It was always so hard to stay angry when he was like this. He knew just how to melt through her anger and she hated how much she loved it. Fighting back tears all she wanted was to just have her husband back, she wanted the man that was always so kind to her back.

Wiping at her face she hoped that she wasn’t ruining her make up.

After dropping her hand she refused to look at him, because she knew if she gave in and looked him in the eye she would fall apart and that would be the end of that. She’d be wrapped around his fingers and all the time she wasted terrified and lonely would be for nothing.

I kept it to the actual proposals cos including Francis’ wholeass heartmelting speech would make Bash’s prompted-by-Mary’s-own-weakass-proposal-of-convenience proposal paaale in comparison, and y’all know me. I agree wholeheartedly! I cannot fathom how anyone — anyone — could watch these two scenes (or any others for that matter), compare them and come to the conclusion that of these two men, Mary was happiest with and in love with Bash. 😳 Literally doesn’t make sense to me. My brain cannot process it. “404. That’s an error” flashes across my mind lmao Forget what Bash says, forget all that Francis says to her before he drops to one knee and hits her with that “Marry me” — just look at Mary. Look at her response. Look at that smile in 1.08, that gorgeous beam. And then look at that smile of acceptance, of resignation, in 1.12. I’m not saying she didn’t harbour affection for Bash, or that she was repulsed by him or anything like that lmao, but my God, to claim it went anything beyond that, and that she wasn’t happiest and completely head-over-heels in love with Francis is lunacy. I mean, all you gotta do is think on what even prompted her to turn to Bash for marriage in the first place: it was her love - for Francis; her desire to protect him, to ensure he lived a long life without the risk of her possibly cutting it short as per the prophecy. Everything she did in this stupid arc was driven by her love for Francis. Without the prophecy… Bash would’ve never stood a chance LMAO He barely did in that 3-ep arc as is, and that’s that on that.

Also, I only really ever watched 1.12 the one time around the time it aired so… I only just noticed this but… Mary’s wearing the same dress she wore in 1.03, right? The dress she wore when Francis kissed her for the first time? Cos, oh God looool
