altho it's sometimes said that jun told jin "everything" about kazuya & his family before ogre attacked. i... still don't think he knew he had the devil gene ever. i don't know if jun disclosed things about kazuya being a devil. just because... it's never mentioned in any of jin's bios that jin is aware of the devil gene, or the devil gene even being brought up at all. plus, jin seemed pretty shocked in tk4, resorting to "hating" the devil gene that ran through his blood. when he didn't have this vicious response to it before. so yeah... whilst jin might've been told about kazuya being his father, i still don't think he was exactly given details. (especially not details about his father being an evil devil bastard) i think he was most likely just told "oh yeah, your family are actually the prestigious mishimas" and maybe told vague details that his father had to die over something but like. it's also clear that jin didn't know they were evil or about their tendency to betray or hurt each other. because again... why would he be so surprised and taken off guard by heihachi's betrayal?

You're fidgeting with your rings - his rings, actually, that you stole months ago - when Lewis notices your knee bouncing for the hundredth time. The arena feels too warm despite your backless Valentino.

"You're going to drill a hole through the floor, love," he murmurs, leaning close enough that his lips brush your ear. His hand finds yours, warm and steady.

"Easy for you to be calm," you whisper back. "You've won eight world championships."

"Seven," he corrects automatically, making you roll your eyes.

"The eighth was robbed and we all know it." It's an old argument, one that makes him smile every time. "Besides, this is different. This is-"

"This is you about to win Song of the Year," he finishes, so confident it makes your heart ache.

You turn to face him properly, taking in how unfairly good he looks in his suit. "How are you so sure?"

"Because," he says, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, "I was there when you wrote it at 3 AM on my kitchen floor. When you called me crying because the bridge wasn't right."

"You're biased," you argue, but you're smiling now. "You have to say that. It's in the boyfriend contract."

"Ah yes, the famous 'support your controversially young girlfriend' clause," he teases, and you can't help but laugh. It's become a running joke between you, how the media can't seem to get over your age gap.

"Speaking of which, did you see that headline yesterday? 'Grammy Nominee Spotted Looking Cozy with Elder Statesman of F1'?"

Lewis groans. "Elder statesman? I'm forty, not dead."

"Ancient," you declare solemnly. "Practically fossilized."

He's about to retort when Taylor Swift takes the stage, and suddenly you can't breathe again. Lewis must feel you tense because his hand tightens around yours.

"Hey," he says softly. "Whatever happens, you've already won. Seven nominations in your first year? That's unheard of."

"I just want-" you start, but then Taylor's speaking.

"Music tells our stories," she's saying. "And sometimes, a song comes along that captures something so real, so raw, that it changes how we see love itself..."

You feel Lewis shift beside you, and when you glance over, he's already watching you with that look - the one he gave you the first time you played him this song, the one that makes you feel invincible.

"And the Grammy goes to..." Taylor's smiling now, like she knows something. "'Birds of a feather!"

The world stops. Starts. Explodes.

Lewis is up first, pulling you into his arms before you can even process what's happening. "That's my girl," he whispers fiercely against your hair. "I told you, didn't I? I told you."

You're crying already, you can feel it, but you don't care. His hands cup your face and he's beaming at you with more pride than you've ever seen - more than after any pole position or race win.

"Go get your Grammy, superstar," he says, and then he's gently pushing you toward the aisle.

The walk to the stage feels infinite. You're aware of everything - the weight of your dress, the cameras following you, the deafening applause. But mostly, you're aware of Lewis in the front row, standing and clapping like he's watching the love of his life win Song of the Year at the Grammys (which, you suppose, he is).

"Oh god," you start, gripping the golden gramophone like a lifeline. "I wrote this song about falling in love. About meeting someone who changes everything when you least expect it."

You find his eyes in the crowd, and suddenly it's just the two of you.

"I should probably thank Formula 1 for canceling that race in Singapore, or I never would've been in that hotel bar, jetlagged and grumpy, when this absolutely ridiculous man in the most expensive hoodie I'd ever seen asked if he could buy me a drink."

The audience laughs, and Lewis is shaking his head, grinning that grin that still makes your knees weak.

"To Lewis - thank you for being the most unexpected plot twist of my life. For showing me that timing is everything, even when Twitter thinks our timing is inappropriate." More laughter. "For listening to every demo at 3 AM, for believing in me when I was just another girl with a piano and a dream..."

You're fully crying now, but so is he, so it's okay.

"For never once making me feel too young or too inexperienced, for teaching me that love doesn't follow anyone's timeline but its own. And yes, I know this speech is probably going viral for all the wrong reasons, but you taught me that sometimes the best stories are the ones nobody sees coming. I love you."

The camera cuts to Lewis, who's not even trying to hide his tears. But neither of you seem to care at the moment.

Later, after winning four out of your seven nominations, you're in the back of the car heading home. Your head's on his shoulder, Grammy in your lap, when he speaks.

"You know what this means, right?"

"Hmm?"

"Now I have to win the championship this year. Can't have you showing me up with all these trophies."

You laugh, snuggling closer. "Better get practicing then, old man."

