Me, months later: The Lion King Remake wasn't an inherently bad concept and could've been good here's how-
#Out of Service Out of Africa (OOC)#//I'm still honestly so shocked with how much I hyped myself up for it then how much of a colossal let down it was#//I haven't recovered from that#//every time I'm with people IRL they're always like 'Oh haha the Lion King remake was so bad it should never have been made'#//and I always have to be the asshole that's like 'YES BUT THE NUANCE DO YOU SEE?'#//Today's issue: They should've leaned into the 'Being Brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble. True bravery is facing your fear' thin#//Timon and Pumbaa get in danger in the jungle and Simba almost can't save them because he's afraid#//Pumbaa is running afraid of the hyenas but when one of them attacks Timon he fights back (remove that awful bullying speech)#//keep Zazu attacking Shenzi that was cool#//in that same scene though I wanna build up the Shenzi/Nala thing#//like have Shenzi really single out and maybe even maul Nala a little to the point its traumatising#//and then during Scar's reign Nala keeps trying to stand up to him but Shenzi keeps stopping her and even though she could win that fight#//Nala can't do it until that ending scene so their GirlFight has more payoff#//and speaking of Shenzi since Scar has to be kind of pathetic during the second half of the movie for the theme to work#//have her step up and be like the main villain. The one really controlling everything in the Pridelands and pulling Scar's strings#//Not too overtly so Scar is still the Big Bad but make sure that at least the adults know where the power is#//also frame the hyenas less like a starving disenfranchised underclass#//and more like invading colonisers/greedy capitalists and show how the lions have a more utilitarian/socialist worldview#//despite the fact that yes they eat their subjects I fucking know#//maybe have a scene for Mufasa explains to Simba (us) that he DOESN'T hunt his subjects and they're all equal as possible no killing babies#//etc etc#//Zazu Timon and Pumbaa have miniature arcs about accepting child and your child not turning out the way you expected#//but as long as they're happy its okay#//put that scene with Rafiki and Simba BACK you ANIMALS#//but also add Lebo M.'s He Lives in You around it and it make it a whole scene#//that's my number 1 listened to song on Spotify purely because I listen to it and imagine that scene over and over#//CAN YOU BELIEVE JON FAVREAU GAVE US TWO WHOLE MINUTES OF A NON-SENTIENT MOUSE RUNNING THROUGH GRASS THEN THIRTY SECONDS OF GIRAFFE SHIT#//PURELY BECAUSE IT LOOK REALISTIC AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
