems out of place at all.
It's only when Kara reaches out with her super hearing that she suddenly becomes consciously aware of what her subconscious had picked up on.  It’s Lena’s heartbeat, fast and unsteady, and now that Kara is focused on it, thunderously loud. The hair on the back of her neck stands up and something like a chill runs down her spine. She doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t pause to think as she runs into the kitchen. She sees Lena tied up to her chair, gagged, with tears streaming down her cheeks. As soon as she catches sight of Kara, her eyes widen and she shakes her head violently enough that Kara hears her neck pop a little.
Kara takes a step closer and then another and as she does she hears the hum of a machine coming to life to her left. For a second, everything slows down. Kara watches Lena’s eyes widen and Kara follows her gaze down to her foot where she can see the round little red dot of a laser. She follows it back to its source and sees a box, metal and small and making a small humming noise. Before Kara can react in any way, the humming stops and is replaced by a quiet beeping, one that Kara is a little too familiar with. She doesn’t think, doesn’t hesitate at all before throwing her body in front of Lena’s to hopefully protect her from the blast.
But instead of a fiery explosion like she’d expected, Kara is met only by the soft hissing of a gas being released. She glances towards the box and immediately pales. The gas is green and glowing and when Kara makes the mistake of inhaling it burns. The nausea hits her as she exhales and she’s powerless to do anything but fall to her knees. She tries holding her breath, but the damage is largely done as the dust particulates in her lungs already threaten to make her pass out. Her body wins the battle over her mind and without meaning to she pulls in a rasping breath and groans immediately as the effects of the kryptonite take hold.
Through the pain she can vaguely hear Lena shouting something, muffled beyond any hope of comprehension by the gag. She uses the last of her strength to look at her and as she fades out, all she can see is the forest green of Lena's eyes.
Kara wakes slowly and painfully. There isn’t a single part of her that doesn’t hurt, though she finds that the hurt is definitely concentrated in her head and lungs. She doesn’t even bother trying to open her eyes knowing that unless it is pitch dark on the other side of her eyelids, it’ll be too bright. She tries to manage her breathing, to figure out whether it’s better to take short and sharp breaths or longer softer ones and finds that neither option does the trick. She feels like she should be bleeding in her lungs, her throat and all the way up to her nose. She thinks that she would check to see if she was bleeding if she didn’t have to open her eyes to do so.
“Kara?”
Lena’s voice is soft and hoarse and Kara can’t tell if she’s actually far away or if the kryptonite is dampening her hearing.
“Kara are you awake?”
Kara knows she should answer, wants more than anything to reassure Lena that she’s awake and okay, but she can’t move, can’t open her eyes, can’t do much else but breathe even when Lena lets out a soft whimper.
“I’m sorry,” she says, softly and to herself, clearly thinking Kara can’t hear her. “This is… my fault. I should have known they would come after me again. I mean, I didn’t know that you were… well, y’know, her… but I let my guard down. After Supergirl, or well, you, saved me I thought I’d be okay. And you were there, every night making sure my nightmares didn’t get to much and I’ve never been happier. So I let my guard down. I’m sorry Kara, that you were dragged into this. I’m sorry. I am so, so sorry. There’s so much I wanted to tell you that I’m sure you don’t want to hear now. I was going to tell you that I-“
Whatever Lena was going to say is cut off by a door opening and two footsteps entering (one short and sharp, the other deep and heavy).
“Oh, stop sniveling Lena. That… alien… isn’t worth your tears or your words. I’ve tried telling you time and time again, but it seems that nothing will get through to you. That’s why I gave up, you know? I’d held out hope for so long that you would come to your senses like your brother did, but after that night at Lex’s cave, I saw that there really was no hope for you.”
Lillian’s voice sounds even farther away than Lena’s had but somehow her words hit more heavily. Kara finds herself trying to rage against the last dregs of kryptonite that have her essentially captive in her own body, but to no avail. No matter what she tries to do, she finds that her body won’t respond.
“You know that she won’t wake up right? The kryptonite gas we gave her was laced with a neuromuscular blocker. That was the whole point of the dust, of course. We didn't want to kill her... not yet anyway, but we couldn't figure out how to deliver the drug to her system. But then we found this device in Lex's store house and well... it took some work to figure out how to keep the drug active while airborne but we managed quite well don't you think?”
“What do you want with her?”
Lena sounds angrier than Kara’s ever heard her. She voice low and dangerous and she thinks that, had she been speaking to anyone other than Lillian, it would have worked to unnerve them a little bit. But Lillian knows her daughter to well to be affected.
“Hmmm, that’s not for you to know. You, my dear, are only here in case she does wake up. The alien seems to have a soft spot for you, lord knows why, and I believe she will be much less inclined to try and escape when you have a knife to your throat, don’t you think?”
Lena growls at her mother but then the heavy boots that Kara had associated with Henshaw move forward and there’s the cracking sound of skin on skin followed almost immediately by a whimper of pain from Lena. That in itself is almost enough to jolt Kara out of whatever weird coma Lillian has managed to put her in, but though she is itching to put herself between Henshaw and Lena, she finds herself irritatingly still.
Lillian clicks her tongue as if she’s disappointed in Lena.
“Really now dear, you should know better. Maybe it’s best if I leave you here on your own for a bit so you can learn some manners.”
She pauses as if expecting an answer but Lena remains silent so with a displeased huff, Lillian turns on heel and and marches out of the room. After the door slams shut behind them, Kara faintly hears Lena exhale in relief and then there’s a gentle hand on her sternum, and though Kara knows that it can’t actually be the case, she feels like it’s just a little easier to breathe.
“I’m so sorry Kara. But I promise you, I promise, I will find a way out of this. I won’t let them hurt you anymore.
Kara arrives at the DEO to find an exhausted Alex, J’onn, Winn, James, and Mon-El all standing around the control center with looks of utter despair. But Mon-El hears her land and he’s running to her in an instant, wrapping his arms around her shoulders in an embrace that nearly bruises her in her still somewhat weakened state. The hug doesn’t last long though because no one can stand between Alex and her little sister for long. Alex’s hug is desperate. She clutches at Kara’s shoulders, nails digging fiercely into the cloth at her shoulders. She’s crying and as Kara wraps her arms around her sister’s familiar frame, she can’t hold back the tears that prick in the corners of her eyes.
Winn, who had been shifting from foot to foot awkwardly, finally decides that he doesn’t want to be left out any longer and he all but throws himself at Kara. His arm fit awkwardly over Alex’s but his warmth is comforting and the soft words of relief he whispers against her shoulder make Kara’s heart feel like it might burst.
Of course, the warmth can only last for so long. J’onn clears his throat gently and waits until Winn and Alex step away. It’s all for nothing when James takes the opportunity to pull her in for a hug as well, the whispered words “I missed you,” all he’s able to get in before an annoyed “Mr. Olsen,” cuts him off.
“I’m done, I’m done,” he says, stepping back with his hands up in surrender and a soft smile.
“I’m glad to have you back, Kara,” J’onn says. “But we need to know what happened. So start from the beginning.”

Superlane prompt! Lucy understands Kara had to save Alex, thats what the Danvers sisters do, save each other. But for christ's sake this is the second time she almost saw the love of her life be flung into outer space, this time as a hood ornament on the SSBigot. Safe to say when the sister make it back to the DEO they have one hell of dressing down coming their way, and from the look on Maggie's face she is gong to be right there with her.