"Menace," he mutters fondly, pressing a kiss to your hair.

About your language brainrot. I see your "Reader's writing can't match tyvat's long and flowery writing" and bring you "Tyvat isn't used to books over 50 pages long so a short story to the Reader is a whole dictionary to tyvat readers".

Seriously, have you seen how thin the books are? They don't wrote novels, they write short chapters formatted in the way really old stories are. As in, summarizing all the events down into one smooth story then adding a few quotes. Fanfiction writers are insane. They will willingly sit down and write hundreds of words at a time. To them, a proper modern day story of maybe, oh 10k words or so, would probably be like the Oddessy itself.

If we were to combine the two headcanons. It would end up as many historians being intimidated by this insanely long written scripture in the language of the forgotten.

I'm going to take this a step further and say that if the creator asked some people to proofread their things, it would establish a hiarchy of who is able to actually finish the book the creator read and who isn't.

Tobio didn’t make fun of shoyo when he said he was a ball boy bc he fully supports his boyfriend’s wrongs.

He would sneak into a camp uninvited, he would go to Brazil just to learn and get better at the sport. He’s just as driven, just as dedicated he simply had more opportunities. As in the chance to start playing vb and working towards his goals earlier.

I know the whole natural talent vs hard work discourse in this fandom gets tired so I’d like to avoid talking about it further but I still wonder how do so many people underestimate how dedicated Kageyama is to volleyball

I do think the fandom is aware that kageyama is a volleyball freak but many don’t see him as inspiring in the same way they view characters like Hinata or Oikawa because his story isn’t told through an underdog perspective.

He succeeds really young and continues to succeed even bigger which often gets read as being handed things on a silver platter rather than perseverance.

In contrast we see oikawa struggle “for longer” he doesn’t make it to nationals, he doesn’t get everything he desires. So the audience feel for him, they project onto him. They admire him for “working harder” precisely because he doesn’t get to win until the very end.

Kageyama gets to Nationals, he becomes an Olympian at 19, wins countless time with his team. He even get to achieve his dreams of becoming Japan’s best duo with hinata when Iwaoi could never (I’m joking but not really)

seriously tho tobio’s success shouldn’t make his story any less compelling than Oikawa’s especially since they are basically two sides of the same coins. if you think oikawa’s arc is amazingly done? well…

More importantly the same qualities that people admire tooru so much for are traits tobio carries as well : they are both resilient, passionate, determined etc etc

Yes tobio has an advantage of playing vb since he was basically 0 years old but he also had a very challenging childhood, went though so much isolation and rejections, from not having anyone to keep up with him to losing his support system to his teammates abandoning him but he never once became discouraged or thought about giving up.

He always shows up at the gym to practice every single time despite EVERYTHING he went through.

It’s only a fair to note that Oikawa had his own kind of privilege. He always had his childhood friend by his side and never experienced the same kind of loneliness tobio did.

Kageyama’s serves are so amazing and that’s because it’s one of the few skills he could practice completely on his own. He became so good at serving because he didn’t have anyone to practice everything else with.

Oikawa also is naturally charismatic which makes it easier for him to communicate and connect with any of his teammates… a huge advantage for a setter and that’s something Kageyama inherently lacked. He had to work hard to develop those skills.

The Absence of India in Discussions on Queer Asian Media

So, yesterday @lurkingshan tagged me in an ask she got from @impala124 about the absence of India when we're talking about queer Asian media. I was intially just going to reblog it with my thought, but as it kept growing I figured it'd be best to just make my own post. Please read the ask linked above first so this makes sense.

*cracks knuckles* this is going to be the most fun I've had writing a post in ages. (For a little background, I'm a queer Indian, born and raised)

So, this is a very interesting question on a subject I've been rotating in my head for the past several months. There's a lot of different variables that contribute to the noticeable lack of discussion on Indian and South Asian queer media in general, so I'm just going to talk through the ones I've noticed a little randomly.

Talking about Asian media in general, it's well known that the mass popularity of kpop and anime has contributed massively to the increase in popularity of Asian media. If you've been in the Asian media fandom for any amount of time at all, you'll have noticed that media from Korea, Japan, and China gets by far the most attention from international audiences; all East Asian countries. There may be several reasons for this, but in particular, it's no secret that the fetishization of East Asians is a massive proponent in the popularity of media from these countries, while there's no such interest in South Asians. If we shift our focus to queer media specifically, media from these three countries is still extremely popular, with the addition of Thailand and the Philippines to some extent; both South East Asian countries. From what I've seen, there's very little international interest in media from South Asian countries (although, if we're talking about India specifically, I can't exactly say anything. Bollywood has not been good lately). If we talk about queer South Asian media, the scope of interest falls even further. If you'll notice, MyDramaList, one of the most commonly used websites for finding and tracking Asian shows only allows for East and South-East Asian shows. So, that's one reason—there's just not much international interest in Indian media in general. As Shan said in the initial post, it's partially because of a difference in priorities. Korea is notorious for using media to gain global standing, the role of the 'soft power' of Thai bls in the recent bills for equal marriage in Thailand has been widely discussed, the list goes on. Could racism also play a part in the massive gulf of interest in media from East Asian versus South Asian countries? Probably. But I'm not going to get into that too much.

