In no particular order, my top looks from the 2023 Met Gala "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line in Beauty"

My thoughts are below, but I'll be honest, I didn't really do any background research this year because there wasn't much to be done. These are really just my opinions on whether or not I liked the look.

Ironically, I felt this was a very mediocre year, which led to me having a lot more favorites than usual because they were kind of all on the same level. In previous years I would have separated this into multiple posts, but I don't really see the point.

Doja Cat: I wanted someone to dress up as Choupette the cat and she delivered, and managed to do so in a way that was still fitting for the event

Keke Palmer: She looked amazing, and really captured the Chanel look with the bombshell hair and the extremely bedazzled tweed. I honestly don't want to think about how much that dress weighed

Anne Hathaway: Besides that fact that I love everything Anne Hathaway has ever done, this dress was the perfect combination of honoring Lagerfeld's style while also incorporating it into the style of the brand she was representing (Versace). It had tweed and pearls, but also sex appeal and safety pins

Cardi B: First, I just want to appreciate her ongoing commitment to high fashion and the fact that she had three (3) completely separate looks. This particular Miss Sohee look was my favorite because she's living out my glinda barbie mermaid fairy princess dreams

Harvey Guillen: This was one of the first looks I saw of the night, and still one of my favorites. It has all the Lagerfeld style essentials, but still manages to look unique. Plus, creative menswear always gets extra points because the bar is painfully low, though this year was a surprisingly pleasant exception.

Jennifer Lopez: It's not the most creative look, but it's right up my alley and honestly, do we expect anything groundbreaking from JLo? She's always going to show up in something pretty that's decently on theme enough for me to just focus on whether or not I like it. And this immediately makes me think of classic Chanel.

Penelope Cruz: She was a co-host, it's vintage Chanel couture from the 80's, and she's one of the people I most heavily associate with Lagerfeld and Chanel. A win all around.

Russell Westbrook: I really want to give Russell Westbrook credit for always showing up to the Met Gala and really going for it. I love all the details: the pearl necklace, the tweed blazer with floral clasps, the bows on the shoes

Chloe Fineman: Another first look that turned out to be a favorite. This again had all the necessary design elements without feeling like a cheap knockoff. Also major points for the bedazzled cat bag.

Anok Yai: I don't know and I don't care how this relates to theme, she looked like a goddess

Bad Bunny: Another man not only doing something interesting but incorporating the theme? Genuinely shocking. Obviously I loved the OTT floral cape, but I really loved the ode to c. 2005 Chanel with the backless suit and backwards necklace.

Gisele: She wore the same dress from an iconic 2007 editorial, proving not only that she still has it, but that she's always had it. A true supermodel.

Salma Hayek: She looked hot, I don't know what else you want me to say about it. Also it had color, which nothing else did. My eyes were starving for color.

Glenn Close: For starters, she needed an entire team to carry her train so props for that. She brought the drama, the glitz, and the "age is just a number so shut the hell up" glamor.

Lil Nas X: This was, for lack of a better phrase, a cheeks out, bedazzled, balls to the wall look. The Choupette inspiration is more obvious when he was inside with the fur (ish?) coat on, but I honestly didn't care. I needed a moment and he delivered. Though I do wonder (1) how long it took to bedazzle him and (2) will he every fully be de-glittered.

Brian Tyree Henry: I don't know if it's the pose or the cape, but it's giving me dramatic shakespeare vibes and I appreciate it.

Naomi Campbell: The only issue I have with this look is that they called 2010 Chanel Couture "vintage" and I can't accept that. Beyond that, I mean, it's Naomi Campbell in Chanel Couture. I was also dying for any semblance of color at this point and somehow this dress was among the most colorful

Jenna Ortega: The perfect combination of chanel tweed cropped blazer/mini skirt and the Wednesday Addams aesthetic. Which was interesting because I thought she was trying to move away from that but I don't care it was a successful look

Ava Max: Chanel was known for the haute couture bride, and this not only really captures that, it was one of the most and quite honestly only majorly dramatic looks of the night

Halle Bailey: She looked like a mermaid and I love that for her

Ashley Graham: I would have loved this look regardless, but after seeing the dress it was modeled after, I also think it was one of the best tributes of the night

Tems: Has she ever looked bad on a red carpet? Her headpieces are just getting bigger and more elaborate and I see nothing wrong with that.

Diddy: I love the drama + the floral cape, though I am left wondering how he didn't faint under all of that. Also, you can roast me all you want for captioning his post with Sean Combs but that's what was given to the AP so it's what I went with.

Shai Gilgeous Alexander: A final man who followed the theme and wore something interesting, arguably more interesting than some of the women. I actually think I like this look better without the coat over it.

Lily glanced up when she heard Mary’s voice, confused for a moment as to why she was listing off every makeup item she was wearing and where she bought it. Then, it hit her. A “get ready with me” video for social media.