As a hood ornament on the SSBigot. I’m screaming. Thank you for that. Under the cut
“Of all the stupid things,” Lucy gives up on words, slams her hands on her dash.
“You alright there?”
Lucy holds up her hand to Maggie. “I’m not sure what was going through your head either.”
Maggie frowns at her, one hand slowly raising to press hers down and point to the road. “Can you,” Lucy places her hands back on the wheel, “thank you.” She sighs. “I didn’t expect her to go try and blow up Cadmus by herself. I at least thought she’d get Kara before trying that.”
Lucy presses down on the gas pedal further. “Kara’s there too.”
“She is?”
“Yes.” Lucy holds up her phone, tapping the speaker button as she selects the voicemail.
Kara’s voice is crackly, wind whipping her voice away. “I’m going to be a little late tonight Luce. I think- oh, okay, so Alex is in a ship?” Kara pauses for a moment. “A spaceship. That makes more sense Winn. Anyway, I’m going-”
A beep cuts her off, and Lucy stares down at the phone in her hands before dropping it in the cupholder.
“The Danvers sisters,” Maggie grins, and oh, Alex’s influence is in every inch of it, “they should come with a warning.”
When they pull up, they roll down their windows, both their mouths falling open.
“They’re going to need a warning once I’m done with them.”
By Alex is in a spaceship, Kara apparently meant Alex and a whole group of aliens are about to blast off through the galaxy unless she can push it down.
It sounds like a stupid idea to her.
Maggie’s smirk had slowly fallen from her face the closer they got to the warehouse’s location. Fire remains in its place, ash floating down from a smoky sky. The ship is hard to miss even in the dark, dark sky, the engine whirring loudly as it groans under Kara’s force.
She wants to shout, to yell at Kara, because god, she can’t do this again. Can’t watch Kara shoot up in the sky without knowing if she’ll come back down.
(She knows there’s only two options. Kara saves everyone, or they all lose the sisters and everyone on that ship.
She knows that Kara wouldn’t stop pushing, won’t stop trying to save her sister. Knows there’s no way for Kara to hold on once that ship accelerates.
She knows that either the ship lands or she’s going to watch Kara fall powerless from the sky.)
The feed in her ear is a mess. Alex trying to keep calm despite the hoarseness of her voice as Winn yells over the comms.
As his countdown continues, she wishes she could hear Kara.
The ship gets higher, higher, higher and Lucy realizes she can’t breathe right, a grip seizing her lungs, cutting off any air even though she’s gasping. A hand finds hers, Maggie’s eyes staying resolutely on the ship even as she squeezes their hands together.
(Lucy’s brought back to her father’s hand in her grip. Pain flaring in her head as they all watched Fort Rozz go up and up.
Kara didn’t come down.
But Alex went up.)
There’s a flash of white as the engines kick up and-
The ship levels out.
“Holy-” Maggie’s hand slips from hers as she drags her hands through her hair.
She ignores Maggie’s I think I’m going to be sick in favor of tapping her earpiece. “Winn, what’s happening?”
“You mean besides them not blasting off again?”
“Winn.”
“Oh, okay, you’re-” She thinks she hears him say irritated and angry. “I’m just gonna tell you what you want to know.” He mumbles under his breath before, “Okay, so Alex is trying to figure out how to land it which is so much easier when you’re not on a time limit, you know?”
“And Kara?”
“Her comm is still broke, but Alex says she’s okay.” Lucy heaves out a breath. “They’re okay Lucy. Alex is figuring out the controls slowly but surely. I- oh, she says she’s doing it fast enough.”
After pushing herself to drive faster, faster, oh, she wasn’t going fast enough- having to watch the ship slowly descend is almost anticlimatic. When it lands, Alex is the first one sprinting out, running towards the front of the ship, and Lucy scrambles after her.
Alex shouts up, hands cupping around her mouth. “Kara, are you okay?”
Lucy squints- is that? Kara’s arm flops over the edge. It’s Kara. Lucy breathes, she knows that groan anywhere, hears it every morning they have to get up to go to work. “I’m,” she sounds out of breath, too many seconds passing before she finishes with, “okay. I think.”
“Can you get down?”
“Mm, yep.” They all jump in shock when Kara simply rolls off the awning, almost eating concrete before floating at the last second to ease the impact. “There we go.”
Lucy scrubs her hands over her face before pressing them over her chest. If Kara could stop giving her mini heartattacks, she’d appreciate it.
Alex pulls Kara into her arms, pressing her nose into her hair. “You did it. I knew you could.” Lucy’s nails sink into her palms when she sees how limp Kara is, chin falling to her chest and fingers slipping from a weak grip on Alex’s arms.
She gives them a minute, Kara shifting only enough to duck her head under Alex’s chin and release a shaky breath. She drops to her knees then, wrapping her arms tightly around both of them.
“As a Director, I’m going to let J’onn handle your recklessness Alex. As your friend,” she hates how her voice breaks then, “I’m going to ask you to call me next time.”
Kara laughs, hand grasping at her shoulders to pull her closer. “And have two people I love about to speed off? No thanks.”
Maggie clears her throat, “Maybe next time, let’s have no one on the ship, okay?” Alex tips back her head to smile at Maggie, and oh, she thought Alex would be receiving stern glares and cold shoulders, but Maggie just gives her a relieved smile.
Lucy pulls Kara’s arm around her shoulder, Alex doing the same as they push upward to stand up. It’s a comforting weight, to have Kara leaning on her, solid and warm beside her.
She inhales deeply, breathing in Kara, a combination of smoke and ozone as Alex passes Kara to her to hug Maggie.
“I’m sorry,” Kara mumbles in her ear.
Lucy eases Kara’s hair from her face. “I know.” Kara hunches over, her jaw pressed against her temple. Lucy closes her eyes, still feels Kara’s chest rising and falling, thinks she’s here.
(She holds onto Kara’s hand the entire time.
As they ride home, Maggie and Alex in the front seats and pressed close together.
As they walk up the stairs together, for once Kara not skipping easily past her.
As she falls asleep, her hand gripping Kara’s tightly and she’s here, she’s still here.)
When she wakes up, she’s not.
There’s no warm, too warm body beside her or hand in hers. For a moment, the breath rushes out of her, fear feeling ice cold as it spreads through her body.
(Did she imagine it?
She’s too afraid to check her phone, to see reports of Supergirl going up in the sky with no return.
Not sure if it will be from last night or last year, but it terrifies her all the same.)
Until Kara peers out from the bathroom, toothbrush in hand. “My hearing is funny right now, so is that your heart or-” Her words trail off, eyes widening as she sees her grasping their sheets. “Lucy? What’s-”
“I’m fine.”
Lucy groans when Kara’s head creases, knows she won’t be getting out of it. She throws herself back against the pillows, presses a hand down over her chest to try and ease its rapid pounding. Kara disappears, blinking of out sight for one second before appearing at the edge of the bed, Lucy’s hair whipping up at the speed. “That’s totally believable.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Again,” Kara says as she slips up the bed, hovering over her and smiling down, “not suspicious at all.”
“I’m a trained agent, if I was lying, you’d never know.”
“Lucy,” Kara’s nose brushes hers, her hand cupping her face. “Tell me.”
“I thought you were gone,” she whispers, finds it coming more easily than she thought. “I woke up, and you weren’t here so I thought last night- that you-”
Kara shakes her head, the hand at her cheek trembling with the movement. “Oh Lucy, no. It’s- everything’s okay.”