Moving on, there's obviously a massive lack of queer media in India. I think this is greatly exacerbated by the fact that it's very hard to support the people making queer media beyond buying and/or streaming their work. The majority of people engaging with Indian queer media are queer Indians, and a lot of us have to do so in secret because of the society we live in. This means that creators that have to push through several obstacles to publish their work often receive little incentive to continue doing so because of the lack of engagement. Because of the lack of media, international fans are less likely to become interested in queer Indian media, and the cycle continues.

I will say though, contrary to what Shan said, I think Indian media, particularly anything that came out post 2019 might actually be on the easier end of the spectrum when it comes to access. This may simply be bias, so forgive me if I'm wrong here, but from what I've seen, a lot of queer Indian shows are in fact available on streaming sites, and at most you'd need a vpn to access them. I think the two main things that actually hold back queer Indian media from becoming more popular are a lack of noise and it's relatively lower quality.

The main way we find out about new shows in this space is through either word of mouth (well actually, post) or because we follow production houses known for producing media. Because of the sparse nature of both the media and the consumers, there's very few people who learn enough about the media to want to give it a shot. For example, there's a film on netflix called Badhaai Do (hindi for Congratulate Us) that I've been meaning to watch for a while. It centers around a lavender marriage and I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I was slightly surprised to see that most of the people on tumblr I interact with who have been engaging with queer media for far longer than me had never heard of it. There's also a, Indian BL from 2017 called Romil and Jugal that I've written about before here, and I would've never learned of it's existence if not for a friend hearing about it from another friend of hers.

Because there's so little queer indian media, it's natural that the quality leaves much to be desired. The main issue is, because the queer asian media market has become so saturated lately people are becoming a lot more selective with what they watch, and for good reason. This means that queer media from india is simply unable to grow and improve over time, leaving it stagnant. Back in 2016-2018, the overall dearth of queer media from Asia meant that a lot of people were willing to watch shows that were average or even worse. Thailand particularly seems to have benefitted from this, being able to grow and evolve its queer media due to the successes of shows like SOTUS, 2gehter, TharnType and more even recently, KinnPorsche. Queer Indian media will have a much, much harder time with this because of all of the factors I've talked about and more, meaning that it is much harder for queer media to evolve. Honestly, though I haven't been able to watch/read much queer media from India, the stuff I have seen is really quite decent, it's just that it tends to fail in comparison to some of the brilliant stuff we're seeing from other countries. A while a ago, I bought four queer books by Indian authors, and of the three I've read so far, I'd genuinely recommend two, albeit one with quite a few reservations (I'll be writing about them sometime in the future, just haven't found the time yet). While talking about this with @neuroticbookworm, she brought up the excellent point of how Indian media in general has just been of fairly poor quality lately. It seems to me that a lot of it is catered to more conservative audiences, which results in people like me becoming disillusioned with Indian media and simply moving onto things from other countries. It has been a long time since I've watched anything worthwhile come out of Bollywood. So, it becomes even harder for queer Indian shows to be found at all; a majority of their target audience has already forsaken Indian media as a lost cause.

So, those are a bunch of reasons because of which there's not a lot of discussion about queer Indian media in fandom spaces like Tumblr. Something else I'd like to point out is, it's very hard for queer shows in India to gain much traction whatsoever. Live television slots are ruled by the infamous Indian serials, the majority of the audience being people in their late thirties and older, particularly women. And while homophobia is just as prevalent amongst the youth of India as it is amongst older generations, younger people are far more likely to be engaging with queer media, in India at least. This means that it would be near impossible for queer shows to air on live television the way they do in countries like Thailand and Japan. The majority of Indian youth use global streaming services to watch shows, hence the greater concentration of queer shows on service platforms. (Romil and Jugal is something of a dark horse here—I don't believe it was ever aired, but it was produced by a producer who has a few decently popular serials under her belt and is available on an Indian steaming service—another reason I'm determined to research how tf this show ever came into existence) If we talk of movies, the industry is limited by the iron fist of Bollywood, another reason it's very hard for queer movies to be produced and why they're generally found on streaming sites.

There's just not a lot of people who have the balls it would take to make a queer Indian show/movie and push it to the Indian public beyond a streaming service. I mean, we're all seeing what's happening with the Love in The Big City drama right now, and believe me, public backlash in India would be the same, if not much worse. And if no one in India is watching these shows, why would anyone in any other part of the world? There's barely any public figures that would be willing to participate in such a project, so queer media stays underground. Currently, Karan Johar is the most popular—and one of the only—out celebrities in Bollywood, and, well, he's treated as something of a laughing stock by the public. He has one or two queer adjacent shows under his belt as a producer, but once again, they're barely known and available only on Netflix. There was a movie called Dostana in which he played a straight guy pretending to be gay but, well, that speaks for itself. And well, I can't exactly blame him for it, knowing how the Indian entertainment industry is.