She smiled to herself as she finished her own makeup for tonight’s party. Her look was far subtler than Mary’s bold red lip and smoky eyes. Lily wished she could pull it off, but red lipstick always seemed like too much with her auburn hair. No matter which shade of red she tried, it always looked off. Red was 100% Mary’s colour though.

It suits Pandora too. I wonder if she’s coming to Marlene’s party.

The chances were decent that she would, since Marlene was seeing Dorcas and Pandora was close with Dorcas. Her cheeks heated at the thought of Pandora’s typical party look. Lily rolled her eyes at her reflection for getting flustered over body glitter and gems.

It’s not my fault! She sparkles like a fairy!

Lily fanned her face with her eyeshadow palette to calm the flush. If Mary caught her swooning over Pandora at her vanity again, she’d never hear the end of it.

“Are you camera ready, Lils?” Mary called, wandering into her room.

“Yes, just a bit overheated…the lights, you know.”

Mary laughed as she checked her reflection in her phone camera, wiping away the tiniest smudge of eyeliner. She glanced at Lily’s reflection and scrunched her nose. “It should be a crime how good you look with a nude lip.”

“Hmm? Oh, go on.” Lily waved her off dismissively.

“No, really! It’s a party though, why don’t you go a bit brighter?”

Lily tipped her head to one side to study her reflection and considered Mary’s advice. “Won’t that leave lip marks if I find someone to snog?”

“Are you planning to?” Mary checked, a teasing grin on her face.

“No, but I wouldn’t turn down Pandora if she asked,” Lily admitted with a shrug.

Mary’s eyes widened as she turned her phone screen toward Lily. “Did you just reveal your crush while I’m on live?!”

“Live? No! I thought you were filming a video!”

“I always do a live before we leave!” Mary protested. “You said you watched my channel!”

Lily pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. “I do, but not the lives. Well, hopefully she didn’t see it.”

“About that…” Mary pressed her lips together and hollowed her cheeks.

Lily swung around on her stool in a panic. “Mary? Why are you making that face?”

Mary tapped “accept” and turned her screen toward Lily with an apologetic grin. The chat was flying over the screen at an absurd pace with people typing “omg” and “love her in a nude lip” She waved when someone said “hi Lily,” then froze.

Pandora’s image appeared on the screen as she joined the live. She flashed a grin and said, “Hi Lily, this is me asking.”

“Oh. My. God.”

The chat exploded as Lily stared back at her in stunned silence. Eventually, Mary prodded her shoulder and hissed, “Answer her, Lils!”

Lily jumped, then flushed bright pink. “Right, erm…call me?”

So i ve done the main story in infinity nikki and im gonna stop playin now, before i squeeze the game dry of content and have nothing (new) to do on release.

Time for a lil review/thoughts post

I m not gonna review every single mechanic in the game, simply things that stood out to me or that i wanna talk about. I also wont add more images, i kinda want ppl to see the world for themselves... i ll share more when the game comes out tho.

There s a lot of text under this. Tldr, i like the game i think it's a solid, enjoyable experience with a good gameplay loop, the story isn't for me, and i'll keep playin of course. And u should try it too if ur device wont blow itself up tryin to run it.

Dress up

The bread and butter of Nikki games... it's good as usual. Game doesn't shy away from long skirts or coat tails or complicated ballgowns just cuz nikki can run and jump and dash now and i'm very happy bout that. There's some clipping issues once in a while, but it's nothing major and the clothes we do have in the game are lovely. There s an evolution system for some of the sets, which makes em a diff color.... usually they can evolve once, but i saw Three extra evolutions for one of the UR sets and that scares me. Bcs to evolve them u have to craft the suit again. So u have to pull 4 copies of a suit to max it out..

Combat

Game's definitely succeeding in its quest for being cozy. There's no real stakes, combat isn't difficult in the slightest but i do welcome it- super simple but it's pretty fun regardless. The boss fights were surprisingly creative and fun for what they are, it's just unfortunate that you have to do them more than once or twice (crafting mats)- but they do change what the boss does so it's different depending on what mat u are farming for... and u can claim double or triple or however much stamina u got-le of the mat after u complete it once. So that s rly nice.

Exploration

I actually think it's really really good. Again this isn't a difficult or complicated game, not yet i guess... but with the major goal being "get new clothes" and "take pretty pictures maybe", the open world feels actively engaging to participate in. There's collectibles everywhere, little challenges you can do that are diverse but quick, styling battles, collecting everythin from animals fur to bugs to fish, and allll of this brings u closer to that never ending goal of woo more clothes.

However even if a challenge doesnt give you a blueprint, it's still just. Really Nice to exist in this world. It's very whimsical, as expected of Lilith, and the world has a combination of realism and cartoon artstyle that is just soso appealing to me. It's genuinely how i would've imagined miraland to look in 3d. Shame it's not the same miraland we know..

Story

Hmm... silly is one word i could use for it. Cute also. The story isn't doin anythin bad per se, and i did start skippin dialogue near the end w the pieceys because i want to keep at least Some part of the story for the game's release... but i get the gist of it, and it s just not my thing.