“It almost wasn’t.”
“No,” Kara agrees, “but we got through it.” Lucy feels Kara’s smile spread across her face underneath her fingertips, “You and me?” Kara blinks, “and well everyone else too but, we’ll get through it. We always do. El mayarah.”
“El mayarah.”
(It’s more comforting coming from Kara, the dips and slopes of her language coming from Kara like only she can.
Familiar in the way that Kara whispers Kryptonian to her right before they fall asleep or on the bright mornings where Kara’s fully awake with the sun.)
“Bring the space trips down to a minimum though, Supergirl.”
Kara presses her lips against hers, smile still in place, and oh, Lucy can’t help her own until they’re more laughing with each other than kissing.
“Is that an order?”
Lucy’s wraps her arms around Kara’s shoulders to keep her there, only pulling away to say, “It is now.”
(And if Kara pressing her down to kiss her again is any indication, she thinks Kara agrees.)

Note
8 and/or 40 for supercorp please
I did both oops.
8
Kara’s body runs hot. Lena learns that as soon as they start sharing a bed together on a regular basis. It becomes almost commonplace to be woken in the middle of the night by a person-shaped furnace on her back.
In the dead of winter, like tonight, she’d normally be all for a personal space heater in her bed, but she cranked the heat up earlier that evening when she thought Kara might be out late on DEO business. Normally she’d turn it down before sleeping, but she had gone to bed without her girlfriend only to wake up with her sudden presence, plastered to her overheated back.
The combination of the warmth of the room and Kara’s body heat is stifling.
“Kara,” Lena complains a little, pushing back with her shoulder, sweat pooling uncomfortably at her lower back. Kara barely moves against the shove and Lena sighs. She can feel her shirt stick to her skin and she kicks the covers off her legs, desperate for cool air.
Kara just mumbles in her sleep, nosing at the back of Lena’s neck in a way that would normally be adorable but Lena just feels like she’s burning up.
“Kara,” she tries again, this time twisting around to face her girlfriend. “Sweetheart, please move.”
“What?” Kara finally asks, pulling her eyes open and squinting at Lena in the darkness. “What time is it? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Lena laughs softly, attempting to scoot away a little. “You’re just hotter than the sun right now.”
Somehow, in all her grogginess, Kara manages to smirk a little at that and it makes Lena laugh again. She sits up when Kara finally releases her and swings her legs off the bed. She’s almost standing when an arm snakes around her waist and pulls her back down.
“Where are you going?” Kara’s voice is thick with sleep, but still sounds just whiny enough to make Lena smile.
“To turn the heat down.”
“Why?”
Lena rolls her eyes though unseen by her girlfriend. “Because I’m unbearably hot and I’m sweating through my pajamas.”
Fingers pluck at her shirt and Lena looks over her shoulder at her girlfriend with a questioning arch in her eyebrow. “Just take your clothes off.”
The mannered part of her that was raised by Lillian Luthor bristles at the suggestion. It goes against how she was raised to hold herself. Sleep in her underwear? She can almost see the look of horror on her mother’s face.
“Just to make you comfortable,” Kara adds, sitting up behind Lena, chin on her shoulder. It’s gentle and soothing like Kara could read Lena’s thoughts. She wonders absently if that’s a Kryptonian power she’s not aware of. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to. I can go turn the heat down.”
“It’s fine,” Lena says softly, gripping the hem of her shirt. It is fine. This is Kara after all and they’re in a bed they’ve shared for almost a year and she’s tried to be better about relaxing, about not letting her upbringing insert itself into their lives all the time. It’s not like Kara’s never seen her in her underwear before. It’s dark in the room anyway and they’re just sleeping. She doesn’t know why her heart is beating so fast, but Kara must hear it because she winds her arms around Lena, holding her just a little tighter.
“Lee,” Kara says, breath soft on Lena’s neck. “I’ll go turn the heat off.”
Lena untangles herself from Kara’s embrace and stands by the bed, turning to look down at her girlfriend with determination. She hooks her thumbs in the waistband of her pants and pulls them off before tugging her damp shirt off her back and throwing both items towards the closet.
Kara smiles gently at her from the bed, the expression inviting and full of understanding. Her girlfriend holds a hand out to her that she takes immediately and allows herself to get pulled back down.
Back on the bed, on top of the covers, Kara’s body heat is no longer so consuming and she exhales noisily as she snuggles back down with her girlfriend.
“You okay?” Kara asks quietly, pressing a quick kiss to Lena’s cheek.
“Yeah,” Lena answers, feeling her body relax.
“Better now?”
Lena smiles, kisses Kara’s forehead warmly and closes her eyes. “Much.”
It’s silent for a bit before Kara’s voice breaks into the quiet of the room once more. “I could freeze breath the sheets if that would help.”
Lena just laughs and shakes her head.
40
Kara’s on the other side of National City, sat on top of a tall building while she watches the warehouse four blocks over. There’d been rumors of alien gang activity there and her current assignment is more stakeout than anything else.
She’s bored.
“There’s literally nothing happening,” she complains into the night air.
Winn’s voice crackles over the comms. “Trust the process,” he says with faux wisdom.
J’onn’s voice joins him. “Just keep watch Supergirl. If our intel was good we want to be ready for it when it happens. As soon as that truck shows up, that’s our signal.”
Kara blows out a breath and kicks her legs out a little, glancing around at the buildings around her. As it often does, her mind wanders to thoughts of her family.
She checks in on Alex first, stretching her hearing to try and find her heartbeat or her voice and she winces when she does. “Oh jeez, no no no no.”
Hands on her ears and shaking her head, Kara tries to block out the sounds of Alex and Maggie as much as possible. Seriously, when will she learn? It’s Alex’s first night off in weeks and she should know better than to tune into that.
“Supergirl?” Winn’s voice comes through again.
“Yeah, sorry, Winn,” she says. “Just talking to myself.”
In an attempt to focus on something else (anything else), Kara picks a reliable target. Lena. Her wife should be home by now, as well as their young daughter and Kara smiles warmly as she searches for their twin heartbeats through the cacophony of noise that makes up National City.
She finds them easy, as always, and grins wide at what she hears. Lena’s laugh is distinctive and full and it twists around Kara’s heart. It’s always such a joy to hear. Their daughter’s giggling accompanies the sound and Kara tries to picture them, wonders what they’re doing. She wishes, not for the first time that night, that she was at home, laughing along with them and watching Lena’s unrestrained happiness - once so rare but now a common sight in their home.
Then she hears them talking.
“You can’t tell Mom,” Lena is saying and Kara’s brow crinkles in confusion. She considers shutting the sound out and ceasing her eavesdropping in the case Lena is honestly trying to be secretive, but curiosity gets the better of her.
“But Mom loves cake!”
Kara’s eyebrows shoot up at that.
“She does, but I’m sure she’d have something to say about eating it for dinner. So it’s our little secret, okay?”
“Okay,” her kid agrees easily and Kara laughs a little.
The sound of Winn in her ear prevents her from hearing anything else and Kara whips her head up to look again at the warehouse, just noticing the truck she’s been waiting for pulling in the parking lot.
“I see it, Winn,” she says before pushing off the building and flying towards the target.
--
When she gets home that night it’s late and she’s exhausted. She didn’t stay in the sunbed nearly as long as she should have, but she was eager to get home to her family.
Lena’s still awake when she gets there, laptop open on their kitchen counter and a glass of red wine untouched next to it. Kara watches her wife work for a few seconds before noisily walking forward.
