The constant clacking of the damn crutches was beyond annoying. It wasn’t enough to set his teeth on edge, but he felt vexed nonetheless. “Jesus fucking Christ— hate these fucking things,” Ari griped once he was fully seated on a chair.

Both of the hellish aluminum walking aids then proved to be even more irritating when it took several tries to lean them against the wall. Three times they started to slip for no good reason ( aside from his general lack of care, of course ). Three times he had to lean over and scramble to collect them before he had to play a shitty game of jackstraws. Three times he cursed the damn things and how dependent he was on them right now.