It feels like a story made for children, and it definitely would get a G rating. Easy and simple to follow, there's moments of tension or sadness sure but with the antagonist bein a literal babie lookin cutey fairy with a grown man's voice, or the creatures that i'm interacting with are a bunch of. Fuckin weird lookin big eyed balls of fabric that look closer to plushies than somethin Alive... it's all so silly and dramatic sometimes i can t help but cringe.

Part of it is a me problem, if u just open ur heart and free urself from the cringe the story is fine. It's just a little too kiddy for me and i so desperately hope it won't stay like this forever. My prayers might be answered though, there's a whole war beyond the borders and we have refugees around... shit's lookin bad for Umbrosa.

Other things i noticed that i liked:

The effect on nikki's skin when it's raining, she actually has water dripping down her face... its so cool

Momo capes are actually kinda neat ngl. Especially cuz the fucker follows u around everywhere, at least i can bedazzle him

Npc models look really good im a fan. They do suffer from "everyone is very beautiful" syndrome, which makes some of the npc villains look/sound ridiculous, but they have kid-teen-adult-elderly versions of models (i never see teen models in these games! Its cool!) And some body variation. The grandmas look so lovely i cry

The dark skin tone is really dark, and it looks quite nice and natural.

The lighting engine in this game is just rly good in general. God bless UE5

The edges of the map where there s forest, which u obv cant go thru, the forest is made to be darker, thicker.... i m a huge fan of this idk y. It's not just *invisible wall in front of an open field* nopee cant go there lets explore that area later tee hee. And it looks good to boot.

Camera function is p robust, has more options for changin brightness/saturation/contrast etc which i feel Shining Nikki lacks.

Some of the creature designs are so good man i looove themm <3.... the pieces are awful tho. Ok creature design is a hit and miss sometimes but the stray hatty? Peak. All the weirdy fashionable animals? Peak.

Bein able to quick switch thru ur saved sets while in the overworld is real neat

From worst to best

The trouble with Dragon is theres too much to work with so a design can get kinda messy. I think thats what happened here. Probably the only design I just dont like at all.

I get what they were doing with Fighting but... I dont think it really screams fighting to me. If they made the dress a coat and gave her the punk school uniform I think itd work better. But I dont hate it overall.

Doesnt scream Fire at all! How disappointing. I mean its a cute fit but I would have thought THIS was fighting before fire.

Thought this was Normal tbh... Its a really cute look so thats why I have it ranked higher than the others but they coulda done so much more with Psychic.

Ghost is so low because even tho it looks fine.... I think its a wasted concept. Theres SO much you could do with Ghost... Im not mad. Just disappointed.

For Rock... I mean its fine the diamond-queenly dress fit. I like the idea of the mismatched top but I think they coulda designed it better... I dont hate it. I do like her weird hair!

Fairy is super cute but in a boring way.

I REALLY like this design but for Steel... I just feel like they coulda did more with it. Its great tho!

Similar to Steel I like the design for Water. It obviously works but I kinda wish they did more of a mermaid thing than just a basic bathing suit.... Its cool tho. Love the tan lines.

Theres a few things that confuse me about Flying like her legs... but theres a lot here I like at least conceptually! If the socks were tight on her legs (and she didnt have weird white legs...) and the clear shorts was a skirt I'd like it a lot better.

Grass is super cute! Kinda wish they added flower elements to it but I like it a lot regardless. Very very cute.

I thought THIS was flying. I was like Oh they went colorful feathery etc for flying thats fun! ... WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS NORMAL?! BUT Regardless Normal can really be like anything and unlike with Dragon I think this is very cute.

LOVE Electric! Kinda wish it was a two piece suit but I get the coverall vibe of like a maintenance worker. I really like it! (except the clips in her hair.)

LOVE POISON. What a fun design... I kinda hate the shoes but like I GET them and its silly and fun.

Woulda thought THIS was Dragon but its Ground and I kinda love it. Doesnt necessarily invoke Ground to me but like desert rogue I guess works.

SO GOOD. I wish Rock got something as cool and dynamic as Ice did! Such a clean design. I dont get the green (shiny G. Darumaka has a green face? Maybe that...) But STILL. Fucking cool.

Bug is so PRECIOUS. Shes just fully a lil guy! Love her. Love the color pallet, love the subtle design. I didnt think Bug right away but it works.

I mean.... OBVIOUSLY. Dark is phenomenal. I love that her microphone umbrella also looks like a gun. She looks like a mob boss. Love her.