“Hey,” Lena greets as she notices her, shutting her laptop and standing. She crosses the space between them quickly and wraps her arms around Kara’s neck. Kara winds her arms around Lena’s waist, and buries her face in her wife’s shoulder, breathing strength back into her body. “You’re home late.”
“Yeah,” Kara says, but doesn’t offer any other explanation.
“Everything okay?’
“Yeah,” she repeats, palms sliding under the worn sweatshirt Lena’s wearing to press against her lower back. “I’ll tell you all about it in the morning.”
“Okay,” Lena says, running a soothing hand through Kara’s hair. “Let’s go to sleep.”
“Laura asleep?”
“A while ago,” Lena answers, pulling away from Kara and tangling their fingers together. Kara lets her wife lead her back to their bedroom when a memory hits her.
“You gave our daughter cake for dinner,” she accuses and she can practically sense Lena’s eyes go wide.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Kara laughs, the sound continuing on at the teasing unapologetic smile on Lena’s face.
“Who would have thought you’d be the fun parent,” Kara jokes, moving quickly to strip out of her suit and throw on sweatpants.
“You’re still the fun parent, darling.”
“You’re the funner parent.”
“Funner isn’t a word,” Lena points out needlessly. “I’m a writer,” Kara says, sticking out a petulant tongue. “I know what words are words.”
It makes Lena laugh again and Kara inhales deeply, feeling at peace as she hears the genuine sound of Lena’s joy here in person instead of across the noisy city.
“Don’t distract me,” she continues, pointing an accusatory finger at her wife. “You gave our daughter cake for dinner.”
Lena arches an eyebrow as they both slide into bed. “Are you mad?”
“Did you save me some?”
“Kara,” Lena intones, shooting her a pointed look. “Need you ask?”
Kara grins, kisses Lena swiftly. “Thanks, babe.”
“Anytime.”
“So why were you giving her cake? Trying to bribe her again?”
Lena rolls her eyes. “I don’t bribe our daughter.”
“So why then?”
Lena shrugs, the smile on her face faltering. “It made her happy.”
It seems more serious for a moment and Kara searches Lena’s face, trying to decipher the many complexities that make up her wife’s motivations. “She’s a happy kid,” Kara says softly. “With or without cake for dinner.”
“I would have never been allowed to do that when I was her age,” Lena whispers between them, her fingers reaching to hold onto Kara’s hand. “I just want…”
It makes sense then, the hidden vulnerability shuttering in her wife’s eyes. “Lena,” Kara says, scooting closer in bed to tangle their legs together. “You’re a great mother.”
Lena holds her gaze for a moment before smiling softly and moving forward to press their lips together. “Thanks,” she breathes.

TV SHOW: GODLESS COUPLE: WHITEY WINN X READER RATING: SMUT AF!
Tumblr media
I smiled fixing ted up in the stables giving him a brush and a little Stroke here and there "Hello? Excuse me?" A little voice asked it sounded like a girl but not any girl from around here so I turned and saw this girl stood in the opening to the stables her little grey dress stopping just above her knees and her dress very low cut exposing a lot of her breasts she had a bag and a little note in her hand "Hello, what can I do for ya?" I asked going over to her "Ohh hello, I'm sorry to bother you sir but I'm looking for a sheriff Mcnue," she says checking her note "I couldn't see him in the office and knowone seems to want to talk to me" "Ohh I'm sorry mam but sheriffs gone, left two or three days ago... he'll be back uhh in a While" I explain "I see, could you direct me to the deputy perhaps then?" She asks sweetly "Well I am the deputy mam, deputy whitey Winn" I smiled offering my hand she looked a little surprised and took my hand anyway so I gave it a little kiss "Charmed" she smiled "y/n y/l/n I'm Mr Mcnue's niece" "His niece? Ohh bills brother Ron's daughter?"  I asked and she nods "ohh I've heard about ya, not much but yeah I've heard about ya" I smiled "what are ya doin' here then?"   "My papa sent me over to work on the office since bills wife passed and all" she explained "Ohh so ya our new little office girl, great come on I'll show ya around" I smiled
"Mornin' Mam" I Yawn stepping into the office
"Good Morning Mr Winn" she smiles as she sweeps the floor I couldn't help looking at her in my half awake state her little dress picked up a bit where she was slightly bent over to sweep up
"Come on y/n, ya don't have to call me that" I smirk trying to give her a cuddle "ya can just call me whitey darlin'" but she pushes me away from her and continues with her sweeping "come on... We're all alone" I smirk trapping her between me and the wall putting my hands on her waist "Mr Winn!" She complained slapping my hands away and turning to face me "keep your hands to yourself else I'll scream at the top of my lungs" "Ohh shut that posh mouth up a minute" I smirk jumping forward and wrapping my arms around her waist and kissing her she didn't kiss me back trying to resist my kisses but she melted into the kiss and slowly wrapped her arms around my neck and got closer so not an inch was between us so I pulled away letter her catch her breath "still want me to stop?" I smirk she didn't reply she just licked her bottom lip and pulled me back to kissing her...
I sighed as bill popped out to do...god only knows what but not long after he left I heard the door so I looked up to see y/n in the doorway in her little dress "Mornin'" I smiled at her "Morning Mr Winn" she smiled as she began sorting her things to get cleaning and organising the office she got her broom and was about to start sweeping until I coughed grabbing her attention as I rested my elbow on my desk my hand keeping my head up as I smirked at her "Aren't we forgettin' somethin' little lady?" I asked and she sighed coming over and giving my lips a gentle kiss I kissed her back neither of us wanting to really stop till she pulled away and went to start sweeping up as she left going to start on the cells I slapped her arse as she walked past me "Uhh you dirty boy!" She sqeualed hitting my head with her broom "You love it" I smirk reading my book "after all last ni-" I began "Shut up Whitey" she says as she finished the cells and began Dusting the guns behind me so I got up wrapping my arms around her "Why should I?" I ask "What if bill heard you?" She worried "Ohh what? Your scared your uncle would get mad if he found all the smutty little things his little neice has been doin'?" I smirked turning her to face me "I'm more concerned about what he would do to you" she says "if the sheriff found out that his deputy has been fooling around with his neice, touching her and kissing her-" she warns "And fuckin' her" I smirked pulling her close so not an inch of us was apart "come on, don't ya want to?" I smirked kissing down her neck "Not now whitey, not here bill could come back any minute" she complained "Well have to be quick then" I smirk pushing her against my desk she happily sat there and I tugged her thigh up so her legs wrapped around my hips as we kissed I never wanted to stop I wanted my hands all over that sexy girl I pushed up her dress so the skirt sat on her waist and noticed she had nothing under it "umm what a dirty little girl ya are darlin'" I growled undoing my belts and my pants as we kissed quickly slipping my hard cock inside her "uhh! I've missed ya" I smirked pulling her closer so she was laid on my desk her legs up and around me my hands either side of her waist quickly starting my fast rough thrusts unable to control myself we kept kissing mostly to keep each other quiet while I pounded her pretty little pussy I bit down on her neck as I felt her clench herself scratching her nails down my back as she came which got me there too I quickly pulled out and finished on her stomach she giggled cleaning herself off and sitting up wrapping her arms around my neck "see I told ya we'd be quick" I winked giving her a kiss we then heard bill outside talking with someone so she cleaned up the mess we had made and I sat down on my chair reading my book as if nothing had happened,
