i want Ferelden and Chasind to be taller

like Avvar can stay the biggest at like 8, 9 feet tall but they're all three descended from the same alamarri people. if antiva and orlais get to have indoor plumbing, ferelden should get to be just fhucking huge. i want "short" in the ferelden valley to mean six foot even. i want to walk up to arl teagan in trespasser and see the divine and cyril de what's-his-face are just barely up to his chin. i want zevran to reach ferelden for the first time, see the dock workers are literally twice his size, and start to sweat having to fight anyone here. i want a mod that makes only the ferelden characters 5 inches taller than they were. i want carver hawke to be 7'3"

CONFESSION:

I was so happy to find out that there was a war table operation in Inquisition involving Fergus Cousland.

It's a little disappointing that none of the text changes if the Hero of Ferelden was his sibling, but I was still pleased to see Highever and the Couslands acknowledged outside the Human Noble origin in Origins.

I was even happier to see that it was one of the first war table operations you can do.

Thinking about Fergus Cousland and about how, if you don’t play as a human noble, he canonically loses every member of his family.

As a human noble, you—the player—lose your parents, your nephew, your sister-in-law, and you believe your brother to be dead until the epilogue. If you don’t play the human noble origin, then the younger Cousland sibling is killed, too.

Fergus embarks on a scouting mission for the king, only for most of his unit to be killed in an ambush. He’s nursed to health over several months, and finally, after recovering enough to make it to Denerim, he receives the news: everything he has loved is gone.

His parents. His baby sibling. His wife. His son. All found dead in Highever—all killed the very night after he left for Ostagar.

And then, because this is all after Howe’s death, too, he inherits Highever, and becomes the teryn of his family’s tomb. They died in his home.

Imagine in the end of Dragon Age Origins Fergus is listening to Alistair’s end speech and then hears him casually announce that he’s engaged to Fergus’s little sister and he’s just like “What???”

I have accumulated enough WIPs over the course of a year or two I felt like I could dump some of them. My little warden commander

Aileana was the most annoying little sister ™️ ever. She spent a lot of time chasing Fergus and Nate around, begging them to let her play with them. They were obliging… mostly.

Some other lore bits:

- Aileana is 6 years younger than Fergus (8 for Nate). She somehow was often able to talk her way into being a part of their larking.

- Bryce was entirely too indulgent with his daughter. He allowed her most of whatever she asked for. This was often attending on hunting parties and training with the knights.

- When she was 6 Fergus got her hair caught in the well crank. In a panic, he cut her free with his knife. She has not cut her hair since and is dubious of well cranks.

- She gets violently seasick, much to her mother’s disappointment.

- Is best friends with her brother. Despite their age gap, they managed to get along swimmingly.

- Received her Mabari, Barkspawn, for her 16th birthday. The name was a joke at first, but it stuck.

- Had a MASSIVE crush on Ser Gilmore. One night on a hunting party she snuck away from camp. He followed her in hopes to convince her to return to camp. They ended up having to take shelter in a cave as a massive storm rolled in. The night ended in a kiss that was never spoken of again.

- Her full name is Aileana Muirne Cousland. Her middle name was her father’s grandmothers, who raised him alongside his widowed father.

- Collected “borrowed” spoons from noble dinner parties growing up. She eventually snuck them back as queen, feeling guilty for her past thefts.

- Spent a lot of time in the Highever chantry, per the guidance of her parents. She enjoyed the peace, but grew bored of the stillness.

regarding the amaranthine/wardens vs kirkwall plot happening in the background of da2, how does minerva handle that?

oh she’s running that show.

i doubt she engages in trade and combat on the waking sea personally, there’s an image to maintain, but it’s definitely her people. definitely it’s her people out there asking shady kirkwall mercenaries to take out those trying to stop her.

she’d be so into throwing amaranthine’s weight around a bit, and of course defending the fereldan crown’s interests on the high seas. (while they’re platonic divorced, king alistair and warden-commander minerva still get a kick out of doing things in each other’s interests, both out of devotion they can’t otherwise act upon and because it lets them get an inch of the moral high ground on each other. it’s as weird as it sounds. and for more pragmatic reasons, the closer she can politically tie him and anora to herself, the more indispensable and integral and convenient she is to them, the better. as a sensible ward against them ever being able to turn against her or cut her loose.)

i’d love to see a saga of her joining hands with the sons of the sea wolf—in my heart my tristan cousland still exists as well as fergus, though god knows what happens to him—to do it. highever & amaranthine have always been closely bound for a reason, sharing the northern coast, and i would love to see minerva negotiating that dynamic after its, ahem, complete breakdown under her predecessor, while categorically refusing to swear the fealty the howes once did. really fun. she’d be incredibly in her element in all of this and i’ve been thrilled ever since i found out that da2 hints at it