HARVEY AUGHHHHHH UR SO SMART!!!!!!! honestly dai wouldn't be a hardcore pokemon trainer (he's here to steal hearts not to win fights or become champion^tm) so he wouldn't have a fully decked out party. dai would LOATHE battling, he'd never want to do it, even if given dark's reputation he'd probably get flamethrowers and lightning bolts fired his way every other day or night. it's hard being dark. he'll still use his abilities to save other people because that's his whole thing but whatever.

in my head it was like - hilariously enough dark and wiz would be daisuke's only 'pokemon' and this was an immutable concept in my Brain, if i didn't go the legendary/fragment of giratina route then dark just would've been a gengar possessing the niwa line (to mirror the way dark's sometimes described as the infinitely repeating 'ghost' of the original niwa/ancestor) or a nightmare-curse from darkrai that bled into reality (not biblical/'creation' focused enough, esp on the hikari side of things.)

dark's not allowed to be human, ever, so why not make him just the weird human-infused product of the equivalent of vaguely-pokemon-satan already who has weird dimension hopping powers(dai n dark can already do that normally) and a cool edgelord aesthetic that has a gold torque just like one of their outfits. and wings. and territorial behavior with a sensitive side lmao or everybody wanting to 'seal' and lock them away for being chaotic/trouble makers aldkjaldkjf - anyways you get it! wiz and dark even within dnangel canon are supposed to be pretty unique weirdos already, wiz is more like shaymin status (a la there's only ever like One Around) which i also think suits him a little better than an eevee would too -

^ you can see what i mean right. KDSJLDKJG GOTH SHAYMIN TO CANON'S PASTEL. these small transformers mammals can kick it into FLIGHT MODE. but i can still totally see dai loving normal types overall like smeargle and eevee!!

in canon the way that artworks fill up dai's house as dark collects them i can see him basically filling up his mansion with all sorts of pokemon that are only 'his' in a kind of a distant and territorial, royal sense- canonically he gets artworks that are / can turn into a small bird (towa, maybe a natu given the psychic/supernatural 'guide to eternity' thing she has going on, or a swablu/altaria since it fits her aesthetic more?) a snake, (or a gecko, that's argentine, there's plenty of pokemon for that,' and a whole ass dreameater-tapir for baku, (drowzee and musharna are both RIGHT THERE) so if we're going canon-wise, i'd give him those!!! i love him slowly building up his found family of little weird guys who he loves and who love HIM very much, + again it elevates the whole giratina fragment/noble ruler of another realm/burdened boyking bit. otherwise, i've always used a clefairy(not a clefable! not! a! clefable!) to represent daisuke and still a gengar to represent dark. dai just has a fairy type affinity in general alongside his normal type behavior since he's a fragmented fairy tale mc. give him a mimikyu or impidmp or something. if anything i think the ghost types as a whole fit dark very well too - mostly in lore.

Fun fact: in the real world, only dogs and ponies/miniature horses are allowed to be service animals! So, thoughts on Galarian Ponyta service animal? One of my OCs has a galarian ponyta as her service animal, and I think a psychic/fairy type would work really well for a service animal

i did NOT know mini horses could be registered service animals :0 I thought it was just dogs, that's super neat! Also that's such a fun idea for an OC wowie. Here's some hcs about galarian ponyta as a service pokemon, because you are SO right about this

I always was under the impression that fairy types make for excellent service pokemon. They're very in-tune with the emotions of people around them, and I think for any people who need emotional support, are nonverbal, or otherwise struggles with emotional regulation or communication, the innate talents of fairy types are a huge help. Same with psychic types tbh

I like to think they have the same strengths as service horses-- they're hip height, very strong, and very sturdy, which makes them ideal for people who have issues with mobility or balance. I think because of their size they can't be ridden by most adults, but can act as a support or catch their trainer. They can also be used as an aide when their trainer is transitioning into or out of a walker or wheelchair

Their dual psychic typing and eyes on the sides of their head enables them to see and sense *everything* which is excellent for detecting possible obstacles or predicting falls before they happen. In my mind, Galarian Ponyta shines as a mobility aid pokemon, helping people get around and clearing spaces easily. Their psychic powers also can enable them to move objects out of the way

Because they have no hands, I don't think they'd be suited to fine motor skill stuff unless they are explicitly trained for psychic-type detail work, but that they work overall as a permanent mobility aid solution for their combination of small size and considerable strength

Also, I think they're the preferred mini horse for mobility aids in many places because their Kantonian counterpart is actively on fire which is a bit of a hindrance indoors and in crowds, while Mudbray is individualistic and messy. I do think Blitzle is another excellent mini horse choice, and that they're more common for people in motorized wheelchairs or with other necessary electronic devices. Galarian ponyta makes a better emotional support animal because of their fairy typing, and I think would be the go-to mini horse support

Another reason they're so popular is that their horn has healing powers and can cure small wounds, so I think they can heal things like pressure sores, small scraps from falls, cuts, or bruises

The more I write about this the more I'm convinced that Galarian ponyta is like. The ultimate mobility aid pokemon of its size and body type. I'm gonna imagine them in lil vests and snowboots now

Five injured White Knights laid on the forest floor while an automaton pilot struggled to get out of her damaged suit. An alchemist stood on the long hair of the oldest knight. "Fufu, how hilarious," Rui chuckled, "it seems that even though with all your talk about defeating us, you just simply can't do that. Saki was right in joining us instead."

The eldest knight simply coughed and let out a soft 'fuck you'.