I smirked sitting reading my little book but I kept looking at y/n as she dusts the office often having to go on her toes to reach highs sheleves or on her knees so reach low things I couldn't keep my eyes off her and that little dress but I suspect she knew that "If ya want me to fuck ya y/n, ya only gotta ask darlin'" I smirked "Whitey, what on earth are you talking about?" She asks as she moved to clean the mirror dusting around it and cleaning the glass lightly bent over so her breasts almost fell out her dress and the back hem revealing even higher than her knees I smirked getting up and wrapping my arms around her waist "You know exactly what I'm talkin' about" I growled kissing down her neck softly grabbing her breasts as she worked "ya tryin' to get a rise outta me aren't ya darlin'?" "Maybe" she giggled "Hummm... naughty girl" I smirk groping her soft breaths thought that thin dress as she works even rubbing on her nipples a little when they got hard enough to poke thought the thin dress I knew she wanted more as she moved her hips to grind on me "ummm dirty dirty girl" I smirked slapping her arse "ya want me to bend ya over ya just gonna ask darlin'" I whispered grinding back a little and kissing her cheek and neck and she nods "but what about bill? He could come back and see his pretty neice getting fucked by his deputy" I growled moving my hand away from her breast leaving the other there to grope of course moving my hand back to grab her arse "But whitey" she whines "But what? Is my little girl desperate for my cock? Or does she just want something in that dripping wet cunt a while?" I smirked moving my hand to gather up all the fabric of her dress exposing her cute little booty "why do ya never wear anythin under these dresses?" I asked her "Why should I? I thought you liked that I didn't" she giggled "I do... But it's mine and I don't like the idea just anyone could tug ya dress up and see that slutty cunt of yours" I explain slipping my hand under her dress even if it meant I could still see everything of her she found little grips in the wall as my hand met her dripping wet pussy I smirked kissing her cheek and pushing two fingers inside her another rubbing on that little clit mercilessly I could tell she was struggling already she never can resist when I touch her here I groped her chest a little harder as I slipped another finger inside finger fucking her as fast as I could until "Uuuhhh uuuuuhhhhhh whitey!" She sqeals I felt her tighten around my fingers but I didnt stop letting her ride it out as well as slowly rubbing her clit to keep her in her orgasmic state till she pushed my hand away and turned to face me "I think I might have to start restraining those naughty Hands of yours whitey" she smirked "No ya won't, then how could I make ya feel so good" I smirked she smiled a little evil smile tugging me with her back to my desk she grabbed some handcuffs and cuffed my hands behind my back I smirked leaning against my desk "go on then, what are ya gonna do to me?" I smirked and she smirked at me undoing my pants taking a harsh grip on my cock "Uhhh! Umm but y/n what if bill comes back don't want him to see his pretty little niece jerking off his deputy" I growled and she simply kissed me I happily kissed her back trying not to moan into her mouth even if it felt so good "y/n... darlin' I'm gonna" I groaned so she smirked getting on her knees and lightly sucking "uhhhh! Y/n! Umm what would your uncle say he walked in on ya sucking my cock" I smirked "please y/n faster" I moaned throwing my head back it felt so good tugging on my cuffs like crazy wanting my hands on her until I finished in her mouth and she swallowed every last drop, she got up uncuffing me and I quickly grabbed her and kissed those perfect lips just as we heard the door open so we pushed each other away getting as far apart as we could I quickly turned away and did my pants back up "Everything alright in here?" He asks "Just fine" she smiled
I yawned again, sitting on the chair outside the office I was on the night shift the most boring thing in the world bill was off tonight so I'd be on my own the next few days well... I say alone, "Whitey?" Y/n smiled poking her head out the open office door "tea? Coffee? Whiskey?" She asks "Coffee please darlin'" I smiled winking at her so she went back inside, she knew I had the night shift and all so she came over to keep me company, we both like being on the night shift together, knowones around, bill is either out of town or fast asleep and it means we can do whatever we want she came out wrapping her little shall around her shoulders even if it just looked like a little blanket as she brought me my cup of coffee "ohh thank you darlin'" I smiled taking it from her enjoying the warmth of the cup have a sip "ya cold?" I ask "A little" she smiled so I put my coffee down and pulled her so she sat across my legs she giggled happily nuzzling into my chest as I cuddled her tightly even if I loved having her cuddled with me it wasn't helping me in feel tried as well as when she yawns it always make me yawn too "Stop it y/n your gonna put me to sleep" I complain "Sorry" she blushed "It's okay, your just a bit to cosy darlin'" I told her pulling her closer "I know how to wake you up" she giggled getting up Letting our hands be dragged Apart "Ohh? How?" I asked her she went and leant on the wooden railing of the office porch she checked that the la belle streets where empty and now a soul was around, in fact I think the office was even the only light on tonight she threw her little shall on the wooden floor and I watched her every move as she undid the little buttons in her dress starting to reveal her soft breasts she kept going it revealing her stomach too she tugged it off her shoulders enough to completely reveal her breasts but keeping the dress on her arms I couldn't stop starting at her those beautiful round soft breaths with her dark hard nipples erect to the cold night air she pulled it back up and held it closed so I couldn't see her anymore "Your turn" she blushed so I smirked slipping my jumper off and undoing my shirt keeping I on but undoing it completely "It's not all that interesting darlin'" I smirk she giggled a little blushing as she saw me "your turn" I smirked and she smiled pushing her dress down till it hit the floor she smiled gently sitting her perfect arse against the wooden railing her beautiful naked body glowing in the lamp light she fiddled with her hair and lightly blushed as I looked at every inch of her it was thrilling if course I had seen he breasts before and her arse and pussy before but never at the same time never had I seen her naked before and to think we where outside the office anyone could come riding into town and see her like this "Your turn" she smiled I didn't even stop to think I stood from my chair slipping my shirt off completely undoing my pants as she bit her lip until the fell to the floor I stepped out of them blushing a little after all our smutty fun together I don't think she ever has seen me naked I stepped over to her wrapping my arms around her waist feeling her skin against mine everywhere imaginable I pulled her close kissing her soft lips "Y/n... We should stop, someone could see us" I warned her but she just giggled "So..." She giggled "Y/n... we're naked" I remind "So what?" She smirked kissing down my neck and grabbing my cock hard "Uhh! Darlin'..." I groan wanting her so badly but I don't wanna risk someone seeing us out here "Come on whitey, don't you want your y/n" she giggled "Uuummmmm... Turn around, bend over" I ordered and she did as I told her turning away from me and bending over it took maybe a millisecond to push my cock inside her it felt so good this way so deep and wet plus the thrill of doing it outside and being completely naked I grabbed her hips and within seconds I was pounding her unable to control my lustful hips I wanted to fuck her and I was gonna fuck her as hard and fast as I wanted to she was moaning and groaning fairly loudly clearly enjoining herself too I felt her cum but I didn't stop I got faster making her scream louder and louder the faster I got I grabbed her  breasts groping them in time with my harsh thrusts lost in my own little world of hormones and adrenaline till I felt her cum again so I slowed a little getting close to my own as soon as I felt it I pulled out spraying my cum across her back we where both exaughsted and just stood a while getting our breath back I moved away first getting my clothes back in she cleaned herself up and got her pretty dress back on she blushed hard at what happened so I smiled letting her come cuddle up with me on my chair letting her get some rest till first light.