To talk a little more about the specific comparison between India and Korea, I think you're fairly accurate in saying that the two countries seem to be roughly on par in terms of homophobia, although that's an extremely vague statement that's rather hard to either prove or disprove. While the difference in international attention towards Korean and Indian media is certainly a major component of the difference in discussion about the queer media from these countries, there's obviously other things that go into it as well. There's this video I watched some time ago on the progression of queer representation in K-dramas that's quite well researched. It's an hour and a half long, so in case you don't have the time to watch it (though I do recommend it), it basically talks about some of the dramas with queer rep that have aired on Korean television and their impact. While it's hard to gauge the level of impact of these shows on the availability of bls and gls in Korea, they certainly had an effect, if only telling the queer population of Korea that they are seen and heard. To my knowledge (although I may be mistaken), no such queer rep has ever aired on Indian television, meaning that there's nothing to push creators to put queer media out there. There have been old movies and shows that depict queerness, but none of them ever reached the sort of the scale where they may have some sort of impact on the industry. As I mentioned earlier, the widespread popularity of K-dramas (and k-pop) does make it easier for creators to make queer media since there's a much higher chance of the shows being successful thanks to the international audience. Bringing back Love In The Big City, the success of the book abroad and the high probability of the show being well received internationally is probably one of the reasons it was able to be produced amongst domestic backlash.

Now, I've been talking a lot about how it's difficult for queer Indian media to gain any sort of international recognition with domestic attention. However, it's not necessarily the case. Here's where I start rambling (I say, as if this post isn't verging on 2k words). It's been proven that the presence of the international market allows for greater creative freedom in spaces beyond television. The best example comes from Korea's very own 'soft power'; K-pop. There's a K-pop group called Dreamcatcher that debuted in 2017 with a rock sound and horror concept that was extremely rare in kpop at the time. They succeeded mainly by focusing most of their promotions to the foreign market, knowing that their concept would not be well liked in Korea. And they succeeded. Today, Dreamcatcher has a sizeable fandom and has even been growing in popularity in Korea, with the Korean public warming up to their genre and having influenced other girl groups to try out similar sounds. We've already talked about the lack of international attention for Indian media, but there's also the issue that the producers of queer Indian media aren't marketing to foreign audiences, which remain ignorant.

That's all I have, this is so long good lord. All in all, there's a bunch of factors that feed into each other creating a cycle which means that, unless there's a break somewhere, queer Indian media will remain unrecognized. I'm excited to see what other people have to say, because this is a topic close to my heart and I'd definitely enjoy seeing more discussions around it.

Bad mentioned on his stream that all the dead eggs lives impacted how different we treat the eggs on the server and I realized that EVERY egg death changed history on the server and how we treat the eggs.

Juanaflippa- Obviously her second death made everyone very weary with the beds (and the admins bc i believe they made the beds harder to break). But her third death with sweeping edge and how everyone needs to be careful around the eggs with swords.

Tilin - Their death kinda goes hand in Juanaflippa about how NOT TO USE SWORDS around the eggs. But also Charlie went into eggxcile because of Tilins death and that snowballed into Gegg. Also helped with Luzu’s character and how he switched to Arin and with the computer/Code.

Chayanne- Technically chayanne lost their first life to neglect BUT the nightmare Phil, chayanne, and Tallulah had i believe introduced ‘nightmares’. Also it made the admins disable some born in chaos mobs and made Philza even more paranoid about the island than he already was.

Bobby - his death was the first permadeath we had since the trio died. It hurt a lot and made Forever realize that his death could have been prevented. Thus making Forever build the Ninho and make everyone very cautious of everything.

Ramon - same with Chayanne’s were his first death was to a Blaze but his nightmare was significant. It made the admins make solid ground rules about certain things and make sure everyone knows the rules about reinforced bases.

Leo- Her death with whales made everyone realized how fucking beefy and super dangerous the whales are. Also that you shouldnt just AFK anywhere. That you should try to be in a safe place before AFKing.

Dapper - His first death was SUPER significant. It made people realize that the code is learning and adapting. Thus made Bad, Forever, Cellbit, and Etoiles go to Luzus computer and explode it. Which lead to Forever getting pieces of the computer and getting the motivation to try to bargain with it. Which lead to Cellbits betrayal and enderchests getting banned. It also gave the most insane book by Cucurcho which is “Perfect for you or for me?”

Richarlyson- His first day nightmare gave us that the eggs have first day immunity. Then his actual death showed us that uhh fuck bulls and that Mike blames himself for Richas death to this day. Also gave us Imortalyson and kinda Richarlyson’s mindset of ‘fuck it we ball’. All he has ever known is one life.

Trumpet - THE MOST IMPORTANT DEATH ON THE FUCKING SERVER HOLY SHIT. Yes Trumpet died from neglect but his death lead to the Theory Bros. For those who dont know, Bad went to Maxs house to comfort him about Trumpets death and one of the ways he tried to get Maxs mind off of Trumpets death is talk about how weird the island is. Thus Bad and Max theorizing about the island and the rest is history. Also it lead to Max and Bad interacting more and kinda making Max talk to more people around the island.