"Well, as fun as this was, I simply cannot let you live, my dear Tsukasa-kun. Maybe in another life things could have played out differently. Goodbye, my dear Tsukasa-kun."

The other knights could only watched in horror as Rui raised his staff while the pilot only struggled harder in getting out.

"I would step away from the young one, if I were you." Rui's body involuntarily stepped away from Tsukasa. His eyes were wide as he looked around. Soon enough his eyes settled on an older woman walking out of the woods.

She had short brown hair with silver streaks coming to her neck. Her light brown eyes looked at him with a hardened expression but also... disinterest? She wore a long red dress with a white collar, her sleeves rolled up and an apron tied around her waist. She had black gloves on her hands and brown boots on her feet. Around her neck was a pendant with a crest that was familiar to Rui.

She continued forward until she was standing in front of the White Knights. "It's quite rude of you to call someone your 'dear' when you don't mean it, isn't it? Hasn't your caretaker taught you anything about manners?"

Rui growled. How dare she. How dare she say such things! "You-"

"Meh, it doesn't matter. What matters is this." She took out a small rubber ball from a pocket Rui didn't notice. "Take out all your anger on him, won't you?"

The ball seemingly came to life and immediately targeted Rui. It pelted him with attack after attack, leaving him no room to defend himself. Seemingly satisfied, the woman turned to the injured White Knights.

All of them tensed, ready to defend themselves if she attacked even if they were injured. It broke her heart seeing these young teenagers act like that. "Please don't worry, I'm here to help. I saw what happened and I just couldn't let it happen any longer." She knelt down to their level.

Tsukasa didn't know whether to feel relief or terror. She singlehandedly beat Rui. Rui! The strongest Alchemist and one of the elites of the enemy! She could easily kill them off! Not that he would let her, of course! His juniors were much too precious to him and he didn't want anything bad happening to him. It wasn't until her pendant caught his eye that he made his decision.

That familiar dragon head looking to side with its emerald eye was very familiar. Now that he thought about it, the woman looked very familiar too. A faint memory locked under a haze surfaced for a bit before disappearing. "Alright, I'll trust you for now. But if you even dare lay a hand on them..."

"You have my word that I won't, darling. Now, allow me to pick you up." The woman did so with ease. She held Tsukasa like a prince would hold his princess after he saved her from the villain. Such a strange thing to think about. Like a troupe from a fairy tale.

The woman walked over to Minori who had the least injuries as she was in her automaton. She was still struggling to open it up. "Let her out, please." The makeshift doors opened with ease and Minori clumsily got out.

"Thank you so much, miss!"

"Huhu, it's alright dear." A large, fluffy dog with white fur jumped out of the automaton too and into his owner. Akito jumped up and hid behind Mizuki who was shaky on their legs. Len was helping Shiho up.

"Oi, senpai, why are we trusting this powerful forest lady?" Akito questioned. Mizuki could tell he wouldn't be getting an answer from how their senior looked. "Look on the bright side, Lil' Bro! She isn't attacking us like a certain someone."

"I know, but..."

"I know I'm just a stranger to you all but I will gladly help all of you out. Please, follow me." The woman turned to look at the automaton and rubber ball who was still attacking Rui. "Both of you, please follow us. As for you, alchemist, I suggest running far from here and not following us." They all did as told.

The automaton hovered without its pilot and the rubber ball bounced over. Rui's legs started running off into a random direction. The group went into the same direction as the woman had came from. Minori allowed Shiho and Len to climb up on her automaton with her as Samo-chan guarded the woman and Tsukasa. Akito had Mizuki's arm around his shoulder as he half-carried them along.

Soon they reach a clearing where a large castle was. Well, it was more accurately described as an off-balanced mesh of buildings, canons, and disparate pieces of junk hanging onto one another. It was also on creaky legs. A scarecrow with a top hat on its head, a pipe in a crudely drawn mouth, and wearing some more sophisticated clothes came up to the group.

"My sun! You're home!" A voice called. The group looked up to see the faint shape of another woman high up on the castle. The other woman jumped down to join them. Well, specifically to be with the other woman.

The other woman's pink hair was done up in butterfly locs as they cascaded down her back. Some locs went over her shoulder. Her blue eyes looked over at the woman carrying Tsukasa with so much love in them. She wore a form fitting off-white button up. Some deliberately left unbuttoned. It was tucked into some black dress pants and covered by a pink and blue diamond patterned jacket with gold trim. Her jewelry was eye-catching. Beautiful emerald earring dangled from her ears as a gold necklace with a diamond sat snugly on her neck. Rings covered her painted fingers.

The knights recognised her immediately. "Y-you're-!"

"Oh! We have some guests! Hello there, you all are now in the presence of Luka Megurine-Pendragon! It seems you have already met my wife, Meiko. Allow us to help you in your troubles."