I yawned a little stumbling into the office where bill sat with Maggie talking something over "morning whitey" she smiled "Mornin', have uhh either of ya seen y/n this mornin'?" I ask "In her house, why?" Bill said "Just thought I might Uhhh... Go wake her" I began "Whitey, do you... And y/n? Like each other?" Maggie asked Carefully "Of course we do, ya two are often out she's always cleanin' we get alon' well" I shrug "That's not what we meant" bill warns "Uhhhh..... I'm off" I blush quickly darting out the office to avoid there questions and rushing across to y/n's little house the door was locked she must still be in bed I don't blame her...I did keep her up late last night so I went around to her bedroom knowing she always keeps it open a little pushing it open and climbing in her window I instantly spotted her fast asleep in her little nightie tucked up in her bed so I shut the window and licked my lip looking at her I shut the window and climbed on the bed with her she didn't even move it was adorable to watch her sleep I gave her lips a kiss which made her stur "umm hello" she yawns "Hello, your late for work" I told her "Owww... No, I'm sick" she complained "You little liar, your not sick you just don't wanna get up" I laughed and she nods nuzzling close to me nuzzling into my neck and cuddling me tightly "alright, five more minutes" I smiled kissing her head "I love you" she whispered "I love you too" I smiled holding her close "come on you get some rest I'll wake you in a little while and take you to work" I told her and she nods giving my lips a kiss so I gave her one too pulling her closer letting her sleep.

missing scene 2x14 / kara & alex
MAR’S NOTE: So this is my take on what I think is a 2x14 missing scene between Kara and  Alex after the whole Jeremiah thing went down, or maybe even just my take on what would’ve happened if it had been Kara comforting Alex instead of Maggie. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Sanvers, but I kinda needed to write this. Iit may be a bit repetitive but I blame me being awake at 4 am. Enjoy!
Alex is drowning her pain in liquor when her sister bursts through the door.
She doesn’t even flinch, hell, she’s not even upset that Kara didn’t knock. In other circumstances, Alex would have cursed and at least attempted to fight Kara to the death so she could have at least a bit of privacy. Even when they were younger, in their shared bedroom back in sunny Midvale, the Danvers sisters struggled to have their own space.
That was why Alex kept visiting the National City Observatory on the nights that she missed Jeremiah the most. So that she could have her own space, literally and metaphorically.
Because as wonderful as it was to have such a great sister as Kara, it could get overwhelming, and there were nights in which young Alex wished she’d never crashed on Earth. Still, there were times in which Kara made pretty much everything in her life so much better, that Alex couldn’t blame her sister for wanting to comfort her when she was upset.
But tonight, Alex is just not feeling it. She can’t even look at Kara. She’s too tired, too drained to fight back. She’s too upset, too confused. Her dad’s first day back at the DEO had to be special, and damn it had been, but in the complete opposite way of special.
Tonight, Alex is so angry, she doesn’t even know if she really wants to be alone right now.
They both sigh at the sight of each other.
Kara sighs out of relief, to see that her sister is okay. She knows that Alex is upset, and that Alex’s heart is breaking and that she’s drinking again (which makes Kara’s stomach churn and drop at the mere thought of it) but she’s glad to see her sister in one piece, because now she’s there to glue the pieces together the moment Alex breaks.
And Alex sighs, in the most unusual meaning, accepting defeat.
“Turns out Mon-El was right. You were right. About.. About Jeremiah.” the words come out harsh, her voice hoarse, burning with anger, pain and alcohol, burning with poison, but mostly with pain and anger.
“Alex.. You.. Don’t beat yourself up.” Kara says, trying to find the right words to say. She is sad that they had fought, both their prides had been too high for them not to, and if there was something that could make Kara break, that could make Supergirl break, was being angry at her beloved sister.
“I have to, Kara. Because I’m not perfect. Because when I was right in front of him, my gun pointing straight at him, he told me he had done all of this for me. Not you, Kara, but me.” she spat, tears threatening to fall, her grip tightening around her glass, still shining with liquid gold. “Because when I had him, I almost considered shooting him. My own father, now a stranger, to his own daughter. I could’ve ended this, but I let him go.”
Alex’s cheeks are now wet with the tears she had fought so hard not to cry in front of her sister. The tears that she had considered dry back at the forest, at the DEO, when she told everyone her father (and Cadmus) had escaped. The tears that she hates crying, because she is the tough one in the family, and she hates people seeing her like this.
Tears, Tears, Tears.
And now Kara rushes to her aid, like she always does, and her strong arms quickly and swiftly but gently and carefully wrap themselves around her sister’s usually solid body that has now melted into nothing but a puddle of tears, and pain, and sorrow.
And now Alex is weeping, Alex is sobbing, Alex is crying.
Alex is breaking into a million pieces, just like when Maggie had told her they were ‘just friends’, and she allows herself to do so, because she knows her sister, not Kara, not Supergirl, but her sister is there to glue her back together.
Slowly, very slowly, while hugging her sister, Kara breaks Alex’s white knuckles from the grip they had on to the glass.
Kara knows how hard this is for Alex. She knows, because she’s lost family too, more times than Alex has. She knows, because she’s lost her planet, her home, she’s lost her parents, and she’s lost Astra too.
She can’t really hold Alex responsible for letting Jeremiah go, no matter how much it hurt her to know he’s now turned to Cadmus, because if it had been her in her sister’s shoes, she probably would’ve not been able to kill him too. Because Kara can’t afford losing anyone ever again.
And she doesn’t even need to tell her, because somehow, Alex knows too.
“I just try so hard, Kara.. I wanted today to be special, to.. to be the day in which things finally started to settle back into normalcy.. We thought he was dead, gone, but he wasn’t. And I can only begin to imagine what they did to him back at Cadmus.. His arm.. That’s probably the beginning of all the awful things they did to make him stronger, more dangerous.. Of all the things he let them do to him, for me.”
“And I can’t help but feel guilty about it.” Alex continues as she slowly brings her breathing back to normal. “I was his star, his.. child prodigy. He did all this to protect me. Us. And when he finally was face to face with me… he asked me to shoot him. And.. I almost did, Kara. That’s the worst thing out of all that’s happened today. He’s been gone for so long, and I got so angry after I found out he’d betrayed us, that part of me wanted him not to be my dad.”
Alex’s cheeks are wet again, and Kara quickly dries her sister’s tears with the back of her favourite sweater.
“Shh.. Alex.. It’s fine. You’re fine. We will all be fine.”
Alex slowly shifts in Kara’s embrace, looking up at her with raccoon-like eyes. It was something that usually happened, when she allowed herself to cry, to break down, her eyes would get all red and puffy. So red and puffy, that little circles would form around them, just like a raccoon’s.
“I’m sorry, Kara. For not listening to you. For letting my pride blind me.. Geez, I even called you out and said you had chosen a side… I’m really sorry.”
“I’m sorry too, Alex. I was angry at you for being angry at me, and Winn and Mon El.. And I guess I was also angry at them too, for trying to make me change my mind about Jeremiah, and I took it out on you. You didn’t deserve it, because we were both on the same side. We were two sisters who had just gotten their father back after fifteen years. Two sisters who needed each other.”
“I still need you Kara.” Alex says.
“I need you too Alex. And I never want us to fight again. I’m sorry.”
Alex smiles shyly. She knows Kara can’t completely heal the scars that have been opened back again that day, but at least she can patch them up.
“I’m sorry too, sis. I promise I’ll try and count to ten or whatever before trying to pick a fight with you again.”