Tallulah - Her nightmare with Phil and Chayanne has significance as stated above. But her death with the Code is significant because it was the first time Forever saw an egg’s death. It deeply upset him and made him a lot more serious about the eggs. Also again made Philza more paranoid.

Pomme- She hasnt died yet but her nightmare I would say is pretty significant. Kinda with Ramons nightmare, it helped give the players, admins, and audience some more rules on things and what the admins can/cant do. It also made everyone realize “Holy shit theres a weapon that does 50000 damage and will one shot you and destroy your armor” which is terrifying on its own.

Everything is so significant on this fucking island and every egg is extra significant to this island. No death is taken in vain. They truly shaped the island and everything we know about it

favorite rotg theory?

I honestly forgot most of the theories bc I disagree with most of them tbh. imo most fan theories tend to overcomplicate or villainise/de-villianise characters while completely missing the point.

but this is a positive question so i'll try my best lmao

I think my favourite is probably that Jack lost his memories not because of the Man in the Moon, but because he died. Whether that be because of a resurrection, or because of trauma induced amnesia.

Although, tbh, my personal (related) theory is that Jack never even died in the first place. If we look at his first scene, we can see him let out a breath as soon as he leaves the water

if he'd died of drowing, he'd have to cough up all the water he'd inhaled, or at least not have anything breath left to exhale.

(also, interesting that his breath in this scene is always misty, like its warm. and is like that for multiple breaths, so not necessarily "the last warm breath he had left in him" since he's continuously exhaling warmth. which also implies that Jack is warm-blooded, not cold or undead, but alive.

I'm realising now that I have a lot of theories... idk man, it's kinda hard to pick a favourite when you could debate every point with the same enthusiasm.)

it's so quick for a drowning, which are notoriously fast. Google suggests it takes 3 minutes to drown, which this is well under.

and yes, this is possibly just a cinematic verison of events, sped up for the viewers sakes.

however, what if it's not. what if Jack entered the water, the Man in the Moon saw it, knew that no one in this time period was going to be able to save him, and just sort of put him on pause. suspended animation, if you will, so that he had time to save him as best he could.

This theory is also part of my "the Man in the Moon did nothing wrong" movement.

What evidence do we have that the Man in the Moon has enough power to do anything more than he already does? What evidence do we have that the Man in the Moon didn't drain his powers saving Jack?

The only time in the entire movie that we know he actually, audibly spoke to anyone on Earth was the very beginning where Jack says he told him his name. And even that wasn't audible to the audience! Only Jack heard that, so potentially he could be restricted by any number of things - only being able to speak through mental connections, only to his "creations" or "beneficiaries", only through abstract thoughts.

If we throw GoC into the mix

(which nobody has to, but I like to. I've been vagued before about forcing other people to accept GoC as canon, but I'm not trying to do that and never was. I just like it and want to use it as my canon.)

then we can play with the timeline a little, as GoC canonincally happens "some decades" before the steam train is invented: The steam train is invented in 1784 so GoC probably takes place in around the 1740s.

Jack is 300 ish in 2012, so his "birthday" is probably around 1712. So he was around well before the Guardians even existed (or, well, the group was formed at least. GoC Manny, Bunny and Sandy are millenia old, North is in his twenties/thirties probably and Tooth is a bit of a mystery, so..).

Which means that the Man in the Moon resurrected Jack before Pitch was even woken by Nightlight, and he was presumed dead.

The Man in the Moon only ever communicates through specific mirrors (actually I think they were gongs but basically it functions like a window) in GoC, except for book 5 where they physically go to the moon - but book 5 is weird and breaks the RotG canon so I don't count it - which also lends itself to this theory that the Man in the Moon expended his power resource before GoC. So he couldn't talk to Jack more than he had. Jack would have needed to go find one of these mirrors (one is in the Lunar Lamadry in the Himalayas, I believe on top of Mt Everest????).

GoC also sets the Man in the Moon up to be kind but incredibly distant and unsocialised. He was raised on the moon by his parent's robot servants and only interacted with Earth through their technology. To him being alone is just his normal, so he probably doesn't see Jack's isolation as a that big of a deal.

anyway, sorry that got a bit out of hand. Here are some honorable mentions for theories that I like:

Jack is descended from Katherine and Nightlight (yes this breaks the GoC/RotG canon I just established - this would have to be a different timeline to that)

Jamie is descended from Jack's Sister

Jack's Sister is named Mary (technically confirmed to be true by Joyce - I like the nickname Molly for Mary)

Baby Tooth was granted free will by Jack naming her & will develop & grow more now that she's no longer a part of the collective (I think this originated with @drowningostrich but I'm not sure)

Mother Nature is friends with all nature/element/seasonal spirits including Jack and Bunny

There's a fuck ton of other spirits out there who have their own society that Jack was just largely on the outskirts of (not necessarily an outcast, but more like a forgotten aspect)

Let's talk about how the Avatar creators don't know how to handle their own creation

Yes, I will forever be thankful for atla and tlok existence but I can't ignore how much they changed in the way they treat their own characters. Especially the women and the dark skinned ones

And yes, who am I to think I know more about the character than the ppl who wrote them? I know. But I just can't witness without saying anything

1. Katara in tlok

No, I didn't want her to fight and get her ass beat like Zuko. She is an old lady after all. And even tho I still think it's believable that after she got pregnant, she stepped out of the fight path and became a full time mom, bc I think it makes sense that she decided to be for her children the mother that she didn't have. But...