Ayumu - Mystery Brown (DETECTIVE AYUMU LIVES!!! Like that one art in LL Days,,also it’s just pretty and would look nice on her like just picture Agupon with a lil Sherlock-y cap walking around the stage with a magnifying glass looking for “clues” idk that would just be cute and silly - but my second pick would probably be Spring Colored Blazer,it’s very Ayumu and I like that)

Kasumi - Black Jewelry (Like I said,these options tell me nothing about what her song will sound like but this one is pretty and elegant but in a Kasumi way,it kind of reminds me of a ballerina outfit which is cute - my second pick would be White Elegance bc it’s pretty)

Shizuku - Pink Frill Dress (Finally,Shizuku outfit options that aren’t all blue but this one is my favorite bc it’s very soft and princess-y not much else to say but I like this one a lot - my second pick would probably be Cherry Cherry it’s very retro and cute)

Karin - Amethyst Dress (All of her options are amazing so I’m okay with ANY of these winning,but something about this one is calling to me it makes me hope that her song will be jazzy like please. Please Lantis / Bushiroad I don’t ask for much give Karin a jazz song but Blue Moon Night is also SUPER pretty)

Ai - Coral One-Piece (From what I can gather from these outfits,her song might show us a softer girlier side to Ai’s usual bright colorful happy in-your-face sound /minus Diabolic muiler of course/ which I think is very nice and this one to me fits that image the most,it’s very soft and pretty but still very her + Lavender Lace is also v cute)

Kanata - Black Ribbon (They really looked up “jirai kei” and picked the first outfit they saw huh dhdjdj,,but it’s very cute and maybe tells us this will be a different sound for her which is fun but my other pick would be Purple Fairy it’s kinda plain and looks like any other Kanata outfit BUT it’s cute and could be accessorized w/ fairy wings or something,I wouldn’t mind it winning but like cmon. Black Ribbon is SO CUTE)

Setsuna - Punk Border (Ok,so this wasn’t my first pick initially but after some thought…it’s REALLY grown on me solely for the idea that she could have a pop punk type solo and that’s smth Setsuna’s never done,which this outfit fits that the best - it’s still a rock-ish style costume so it still suits her,but again it’s new for her + maybe School Rock could fit that too?? That was my initial choice bc it also looks SUPER cool)

Emma - Colorful Stage (Ngl,they never give Emma great options like these aren’t BAD they’re better than her L!L!L! choices but idk I only chose this one bc it’s cute and more “modern” looking which isn’t common for her but maybe my second pick is Denim Stitch it makes me think she could have like…a folk-y country style song like cowgirl Emma anyone?)

Rina - Neon Cat (This is another one that’s just undeniably the best choice imo,like it’s so bright and so Rina-y it’s just perfect for her but if I had to choose another one it would be Motion Girl it’s pretty cute)

Shioriko - Undead Celeb (Once again…what is her song going to sound like??? Is Shio finally in her goth / chuuni era? Idk but I love it,this one is pretty and kind of makes me think of a period piece - my second pick would most likely be Royal Skeleton solely for the name and the collar)

i talked about this with tsun (ty tsun dearest 🫶) so shoutout to him for bringing up many good points about this!! like how having hakuno being described in food terms gives her a very home-y comforting feeling which contrasts with her more aloof and rational personality /though she does become warmer with character development ✨️

makes me also think about sweets in particular too (duh) anfmd how even though they Are nice, they lack any nutritional value and won't fill your stomach up. reminds me of hakuno who wants to find love and connection but still feels so empty and lacking </3 (this is also a really fitting concept outside of colors or w/e because hakuno does like candy !)

not 2 mention how too much sweets is detrimental to your health ...... just like hakuno who (really has nothing good intentions but) often takes things to the extreme (e.g. selfless to the point of self destruction, she's a very "ride or die" kind of person, etc)

tsun also brought up how it reminded him of fairy tales (being desirable and appealing in that ✨️magical✨️ kind of way; and i like to think that hakuno looks very ethereal) (which is also nice because that contrasts with hakuno's desires to just be a normal human) and witch's house from hansel and gretel with how it looks very cute and sweet but the inside is . A Lot

since we're on this topic anyway-- my hakuno's hair turns from brown to white at the tips. it's inspired by what happens to sakura in ccc canon! a symptom of "deteoration"/"corrosion" due to being shaken up by an unidentified emotion-value (love) ... so methinks hakuno should get it too as someone who's actively trying to better find herself and understand her emotions and humanity 💖 (her hair's not gonna turn fully white, but i just think it'd be a neat reference)

like i don’t think it’s a complete fit, but when jeremy jordan sings in tangled: the series, as varian, i’m like, oh that could be norrix!!! (but then, is it just bc i like his singing voice? similar ish archtype??) but the problem is that varian is clearly younger than norrix by a decade (varian is like 12), but ohhhhh, when he had his villain arc, i looooved him. but his moments of vulnerability, is just!!! ah, i think i could hear it? if he just lowered his voice a lil more?

first half is headcanons and the second half is a lil blurb!