Even though they both know how hotheaded Alex is, and how Kara knows it might actually be difficult for her sister to keep up with her promise, they laugh. Somehow, Alex now knows that she’s better.
“You were right, Kara. We will be fine. Because we have you.”
Kara blushes, and fails at suppressing a mix between a giggle and a snort. She does that when she’s flattered.
“We also have you, Alex. El merayah, remember?”
“Yes, Kara. Stronger together.”

Pick-up Marriage - Ch. 3 Sanvers love - Supercorp fanfic
Summary:  And after Lena... Maggie proposes! Sort of.
Chapter Three (Bonus): Sanvers love
Everyone is at Kara’s for a special edition of a movie night. Special because, while normally only Kara, Lena, Alex and Maggie participate, tonight the boys have joined in and so has Lucy. Also special because it’s going to be a challenge, they’re going to keep watching movies until only one of them is still awake. That’s also the one who wins the challenge.
Kara is sure she can win, Alex has already bet against her with Maggie. Lena is aware that she won’t win if Kara cuddles her on the couch and she doesn’t care enough about victory to push her wife – she still can’t believe she gets to call her that – away. James is confident and Winn has already given up. Lucy promises to give James a run for his money, both of them ignoring Kara as she claims she’ll kick their sleepy asses. Mon El just keeps asking what the movies are about.
Suddenly there’s a knock on the window and Clark waves from mid-air. Kara breaks into a huge smile and goes to greet her cousin. Everyone gets a round of hugs before Clark settles on the couch between Lucy and James.
At that point Winn bets Superman is going to win and Kara fights for Supergirl’s honour. Clark stops them laughing and assuring Winn that he won’t last long at all, he’s normally one of the firsts to fall asleep during move nights. Kara smiles at having her point proved and goes back to cuddling Lena.
In the end, Clark is indeed the first to fall asleep, followed shortly by Winn. Kara doesn’t resist much longer, but she manages to beat Mon El as he gets knocked out the challenge because of Lena’s alien booze that makes him fall asleep in the middle of the third movie. After Kara, James soon follows, despite his claims that he could last at the very least for four movies. Lucy and Lena start to doze off about at the same time, which leaves Alex and Maggie to choose the next movie.
*** ***
“Hey, babe, did you know the average person falls in love seven times before marriage?”
Alex looks up from the fridge, where she’s looking for another beer, disappointed at finding none. “What?”
“Baby, you’re my lucky seven”.
Alex is barely awake at this point and Maggie surely isn’t making much sense. She frowns at first, then she shrugs it off blaming it on the alcohol and searches for something else to drink.
It turns out Maggie and Alex are the ones to last for a fourth movie. Clark and James fell asleep on one another, Winn dozed off on Mon El shoulder and the boy from Daxam followed after having two or three glasses too much of whatever expensive and clearly alien liquor Lena supplied. Kara is fast asleep cuddled up with her wife, who also has her eyes closed, and Lucy is snoring softly on her side of the couch.
After making sure Lucy was asleep too, Maggie declared victory for the Sanvers but Alex upheld the rules and reminded her that only one can win. Maggie called her lame and warned her she just kicked herself out of competition because there was no way Maggie would fall asleep first.
“Come on, I’m cute, you’re cute, our wedding cake would be so cute”, Maggie reasons with a smirk.
At that Alex stops her research and turns around. “What?” she repeats. “What are you saying, Sawyer?”
Maggie shrugs, “You’re my lucky seven”.
“Are you...” Alex points a finger at her, palm up and expression confused. She frowns in that cute way that makes Maggie want to kiss every wrinkle that forms on her forehead and between her eyes. Alex then shakes her head and looks down at what she’s doing, trying to unscrew one of Lena’s bottles of wine.
“Plus,” Maggie stands and approaches her on the other side of the counter. She fishes a hand in her pocket and takes something out, but Alex is too taken by the nasty bottle to notice. “This ring would look pretty on your finger”.
Alex’s head shoots up and she puts her hands on the counter to steady herself as she takes in the little black box.
Maggie opens it slowly and reveals a beautiful and simple ring, much like Lena thought for Kara, she too considered Alex would be better off with a ring that wouldn’t hurt in case she had to fight with it on.
“So, as the seasoned lesbian here, I thought I should have been the one to propose?” she starts a bit insecurely.
“I mean, I could have left it to you, you would have done a much better job, now we’d probably be somewhere romantic and you’d be down on your knee and all of that. But I can only imagine how many people you would have stressed out to get there”, she jokes. “Lena totally freaked out, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have been much different” she smiles softly at her girlfriend.
“Anyway, Danvers. You see, the fact is pretty simple. I love you. A lot. And I think we make a pretty gay team. Also, I think I would very much like spending a life with you.”
She gives Alex her dimpled smile and the redhead feels herself melt, her hands are close to her chest and she’s looking at Maggie with her head cocked slightly to the side, waiting.
Maggie takes the box back into her hand and starts to slowly make her way around the counter.
“Last time I had a life changing revelation that made me gather up enough courage to ask you to be my girlfriend. This time I have none, so I guess no romantic crap, sorry babe. But I did watch your sister become the happiest woman in the world, I did watch the two of them go through something I’ve never considered important and actually make a damn wonder out of it. So I kinda think we should get something like that too.”
She’s in front of Alex now.
“But we’re not them. And… Well, point is, I know that neither of us gives a shit about marriage. I know you probably wouldn’t even like having to plan a wedding. So, here’s the deal. We’re not going to get married, not in the traditional sense, we’re going to have an alien union ritual. I have this friend – don’t worry he’s a male – who told me about their mating ritual and I think, if we adapt it, it could be kinda perfect for us.”
Maggie’s pacing in the little space behind the counter, looking up to Alex from time to time. Alex seems to still be processing what Maggie’s saying, what she actually just asked her.
“Basically, the couples on their planet take off for a journey around the world. Literally. It’s meant to be both a challenge and a bonding experience, as well as a chance to spend time alone away from the families. It kinda makes sense for them as their planet is not exactly easy to travel through, but also not as big as Earth. But I thought of something. We could take a leave for a while and travel across the world on a motorbike.”
She takes a break and adds, “Except, you know, to cross oceans and stuff”.
She starts pacing again, “And then there’s some more to the ritual, and it’s cute and fluffy, but also kind of bad ass, and I think you’d quite like-”
She is cut off when Alex forcefully takes her face in her hands and kisses her. “Just ask properly already, Sawyer”.
Maggie breaks into a huge smile, retrieves the box she left on the counter when she started pacing, and gets down on one knee.
“Alex Danvers, you are the most beautiful and smart nerd I’ve ever met. I totally love your bad ass attitude and your cute pining whenever I get out of bed too early for your liking. I love your over dramatic reaction to the sunlight peeking through the curtains when it’s almost midday but you still think it’s very rude of the sun to wake you up. I love the way your eyes light up in the morning – despite it being morning – when you find me making you breakfast. I love the way you care about people, the way you love your family with your whole heart, the way you’d do anything for those you hold dear, the fierce way you love your sister. And most of all, I love the way you love me.
“I love the multitude of ways you remind me you love me: when your eyes keep finding me in the room full of people, with the way you just take that little step closer to me whenever there are other people around, how you even surrender your beer to me!” they both chuckle here as Maggie’s eyes widen humorously.
“Long story short, I’m kinda hopelessly in love with you, Alex.” she says eventually, when the soft laugh has subsided.
She shrugs, “So, will you alternatively marry me?”