In Republic City see Aang big ass statue, we see Zuko's, we see Toph's, we see Sokka's, so where the hell is Katara's? In Jinora 's tattoo ceremony, where is Katara? It's like they forgot her existence sometimes.

What's her legacy in tlok? We see that Sokka was a respectable council, Toph was a respectable chef of police, Zuko regained the honor of his nation (we see there's no prejudice against firebenders, and ppl from Fire Nation) and Aang...well I don't even need to tell about. But where is Katara legacy?

And Suki...poor Suki tho. She is not even mentioned

2. Kuruk

As much as Kyoshi novels gave him more depth and cleaned his legacy. We need more about him. He is the Avatar ( apart from Wan and now Korra) that deals with the spirits. A book or a show about him, focusing on the spirits lore would do wonders for the Avatarverse.

He is prob the most underrated Avatar. Most of the randoms and even some fans still have this idea that he was a bad Avatar bc he only wanted to party and all. And Bryke does NOTHING to give him lore, to give him the attention he deserves.

Why they greenlight the Roku novels? The new show it seems that will deal a lot with spirits so why they choose Roku instead of a Kuruk novel where they could deep dive into this and prepare the fans for the new show? Make it make sense.

They don't care if ppl think Kuruk is useless. But they cared about Roku jokes enough to make him a novel and making him powerful

Ps: I know Bryke is not the one that wrote the novels but they are for sure the ones that approve or disapprove what's in them and which Avatar will have their novel and which will not

3. Korra

They don't hide anymore how much they hate Korra. Since Avatar became popular again, Korra suffered even more hate bc of this generation of incels and Bryke chose to please them instead of the fans. How long we don't have Korra content? The 10y anniversary went by and they didn't even make a post about it. No hq (apart from Mako and Bolin one that's was announced), no novel, no official art, no movie... Nothing. They want to erase her.

Not only this,but also shit on her legacy. And yeah, let's give the brown bissexual character who suffered unnecessary hate, more "reason" for ppl to hate her and bully her fandom 👍. A fandom that is full of woc and lgbt - two groups of ppl who already suffer hate just for exist.

"oh but they say she is the strongest Avatar ever" I DONT GIVE A FUCK. All I wanted (and all of a lot of fans wanted) is for them to treat her with respect and decency. Just like they treat Aang, Zuko, Toph, Sokka... They making her be the strongest is a "shut up" for her fans not to complain Abt them destroying her legacy

4. The disconnection with the fandom

With this show, they don't want to please the fans. They want to please the random audience, the one that jumps from show to show without joing the fandom. And this is bad because the Avatar Studios is not solidified in the industry yet. They need the Adult Gaang and the new show to be a success.

The problem is the majority of the fandom didn't want a new avatar right after Korra, I'm on other social medias, so other bubbles and I can guarantee this. Ppl wanted a show about Adult Gaang, older Korra, adaptation of Kyoshi and Yangchen novels, an new Avatar somewhere in the 10.000y cycle Wan started... Yet they choose none of this.

And why is it important to give the fans what they want now? Because this would allow AS to gain money and become a respectable studio, and only then go for more "dangerous" projects.

They want to please the fandom, the incels and the woke mob all at once and this never worked well. And they are about to retcon and prob pretend tlok didn't exist, just to please the incels

They recast all of the voices, and Aang's new VA is apparently pro-Israel. Like, they want to be "cool and representative" when casting only based on ethnicity but didn't bother to cast someone not pro genocide to play a genocide survivor? Talk about performative activism right there.

5. The Comics

I didn't read all of them but the ones I read show some of the worst mischaracterization I've seen. Asami, who never lost a fight and was always helpful, being a damsel in distress. Aang, one of the most emphatic characters of the Avatarverse showing empathy towards Ozai but not Azula? Pós book 4 Korra acting like b1 Korra, and getting her ass kicked by some random criminal? Azula being genuinely stupid? What the actual fuck?

Oh, and different from the Novels, the comics are written by at least one of the Bryke

I just wanna get a little bit into this one comment right here bc those are actually one of my exact issues with Alastor as a character and I can't believe I never acknowledged this. His manipulation tactic fucking. Suck. Ass.

Yes, Alastor was able to manipulate Husk into signing a contract, but when it comes to Charlie...how do I even explain this.

His attitude towards Charlie has changed which I began to notice. I rewatched the hh pilot and began to compare Al's relationship with Charlie compared to how their dynamic is in the show. And let me tell you, Al was waaaaay more nicer to Charlie in the pilot. In the show, he straight up calls Charlie 'delusional' with 'daddy issues'. And I said wtf? Didn't he call her a 'charming demon bell'? Why is he more bitter towards Charlie? The princess of hell? To me, that's so out of character. It would've made it more interesting to see Al have a completely different personality to add on more onto his plans.