tommy is quite literally distraught

like that’s no exaggeration he is literally heart broken

his baby, his whole world was getting married

for the past 20 years, you had been tommy shelby’s whole world

you were born when tommy was only 17

not even an adult yet himself

so it felt as though you had been with him most of his life

it had kind of just been you and him, in a sense

of course there was the rest of the clan too, and you were incredibly close to them as well

but your mother died in childbirth, so tommy was both mum and dad

he had to do it all alone in that sense

everyone tells him he should be so proud of how he raised you

because you’re sweet and kind

and you have that humour that the war took from tommy

you made people laugh like he had

and you were really the only person that could make him laugh

you were strong, like your mother tommy had always said

but you credit everything you are to him

he was the first man to love you, and teach you how you should be loved

he also taught you how you should be treated, generally a lot better than the average father would

tommy made sure that his daughter would be treated like a queen

you were his princess

so whomever you were to marry, you would be treated as their queen

he made absolutely sure of that

and that marrying was your choice

not something you were coerced into for money or business, but something you wanted

and it was

with a man who you had loved since 16

tommy liked him as much as he could like the man that was going to be taking his baby girls hand and changing her name

the thought of you not being (y/n) shelby, tommy shelby’s little princess, was earth shattering to him

although you had insisted you were keeping it in the middle

alas, tommy knew you were so loved by that man

be that as it may, all parties knew if he stepped a foot out of line or raised a finger in anything but gentility and love

then he would be struck down in a timely and violent fashion by tommy himself

tommy definitely cries that day too

“Tommy?” Grace’s voice immediately draws his attention towards her and away from his thoughts about the impending fact his little girl was getting married in half an hour. His eyes are that kind of wet that shows he’s fighting tears, that he won’t dare let them fall. Grace can see the lump he tries to swallow in his throat and a piece of her heart breaks for him as she sits down on the bench next to him outside the hall where the ceremony would take place. You were inside getting the dress on and getting your hair done with Polly and Ada and previously Grace before she had come out to see if her husband was okay.

He was not.

“Oh Tommy,” Her voice is so soft and caring as she wraps her arm around him and rubs his shoulder, hugging him to her slightly. “She looks so beautiful Tom, and god she’s so happy; can’t stop smiling at all. She still has that smile you talk about, the innocent one and it looks just like yours does sometimes.” Tommy clenches his jaw tightly, still refusing to let those tears go. She sees him clamp down his teeth over his bottom lip to stop it trembling. “It’s alright Tommy, this is good. She’s in love with a man who loves her so much. Almost as much as you do.”

Tommy shakes his head at that, one hand on his knee to brace himself as he tries to speak. “Not possible.” He snips, “And i loved her first.”

His voice breaks on that. The lip finally trembles and he hangs his head with a sharp inhale to let free that shoulder shaking sob. “She was my little baby. How is that my little girl in there? She used to-” Tommy had to pause again, roughly wiping his hand over his face to clear away the tears as he looks up at Grace, “She used to be this big,” he gestures with his hands in a way that she imagined was meant to be him cradling a baby. His voice sounds drastically different than she’s used to because it’s clouded by his tears and his agony.

“She used to ask me to brush her teeth and comb her hair and lift her up to wash her hands,” he bleats, images flashing through his mind of that short little girl who couldn’t reach the bathroom sink. He sees the little girl who stood on top of the toilet so he could brush those teeth and he can see the smile that little girl gave him all those nights when he asked to see to make sure he had brushed them right. “She used to climb into my bed every morning and she used to save up her tooth fairy money to buy us all gifts. She’d save food from her dinner for the dogs on the street and i swear on my life i don’t know how to live without her being my baby girl, Grace.” Tears continue to stream down his cheeks as Grace notices the black and white photograph that looked truly as though it had been through the war; as it had. it was stained and slightly run and it was crumpled. A little girl with a toothless grin and Tommy Shelby’s eyes, even with the lack of colour to the old photograph.

“It’s alright Tommy,” Grace hums, rubbing her husbands back soothingly, “She’s your little girl, she always will be.” She knew there was really nothing else she could say that would ease his pain. There was nothing anyone could do or say that would send you back to the little girl he would could throw over his shoulder and run around the house with. There was nothing that could ease the pain of a fathers aching heart when his baby girl becomes a woman who doesn’t need him like she used to.

“Thomas?”

He and Grace look up at Polly. The look in her eyes speaks for her . “She’s ready?” Tommy asks, prompting his aunt to nod her head with a smile. “Come on then, Tom!” Arthur calls from the grand doorway at the top of the steps to the hall. When Tommy and Grace reach him, Arthur wraps his arm roughly around his brothers shoulder and pulls Tommy into him. “Baby (y/n) getting fuckin’ married eh? Can’t fuckin’ believes she’s this fuckin grown up.” He shakes his head, taking his arm away from his brother when they reach the door of the dressing room where you were waiting. “Beautiful she is, Tom.” Arthur says, “Looks just like mum. In you go.” He ushers his younger brother in that door.

Nobody sees Tommy Shelby quite like you do, and he’s happy for it to stay that way. He’s known it since you were a tiny little girl wrapped up in his arms. He doesn't love anyone like he loves you, so it makes full sense that you are the only person in the world who he allows his vulnerability to fully leak through with. Although, he probably couldn't prevent it even if he tried.