Alex is torn between laughing and crying and she ends up doing both as she says “Yes, I’ll alternatively marry you, dork”.
Maggie smiles brightly at her and slips the ring on her finger.
Lena fights hard not to laugh as she listens to the sweet and very cute exchange. Her eyes might be close, but she’s not asleep yet. She smiles softly as she learns the news before falling asleep with her face nuzzled against Kara’s neck.
“What about the last name? Should we take one last name?”
“What about Sanvers?” Maggie suggests with a wink.
Alex laughs, “What even is that?”
Maggie shrugs, “Our two last names together? It’s cute”.
Alex makes a face.
“Come on, it’s kinda cute”.
Alex frowns at her and shakes her head.
“Admit it, Danvers, it’s cute. Like us. We’re cute. We should have a cute last name”.
Maggie starts tickling Alex until the redhead gives in, “Okay, okay, it’s cute! Stop it!”
Just before falling asleep, Alex whispers, “We’re not changing our names into Sanvers”.
Maggie laughs and lulls her to sleep, effectively winning the challenge and the girl.

Can we please have Sanvers comforting Kara after the break up. Like... We all hate him but she thought he was special and she's probably hurting a lot right now and could use some older sister TLC at the moment.
She cums hard and she cums loudly – something she’s never done before, with anyone – and she cums so many more times than once that even competitive nerd Alex loses count.
And normally, she’d drift off to sleep.
Safe and happy and peaceful and home in Alex’s arms.
And normally, Alex would press endless kisses to her forehead and they’d whisper to each other – about work, about their teenage years, about their exes, about their adventures, about their terrors, about the random cat memes that Kara would send and Maggie’s latest gym shenanegins with James and her latest pool hilarities with Winn and how beautiful you are and how lucky I am and what did I ever do to deserve you – until they fell asleep.
But tonight, they both lay awake.
Tonight, they look into each other’s eyes and they smile, and then they laugh resignedly, because they both know what the other is thinking.
Kara.
“I’ll order ahead for the pizza and potstickers. You let her know we’re coming,” Maggie says as she passes Alex her shirt, her bra, and grabs one of Alex’s for herself, a habit that Maggie has never had with anyone else and a habit that Alex loves, loves, loves.
“I lo – you’re… you’re incredible, Maggie.”
“In bed? Yeah, you seem to have informed me –  oof!”
A pillow smacks her shoulder lightly and they both giggle as they languidly pull their clothes back on.
“For knowing. For caring. About Kara. For not… for not being mad at me. For needing to go be with her.”
“Alex, she’s your sister. Of course you need to go be with her.”
“You’ll come too? She’s kind of gotten attached to you.”
Maggie smiles, thinking of the last game night when Kara had encouraged Mon-El to go home and get some sleep, but practically begged both Alex and Maggie to stay, and she fell asleep in both of their arms with a safe, comforted smile on her face that was too rare nowadays.
“Of course I’ll come, if you think she wants me to.”
Alex laughs as she looks down at her buzzing phone, and she holds it out to show Maggie.
Yes. Please bring potstickers, pizza, and your girlfriend.
They hold hands the entire drive over – taking Maggie’s car because Alex’s bike needs an oil change and they’d walked home from the station, and because they can’t bear the loss of physical contact – and they somehow still manage to keep holding hands while carrying three pies and two heaping bags of potstickers up to Kara’s apartment.
She’s curled in a ball and she’s sniffling and she’s red-faced and puffy-eyed when they get there, and she holds out grabby hands for the food and for her sister and for her sister’s girlfriend, but she says nothing, because there’s nothing to say.
“Do you feel relieved at all?” Alex asks softly, only after Kara’s torn through five potsticks and a slice of pizza.
Kara’s lip wobbles and she shrugs and Maggie squeezes Alex’s hand and elaborates gently.
“It’s okay if you do, you know. He was a piece of home. Or, well, closer to home than any human could give you. Because he might be the prince of all assholes – no, not might, he is – but Little Danvers, he knew your language. Your history. And not because you told him about it, but because he grew up knowing them. Like you did. That’s important, and it’s powerful, and it can make you overlook a lot. Hell, Kara, you could kiss him without breaking his nose, you could be… intimate without hurting him. That… that’s special, Kara, those are… those are special things, and they’re hard to… They’re hard to lose, even when maybe we should. It’s okay if you feel relieved, though. It’s okay. You’re not betraying your history. You’re being true to yourself.”
Alex beams at her girlfriend and kisses her sister’s forehead and strokes her hair and pulls her into her arms.
“I’m proud of you, Kara. Do you… your text said he told you he loves you. Do you…”
She nods, and then she shakes her head, and then she nods, and then she shakes her head again.
And then she shovels three more potstickers into her mouth, and Maggie grabs four subtly – two for her, two for Alex – before they’re gone.
“It’s what Maggie said, I think, I… Daxam was… complicated, it was wrong, but if I’ve learned anything about my past since coming out as Supergirl, it’s that Krypton wasn’t all that much to be defended, either. That weapon my father made, Fort Rozz, I… he’s part of home. Not like you, Alex, not – you’re my home, Alex, you’re the only home I’ll ever need, I just – “
“I know. It’s okay, you don’t have to explain. I know.”
Kara sighs her head into Alex’s shoulder and Alex draws her closer and Maggie’s heart warms watching them.
“I just can’t believe it took me this long to realize that he just… I deserve so much better than someone who lies like that, who invalidates me and manipulates me and – that’s what he was doing, right? Am I making that up just because I’m hurt now, I – “
“No, you’re not.”
“Absolutely not – that’s what abusive, gaslighting relationships make you think, Little Danvers, that you’re out of touch with reality, that things are your fault, that you’re making things seem worse than they are…”
“It wasn’t abusive…”
“Alright. That’s okay. That’s a big word, and it’s a scary one. I get it, I do. You can process that how you need to, at whatever pace you need to. We’re here, both of us, through all of it, okay?”
Kara nods slowly, her brain spinning, and Alex kisses the crinkle between her eyes.
“Kara, you’re amazing. And I’m so proud of you for knowing what you deserve. You know that, right? That you deserve only the best?”
Kara sighs and takes her glasses off and rubs her eyes and Alex smiles.
“You are so beautiful, Kara. For yourself. Not for some man to redeem himself for. For yourself.”
“You have to say that, you’re my sister.”
“Well I’m not, and I say she’s right.”
“You have to agree with her, you’re her girlfriend.”
“I – “
“She’s got a point, Sawyer, I mean, ride or die, right?”
Kara laughs softly as Maggie fake scowls up at Alex and kisses her knee.
“I want what you two have.”
“Ugh, just like Brian.”
“Briannnn.”
“Please don’t compare me to – “
“Then please don’t use his phrases.”
“How was I supposed to know he said – “
“You don’t wanna know more, trust me.”
Kara sighs into a laugh and snuggles into Alex’s lap. “Don’t leave?”
“Never, Kara. Never.”
“You too, Maggie?”
“I’m right here, sunshine. I’m right here.”
Kara smiles sleepily – all the crying, all the pain, will knock her right out – as Alex strokes her hair and Maggie wraps her in a blanket.
“I love you, Kara. For exactly who you are.”
“I love you too, Alex. For the same thing.”
Maggie doesn’t say anything – not yet – but in her mind, she repeats their words over and over, because as the three of them drift off to sleep in a bundled, pizza-heavy heap on the couch, she feels that love, too.