I believe what was originally going FOR Alastor was that he was supposed to act professional and act like a gentleman to the main cast before his true intentions were shown later on. I wish that route took THERE because in the pilot, his evil intentions were rarely shown. He was more trusting. His manipulation towards Charlie was less obvious. But now, in the show, we as the audience know he will betray Charlie at some point. The way Alastor does it too makes me gag in disgust. He's just overall mean, rude, and a dickhead. You can't really call him mysterious or enjoy him as a character bc how you know he just wants power. We already know what he's going to do. Even though he was not supposed to be this predictable. And that's boring.

With the impending return of BTS I have been thinking how are they going to tackle their comeback. There was quite a few posts on here how it could look like. And I cant help thinking that I truly wish for them, all the boys I mean, to be who they really are - just like Jikook were wondering together how should their future look like after MS.

Because lets be honest, by the time they're back (and I dont think we will get any major album/concerts/tour this year) almost all the boys will be 30 or over. Only JK - one out of 7 members will be still in his 20s. And I truly hope (and someone else wrote about this already) they will cater to a more mature audience. Bc they got older but so did the fans, right? There are so many kpop groups that are younger and they should fulfil that need for having idols playing into their trope of boyfriend etc.

But not BTS anymore. They have shown during their solo chapter how mature they are, how much depth there is to them - they are not boys anymore. There is no need for being blushing mess when singing about sex etc. Let them be the grownups they have become!

One other thing I wish for them is to let go of the constructs of kpop, of fanservice etc. They are succesful beyond measure now, they dont need to play into that shit, into theories of crazy tkkokers, of looking for crumbs of connecetion. And Im sorry (not really though) for saying this, but there is one particular member who LOVES fs and loves to play into it - you know who I mean. He will take any chance to do that - look how he behaved at the movie premiere with JK, or the time they spend time on Hawaii - he milked the fact they were together...

I hope they know the power they truly hold, there is no other BTS and there wont ever be.

And if some fans leave due to things changing - let them go on their merry way - they dont deserve those boys anyway....

The fact they will have time to prepare and regroup before putting new content out gives me hope that they will actually time to THINK and they should think hard about this new direction, it will either make it or break it.

I don't believe they can remain the same as they have been - it's pretty unrealistic and change is normal especially with age.

I also wish they would not play into the kpop game of fanservice in the future, honestly they really don't need to, but look what happened with the anime, and look what this member is doing (and kept doing even during military, this guy is on a MISSION, which obviously isn't good for anyone - whatever his reasons are.)

Unfortunately I don't see any of it stopping unless they all have a serious talk.

My opinion for a while is that Hybe keeps playing it small despite the member's success, it's like they kept a small company mindset and can't seem to ditch the underdog attitude, can't open to new ways of doing things, can't open to how international the band is (this alone needs to be studied because their inability to go international is almost comical - just look at their international job offers written in korean 😂), can't ditch the kpop game because they never believed they would break it the first place and now that they did they simply don't know how to handle it properly.

Some koreans are very conservative, and it seems many at hybe are older people, so my bet is that if you put something like CHANGE into their hands...will they actually be able to do it? Can they handle it?

Kpop is ingrained into the band since its debut. The members surely don't define themselves with the label anymore, but how does the company see it now? Are they truly capable of handling global superstars, and not just idols?

Can they go beyond the mold of kpop and push a different agenda?

I have a lot of doubts about this.

Yes the members have influence obviously but they need the company to back them up.

The anime was made I guess without the member's consent.

I guess it also circles back to jikook's questioning "how do we want to live our life moving forward".

What is good about this, is that jikook will be able to think about those questions together and come to conclusions together AND THEN share everything with the group to find a middle ground with everyone. Somehow it eases my heart a little bit that their shared decisions might come first and that they are allowed also to decide how they want to present themselves with the world (more maturely too?).

Maybe everyone will finally cut the crap (ohhh I wish)

That would be good if some fans left indeed and that they kept more mature ones (if all tkkers could go actually...they don't even care about the music 💀)

Whatever the direction (it could go in so many ways) I just hope the members themselves will be happy about it, and that they will be able to express whatever they want just how they want it. That's my only wish.

i don't even care about bychance and am personally open to whatever happens as long as it feels right. But the Duffers said some people might not like the way things go in season 5, and for all we know, they were talking about bychance in that sentence. The truth is that they did whatever the hell THEY felt is right for their story, and nothing we do or say will change what they have already decided.

will deserves an opportunity outside of mike to reclaim his agency and not be a bystander in his own love life, and Mike deserves the opportunity to step into his heart's true desire in a way that feels natural to him and not at the face of the world exploding if he doesn't confess. but bc he WANTS to.

the writers are walking a very fine line when depicting this bc they have to balance this with everything else going on, in the very limited time they have. ironically, that's why I think bychance is the fastest way to achieve both those things

agency for will, catalyst for mike. like, bychance could literally be done as a one-time thing and still serve a purpose. I'm talking legit within ONE episode kinda deal.