Maybe that’s why he doesn't fight so hard to keep his eyes from welling up when he sees you standing there looking in the mirror, donned in the most beautiful white wedding gown that he’s ever seen. Placed in his hand is the stunning light veil that he had picked out for you. The headband was something like a tiara, because you were his princess and he truly believed that everything you had should be the best the world could offer. The dress too had been extortionate and you would never have gotten it had you known the price it had come to, but Tommy had never allowed you to know. He simply had the designers bring an array of dresses to his estate where you tried them all on with Polly, Ada, Lizzie, Grace, Linda and Esme to comment and complement each dress, as well ad aide you on picking the one that suited you the most with cost never a mention. Tommy had preached he ‘no expense spared’ approach the whole way through the planning of the wedding and any timenhe caught you trying to cut or manage costs, he simply shut you down and enforced the rule that the wedding planner was no longer allowed to discuss prices with you. 

He had truly created the most fantastical day for you, and he would have spent every single penny that he had if it meant giving you the most beautiful start to a new life that he could give. 

You had wanted him to be the one to place that veil on your head with the guidance of your hair dresser to ensure he didn't mess up the design of your hair. He had been the one to place little plastic tiaras on your head when you were merely a little girl who wanted to play princess dress up. He used to be the one to comb back your hair and twirl you around that Watery Lane kitchen with Arthur did the same with Ada and Polly laughed heartily from her seat at the table. 

It felt right to have him put a tiara on you one last time as baby Shelby. 

“You’re beautiful.” He breathes, his lips stretching into a wide and incredibly proud smile. “So, so very beautiful my darling.” Your cheeks blush ever so slightly and you lean over to kiss his cheek. “Thank you, dad.” 

He wants to hug you tightly and never let you go. He wants to will and wish you back to the little girl that he used to twirl around all afternoon. He missed that little girl so much. He had so much love in his heart for you, so much that it overwhelmed him every time he had tried to acknowledge it over the course of your life. 

“I love you.” he says, his shaky voice conveying how much he actually means those words. “So much more than you can ever know. I’m going to miss you so much.” 

You breathe a short laugh, shaking your head at him. “I’m not going anywhere, dad. I’ll still be seeing you all the time. I’ll just have a different name.” You hold his hand tightly in yours as he leads you out of the dressing room and into the hall towards the large double doors that would take you to the isle. 

“Mhm,” he hums, “I suppose. You’ll understand what I mean someday. I just love you so much.” 

“I love you too.” 

“You two ready to go?” The wedding planner asks, watching as you turn to Tommy somewhat excitedly and nod. “You ready dad?” You ask, giving his had a reassuring squeeze. He sighs heavily, but nods his head too, removing his hand from yours and moving his arm so that you can link yours through his. His play on his mind before he says them, a small smile too playing on his lips as the nickname that he used to call you runs through his memory.

“Ready as I’ll ever be, my little love.”

A retouch up on my redesigns, Some color switches and some detail changes:

Ruby’s design is probably the worst in terms of being IC still maybe though the most fun. Her outfit is very lolita inspired, her JSK skirt is shaped to mimic a Sepal with the red petticoats being petals. She has a peter pan collar with embroidery and fancy rose themed arm “warmers” and black and red grippy gloves. Her skirt has pockets. Her shoes are pointy on purpose, Ruby’s character always reminded me of pixies or fairies and pointy shoes remind me of that type of character. Half her hair is curly (like rose blossoms) and longer (like stems), the symbolism is blunt. The cute bows on her shoes and hood is just because I love bows. There is a touch of lace on the bow ties of her hood.  The hood is all red other than lace, Im a doof who ducked up the opacity, but no its not going to see through as part of the design.

Weiss’s design is layered and better suited for cold. I love her side pony tail, but it’s too thick in the show, I added red diamond earrings to reminisce of royalty and removed her tiara, there is some sparkle to her skirt which has black lace at the edge, and subtle blue embroidery to her gloves and top. Her emblem snowflake is on the back of the shoes. I gave her flatter heels because ??? the fuck you skating in heels. The top is like a robe with big poofy sleeves that lead to gloves, the gloves do have little bows. She had layered tights and stockings.

Yang’s outfit was design with bike riding in mind, you need to have a lot of your skin covered in case you biff it. Her turtle neck is cut in a clevage window because she loves her tiddies, and while she hasn’t show her abdomen much I thought it would be a fitting continuing of her very self assured nature. She zips up the jacket when riding. I think bike boots have a lil bit of a heel? So I kept that here, her color palette is soft yellow and light browns, she has a tiny purple pendant necklace for Blake. It’s common when wearing prosthetics to have protective sleeves to reduce chaffing, and yes it’s magic and probably not an issue but I added that detail, the other arm also has cloth because of high friction gauntlet. Her design is more practical and less fashionable here. The weird pouch is just a fantasy element.