I'm not against queer ships but you guys do realize MHA is shounen, right? It was also serialized in Jump. Gay ships were never going to be canon in such a series. And I have to say that Ochako and Izuku were like the most obvious ship to be setup and become canon. The writing was very straightforward in that department.

I like Bakudeku but Bakudeku is tame compared to other shounen rivals and shounen duos in other storie and mangas out there. By 'tame' I mean they don't even have half of the chemistry or tropes most other shonen duos have (heck at the end Hori made sure to even degrade Bakudeku further by disproving major fandom takes like them being heroes or forming an agency together, Izuku just rejects his offer at the end and then we see him chase after Ochako.)

If you want to have more queer writing and narratives, you should follow other stories that are more likely to have queer characters, writing and narratives in their stories. Because Shonen, especially Jump, just won't change for the better any time soon.

Yes MK will gain his friends still and because it’s my au and I’m my own primary audience really- it’s a spicynoodles since I’ve always felt Mei was for the girlies or aro in my headcanons really but I adore seeing other people’s interpretations of the characters but I find he more of a teasing older sister vibes than romantic in my own eyes which I’m satisfied with

I’m a sucker for a smitten Redson who demands to be betrothed cute strong demon with monkey king powers and I just love playing with MK just wanting to move slower with developing a relationship (maybe that’s me making him a little demiromantic lol) and Redson’s just already smitten with him

Redson is more partial to tradition, the way things are set and follows those beliefs bc that’s how he’s raised-

Now Mei I love to have as a complete and utter opposite to him. Being raised in a stuffy and restrictive household just made her want to rebel more and more- her parents love her just are worried about her but Mei just wants to show she can do things her own way ‘

MK is their middle ground of being quite adventurous but also open to some older things to understand them- he’s just open to both his friends’ views and so the compromiser (a plot point for later teehee)

Mei just absolutely finds joy in making Redson’s courting attempts to MK more embarrassing or difficult to accomplish both to test is he’s good enough for her best bestie and to fuck around with her buddy

yeah uh. the app ended its service back in 2021 shortly after the ending to its story was released. what's left of it is basically a dress-up game and a theater mode (aka you can still create your own character and then watch all the story cutscenes with them in it). but even that recently was taken away from us! a few months ago it was quietly and unceremoniously removed from the app store! a lot of people still have the app (holding on for nostalgia's sake, i guess. nothing is playable and it's not like the cutscene movies aren't on youtube) so as long as we don't delete it we can keep it but like no new downloads... 😔

that said. IF you have an interest in khux. if you would like to jump down into this weird delightful rabbit hole with all us other insane people. we can make that happen! there are two particular options i’d recommend:

firstly! the cutscene ‘movie’ from everglow. yes it is like 5 and a half hours long it’s a whole game story of course. you don’t have to watch it in one sitting or anything lol. this is a pretty cut-and-dry compilation of every story relevant cutscene in the game, in the official order they were released in. (this being kingdom hearts, there’s some in-between stuff where the player goes and visits disney worlds. unfortunately almost none of it has any bearing on the actual plot or characterization in this particular game… so this uploader has opted to cut it out. but it is important to know at least that it all exists.) this vid below is what i would consider the most authentic experience!

option two is the fandub movie! see these mobile games don’t have voice acting, which turns some people off of taking an interest in them. but this here is an incredible fan-made project that took auditions for each character, cast voice actors, collected their dubbed dialogue, and neatly edited and mixed the video all together. it took a ton of time and effort to put together and it came out incredibly well!

that said, i personally wouldn’t recommend it for a first time experience (unless you really, really can’t bear to do a lot of reading without voice acting). see, damo279 did things a little differently. a lot of cutscenes in this story weren’t released in chronological order- which is sometimes narratively appropriate, of course, but in other places it gets confusing. he rearranged some of these scenes to try to make the story a little more coherent. which imo mostly was fine, but it very much does change the audience’s experience (such as with the whole entire strelitzia thing. originally that entire section was a flashback and we didn’t know she existed until she was already long dead). he also kind of like ‘added’ a few scenes of his own with narration by one of the characters to summarize the disney world stuff. mostly at the beginning of the game bc the plot starts slow and then picks up the pace exponentially. but like if you don’t care about authenticity though that’s fine lol

the other thing is that like there is also a fully animated fully voiced movie featuring the foretellers (the masked cult leader furries lol) that exists as supplemental background material. chronologically that stuff all goes first, but it would be a reeeeeally really terrible boring weird introduction to the story imho. it’s better to just come back to that afterwards if you’re curious. and see the fandub project mixes the movie and the game together in chronological order to tell a full story. again- it’s great if you’re an existing rabid fan! i love it! but probably weird if you’re a new fan tbh. unless you’re very open minded and patient. in any case here’s part 1 of it! part 2 should be easy enough to find off of this video

and with that said. if you decide to check khux out PLEASE keep talking to me and asking questions! i know it’s a lot. there are even questions that we existing fans don’t yet have the answers to so like don’t feel bad if you don’t understand something! that’s part of the fun… this series is ongoing… hehe
